YAY!!! Another great chapter though it takes a while to read it was worth it though sometimes it's a little more than confusing @.@ i think my brain is frizzled anyway i love how you use three different languages it sort of accents your point or the thought/phrase the person is saying it works very well

    I know and i agree with you. I personally love the words Lechan uses. And although i am not an expert at Egyptian, i do know that the words make sense and can be used in the way she is using them. Thats why i responded to the other reviewer. I apologise if i sounded like i meant otherwise or annoyed anyone. ^^;;

woh... you know with all the fighting over technicalities I have to honestly admit that well... yami/atemu could call yuugi 'moonbeam' and I’d still be happy with the result. I mean come on! the fact that the author is willing to do that much research whether it be a little off or not, just so that we can get such a good quality dosage of yaoi is very much appreciated on my part. We're talking yugioh here, not history class...

Gosh I loved this it was wonderful. I was a little taken aback at first by Yugi's grumpiness but I understood it. I love the plot line and can not wait to see what you do with this Thank you and good job.

    And another thing.

"The precise meaning of ka, ba, ach (akh), `shm (sekhem), and so on is no longer clear to us.
The reason for this lack of understanding is not only the absence of knowledge on the part of the scholars, but also the fact that we are dealing with a civilisation that spanned several thousands of years. Throughout that long period, meanings would change, and new ideas and multiple schools of thought develop, so that the same word is used in a totally different context."

I have something to add to my last review.
"In some transliterations of the Egyptian language, Akh is written as AKHU, Ikhu, or just Khu."
So no need to get picky with words. ¬_¬

    *sigh*

    1) Yes i know, but there are several sites that have said the same thing. I just used Wikipedia as an example here, alright.

    2) For some of the words, there is more than one meaning/definition. I admit that you were right about a few of the definitions you gave, but just like in the english language, there is more than one way that certain words can be used.

    3) Look just chill. You're making a huge deal out of this for no reason. You're not the only one who has studied the language etc. (and i am not talking about me) If you really dislike the way it's written, then just don't read it. I don't know why you feel you have the right to spoil it for the rest of us. Take your own advice and DEAL WITH IT.

In response to Yuugi25: a) Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia. It's not like those articles are subject to scholarly review, you know. ;) That said, even the definition you quoted notes that the word "akhu" is PLURAL. How does it make sense to refer to Yuugi in the plural??

Akh = "This was the immortal part, the radiant and shining being that lived on in the Sahu, the intellect, will and intentions of the deceased that transfigured death and ascended to the heavens to live with the gods or the imperishable stars." (From touregypt.com)

The ka and ba do not fuse/join to form the akh. And reincarnation is not a part of the AE belief system, so where whoever wrote that got *that* idea... ??

AE religion is not a mere casual interest for me. It is something that I have put a lot of study into and something that I follow as a personal belief. I'm not pulling these facts out of my ass, here. I don't care if you "like the words (she) uses" in her fanfic. The fact remains that she is using them INCORRECTLY. Deal with it.

Okay i have a few things to say about the review before this one.

I've done my research and Wikipedia says:
"The modern figurative use of 'hieratic' refers to the LANGUAGE of the highly educated elite in comparison with the language of the masses (see demotic)."
Meaning that it's fine to use the word 'hieratic' for the spoken language as well.

Secondly i researched Akhu and found out:
"the Akhu were Beings of light compared to stars"
^ (Emphasis on "BEINGS OF LIGHT". I think it's just fine (and totally adorable ^^) for Yami/Atemu to call Yuugi this.)

Also, as for the word Akh:
"In later belief, the Ka was considered to change into the Akh and Ba after death, rather than uniting with the Ba to become the Akh. At this stage, it was believed that the Akh spent some time dwelling in the underworld before returning and being reincarnated as a Ka, gaining a new Ba."
^ (This could also apply to Yuugi, depending on how you see his relationship with Yami/Atemu of course.)

Anyways i just wanted to say that, because i really love the words Lechan uses in her stories and would love to continue seeing them.

As for the fanfic, this is by far one of my most fav fics i've ever read. Second only to "Memories of Shadow and Light".
Your definitely one of my favourite authors of all time. *jaw literally dropped at the length and quality of your one shot* Please continue writing your stories and update soon.
Especially this story and Memories. ^_~

No, this isn't "seriously hieratic." Hieratic is a form of *writing.* It is, in fact, the first cursive form of the ancient Egyptian written language (hieroglyphs, hieratic, demotic). The spoken language is NOT called hieratic.

Secondly, "akhu" doesn't mean "light." It is the plural form of the word "akh" which means "effective spirit" or "shining spirit." It is what the ancient Egyptians (and modern Kemetics) called the blessed dead, the justified souls of those who had died and "gone West." I've seen this mistake in more than one fic and it really throws this reader right out of the mood when the Pharaoh (Atem, Yami, whatever name you prefer) calls his lover "effective spirits" in the throes of passion. I mean, really. That's taking ancestor veneration a litttle TOO far, if you know what I mean. *wince*
