Tribulation

“Did you say something?” Yugi yawned sleepily.
Yami bit his lip. He had to think fast.
“Huh?” He groaned, acting like he’d been sleeping.
“Uh, nuthin’, sorry for waking you up.” Yugi mumbled as he rolled onto his back.
“Oh, okay” Yami sighed, pulling more covers over him. Just as he was getting comfortable he
felt the covers being yanked away.
“Hey!” he protested, pulling them back his way. Yugi turned onto his side facing Yami and
made a pouty face.
“Now I remember what I don’t like about sleeping by you, cover snatcher.”
“Cover Snatcher!?!” Yami chuckled, handing over some of the covers.
Yugi’s eyes twinkled in the moonlight shining in through their window and covering their bed.
Yami reached over and lightly brushed his thumb across Yugi’s soft cheek, admiring his
ient ent eyed hikari. Yugi smiled, if there would have been more light, Yami would have seen
him blushing.
“What?” Yugi laughed.
Yami shook his head. “Oh, nothing really. I just had forgotten how cute you are this early in the
morning.”
Yugi rolled his eyes and bonked Yamir thr the head with a pillow. “Oh you! Go back to sleep.”
Yami chuckled lightly as he sat up and reached for his pants that hung over the chair near the
bed.
“Actually, I thin#821#8217;m going to walk over to Marik’s. I feel bad for acting like a jackass this
morning. I hope he’ll still talk to me.”
Yugi pulled the covers over his head and closed his eyes.
“Alright. Have fun.”
Yami finished dressing and grabbed his duel disk. His hand just touched the knob of the door
when he heard Yugi giggling.
“Don’t have too much fun without me, Yami.”
“Do I ever?” Yami laughed as he left the room.
Marik cracked open a beer and pulled a chair up to the counter. He rested his hand on his
chin and grinned at Ryou and Malik scrambling to get their clothes back on.
Bakura was busy putting a frozen pizza in the oven, the one thing he was actually good at
cooking.
“You know you two could have told us you wanted the place to yourselves tonight.” Marik
snickered.
“Amen to that” Bakura remarked as he slammed the oven door shut.
“I think your costume is wearing off on yBakuBakura.” Marik laughed, his eyes still on Malik and
Ryou.
Malik pulled up his jeans and zipped them up, leaving the top button open. He walked up to the
counter and took a sip of Marik’s beer.
Where were you all day?” he asked curiously, looking over Marik’s nun outfit with a grin.
Marik pulled out another can of beer for himself and didn’t seem bothered that Malik had just
stolen his beer.
“You won’t believe this, but we spent the day getting chased by cops.” Marik smirked.
Malik glanced over at Ryou with a big grin on his face. Ryou had to turn away and hide his
laughter.
“Chased by cops again? Good grief yami, one of these days you’re going to get yourself in more
trouble than you can handle!” Malik remarked, trying to keep a straight face.
Bakura pulled a bag of Dorito’s out of the brown paper bag and opened them. He set the bag on
the counter and grabbed himself a beer.
“All we did was throw a bowling ball through a church window and they were on us like flies on
camel shit.” Marik grumbled.
Bakura punched Marik in the arm.
“You and your bright fucking ideas.” he griped as he tossed his barrette aside and took his hair
out of a pony tail. His hair instantly went spiky.
Marik took off his nun habit and shook his head, his hair instantly standing on end.
“They acted like we stole the sphinx, damn cops. They sure know how to fuck ugoodgood time.”
Bakura unbuttoned his blouse, exposing his well defined chest, and nodded his head.
“That’s for sure.”
They all sat quietly for a few minutes, none of them sure what to say. Ryou and Malik had to
keep their mouths shut about their excitement for the day, and Marik and Bakura weren’t into
small talk..
“Hey, Malik, go turn some music on.” Marik demanded as he crushed his empty beer can with
one hand.
“Good idea” Malik nodded as he went to retrieve Marik’s little black boom box.
“Hey Mary Poppins, want a beer?” Bakura laughed, looking at Ryou.
Unlike Bakura, Ryou wasn’t part of the drinking scene. He would drink champagne at weddings,
and on New Years, but that was about it. It was normally out of character for him to let loose
and toss back a few cold ones.
“Why sure, thank you, yami.” He smiled as he took the beer from Bakura’s hand.
Bakura was visibly shockedt Ryt Ryou had accepted the beverage. He reached into his black
blazer and pulled out a cigarette.
“Got an ashtray around?” he ask Marik with the cigarette pressed between his lips.
Marik shook his head. “Nope, you’ll have to drink your beer up and use the can.”
Bakura rolled his eyes and placed his unlit cigar beh behind his ear. He proceeded to chug down
an entire can of beer in less than a minute.
He slammed down his empty can and wiped his chin with his sleeve.
Marik crossed his arms and grinned at innocent looking Ryou.
“I’ll give you a Raigeki card if you can drink your beer faster than Bakura drank his.”
Ryou gingerly took a sip of his beer, took a deep breath, than swallowed down what was left in
the can in half the time Bakura had. He looked between the astonished eyes of Marik and
Bakura. “What? I just got laid, I’m dying of thirst! Don’t look so surprised!” he chuckled.
Bakura smiled proudly at his hikari.
“I’ll be right back with your card.” Marik laughed as he walked into the back bedroom.
Malik walked in and plugged the cd player into the wall on the counter. Ryou helped him clear
the dirty dishes and fast food leftovers left sitting out. A few stray fruit flies zipped passed their
faces.
“Damn, you two really need to clean more often.” Bakura barked.
“I’ll give you $20 to clean it.” Marik laughed as he walked back in carrying the card he owed
Ryou.
“I’d rather not,” Bakura mused, looking slightly bored. “Got any dice?”
Malik nodded his head. “Yes, do you want me to get them?”
Bakura nodded his head. “Yes, I know a game you all will thoroughly enjoy. I’ll need a pen and
paper too.”
Malik reached into the cupboard and handed Bakura a cup full of dice and a notepad and pen
“Okay, this is is extremely simple. It’s called 5000. I’ll explain the rules as we go along. First
we all shake one of the dice. The person who roles the highest goes first.”
All four of them shook one of the dice. Malik got a 3, Ryou got a 6, Bakura and Marik both
rolled an ace.
With 5 dice in the cup, Bakura handed it to Ryou.
“Looks like you go first. Shake and see what you get.”
Ryou shook the dice. He ended up with two -5's and three-3's.
The 5's are worth 50 points, the three of a kind is worth 10 times that number. Since all your dice
added to your score, you have to shake again. You’re at 350 points now.” Bakura explained.
Ryou dropped the dice in the cup and rolled them again. This time he rolled four 1's and a 2.
Bakura glared at Ryou.
"That roll is worth 1100 points. Three ones are worth 1000 points. And you get to make a rule.”
Ryou nodded his head.
“Okay, my rule is if anybody uses a curse word, they have to give me a quarter.”
Bakura and Marik glanced at each other with annoyed looks on their faces.
“Okay, fine. You have to shake again now. You have to shake if you get three of a kind,
otherwise you can stop anytime before you don’t role a 1 or a 5, AND you can only shake the
dicat aat aren’t 1's or 5's, Do I make myself clear?” Bakura ask.
Marik took a swig of his beer and grinned. “You’re saying if I keep rolling three aces, I can
make up rules like ‘anytime somebody says Bakura’s name, they have to drink a shot of that
nasty Kentucky Rye whisky that’s been sitting in the back of the cupboard since we moved
here?’” he ask with a mischievous look on his face.
“That’s evil, pure evil, Sister Ishtar.” Malik chuckled.
“Yes to both of you.” Bakura groaned.
Just as Ryou went to shake the dice again, there was a knock at the door.
Marik and Bakura froze. “Shit, I hope it’s not the cops.” Marik said in a hushed voice. Bakura
grabbed his beer and quietly walked dthe the hall into the bedroom. Not taking any chances,
Marik followed him.
Malik and Ryou rolled their eyes at each other as Malik answered the door.
Yami stood leaning on the door frame, his hands in his pockets.
“Hello Malik, is Marik here?”
Malik nodded his head.
“Come on in, I’ll get him for you.”
Malik closed the door behind Yami, who instantly noticed Ryou and walked up next to him.
“Have fun tonight?” he asked with a half grin on his face.
Ryou nodded shyly. “Yes, thank you for your help.”
Malik returned with Marik, who had a look of relief on his face. Bakura stayed in the bedroom.
“Hey Yams, here to beg and plead for my forgiveness?” Marik grinned.
Yami turned to Marik and nodded his head.
“I guess you could say that. I acted like an ass, I’m very sorry.”
Yami ran his fingers through Marik’s hair and nuzzled against the Egyptian’s chest.
“Marik? Can we go talk somewhere private?” he asked softly.
Marik hesitated for a moment. “Uh, yeah, sure....Let’s go talk in the bathroom.”
Yami looked up at Marik curiously. “The bathroom? Why not in your bedroom?”
Marik bit his lip and shot a glance at Malik.
“Uh, well.....you know, Malik and Ryou might want to have some fun in there.”
Yami chuckled lightly. “I underst the the bathroom will be fine.”
Marik led Yami into the bathroom, leaving Malik and Ryou alone.
Bakura tip-toed out of the bedroom and set his empty beer can down on the counter.
“What’s going on?” He asked quietly.
“Yami stopped over to apologize to Marik.” Ryou whispered back.
Bakura glared at the bathroom door. “I’d love to kick his royal ass right now.”
Ryou shook his head. “I’d rather you didn’t, we’re guests here.”
“Have another beer, they’ll be in there forever.” Malik sighed, handing Bakura a beer. Just as
Bakura took a drink, they all heard Yami moaning loudly.
Malik rubbed his temples. “I swear those two are fucking.”
Ryou grinned as he held out his hand. “That’ll be a quarter, sweety.”

            After an hour of drinking, eating all the pizza, and listening to Yami and Marik doing
whatever they were loudly doing in the bathroom, they quieted down. Bakura picked up his beer
and scurried back into the bedroom.
Moments later the bathroom door opened.
Marik, dressed in his grey sweatpants , headed into the bedroom.
“I’ll be right out.” he said to Yami.
Yami nodded his and joined Malik and Ryou at the counter. After 15 minutes, Marik came out
of the bedroom wearing the tightest pair of black jeans he could squeak into, an over-sized
"Battle City tournament finalist” t-shirt, and a pair of bright white, brand-spanking new- name
label sneakers.
He didn’t look very happy.
“We’re leaving.” Marik said quickly as he grabbed Yami headed out the door. They left
without an explanation of where they were going to.
As soon as Yami and Marik were gone, Bakura walked out with an evil look in his eyes.
“That fucker, one of these days I’m going to fucking kill him! Ditching me like that, grrrrrr ”
Ryou held out his hand and grinned. “That’ll be fifty cents, please.”
            Marik and Yami used Malik’s motorcycle to drive to a small restaurant they liked near
the Kaiba Corps building. They sat at a booth more to the back and looked at the menu.
“Are Malik and Ryou an official couple now?” Yami ask casually.
“I think so, Bakura and I walked in on them fucking, if that means anything.
Yami’s eyes grew dark. He set down his menu and crossed his arms.
“You and who?” he in a crescendo.
Marik realized his slip of the tongue and laughed.
“Me and Bakura. We just hung out, if you’re trying to imply anything here.”
Yami held his doom-gaze on Marik and spoke very seriously. “I’m not implying anything. I
know you wouldn’t cheat on me.” Yami cocked his head. “But I am curious about something.”
he added.
Marik rolled his eyes. “And what is it you’re so curious about, Yami dear.”
Yami stared deep into Marik’s foxy indigo eyes. “About Malik. Now that he and Ryou are a
*couple,* does that mean Ryou will be joining in on our, shall I say, fun?”
“No, I know Malik better than anybody, and I know that when he’s serious about someone, he
doesn’t sleep around on them.” Marik replied, not sounding very pleased with Yami’s question.
Yami frowned.
“That’s a shame. He was quite enjoyable to watch.”
Marik wasn’t amused. He was about to say something when waitress came to take their ord

After she was gone, Marik continued their conversation.
“I know why you want Ryou to join us, and let me tell you what, pharaoh, there’s no way in hell
I’m going to let it happen. I don’t care if you hate Bakura, I DON’T.”
Yami glared daggers through Marik.
“If you really loved me you’d hate him for the times he tried killing me.” the pharaoh snapped
sharply.
Marik took a deep breath and held himself back from going after Yami. “Yami? Can I ask you
something.” he said after thinking about it for a few moments.
Yami nodded his head once. “Go ahead.”
Marik folded his hands and leaned over the edge of the table, looking at Yami’s face.
“Why should I hate Bakura for trying to kill you when I myself tried the very same thing?”
Yami stared down at his lap and thought. “Well Marik, you’re different.”
Marik rolled his eyes. “How am I different? Granted I never shoved you off of a cliff, or pissed
on your father’s grave, but given a chance to, I would have back when we were bitter rivals.”
Yami shook his head. “That’s not what I mean. I know you hated me, and I don’t blame you for
that. But I never did SHIT to Bakura. It wasn’t me that ordered the making of the Millennium
items and slaughtered his parents, but yet he still blames me for all that!”
Marik shook his head and sighed. “How do you know that? Have you ever asked him?”
“I don’t need to ask him, I just know.” Yami growled.
Both of them were at their boiling points, and to make matters worse, Seto Kaiba happened to
walk into the diner.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the delusional duo.” Seto arrogantly remarked.
“Oh go stick a fork in it, Kaiba.” Marik snapped back. “Yami and I don’t need your shit right
now.”
Kaiba chuckled at Marik’s response, sensing tension in the air around the dining couple.
“Awe, how sweet, a lover’s quarrel. Why sure I’ll leave you alone, fight nice now kids!” The
CEO laughed as he walked up to the counter to pick up donuts for Mokuba, Noa and himself.
Marik and Yami kept an eye on him until he left.
The waitress returned with Yami and Marik’s food, setting their plates in front of them. Marik
made a sour face at Yami and stood up. “I’ll take mine to go.” he huffed.
Yami reached out for Marik’s hand. “No, wait, please don’t go, I’m sorry.”
Marik jerked his hand away and glared. “I’m sick of hearing ‘I’m sorry’ all the time. You sound
almost as pathetic as Malik does.”
The waitress returned with Marik’s breakfast in a to go box. Marik took the box and tossed a $10
on the table. He looked back at Yami before walking away.
“I’ll call you when this urge to kill you goes away. Goodbye.”

            “Thanks for helping me get Bakura home and into bed, Malik.”
Malik smiled as they walked into Ryou’s bedroom. “Anytime, I know you’d do the same for
me.”
Ryou dimmed the light and started taking off his clothes.
“He so so loaded I don’t think he even knew who we were.”
Malik sat on the edge of the bed pulling his hair back into a pony tail.
“When he started calling me Yugi, I knew it was time to call it a night.”
Ryou slid under the covers and laughed.
“He’s quite the card sometimes.”
Malik brushed his fingers lightly down Ryou’s jaw before placing a gentle kin hin his lips.
“See you in the morning, sweety.” he smiled as he pulled his lips away.
“It is morning, Malik......You won’t see me until afternoon!" Ryou giggled as he settled into
bed.
“I’ll stop back here after work.” Malik smiled as he left to go to his summer job working as a
cashier at a fireworks stand.

After leaving Yami at the diner, Marik hurried back home and got there before daybreak.
He draped his jacket over the chair he’d been sitting in earlier and put his food from the diner in
the refrigerator. He walked over to the sink to get a drink of water. Marik couldn’t help but
notice all the dishes had been done and the rest of the kitchen was completely clean.
“Ryou” he laughed to himself as he walked with his glass of water into the living-room. He
reached over to turn on the television when he noticed a note lying on top of it. Marik picked it
up and read it over.
Marik,
               You misse! Ba! Bakura got drunk and passed out on the toilet. What made it even
funnier is that we couldn’t find his clothes anywhere, all he had on was boots. I’m with Ryou
because I thought he could use some help carrying Bakura home. Please don’t be mad, but we
dressed him in one of your outfits. I have to work today, so I’ll (hopefully) see you later.
Malik
P.S. You MAY want to come over to Ryou’s, you MIGHT want to see which outfit we chose.
Marik laughed out loud at Malik’s note.
“Malik, always telling me where he’ll be, what a tool.”
Marik looked outside and frowned at the sky filling with morning light. He knew that the cops
were probably still on the lookout for him, yet he wanted to see exactly what outfit Malik had
borrowed.
He threw Malik’s note back down on the television and went to his room. “I know Malik’s
hinting something priceless, I have to go.” he concluded.
After grabbing a quick shower, Marik got dressed in crisp white jeans, a tight black t-shirt, and a
white denim jacket that matched his jeans. He folded a red bandana and tied it around his head
to hold down his hair. After snapping on a few leather bracelets, Marik headed out the door.
Once he got out, he snapped his fingers and growled.
“SHIT! I was so pissed at Yami that I left Malik’s motorcycle downtown! Shit, shit, shit! It’s cop
central there now. Damn it, I’ll have to risk it.”

            Malik was walking passed a doughnut shop when a white car with a blue stripe pulled up
to the curb next to him. Malik paid no attention and continued walking to work.
“Hey kid!” the man who came out of the car shouted.
Malik stopped and looked back. A police officer wearing a blue uniform was approaching him.
“Me?” he askedsounding a bit miffed.
“Yes, you! You’re the same kid we were after yesterday for throwing that bowling ball through
that church window. Put you’re hands up against the wall!” The officer said firmly.
Malik’s eyes got huge as he turned around and put his hands up against the wall.
“But, I......I never did that!” Malik protested, still in disbelief.
“Quit playing games with me, you’re under arrest. Hands behind your back now. ” The officer
scoffed as finished patting Malik down.
“You have the right to remain silent.......” The officer began.
Malik bit his lip, he couldn’t believe he was being arrested for something he didn’t do. Than the
thought occurred to him........Marik and Bakura.
The officer shoved Malik into the back of his squad car and started to drive.
“I know I get a phone call!” Malik snapped at the cop.
“You’ll get your call, don’t worry.” the officer snapped back.
Malik turned his head and stared out the window at the passing scenery.
//I’ll just have Ryou get me out of this....// he thought to himself as he was hauled off to jail.
