Honda Ito slipped his shoes on and stood up, stretching. Small, strong arms wrapped around his body from behind and a warm kiss found its way to the back of his neck. "Hmmm Senta, don't distract me. I have to get to work. I'm already an hour late." Despite his protest he turned and captured his sweet, sexy wife close.
Reluctantly she drew back. "All right. You go work. Take the lunch box I packed while you were in the shower. I'm going to do some cooking. Some soups and casseroles maybe." She stopped and looked at him with eyes full of gentle worry. "Are you sure they are okay? I feel... unsettled."
"They are fine." He reassured. "I promise you."
"All right. But I'll still cook." She handed him the large hamper. "Share! Gambatte!" She waved and watched until her husband was out of sight. Pushing up her sleeves Senta mentally reviewed what she had in the cupboards and fridge, and decided first would be a trip to her sons’ house to drop off some of the food so that she could free up space for the feast she felt she should prepare for the upcoming night. Maybe some of her special water cabbage stew and gorse tea. For some reason she felt sure her boys would enjoy it.
Humming happily, she filled boxes with cookies, cakes, soups and casseroles, and loaded her small Kei class car. A short trip later and she was at the home she had brought into the family as her dowry, the home she grew up in when she stayed in Japan and not with her mother's family in Germany.
Since it was after ten in the morning her boys should be at school; so she knew she couldn't count on their willing - and eager - hands to help carry in the bounty, but she'd found that the promise of a few home-baked cookies could charm even the most reticent young person to help her.
She stepped from the car and looked around. The street looked deserted, but just as she resigned herself to carrying the entire load in by herself, the door to the mansion across the street opened. A slim, black-haired boy with delicate features and a haunted air stepped out carrying a small bag. Frowning slightly she assessed him. He was... wounded. It called out to the mother in her in the same way Jounouchi's broken heart, so carefully masked even today, called to her. "Excuse me!" She yelled and waved.
The boy looked up and walked towards her. "Is something wrong? May I help you with something?"
Oh what a polite, good boy! "Do... Do you live there?"
"Yes ma'am. Did you need something?"
"Oh! You are my sons' neighbor! I'm Honda Senta. Honda Hiroto and Jounouchi Katsuya are my sons." She beamed at him. "You know them of course."
"Ah, yes. In fact we had them over for dinner just Wednesday night."
"Oh it's so gratifying to hear when your children behave properly. I taught them to treat their neighbors as family." She smiled sweetly. "You didn't give me your name," she reminded.
"Oh yes ma'am. I am Otogi Ryugi." He bowed politely. "An honor to meet you."
A very good boy! Senta wanted to know this one more. "The honor is likely to be short lived," she admitted ruefully. "I waved you down to ask a great favor."
Wary, Otogi shifted back a step. "Favor?"
She saw the move and was curious. Otogi Ryugi was responding like a wounded kitten smelling milk. "Yes, I'm afraid I cooked more than I can carry. You see I supply my boys with their meals. Otherwise they would eat fast food constantly. They are still growing and need good food." A small shrug made fun of her peccadilloes. "If it is not too much trouble could you please help me carry the boxes and bags inside. I'll reward you with a dozen home-baked cookies."
Otogi was torn. He wanted to do a good deed. Honda Senta was charming and pretty. The only thing she had in common with her son Hiroto was her dark brown hair. "I'd be happy to help. No reward needed. My roommate would throw a catfit if I brought home someone else's cooking. He calls himself a hobbyist gourmet."
"Oh." She was silent while she loaded him up with a box then pushed several plastic bags onto his arms. "Then thank you." She leaned in and grabbed another box and several more bags. "There, that's everything." Making sure her keys were gripped so the door key faced out for ease, she maneuvered her tiny, over-burdened frame up the walkway.
"Uh, Honda-san are you sure you're okay with all that? I mean..."
"Oh it's fine. I carry this much all the time. I"m used to it." The older woman reassured as she fit the key in the lock, only to have the door swing open before she could push it. A red-haired girl of about eighteen wearing jeans and a pink t-shirt stood in the doorway blinking at them. "E...excuse me?"
Frowning, Senta glared at the girl. "I won't excuse you. What are you doing in my son's home? Why aren't you in school? And who are you?" She pressed forward through the door and led the way into the kitchen.
Hurrying after the woman Shizuka asked, "Y... Your sons? I... My brother Katsuya told me I could stay here. I... I got kicked out of the dorms 'cause of our dad getting violent and making a scene. You... are you Hiroto-kun's mother?" Belatedly she added, "I"m Jounouchi Shizuka and my class for today was cancelled."
"I am Hiroto and Katsuya's mother," Senta corrected quietly. "Katsuya told me what he remembers about you. He calls you Shi-chan?" Giving Otogi a smile she gestured, "Just set them on the counter. I'll handle them from there." Then, noticing the odd look in his green eyes, prompted, "Otogi Ryugi meet Jounouchi Shizuka."
"Uhm... Nice to meet you Jounouchi-san." Otogi bowed slightly after setting down his burdens.
Shizuka turned her green-gold eyes to the man. With a slight gasp, she felt her pulse flutter and her head spin. Otogi Ryugi was the most beautiful man she'd ever seen. Flirting coyly with her eyes, she forgot the other woman in the room and swayed over to him. "The pleasure is all mine."
Otogi stepped away from the come-hither look and turned to Honda-san. "Is there anything else I can do for you ma'am?" He was disconcerted to see a knowing, sorrowful look in her soft eyes.
"Not at the moment." She gave him a gentle pat on the arm and reached for her purse. Before he could protest payment, she drew out a small card holder and passed him a personal card. "If you ever need anything - even just to talk Otogi-san - call me."
Confused, Otogi took the card and, seeing the predatory red-head was about to issue the same invitation, he bowed and dashed for the door.
Without a word to the other woman Senta began to put away the food. When Shizuka began to fidget, Senta decided it was time. "You will not smoke - anything - while in this house."
"What... what are you talking about?"
"I am not as naive as you might think. I recognize the scent. My husband is a police officer, and this house is in our name. I repeat - you will not smoke anything in this house."
"What makes you think I was smoking? Katsuya or your son could have..."
"Do not attempt to smear my sons with me. I know them better than you do. My son Katsuya had an addiction problem when he was in the gang. He has been clean for ten years. My son Hiroto went through a stage of experimentation, also ten years finished. If you have an addiction you will tell me now and I will help you. If you do not and are simply a recreational or occasional user then you will not indulge in my home."
Angry and defensive Shizuka went on the attack. "Your son? Why do you keep calling Katsuya your son? He's not. My mother and father..."
"Threw him away, stole his inheritance and, rather than share it with him, gave him to me. He is mine more than he was ever or will ever be theirs. They are his egg and sperm donors. I am the mother of his heart and soul." A smile colder than any her family had ever seen touched her lips. "Were he to ask it of me I would kill them for him just as they killed his heart and almost destroyed his soul when they left him to die."
"You... you're crazy." Shizuka gasped.
"No child, I am a mother. Mothers live, die and kill for their children every minute of every day. Do you not know a mother's love?" Pity moved through her. No wonder this girl was so... empty.
"My mom loves me! She... she's just busy working and taking care of my dad."
"Then tell me child, where was she when your father ruined your arrangements at the dorm? And where is she now when, for all she knows, you are homeless? Were you my daughter I would have stopped him. If I couldn't do that then I would have thrown him from the house and brought you home. He would feel the cold of the street before my child."
That shut Shizuka up. Her mother had refused her calls at work and had hung up on her when she called home. "I..." Left with no argument she turned and stalked out of the room. A moment later Senta heard the front door slam.
Bending back to her task Senta felt her heart break. Poor child, as wounded as Katsuya had been, perhaps more so because there were losses and betrayals only a woman could ever know. She would have to tell her husband that their new daughter needed more love and care than any of their other children.

Hiroto finished with his Advanced Criminal Psychology class and headed to the library to work on his research paper that was due in a few weeks. He had the outline completed finally but needed to find a few more supporting articles to meet the bibliography requirement set by the teacher as well as a few more supporting facts for his view on the subject. He had two hours before his last class of the day, Gender and Crime, then he had to head off to meet his dad for any last minute instructions before heading to work at the gym. Under one of the trees outside the library he noticed Shizuka flirting with two guys he knew by reputation only.
Shizuka was new on campus and probably didn't have a clue the two guys she was flirting with were the most scummy drug dealers in the entire school. With an inward sigh at the extra bother the girl was going to be, he hurried across to her just in time to see her hand them a few bills.
Outraged but not shocked, he grabbed her hand in a painful grip. "Oh fuck no you don't. You're not doing this - not to my family and not to Katsuya. You stupid bitch! He's in line to be a lawyer; he won a top scholarship. He'd throw it away to follow you down your drug-addicted path just to save you." Giving the dealers a hard look that dared them to say anything he snapped, "She's off the list. I catch anyone - anyone - selling to her and I'll make sure all of Domino Police knows who did it. Got me? She's from the house of Honda Ito."
That made the two men pale and back up three steps. "Yeah man, didn't know. We... we'll pass the word around. She won't get none from around here." Honda knew that his father's exploits in keeping drugs away from Jounouchi were legendary - and terrifying.
Keeping a firm grip on her hand Honda yanked Shizuka beside him and literally dragged her along. "Fucking hell, a drug addicted slut. Just what Katsuya needs." He gave her a withering glare that made her drop her eyes in shame.
"I'm not addicted. It's just a little blow. Your mom pissed me off when she said I couldn't smoke and I needed to take the edge off." It was a lie. She'd been using for years but for some reason she didn't want hm to know.
"Blow? Cocaine? Are you fucking stupid? There is no such thing as 'just a little' cocaine." He stopped his rant to do a double take. "You met my mom? Oh fuck, what the hell were you trying to smoke?"
"Just a little weed, maybe laced. I dunno. Friend gave it to me." She shoved her hands into her pockets. "Not a big deal Hiroto-kun. Everyone does it."
Resisting the urge to strangle the stupid girl, Honda continued to drag her home. "How did you meet my mom?"
"Class was cancelled so I went back home. She came in with a bunch of stuff. Brought this gorgeous guy - Otogi Ryugi - in with her."
"O...Otogi knows my mom?" The brunet was completely stunned. It was an alien concept, something he'd never even considered.
"Well she gave him her card and told him to call her. If he does do you think she'll give me his number? I'd really like to get to know him." No point in hiding her interest.
Honda didn't mention that Otogi lived across the street. No way was he letting this... this... wreck of a human near the other man. She might drag him deeper into the pit than he was. God knows he was wounded enough to fall down that slippery slope.
One of the things Hiroto had done the day before was review the case files. Even though his father had tried to stop him from reading Otogi's, he'd insisted. He wanted to know the rate of escalation and any triggers or patterns. What he'd read made him sick to his stomach with pain and rage. To think that the beautiful face had been beaten so badly that his jade eyes were obscured by swelling... that his body had been so damaged and torn he'd required stitches inside and out... it was enough to make Hiroto ache to feel the Miyake twin's broken and bleeding bodies under his fists. It was only after several hours of coaching by his dad that he was able to control his emotions and channel them towards putting them behind bars.
He set that aside, he had to. He had a job to do and thinking of the pain that Otogi had endured would only complicate it. Besides he had a more immediate issue. "Shizuka, I've told you no guys in the house. Now I'm telling you, no drugs. No blow, no weed, no nothing. If you're addicted I'll help you get through it. If you're not and you're a recreational user I'll make sure you won't get the chance to fuck my brother up with your entertainment. I suggest you start working out at a gym, volunteer, or hell even study. But whatever it is I'll be watching you because I owe Katsuya my life and I'll be damned if I let you fuck him up worse than your family already has. Especially now that he's found genuine happiness with Kaiba and has a shot at a great future." And god if that didn't sound weird, but if it worked for Jou then Hiroto was all for it.
"I would never hurt Katsuya! And I'm not an addict. I'll show you and your mother!" Pure bravado and pure bullshit.
"You do that." Because he wouldn't let it be any other way.

Seto sat sipping cinnamon and cream coffee in the campus coffee shop while he read the Business and Financial pages in the morning newspaper. He’d been waiting for twenty three minutes when the jubilant blond trotted over and plopped down beside him.
“Man I thought that class would never end. Ya been waitin’ long?”
"Longer than I've ever had to before." At least for a 'date.'
"Oh, sorry about that. So, whatcha havin'?"
"Cinnamon and cream latte. What would you like?"
"Ooh vanilla chai tea sounds great." Jou waved to the girl taking orders. "Yo, Jen, gimme my regular will ya?"
"He already ordered it. It's on the way," she called back cheerfully.
Jou gave him a wry look. "If ya ordered why did you ask?"
"I didn't know what you drank, but since I've seen you here at least two dozen times and she always has it ready, I thought you had a regular. I told her that you were joining me and to make it as soon as she saw you."
"Makes sense I suppose. So... what's yer next class?"
"I have a conversational french class next. You?"
"Ethics. Borin' as hell. Hey, you speak French already don't ya? Think I heard that once."
"Yes, but it's required I take a second language course."
A playful look entered the blonde's eyes as they became heavy lidded. "Whatcha say we skip class an'..." He broke off when a man stepped up to the table, interrupting them. "Miyake, what's up?"
"I was wondering if you had a few minutes? I am confused about the last question on the Ethics assignment." The killer asked politely. Seto fought the urge to confront the bastard and protect Jounouchi. He had to let tonight play out. It wasn't safe here and now.
"Ah well..." Jounouchi floundered for a moment. He really didn't want to take time to help the other student but he also couldn't think of a way out of it. "I.."
"He's busy - with me. He also won't be going to class." Seto gave the man a smile so sharp that it made the hair on Jounouchi's nape stand on end. "We're going to do some... private studying." Seto could see that infuriated the other man. Good, let him - them - get angry. Let them get murderous - he would be ready for them tonight. He wanted them to come after him. It would give him incredible satisfaction to rip them to shreds.
"I see," Taro said woodenly. "Then it's true? Not a joke or something? Superman's gay?"
Not in the least abashed, Jounouchi leaned back in his chair. "Well, I don't know about Superman, but I know I'm... a recent convert. Ain't goin' back either. I like this side of the fence." He gave Seto a warm smile. "I love the company I keep." A lecherous taunt crossed his mobile face as he pseudo-whispered to his Ethics classmate. "I wondered how come he tasted so sweet and spicy. Now I know... he drinks cinnamon cream."
That was too much for the monster-in-man's-clothing. Without another word Miyake bolted out of the coffee shop.
"You truly have no shame," Seto observed. It should disturb him, but somehow it made him feel warm to know Jounouchi was so open about loving and sexing him.
"What's ta be ashamed of? Suki da. Part of it's sex. People enjoy sex, most are just too darn tied up in what people think ta admit it or have it honestly." Jou shrugged. "Since yer gonna be th' only person I'm with for th' rest of eternity I figure the universe better get used to it ‘cause I ain't changin'."
Amazed, Seto asked, "You really think you can force people to accept us? Homosexuality in general?"
"Hell, I don't care if they accept us or not. And people gotta live with their own thoughts. Hate's a waste. I'm just sayin' I won't hide lovin' you or bein' with you. I ain't ashamed of lovin' you so people need to get over it. After a while it will seem like every day to most people and they won't even notice. So, I don't wanna change th' world, but I ain't letting th' people in it change me either."
"You. Are. A. Naive. Fool."
"If ya say so." Seeing as his drink had not arrived yet, Katsuya called, "Hey Jen, put it in a to go cup will ya? M'fiance and I are goin' for a walk. Oh an' bring him a to go cup fer his too." The lecherous look returned. "Now... I think before ya get rid of that van we should try out th' seats that fold back inta a bed."
"You shouldn't think. It strains your limited capacity."
"Hmmm..." Jounouchi grinned as their go cups were delivered. "Wanna know what I'm thinkin' now?"
Sighing, Seto poured his hot coffee into the thick paper cup and gave him a wry look. "I'm sure you'll tell me."
"I'm thinkin' yer gonna be really spicy sweet from yer coffee. I'd like ta try it with my chai tea... and I'm thinkin' sixty-nine is a great number."
Cheeks flushed peony pink and heart fluttering, Seto rolled his eyes. "Figures. But how about sixty-eight and I owe you one?"
"Hmmm... let’s negotiate in th' van."
Stifling a laugh, fighting down the bubble of hope that threatened to send more cracks through his wall of doubt, Seto let the blond grab his hand and lead him to the parking lot. Good thing the windows in front were tinted and the ones in back were covered or they likely would have gotten arrested. Jounouchi Katsuya was a loud, athletic lover. Something he'd never seen in all the times he'd watched from his bedroom window. Perhaps it was just the venue. If so he was going to have to get another outrageous van. He was going to miss this one and the way it inspired his blond.
Seto's phone alarm brought him from his semi-doze. "Hmmm we have to be at the lawyer's in fifteen minutes." But he didn't move from his comfortable sprawl. He felt more relaxed and at peace than he had in a very long time. Turning over to where he rested half on top of the nearly boneless blond, he offered, "Lets skip it for today and stay here. Or better yet let's go home." He frotted lightly against Jou's hip to make his offer explicit.
Golden eyes gleamed at him from between a forest of thick lashes. "Nah, if I let ya distract me ya'll convince yourself I let myself be distracted to run out on ya. Nope." Spanking the cute ass with enough force to warm without stinging he rolled away from temptation. "Get dressed." Seeing the considering look on the too pretty face Jou shook his head. "Forget it. As much as I want to sex you until we both scream, I'll be totally happy for the rest of our lives if all we do is what we just did. But if I don't convince you, don't show you yer mine, I'll be miserable for eternity. Sexy distraction won't work. So get dressed."
"You're trying to out think me. It won't work. You are above average intelligence but you are not a genius. I am." Seto pointed out as he wriggled into his pants.
Jou grinned at that and slipped his shirt over his head. He hadn't had to do more than pull his pants up. He'd been too anxious to taste Seto to worry about getting down to skin, well his own anyway. He'd had Seto stripped in less than a minute of getting into the dragon-mobile. "If ya say so," he agreed affably. He felt too damn mellow to try to get into a battle of wits with his sexy cinnamon lover. "But we're still goin' ta th' lawyers. Sooner I get it all on paper th' sooner we can go ahead with th' rest."
Leaving his shirt unbuttoned Seto hunted for his socks. Spying the missing one up by Jou he grunted, "Toss me that."
"Sure." He balled it up and threw it at Seto's head. "Hey... uhm... can I ask ya somethin'?"
Masking his sudden tension, Seto nodded. "What?"
"Are ya still hot for Atemu?"
That brought the brunet head up warily. "I... Hot? No. I have good memories of our time together and they make me hot, and there have been times when I've been lonely and those memories made me wish he would call me but... hot for him? No. I find you much more sexually attractive."
"Ah... okay I can live with that. Uhm..." The blond hesitated then blurted, "How do I compare as a lover?
"There is no way to compare," Seto said honestly. "He and I had been together for years and knew each others moves. It was like a dance or a ritual. Yes, more like a ritual. Everything planned and controlled by him. You... you are like... like an uncharted wilderness: exciting, new and completely different than anything I ever knew before." Seeing the slight dim to the warmth in Jou's eyes, he decided that a little more truth wouldn't hurt. "I'm glad you're different. To be honest, even though the sex with Atemu was loving and meaningful, it was not... hot. I like... hot."
Jou's eyes brightened again and he crowed, "Yeah, so he was a boring lay and I'm not. Hahaha! So now I just gotta getcha ta trust me an' yer all mine."
Finally dressed, Seto climbed into the driver's seat. "You. Are. A. Fool." Then seeing the idiot grin spread wider, he snapped, "Buckle up. If you hit your head you'll lose more brain cells."
Still grinning like a fool, the blond crawled into the front seat and buckled up. Seto maneuvered into traffic and was well past halfway to his attorney's office when he realized that the effervescent man beside him had grown unusually quiet. He darted a quick look at Jou and then turned back to the road. In a voice harsher than he meant, Seto taunted, "Just realizing I'm calling your bluff? Say the word and I'll pull over and let you out?"
"Huh? Oh bluff? What bluff? I'm.. I'm just thinkin' is all."
"I can tell. Your face looks like you sucked on a persimmon."
"Nah, nothin' sour... just yer spicy sweet dick. That's just... I... hmmm..." He tapered off into his thoughts again.
Seto let him. The moment of truth was fast approaching. Another ten minutes and the idiot would take off. The fact made his chest ache and his stomach churn, but the brunet would never show it. With a sharp turn that sent them both straining against their seat belts, he pulled into the spot he knew was reserved for him. "Let's go." But he didn't exit the van until Jounuchi stood at the door waiting for him. Didn't the fool know he'd hesitated that long to give him time to run?
As they walked through the large wooden doors, Seto's decisive step faltered when Jounouchi's strong, calloused hand found his and clasped tightly. Of course he didn't return the hold, but he didn't pull away either. This was all up to the blond.
The receptionist greeted them with polite deference and showed them in to the lawyer's office with no waiting. It was obvious they were expected. His lawyer - one of them - stood and bowed politely. "Kaiba-san and... Jounouchi-san? An honor to serve you on this auspicious occasion." Gesturing to the chairs across from his desk, he generously suggested, "May I offer you some tea?"
It was time to put this farce to an end. Briskly Seto shook his head. This will teach the air-head to mess with his emotions. "No time. If you have the contract ready we'll both sign it."
"Of course." The older man drew out a thick contract. "It is just as requested Kaiba-san. The signature line is on the very front page. Sign and date please. If you had your stamp... ah but never mind, your signature will do."
"Thank you." He picked up the fountain pen the attorney laid next to the stack of paper. With pure bravado Seto signed his name with precision. With a smile that would have put a buzz saw to shame with sharpness and teeth, he handed Jounouchi the pen. "Your turn."
He saw Jou tense, and when he took the pen, he audibly gulped. In what looked like slow motion the pen hovered over the remaining signature line for a long moment before slowly lowering to set on the desk. "Seto I need ta talk to ya before I sign this."
Tearing pain in his chest, Seto stood and gestured for the lawyer to leave. He did so at almost a dead run. Then the tall brunet turned to look out the window, hoping the blond would not pick up on his pain and disappointment. He had almost believed... "As I expected. Game over huh? You can suck my dick all day, say you love me, but when it comes down to the wire you can't really be what you're not, can't force yourself to make a commitment to someone you despise." When there was no response he forced himself to say calmly, "Get out."
The response, when it came, wasn't the closing of the door. Instead it was a strong arm wrapping around his waist and the feeling of Jou nestling into his back. "Nah, I ain't goin' nowhere - yet. See, ya said somethin' in th' van that made me think... I gotta tell ya something important. If you still want me ta sign that contract after I tell ya then... then I'll sign it an' be the happiest, most grateful man in the world."
"Really? What did I say then to make you offer to leave your 'soul mate?'"
"Ya said... I was gonna lose more brain cells." Jou took a breath. "Yeah, probably. Yer a genius and you take care of yerself. I... I'm smart, but not a genius. I could probably be smarter but..." He broke off and nuzzled into the strong back again. "Ya remember I told ya I was in a gang?" A nod answered him so he continued. "I... I was in th' gang fer years. I... I got addicted ta crack when I was in there. I'm straight now; m'dad saw t'that. And I ain't got no need ta go back to it. But th' long term effects of that. I... I lost some smarts. I... I've been clean fer eight years, two months and twenty-four days. I do keep count of the days Kaiba. It's important ta me." The blond stepped back, leaving the warmth and comfort he wanted so badly. "So, now I gotta ask. Do ya want me ta sign that or not? Can ya live with me knowin' I was like that? That there is always a risk of me doin' it again? All it would take is one puff and..."
Seto was shocked and stunned. Jounouchi wasn't backing out? He was confessing to being an addict before signing the contract? He thought Seto wouldn't want him because of something that happened over eight years previous? "You are an idiot. Sign it. What happened back then doesn't matter to me. It made you who you are today. You are strong because you battled your way through it. You're smart enough for me. You don't drool or crap your pants. And I'd never let you backslide. If I ever thought it I'd chain you in a hospital until you came to your senses." He spun and gripped the blonde's shoulders. "So sign the thing and let's go. I've worked up an appetite for vanilla..." Seeing the darkness leaving the golden eyes and all hesitancy fading Seto added, "ice cream."
"Tease!" Jou exclaimed, then softly added, "Suki da, Seto." Without glancing at the document for more than half a second to check for placement, Jounouchi scrawled his name on the line.
"You should read it," Seto, the ultimate businessman, cautioned.
"Nah, I trust you. I don't ever wanna see that thing again. It's fer you not me," Jou told him firmly then, as if the contract meant nothing to him, asked, "Hey Seto, if we're not going to ...uh... well... make out, what are we goin' ta do while we eat ice cream?"
Seto pulled out the sheet of paper he'd taken from Jou earlier. "Go over your list." He ushered Jou out the door and, with a nod to the hovering lawyer and receptionist, led him back out to the car.
"Oh." Jou pulled a face. "Gonna hafta wait on th' reception. Th' rings an' tickets are gonna wipe me out."
"You will use an account setup in your name - but clearing every purchase through me before hand of course- and you will have to put the money back plus interest lost." Seto gave him a cool look.
"No, dat's not right. I told ya, I don't want your money so I'll pay..."
Seto shook his head pityingly and, in words that would set the entire tone of their relationship, said, "It was in the contract."
"Yer kiddin'," Katsuya gave him a disbelieving glance..
"No, I'm not kidding." The brunet gave him a lofty look. "You should have read it. Pre-marriage finances were spelled out clearly on page eleven paragraphs two through eight. Post-marriage finances were spelled out in pages thirteen through twenty."
"Oh, well..." That made Jou pause for a second. "Ya'll tell me what I need ta know right?"
Unholy glee danced wickedly in Seto's blue eyes at the naivete of the blond and the absolute fun he could have. Jounouchi didn't know what he had let himself in for... Idly the brunet wondered if it would dawn on the blond about the time Seto demanded he change his name from Jounouchi to Kaiba. Keeping his voice absolutely steady, not a hint of laughter leaking through, he assured, "Of course Katsuya."
Jou gave him a smile and nod as he settled into the monster van. His heart lit up when he saw the evil laughter that his love couldn't quite hide. Seto probably didn't realize it, but deep inside Jou knew that his plan to give his soul mate everything he could ever need - reassurance, love, and the ability to control Jounouchi's actions and reactions - had worked perfectly. Seto was now confident that not only that he was in control, but that Jou could not simply walk away or trespass his personal boundaries.
By signing that contract - by not reading it and having Seto interpret it for him - he gave Seto what he needed most. Seto would dictate the terms of their relationship. That control was vital to Seto's happiness and the future of their love. Abused and molested children had problems with those very issues when they grew up. Now Seto could let him know his needs without revealing -to himself or Jou - that he had been Atemu's victim.
And about Atemu. "Eh Seto? That kid at th' college. Moutou-san?"
"Yes?" Seto went rigid. That was not a topic he wanted to discuss.
"I've seen 'im before, maybe outside your house earlier, but... well I'm not sure. But I know I've seen picture of him. I went into a game shop an' there was a guy who looked like Moutou-san, but older. Like thirty something. Same weird hair. Had red eyes. Was that your ex? Atemu?"
"You suck at judging age. And his eyes are sherry brown, not red. But there are only two people with that crazy hair style. So yes, probably."
"Well, I think I'm right about th' age. He's short and has a crazy hair style, but he has that look kinda like a smoker? Skin looks older than twenties. Like he spent a long time in the sun when he was young. And his eyes are crazy red, but he could have been wearing contacts. Some people do I guess." Jou shrugged. "Don't really matter. Just wanted ta let ya know I'd met him, in case he says somethin'. I don't wantcha thinkin' I was meetin' yer ex on th' side."
"Hnnn..." That is what Seto would have thought too. So he was glad Jou mentioned it; although he hated the weakness it implied. "Whatever." He gave the blond a sidelong glance. "Where do you want to get ice cream?" He kept his glance on him just long enough to see a naughty smirk spread across Jou's face.
"Your place... Ice cream in the hot tub naked with you..."
"Idiot horn-dog." But he turned towards home.
