Notes: I know you all are probably rather upset at me now
for Seto’s total 180, and his lame excuses for cheating on Yami. But he didn’t
start cheating in the previous chapter, that happened in chapter 7 because of
Seto’s ‘business’ trip. But any and all flames from now on will be used to
roast marshmallows. Or Shizuka’s stupidity…
Pairings: Seto x Yami (Prideshipping), Yuugi x Ryou
(Heartshipping)

Basically a thank you to all that reviewed
thus far. That’s all really.

A couple days
later, Yami was doing a little better and almost ready to go home. Yukio was
still in the NICU, but his color was looking better as well and was almost
ready to head down to the nursery for the first time. The doctors all gave him
a good outlook, and expected him to do pretty well over the next week or two.
“So how is
he? And when can he come home?” Seto asked, looking at the nurse as she fed
Yukio in the incubator.
“He’s doing
a lot better now, Mr. Kaiba. His color looks very good, and he seems to be more
alert now. Tomorrow we’ll be bringing him into the nursery, but he’ll still be
in the incubator.” The nurse replied, smiling for a moment.
“Well
that’s good. Is Yami up to seeing any visitors?” Seto wondered, looking at the
nurse for a moment. He had a feeling that Anzu, Jou, Mai and the others would
be coming to visit him. But right now he wanted to make sure he was alright.
The nurse
shrugged, and then looked at Seto. It was up to Yami really, she figured it
would be fine. But it all depended on how the former Pharaoh felt after all.
She wasn’t one to speak for how her patients felt.
“It’s up to
him really. But I’m sure a few visitors won’t hurt, just please don’t get him
worked up. I don’t need to bring him back to the ICU. He is making a good
recovery and so far is doing really well otherwise as well.” She replied before
removing the bottle from the incubator, Yukio having had his fill.
“I’m only
allowing three of his friends in there. As you said, we don’t want him to get
worked up. I’ll just pass along the information.” Seto started before walking
out of the NICU.
The nurse
nodded, watching him leave the NICU after a few moments. She knew that Seto
cared for Yami. Or supposedly he did anyway, she didn’t know about the whole
cheating incident that happened a few weeks earlier. And it was probably best
that way, considering how everyone else involved disliked the CEO to some
extent now.

“Hey… are
you up for some company?” Yuugi asked, walking in with Ryou and Mai. Jou was in
the gift shop to buy a few gifts for Yami and Yukio.
“Hmm…
Aibou! I didn’t think I’d see you. I mean since you were put on bed rest and
all. Trust me… it’s no fun. You can’t do anything…” Yami replied, looking at
his former hikari.
Ryou just
chuckled for a moment, putting his arm around Yuugi’s waist. He knew how Yuugi
was doing, but perhaps it was better than Yami did. The white haired teen
didn’t really talk too much to Yami for most of his pregnancy, only that one
time when they found out about Yukio.
“Well Ryou
decided I could break bed rest for this. Where is Kami-chan anyway?” Yuugi
asked, moving to sit in a chair near the foot of the bed. Mostly because he
knew Seto would kill him if he was close to Yami.
“She’s with
Mokuba right now. But I’ll see her later when I go home tomorrow. Yukio won’t
be able to go home for another week or two.” Yami answered, smiling for a
moment.
Mai smiled
in return, standing near the bed as she looked at Yami. She knew she was in no
danger of being murdered by Seto. One, she was straight and had no feelings for
Yami outside of friendship. And two, she respected both Seto and Yami too much
to cause any harm to their relationship. Even though it came as a major
surprise to her, she had nothing against it.
“So how are
you feeling?” Mai asked, looking at the former Pharaoh for a moment. She was
genuinely concerned for him, but the color in his cheeks did return. She had
heard about the blood loss from Seto.
“Tired, but
otherwise fine. I can’t wait to go home though… I’m sick of beds.” Yami spoke,
looking up at her.
“Well
considering you were on bed rest for awhile, I bet you are tired of beds.
However where will you sleep?” Seto grinned, leaning against the door jam.
Right now he was trying to make amends, although it felt like a failing effort.
Yami turned
his gaze, only to nod in response to Seto’s statement. How would Seto know how
long he was on bed rest? He left when he was a little over seven months along.
He sighed to himself as he ran his thumb over the now bare left hand ring
finger. He still had a lot of thinking to do, and forgiving Seto was somewhere
up there with getting hit by lightning. Maybe not that bad, but it would take
quite awhile to do it.
“I don’t
know. I was going to ask you the same thing…” Yami muttered, keeping his gaze
focused on Yuugi, Ryou and Mai. In a way he couldn’t wait to get out of the
hospital, but he also didn’t want to talk to Seto right now.
Seto
frowned for a moment, putting his hand on Yami’s shoulder. He did feel bad for
what he did, and he did want to make up for what he did. But how could he do
that if his lover was giving him the cold shoulder? A sigh escaped his lips,
still trying to resolve his problem. He was aware that the other was still
upset, and rightfully so. But he didn’t want their relationship to end.
“Yami…
don’t do this. I can change… it won’t happen again…” Seto sighed, looking at
the former Pharaoh. He really had nothing else to say at the moment, it was
obviously very tough for him to come up with the right thing after all.
“We went
over this... there is no reason to sound like a broken record, Seto. Give me
time to recover both physically and emotionally alright? I only ask you that
much… please respect that.” Yami finished, not wanting to start a fight in
front of the group.
Seto just
nodded, remaining quiet for now. The discussion could wait until later. Right
now he figured Yami did need his friends more than anything. Although he didn’t
approve of one of them, perhaps that was one reason Jou didn’t enter the room
yet. Or he really was in the gift shop, no one really knew for sure. But
frankly the CEO didn’t care about what Jou was up to anyway.
“Perhaps we
should come at another time… it was nice seeing you again.” Mai spoke, moving
out of the room before anyone could see her changing form. She was about as far
along as Yuugi, if not a month less.
“Yeah. Oh,
and don’t worry Mou Hitori no Boku I’ll let you know when I have mine and
Ryou’s baby.” Yuugi smiled, putting a hand on Yami’s shoulder for a moment. Was
it a sign of friendship, or did he still have feelings for him? No one knew.
“I know you
will, Aibou. Hopefully I can be there.” Yami smiled for a moment, the first
time in awhile actually. But no one was complaining.
Ryou smiled
before leading Yuugi out into the hall. He was worried about him too actually;
he just didn’t want to say it in front of Yami. It was very evident that Yami
had a lot more to worry about than the welfare of his former hikari. Of course the white haired teen didn’t think
much about it really.
“That was
nice of them to stop by… I’m sure we’ll be seeing them again.” Seto muttered,
not really talking to anyone in particular. He just hated feeling this way; the
CEO was not weak by any point whatsoever. He just felt it at this moment.
~*~
The next
day found Yami getting ready to leave the hospital, but it was also a bitter
sweet moment. He was happy that he was getting out, but Yukio was still going
to be in for another week or so. However he was out of the NICU, so that was a
good thing. That was about the only good news that the former Pharaoh got.
“Are you
ready to go? I promise that we’ll see Yukio again soon…” Seto started, getting
the few things that Yami’s friends left for him.
“I’m ready…
and I know we’ll see him again. I’m not worried about that at all…” Yami
started, looking at Seto. He was calmer than he was earlier, but again he was
still not at the point of giving forgiveness just yet.
Seto nodded
slowly before leading Yami out of his ICU room. He made sure that Mokuba didn’t
allow too many visitors to the mansion; he wasn’t sure how Yami would like
being greeted by a lot of people. Although it was just welcoming him home, it
wasn’t anything major like a birthday party or anything of the sort. He then
smiled when he saw Jeeves standing there with Kamilah.
“Hey
Kami-chan. Are you happy to see me again?” Yami asked, smiling at their adopted
daughter.
“Da!”
Kamilah smiled, holding out her arms while she was being held by Jeeves. She
was happy to see him again for sure. She did feel bad that she couldn’t do much
to help him earlier, but she felt better now that he seemed fine.
Yami
smiled, moving to pick her up carefully. He was still a little sore from the
incision, but he knew to be careful so he didn’t irritate it. Besides, he did
miss holding the one year old. Some things did take precedence over his
welfare.
“Just be
careful, Kami-chan. Da is still a little tired and sore.” Seto spoke softly,
not trying to sound like it was a warning tone. He wasn’t sure about the tired
part, but he did know Yami must have been sore still from the incision and all.
“I’m fine…
she’s not hurting me at all.” Yami spoke before kissing Kamilah’s forehead. It
was taking him for a loop though, why Seto was suddenly getting caring all of a
sudden again. Perhaps he was starting to see the error of his ways. Only time
would tell though.
“Alright…
just let me know if you’re in pain.” Seto spoke, holding the door open for Yami
and Kamilah. He watched them as Yami put Kamilah in her car seat. He then
closed the door, now watching Yami as he moved into the passenger seat.
Seto sighed
before getting into the drivers side of his car, it was the same red car that
he bought about a year or so ago during the whole business with the Orichalcos
and other odd things that occurred at that time. But right now he shrugged that
off and soon pulled out of the hospital parking lot. In about a week or two,
Yukio would finally be with them in the car. But right now they had to wait,
and that was the hardest part. He just prayed that he made it that long. And if
he did, what would be happening to their family now? Only time will tell.

Other notes: Heh… slight hint of Puzzleshipping in this. But
it won’t stay that way! I’m keeping the Prideshipping in this fic.
Oh, and if you all are wondering what the NICU is, it means
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It’s generally an area in the hospital where
preemies or sick newborn full term babies get treated for various illnesses.
