Disclaimer: I do not own the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX series or fandom, nor do I profit from this fanfiction. |
Author's Notes: Alright. Before y'all get around to reading this story, I do have a few notes I have to make. The first one is the mandatory disclaimer: I own none of the characters in this story. Forewarned is forearmed (as I so often say): this chapter is about 5,000 words over 15 pages (double-spaced and contains no sex. However, there will be sex in subsequent chapters. With respect to how it was written, it was written in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX universe and is set roughly at the end of season 2. That means season 3 characters and beyond have not yet appeared. I actually haven't watched season 3 or 4 of GX yet and I don't know what happens. It does contain -gasp- actual duels, though you can skip to the end of 'em without missing too much if you'd really like. Next, I am a stranger to the Yu-Gi-Oh forums. My first visit was yesterday. I noticed that there are only 1/50th as many GX fics (give or take) as original Yu-Gi-Oh fics. Though the GX series is slightly more recent that the original series, I don't really know why this massive disparity should exist. I also noticed that most of them were slash fics, so I hope there isn't some massive stigma to writing a dark M/F GX fic. I have somehow violated forum etiquette, please let me know. Furthermore, I am a (straight) guy, in case that wasn't obvious, so I don't actually have as much of an insight as I'd like to into the inner workings of the female mind. But that being said (as always), I gave it my best shot. If you liked this chapter, please review, and if you didn't... well, constructive criticism. Anyway, I'll waste no more of your time. Read on and enjoy! Dueling For Dignity Chapter 1: The Kidnapping “Ugh.” Alexis felt awful. What had she been doing last night that could have caused such a headache? The pain was beating into her skull; she couldn't focus. She couldn't remember anything. All the lights around her were very bright and she shut her eyes and held up a hand to shield them. Though she could tell she was sitting on a cold, hard, surface she didn't know anything else about her surroundings and felt practically incapacitated. She didn't want to open her eyes and she didn't know if she could move. After collecting herself for a few seconds, she decided to try speaking. “Mupmph,” said her mouth, which felt chalky, dry, and oddly numb. She had no idea what 'Mupmph' meant, but maybe it would attract attention. She wasn't too proud to ask for help when the situation demanded it, and if the pounding pain in her temples was any indication, the situation now demanded it. There was the sound of nearby footfalls. “So, you're awake, are you? That's good. Here.” There was a new sound: plopping, like something being dropped into water, then fizzing. Then, Alexis felt a glass being pushed against her lips and the tickle of seltzer water around the corners of her mouth. She drank gratefully. Her mouth lost its weird chalky feeling and the headache subsided, if only a little bit. Still, the lights were terrible. “The lights,” she croaked. Her voice still sounded alien and raspy, like a frog's. “Hold on,” came the reply. It was a deep, smooth voice, definitely a man's. There were footsteps, then the lights dimmed. Alexis decided she was going to brave opening her eyes again. A rush of blurry and indistinct shapes greeted her. She saw a dark shape, presumably the man, approach her again and press the glass to her lips once more. “Drink some more. You were sweating like mad and I'm sure you lost a lot of fluids.” Alexis complied with the advice, drinking until the glass was empty. “What happened?” she managed. Her voice still sounded a bit raspy, but her usual strong, brash, and prideful tone was returning. “I'm no anesthesiologist. I probably administered the sedative in the wrong dosage, which is you're feeling these side-effects.” “Sedative? Are you a doctor? Was I hurt?” “You don't remember what happened, Alexis? You were at the party.” Yes. The party. She remembered it now. There had been a party celebrating the end of the tournament. But what had happened to her? “I do remember,” she said slowly. “I got up and went to the bathroom... because I felt lightheaded, but it wouldn't go away. Then I started to shake and I lost my balance. I think I must have passed out. Was I sick?” “Not exactly. You were drugged, Alexis.” “Drugged?” Alexis struggled up. Though she didn't yet feel confident enough to take her feet, she propped herself up with her elbows. Her vision was returning slowly. The blurs were becoming more colorful and distinct. The blur in front of her had taken a human shape. “I don't understand,” blurted Alexis. “Did anything happen to me? Who would have drugged me? I mean, I didn't come with a date or anything like that.” “One thing at a time, Alexis. Can you see?” “Sort of. Everything's blurry.” “How many fingers I am holding up?” The silhouette held up a five fingers. “Five,” said Alexis impatiently. “Who drugged me? I swear, if it was Chazz with one of his stupid love things, I'll give him a piece of my mind.” “It wasn't Chazz or any of your friends,” said the figure quietly. “Hold steady. I'm going to put some drops in your eyes.” Alexis felt a pair of powerful fingers holding one eyes open, then a cold drop. The same sensation followed soon after in her other eye. At first her vision swam, then settled. In moments, she could see again. She was sitting in the middle of large concrete room, totally unfurnished, with only one door on the far side. There was one table off to the side which she still couldn't quite make out. The man standing in front of her was tall and lightly tanned with dark hair and striking black eyes. His eyes had a weird quality to them. Cold? Not exactly. Merciless? No. Maybe driven. Determined. For the moment, they told Alexis one thing in particular: he was no doctor. “It was you. You drugged me.” “Yes,” admitted the man, nodding his head towards Alexis. “I was compelled to drug you at the party.” “You spiked my drink? Why?” “As I was saying, I was compelled to drug you in order to kidnap you, Miss Rhodes.” At that, Alexis found the strength to struggle to her feet. Though the traces of the anesthetic still pulsed through her bloodstream, crippling her and causing her to wobble dangerously, she managed to stay standing. “Who are you? Why did you kidnap me?” “To answer that and several other questions you're likely to have: my name is unimportant. You may call me the Deckmaster. You are no longer at Duel Academy; rather you are on a small island some distance from it that is deserted apart from us. It's been about thirty hours since the party, and I'm sure your friends have realized that you are missing by now. Yes, they will probably look for you, no they will not find us here.” “You still didn't say why you kidnapped me,” shouted Alexis. Her headache seemed to have collapsed into general anger. “Don't tell me. You're some other power-hungry freak who wants to take over the world.” “Nope,” said the man, shaking his head. “I don't want the world and I don't see how kidnapping you would help me get it, frankly.” “Then why?” demanded Alexis. “Why did you kidnap me?” “I don't think you'd like the answer to that question. Maybe you ought to just wait and find out.” “Tell me!” “At the very least, you ought to wait for the stimulants I dissolved in your water to counteract to the anesthetic in your bloodstream. Otherwise, the shock might... well.” The Deckmaster shrugged. “In the mean time, why don't you settle for asking me something about myself?” “Fine, if that's the game you want to play. Who are you? Then, after you finish explaining that, you can tell me why you kidnapped me.” “Who I am?” asked her captor, smiling humorlessly. “I already told you. I'm the Deckmaster. Fine, I guess I might as well start from the beginning. I warn you, though, none of this has anything to do with kidnapping you. I always wanted to attend Duel Academy, ever since I was just a kid. I took the test and passed with high marks and won my practice duels. I was accepted into the Ra Yellow dorm some years ago, but then I was arrived, I was told that I wasn't on the list of students. When I complained to the Chancellor, I found out: there was no record of my ever having taken the test, the written exam or the duel. Someone hadn't wanted me in the academy, so I had been erased.” The Deckmaster paused for his breath. “I wasn't discouraged, though. I set up on this island, some miles from Duel Academy, and went back and forth between them. I pilfered a yellow blazer, which should have been mine by right, and I attended lectures. I dueled for practice, and I practiced day and night.” The Deckmaster had clenched his fist so tightly his fingernails were digging into his skin. “So you kidnapped me for what? Revenge?” Alexis' vision had cleared considerably, if it was a little narrow. The self-declared Deckmaster was a large, heavy-set man who appeared quite strong. He was blocking the only exit. Alexis doubted she could overpower him, but maybe with a little evasion she could get past him. She would just need to wait for the right opportunity. “No,” said the Deckmaster quietly. “Not for revenge. I told you, my past has nothing to do with why I brought you here.” “Why then?” she demanded. The Deckmaster sighed. “Not to be distracted, then?” “No. It's not like I have anything else to wonder about. Why did you drug and kidnap me?” “To rape you senseless.” Alexis wasn't quite sure what she'd been expecting, but it certainly wasn't this. His words seemed to stop in her head as her mind turned them over and over, trying to understand them. Her eyes slowly widened in horror as she comprehended his intentions towards her, her mouth hanging slightly open with sickness and revulsion. She forgot all about her plans to escape, at least temporarily, as shock disabled her. “What-why-” she sputtered incoherently. “Why? Because I live alone on this island and I need a nice girl like you.” Alexis' mind formulated a half-dozen mental retorts and one physical one, but none of them found their way to her mouth (or in the last case, her fist). Instead, she heard herself ask. “But what-why me?” “Why you?” asked the Deckmaster. For the first time, something she said seemed to have surprised her captor. The Deckmaster turned around and picked something up from the table. Had Alexis had the presence of mind, she might have been able to make a dash for the door or even jumped her kidnapper from behind. It wasn't to be. Her head was still swimming from shock and drugs, and she felt so weak that she wasn't at all sure she could stand, much less do something energetic like run for the door. The Deckmaster turned back to her a second later and was holding a small hand-mirror, which he thrust into her hand and positioned so she stared into her own reflection. Her captor tapped the mirror's (and the reflection of her) face. “That's why.” Alexis stared at the mirror dumbly. “You're beautiful, Alexis,” snapped the Deckmaster when she didn't seem to get the point. “Your flowing golden hair, your harvest-colored eyes, your pale white skin. Your breasts are what? D-cups at the least. And I doubt your skirt can be more than two inches below your panties. You're gorgeous, and whether you knew it or not, your clothes made you a tease. The first time I lay eyes on you, I knew that I wanted you. Now I've taken you and you're mine.” At this declaration ownership, Alexis felt her mind suddenly clear and her strength return. Adrenaline pumped through her and she got back to her feet, her fingers clenched and her eyes blazing. “Now you listen here, Deckmaster. I don't know what kind of sick game you're playing but I'm not something you can take or own. I'm me, and I'll never give in to a sleazebag like you.” The kidnapper chuckled unpleasantly. “You don't have a say in the matter. Think you do? By all means, try to leave. The door's right over there.” Alexis took an uncertain step forward and nearly fell. Despite her newfound burst of energy, she still hadn't regained her coordination. She couldn't fight or outrun the Deckmaster in her current state. Her captor again chuckled ruthlessly as Alexis staggered back against the wall. He advanced on her and pinned one of her arms against the concrete and pushed her down. She felt her legs crumple under her. The Deckmaster stroked her cheek with his free hand. Alexis flinched away from his touch. As she did, her captor brought his mouth up to her ear. “I could rape you right now and there wouldn't be a thing you could do about it, my dear. I could have raped you already. I you could knock you unconscious again and then take you. I could tie you up and do you however, whenever I want. You are mine.” The Deckmaster was pressing against her, and Alexis could feel a horrible bulge hardening in his pants. “No!” she shouted, and pushed him back with all the strength she could muster. The kidnapper fell back, more voluntarily than from Alexis' push, and laughed again. Alexis kept her footing, breathing heavily. “I'll duel you for it!” she yelled. “I'll duel you for my freedom.” “And why would I agree to that?” asked the Deckmaster with a wicked grin. “I already have you. Why should I give you a chance to escape?” “Because you don't have me!” said Alexis. “You've captured me, maybe, but you haven't defeated me. You have my body, but you don't have my mind. As long as you don't duel me, you can... take me, but you won't have beaten me.” “I could literally beat you, of course, but you're lucky. I'm a sick and twisted man, my dear, and I want to see that defeated, broken look in your eyes. I want to watch that little last glimmer of hope fly out of you before I violate you.” “You're right,” said Alexis. “You are sick.” “Maybe. But because I'm sick, I'll agree to your little duel. If you win, I'll take you back to Duel Academy and you can even turn me in the authorities there for my crime. If I win, you have to stay here as my own pretty little sex toy.” The man opened a large duffel bag on the table and drew out a duel disk, which Alexis recognized as her own. He tossed it to her while bringing out another and strapping it over his own arm. “I thought your might want to duel me, so I took the liberty of taking your duel disk and deck. So, do we have a deal?” “You've got a duel,” retorted Alexis. With the comforting weight a duel disk on her arm, Alexis suddenly felt much calmer. She locked the instrument into place. A mechanism whirred to life and the disk deployed with a serious of jolts and clicks. The same process was occurring on the other side of the room. “Why I don't I start things off?” said the Deckmaster with a smirk. “I lay five cards face down. Then, I'll lay one monster face-down in defense mode, and that's it.” “Five cards face down?” Alexis pondered to herself. “That's a really weird opening move. It empties his hand entirely. He could have five traps waiting for me. But there's nothing I can do to get rid of them.” She drew; The card Doble Passé entered her hand. “I could have drawn something better, but at I least I know I have a trap too.” “I'll place one card face down,” she said, setting Doble Passé. “Then I'll summon Blade Skater.” The image of a multicolored woman wearing sharp skates appeared on the field. “Blade Skater, attack his face-down monster!” Blade Skater (1400/1500) lunged forward and kicked at her opponent's face down card with its sharpened footware. The image of a grotesque single-eyed monstrosity appeared before being cut clean in two by the Skater. “You've attacked my Morphing Jar,” smirked the Deckmaster. Now we throw out our hands and draw five new cards. Alexis grimaced as she sent her hand to the graveyard. “That was his plan all along. He didn't have five traps. He set five face-down cards so he wouldn't lose a single card from his hand. I, on the other hand, lost five.” “I end my turn,” said Alexis grimly. “Great,” said the Deckmaster, drawing. “I place a another monster face down and then it's back to you.” “Great for me, you mean,” retorted Alexis. “First, I'll summon my Cyber Gymnast. Then, I activate my polymerization to combine the Blade Skater on my field with the Etoile Cyber in my hand to form Cyber Blader! Not only does my Cyber Blader have 2100 attack points, but she's got a special ability too. As long as you've only got one monster on your field, she can't be destroyed in battle. Now, Cyber Blader, attack his face-down monster!” The weird pink and red athlete struck at his face down-card. The image of a brownish bug appeared momentarily, then shattered into pixels. “You've attacked my Man-Eater Bug,” grinned the Deckmaster. “That allows me to destroy one monster on your side of the field. Now, I could destroy your little Gymnast and save my lifepoints, but since your Cyber Blader can't be destroyed in battle, I think I'll have my Bug take her to the grave instead.” “No!” cried Alexis as the fusion monster disappeared to the grave. “You'll pay for that. Now that your Bug's gone, you're wide open. Cyber Gymnast, attack his life points directly!” The heavily muscled and masked image of her Gymnast (800/1800) rushed towards the Deckmaster, striking his across the chest. His lifepoint counter spiraled down to 3200. As the Gymnast returned to her side of the field, Alexis stared at his face-down cards. “That's so weird! He has five cards face down. At least one must be a trap. Why didn't he stop my Gymnast? Maybe he didn't think it was worth it. Or maybe... that's it! He's used two effect monsters in a row. Maybe his strategy is to use effect monsters. If that's the case, I've got just the card to stop him.” “I set one card face-down, then I end my turn.” “And it's back to me,” grinned the Deckmaster. He drew, and his grin widened as he saw the card he'd picked up. “This is just the card I need. I play Rapid-Fire Magician. Thanks to this card, every time I activate a normal spell, he deals 400 points of damage straight to you. Then I activate my face-down card -- Dark Room of Nightmare! Every time effect damage is inflicted, this Dark Room inflicts another 300. In case you're too shocked to count, that means if deal effect damage to you, my Dark Room deals another 300, then my Magician deals 400, then my Dark Room deals another 300 for my Magician. That's a total of a thousand extra points. That gives me the fire-power to wipe you out this turn.” With his smile now horribly wide, the Deckmaster activated his face-down card. An image of a burning village met Alexis' eyes. “Go, Ookazi! This card inflicts 800 points of damage straight to you. With my Magician and Dark Room backing it up, that's nearly half your life points.” “Not so fast!” yelled Alexis. “I activate my trap. Go, Pure Pupil! I can activate this card as long as I have only monsters with 1000 attack points or less. If I do, it lets me destroy any effect monster you control I choose before its effect activates, and I choose your Rapid-Fire Magician. Sorry, but I think I just shaved 700 points off your Ookazi's damage.” “Maybe, but it still deals more than a thousand, straight to you. What's more, I'm not done yet. I play two copies of Sparks, for 500 a pieces, and Hinotama from my hand for another 800 damage. That's 2900 all together.” A fireball rained down from the sky and deadly zaps of fire and electricity crackled all around Alexis. She yelped as her lifepoint counter ticked down to a scant 1100. “With that, I'll place two cards face down and end my turn.” Alexis tried to maintain her poise as she drew. “That was close. If I hadn't destroyed his Rapid-Fire Magician, I would have lost the duel. I had no idea he was setting himself up for such a huge bunch of burn spells at once. What's worse, if he draws another Ookazi spell, I'm done for. I need to reinforce my lifepoints.” “Alright, Deckmaster. I place one card face down. Then I play Emergency Provisions. For every spell or trap card I send to the grave I get an additional 1000 points, and I choose my Fusion Weapon and my Doble Passé. That gives me 2000 lifepoints.” There was a mechanical whir as her lifepoint counter ticked back up to 3100. “Then, I'll summon Cyber Tutu, in attack mode.” A pink-haired ballerina in a blue tutu and a green-and-red skin-tight jumpsuit appeared. “Aw,” said the Deckmaster mockingly. “How cute. Maybe when I win the duel, I should make you wear a cute little tutu like that while I screw your brains out.” “It's not going to happen, pervert!” yelled Alexis. “Know why? Because with your Magician gone, you've got no face-down monsters on your side of the field, so I attack you directly with my Tutu and my Cyber Gymnast.” The Gymnast rammed the Deckmaster in the stomach while Cyber Tutu delivered a spinning kick straight to her opponent's head. Though it was only a hologram, the Deckmaster staggered under the assault, as his points ticked all the way down to 1400. “Not so cute now, is she?” taunted Alexis. “On the contrary, I can't abide weak people. Part of the reason I want you so badly is your strength. It's the primordial instinct to break things, I guess. And now, I'm back to breaking you. Look what I drew: my last Sparks card.” Virtual flames popped up around Alexis as her life-point counter fell to 2500. “Then I'll play one face-down monster and that ends my turn.” “He talks a big game, but I've got him on the ropes. He's just playing defense now. I admit, if that's an effect monster, it could clear the field. I've got to end this now.” Alexis drew. “I activate Pot of Greed. This lets me draw two more cards.” “We both know what Pot of Greed does,” said the Deckmaster dismissively. “But do you know what this card does? I play Machine Angel Ritual!” Instantly, the bare concrete room around them disappeared and was replaced with an isle of steel, at the end which sat a bubbling cauldron of lava. The wrecked carcasses of discarded machines surrounded them. “Machine Angel Ritual lets me summon a Cyber Angel from my deck with a level equivalent to the sum of the monsters I sacrifice. So goodbye Cyber Tutu and Cyber Gymnast, and hello Cyber Angel Benten!” A ninja-like woman in black, white, and red appeared. “My Cyber Angel has a special ability, too. Whenever she destroys a card, its defense points come out of your lifepoints. And with only 1400 left, let's just say I hope you mounted a strong defense.” The Deckmaster was still smirking. “I think I know why you're grinning,” said Alexis, her eyes dancing. She had forgotten about why she dueling. The thrill of victory was in her blood now. She was about to make the clinching move. “I activate Ritual Weapon! With this magic card, the attack and defense of my monster go up by 1500, for a total of 3300 attack points for my Cyber Angel. I bet you were thinking my Benten couldn't destroy your face-down monster. You're wrong.” The smile disappeared from the Deckmaster's face. “Ha. I thought so. Go, Cyber Angel Benten. Attack his face-down monster with your Ritual Blade strike!” As Benten rushed towards the Deckmaster's side of the field, a large figure crouching behind a kite shield appeared from behind the card. “That's a Big Shield Gardna. Since he has 2600 defense points, when I destroy him, you'll lose the duel.” “Let's pause this little contest for a minute,” said the Deckmaster. He was suddenly smiling again. “What?” cried Alexis. “You lost, fair and square.” “Oh, I could easily stop your attack. I have four face-down cards. The first two are Swords of Revealing Light and Dark Hole, which are useless right now since I can't play them on your turn. The third is Solemn Judgment. If I activated it, I would destroy your ritual weapon and you couldn't destroy my Gardna. But it's the fourth that's really interesting. I'll get to it in a second. First, let me ask you a question. Do you know the difference between your Cyber Angel Dakini and your Cyber Angel Benten? Other than their stars and scores, of course.” “Sure. Benten takes the defense score of the monsters she destroys out of your life points, but Dakini takes the difference between her attack and the destroyed monster's defense.” “Not quite what I was looking for,” said the Deckmaster, still grinning. “You see, Cyber Angel Dakini uses its ability to inflict battle damage, but Cyber Angel Benten inflicts effect damage. And I am the master of effect damage. I activate my trap card, Barrel Behind The Door. Barrel Behind The Door takes effect damage that I would normally take and sends it back against you, instead. And since my Gardna has 2600 defense points, and you only have 2600 life points, that means you lose.” “No!” cried Alexis. “Benten, stop your attack!” “It's too late for that, I'm afraid,” grinned the Deckmaster as his Gardna disappeared with Benten's slash. A huge gun materialized on the field and fired a virtual bullet straight at Alexis. She felt it strike her, and she fell to her knees as her counter ticked down to zero. “But... but... that means,” she stuttered out. Dueling was what she was best at. Losing at all was bad enough for her, without the unconscionable consequences. “It means you're my little fuck bunny now,” said the Deckmaster, grinning. Alexis felt wet tears stream down her face. “That's the look I wanted to see,” said the Deckmaster. “That look of utter defeat. Don't worry. I'll soon fill the void inside of you... in more ways that one.” “That wasn't even clever, you... you... pervert!” Alexis yelled between sobs. “I can't believe I'm... I mean I'm going to lose... you're going to be my first-” “Ah, and you're a virgin?” said the Deckmaster quietly. “Even better. I get you all to myself. I'm shocked. I would have a thought a little tease like you would have ridden cock at least once. But apparently I thought too little of you? How pure are you, exactly? Do you even masturbate? Do you deserve that white lining on your blouse?” Alexis couldn't answer. She could only cry. “I'll tell you what. I don't want you to lose all hope. So I'll tell you what. You're sleeping with me tonight, don't make any mistake, but I'll make you deal.” “What?” asked Alexis, barely able to speak. “It's quite simple, really. You've got six friends, don't you? Jaden, Chazz, Bastion, Syrus, Hassleberry, and Aster, right? I'll challenge each of them to a duel, one at a time, one a day, starting tomorrow. If I win, I rape you that night. If your friend wins, I'll give a booster pack to strengthen that deck of yours, and I'll let them send you a card if they want to. Oh, and I won't rape you, of course. A week from today, after I've dueled them all, I'll let you play a rematch for your freedom with whatever improvements to your deck you've been able to make. I know they've dueled to save the world and so on in the past, but they'll be dueling for something different this time. They'll be dueling for your dignity.” Alexis looked up at her captor, her eyes still wet with tears. However, her eyes were no longer ragged and broken, and no new tears flowed from them. “My friends are going to tear you apart, Deckmaster, and when I play you again in a week, I'm going to make you sorry that you ever laid a finger on me.” “Maybe, maybe not,” replied the Deckmaster. “We'll just have to wait and see. In the mean time, let me show you to your room. I don't intend to have my little pet live in stark concrete. Come along, Alexis.” As he led her out of the room, Alexis kept a firm grip on her duel disk. Maybe she'd be forced into bed with this lunatic tonight, but she'd have her freedom. Just wait. That's it for this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it! Remember to review one way or the other. 'Till next time. -Chris
