Chapter Nine

�You had to go ahead and tell one of his friends that Rose was here, didn�t you? That guy is no good for her! Hell, I�m willing to put up with Kaiba since he�s a better pick for Rose!�

Even though they were upstairs and the kids were helping the triplets� father in the barn, Kaiba couldn�t help but feel sympathy towards the Hispanic woman. When the others had gotten home, Adam�s rage was barely contained.

Even Tom, whom Kaiba had never seen angry before, was furious enough that the English language was temporarily lost to him. He had just taken the freshly washed pickup and took off down the dusty roads.

Ben had taken one look at his tearful daughter and furious sons before suggesting that the children help him in the barn while they took care of their issues. Right now, Adam and Adrianna were yelling at each other in a combination of English and Spanish with the woman sounding dangerously close to tears.

Kaiba was silent as he looked at Rose, seeing the bruise forming on her cheek. �We won�t have to worry about your brothers beating somebody up, will we?� Kaiba questioned.

�No. Tom just drives around when he�s mad and Adam will yell. They�re the brains, I�m the brawn.�

The brunette flinched, hearing the broken tone in Rose�s voice. �Damn it, Rose, if I had known that he�d follow us here, I wouldn�t have suggested that-� Kaiba started but immediately fell silent when Rose looked up at him.

�Make me forget, Seto.�

�How?�

Rose bit her lower lip, looking up at him with such a pleading look in her eyes that he knew what she wanted. �I thought you weren�t comfortable doing that in your parents� house.� Kaiba said patiently.

�Please?�

Kaiba softly claimed the woman�s lips, softly stroking her hipbone as he gently pushed her against the bed. He could feel her fingers moving against his jeans before she managed to work the button loose and unzipped his pants.

No words were spoken between the two as they silently undressed each other, their fingers dancing across the other�s skin. Kaiba gently pried himself from the woman�s grasp, a soft smile placing itself on his lips. �You�re beautiful, you realize that.� Kaiba said softly as he placed soft kisses on the woman�s fingers.

�I�m�not.� Rose whispered, struggling to keep focused on the man.

�Yes,� he said as he pushed his fingers into the woman�s opening, watching as she gasped and arched her back, �you are.�

He watched the woman�s reactions as he slowly moved his fingers, hearing her pant his name before she began to beg softly. �Are you beautiful?� Kaiba questioned after a few minutes.

Rose whimpered as she nodded, watching as he nestled himself between her legs. �Yes,� she whispered. �I am beautiful.�

Kaiba smiled as he leaned down, kissing the bruise on the woman�s cheek. �Even when you�ve got a bruise, you�re beautiful.� Kaiba told her gently. �You�re so much without that bastard around.�

A moan left Rose�s lips as she felt her lover�s length entering her, digging her nails into his arms. She loved how he always seemed to fill her completely and the truths he always seemed to tell her. �Please�� Rose whimpered, tightening her muscles slightly.

Kaiba smirked, knowing exactly what she wanted. Grabbing onto the headboard, the brunette pulled out of her until only the tip of his length was touching her entrance before shoving himself back into her. She wanted it rough now, but later on he�d make sure that he was gentle with her.

Their release came too soon, and as they lay catching their breaths, Kaiba held the woman close to him. �I won�t let anything else happen to you.� Kaiba whispered.

Rose closed her eyes before whispering in shame, �Don�t make promises, Seto, that you can�t keep.�

Kaiba was silent as he looked up at the stars, trying to remember ever seeing them so bright. In the city, you couldn�t ever see them because of the lights being so damn bright. Out here, however, you felt as if you were being swallowed up by them. �Lovely night out, don�t you think?� Kaiba heard a male voice behind him say.

One glance told him who it was, and Kaiba nodded. �You don�t see the stars like this in Domino.� Kaiba agreed as Ben sat down next to him.

Ben chuckled softly before saying, �Your brother did pretty good at handling what happened today. I had him brush one of the horses and within fifteen minutes, he was telling me what happened without looking so scared.�

�He�s not used to violence. I don�t think he�s ever seen anybody use a gun near him.�

Ben nodded in agreement, his eyes showing that he was thinking. �He�s a good boy, Seto. You�re lucky to have him.� Ben told the young man.

�I know. He�s been my world since our parents died.�

�That�s why you work so hard, correct? So you can provide him with everything that he wants?�

Kaiba nodded slightly before answering, �I want him to be happy and to have everything that he could possibly need. I�ve been both a brother and a parent to him, but I know that�s not enough.�

�He needs a maternal figure in his life.�

�Yeah.�

Ben looked up at the stars for a few minutes before answering, �You know, I�ve known my daughter to be protective over children, but never have I known her to be so protective of someone that she�d willingly bring out a gun.�

�Not even with her brothers?�

Ben laughed softly before answering, �Not unless somebody decided to castrate one of them with a butter knife.�

Kaiba winced at the image, wondering if Rose hadn�t gotten her interesting ideas of torture from her father. �I wouldn�t want to be around if that ever happened.� Kaiba admitted.

�Me either, son. Me either.� Ben stood up and stretched slightly. �Would you be willing to help this old man check on the horses? My eyes aren�t what they used to be.�

Kaiba nodded, warning the old man that he wouldn�t know what to look for. �I�m not familiar with ranch life yet.� Kaiba admitted as he walked next to the old man.

�You�ve adjusted pretty well.� Ben complimented as they entered the barn.

As the two men looked at the horses, Kaiba got the feeling that there was something that the old man wanted to talk to him about. �Was there something that you wanted to talk to me about?� Kaiba questioned finally.

Ben chuckled, his eyes dancing slightly in amusement. �I didn�t want to ask you near the house since you never know who might decide to step outside.� Ben said with a chuckle. �I just wanted to know what your plans are with my daughter. I can tell that you love her very much.�

Kaiba stared at the old man, stopping dead in his tracks. �I don�t-� Kaiba started but stopped when Ben raised an eyebrow at him. �Sir, your daughter is a remarkable woman but I don�t think that I love her.�

�Then what would you call it?� Ben chuckled. �I see the look in your eyes when she�s near you. It�s not lust that I see.�

Kaiba fell silent, the old man�s words echoing in his mind. �You�re serious?� Kaiba questioned.

Ben laughed a bit before answering, �I�ve never been so serious in my life.�

The younger man was silent for a moment, thinking about every time he was with the woman. He had originally no intention on hiring her, but he decided to grant her an interview out of pure curiosity. When he saw her, the woman seemed to draw him in. If she hadn�t pushed him by giving him those damn coupons, he would have found some way to get her into his bed. �I suppose I do love her.� Kaiba admitted before looking at the older male. �If I have your permission, I�d like to continue seeing her.�

�You�ve had my permission since before you asked.� Ben answered. �Rose may be my only daughter, but I�ve never once seen her so civil to anybody. Now come on, let�s go back inside and have a beer before somebody thinks that I�m going to kill you.�
�GET OFF OF THAT DAMN BULL RIGHT NOW!�

Kaiba woke up with a start, his heart racing against his chest. As he got out of bed, he wandered over to the window and saw the moderately insane family outside. His eyes fell on one of the triplets, seeing that either Adam or Tom was on a bull that was trying like hell to throw him off.

Not even bothering to put on a shirt, Kaiba went downstairs and outside to watch. �What�s going on?� Kaiba questioned.

�The triplets decided to restart their little birthday tradition,� answered the old woman with a frown. �Tom! Get your butt off of that bull right now!�

�Two seconds, Mamma.� Rose said, her eyes eagerly fixed on her brother. �Come on, Tom!�

�Jump!�

Kaiba felt his muscles stiffen as Tom threw himself from the bull, scrambling up over the wooden fence. �Come on, Rosie Q, it�s your turn.� Tom said with a laugh. �Take the final step into being twenty four.�

Rose laughed, her eyes dancing excitedly as she looked at Kaiba. �So you decided to join the living.� Rose said with a smile.

�Yeah, just in time to see you get killed.� Kaiba said, barely watching as Adam brought in another bull. �What in the hell do you think you�re doing?�

�Tempting fate.� Rose told him with a grin. �All I gotta do is stay on the damn bull for a good eight seconds.�

�Rose! You�re going to get hurt.�

Rose looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding. �Possibly, yeah, but I�m insane enough to do it.� Rose told him before seeing the worry in his eyes. �Seto, I�m going to be okay. The moment that the damn bull gets too out of hand, I�ll get off and book it.�

While he wanted to keep arguing, to keep her from getting on the bull, Kaiba knew that he would be fighting a losing battle. Experience showed him that nothing short of threatening her would make the woman see sense. With the living embodiment of her conscience still on his adrenaline high, Kaiba was fully aware that he wasn�t going to get the other male to do any talking.

Kaiba watched as the woman got onto the bull, eagerly waiting for her brother to open the chute. �Ready?� Adam questioned with a grin.

�Just remember, I want a fucking party and prayers that the devil isn�t aware that anything happened until a good half hour after I�m dancing with angels.� Rose answered with a grin.

Laughing, Adam opened the chute and they watched as the bull shot out with Rose screaming with excitement on top of him. Rose�s screams of excitement soon turned into a scream of fear when the ropes came loose and she landed on the ground. �Get out of there, Rose!� Adam shouted as he and Tom scrambled to get into the corral.

Rose froze for a moment before trying to scramble to her feet. �Rose!� Kaiba shouted when the bull knocked the woman to the ground and twisted around to kick.

fallen_angelz: Okay, there's a lemon after I dunno how many chapters *silently admits to not keeping count*. I would like to point out that I personally find rodeos fun and that my brother and I have not held a rodeo on our birthdays. Instead, we insist on trying to kill each other which honestly isn't anything new although so far we've covered attempted murder with a wagon, trees, bikes, rocks, and various foods plus drinks that had been corrupted by too much salt or various extracts in liquids.
