Chapter Eleven
~~~~~~~~~~~~Seto’s~Dream~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Are you ready yet, mutt?”
asks Kaiba pushing his dark sunglasses further up on his nose. He wears a long
black leather trench coat with black leather pants and a black cotton pullover
shirt. He has two gun holsters strapped to his thighs, but both are empty
seeing as his guns are in his hands.
“How
many times do I have to tell you that I’m not a mutt?” asks Jou coming into the
room wearing a black long-sleeved sweater and black leather pants. He finishes
buckling the holster to his left thigh as he walks. “Okay. I’m ready.”
Kaiba
puts his guns into his holsters and looks up and down Jou’s body.
Jou
grabs his two guns from the coffee table and places them in his holsters on his
thighs. He lifts his sunglasses and puts them on. “What about you? Are you
ready?”
“I was
born ready. Now let’s go! We have a job to do!” exclaims Kaiba.
“What is
the job today?” asks Jou.
“We’ve
been hired for a hit,” says Kaiba, “You don’t have any problems with that, do
you?”
“No… at
least we’re not bodyguards again! I hate guard duty,” says Jou following Kaiba
out of the apartment and into the elevator, “Who’s the job?”
“Some
Senator from America,” says Kaiba.
“Do you
have any problems with doing a hit? Cause if you do, you better let me know
now,” says Jou.
“It’s no
problem. It’s just a job.”
Seto wakes
up and looks at the clock by his bed. He moans when he realizes that it’s no
where near time to get up for the day, but get up he does… just long enough to
type the dreams along with their corresponding date and time onto his laptop.
Then he returns to bed and to the awaiting arms of sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Seto’s~Dream~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Follow the white rabbit,
Neo…” Kaiba reads the words aloud from the computer screen. “White rabbit?”
A knock
on the door distracts Kaiba from his computer, and he moves to meet his buyer,
passing him a disk.
“We’re
going out tonight… Care to join us?” The girl turns so that the white rabbit
tattoo on her shoulder can be seen.
“Follow
the white rabbit… yes, I’ll go,” says Kaiba. He follows the small group to a
club where he meets an attractive woman named Trinity. He is taken to a meeting
with the most famous hacker in the universe.
“My name
is Morpheus,” says Jou looking at Kaiba with a smug expression.
“Your
name is Katsuya Jonouchi,” says Kaiba.
“Wrong,
Neo,” says Jou.
“My name
is Seto Kaiba,” says Kaiba.
“Can’t
you just play along?” asks Jou sighing.
“What am
I to play along with? What kind of weird dream is this, Katsuya?”
“It’s a
fantasy.”
“A
fantasy? Fantasy of what?” asks Kaiba.
“This is
a movie set, Seto,” says Jou, “We’re playing out the Matrix.”
“I don’t
want to play this game,” says Kaiba.
Jou
slumps his shoulders. “Fine…”
Kaiba
sighs. “Maybe another day, puppy… I’ll let you replay this fantasy another day.
I promise.”
Jou
smiles happily.

Seto wakes
up again. This time, after typing up the dream, he stays awake and heads to his
office to work. That’s where he is when Katsuya finds him. He hikes an eyebrow
at the tray the blond carries.
“I brought
you breakfast,” says Katsuya, “No bagels for you today! I made a large
breakfast for Mokuba already. Do you ever feed him?”
“Of course
I do!”
“He inhaled
it so fast I wasn’t sure!” exclaims Katsuya setting the tray down on the desk
beside Seto, “By the way…” He pulls a file folder from beneath his shirt and
places it beside the tray. “I finished translating those dreams Mokuba’s been
having. Have there been more?”
“Uh… yes,”
says Seto opening a file on his computer, “He’s been typing them on my laptop,
and I’ve been transferring the file over here.” He prints the newest dreams and
points to the printer for Katsuya to grab the papers when they emerge from the
printer.
Katsuya
stands beside the printer watching it work as Seto grabs the plate of eggs and
sausages and starts to eat it.
“Are you
this good at making dinners as well?” asks Seto quickly between bites.
“Yes!”
“You’ll
cook dinner tonight!” exclaims Seto firmly.
“Can I
invite the guys over?” asks Katsuya turning to look at Seto as the last sheet
of paper emerges from the printer.
“As long as
they all behave!”
Katsuya
snatches all the papers from the printer. “What would you like for dinner?”
“Whatever
you cook best,” says Seto, “And inform the cook that you will be cooking
tonight. She’ll go buy whatever ingredients you need.”
“Great! I’m
going to the game shop later. Can Mokuba come with?”
“On one
condition…”
“What’s
that?” asks Katsuya.
Seto sets
his empty plate on the tray and takes the coffee cup from it. “You must promise
me that you will not let him… or Yugi… do anything… other than hold hands.”
“Huh?”
Katsuya gives Seto a confused look. “Are you saying you’re going to allow
Mokuba and Yugi?”
“If Yugi
tries anything with Mokuba, I will kill him!” exclaims Seto.
Katsuya
quickly embraces Seto being careful not to spill the coffee. “Thanks! Yugi will
be ecstatic! He really does care for your little brother, you know! And I
promise you, he won’t hurt Mokuba! Now we just need to get you dating!”
“I don’t
have time to date!” exclaims Seto setting his coffee cup down so he can wrap
his arms around Katsuya.
“But yet
you still have time to rescue me,” says Katsuya pulling away.
“Do you
need rescuing now?” asks Seto softly.
Katsuya
smiles. “A part of me, but I don’t know if you could save that part.”
“Save it
from what? What part?”
“Save it
from loneliness.” Katsuya walks towards the door. He turns towards Seto and
before he ducks out of the office, he adds, “My heart.”
Seto
pinches himself to see if he’s dreaming. He stands up quickly and hurries to
the door just in time to watch Mokuba and Katsuya leaving together. He
whispers, “Katsuya…”
The door
closes soundlessly.
Seto
returns to his office to finish the muffin and coffee left on his breakfast
tray. Then he sits down to continue working.
After
nearly an hour of working, Seto falls out of his chair in a faint.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Seto’s~Dream~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey, Spike!” exclaims Jou
popping out of the cockpit of the Bebop.
“What is
it now, Jet?” asks Kaiba sighing.
“How’s
the hunt for Vash the Stampede going?” asks Jou.
Kaiba
shakes his head. “Lousy! I can’t find a single trace of him!”
Jou
plops down on the couch.
Kaiba
falls onto the couch beside Jou. “What are you thinking?”
“I’m
thinking we should have one last look around and then find another bounty,”
says Jou, “If he’s this hard to find, we’ll just have to wait until he comes
out in the open to track him down.”
“Maybe…
but still… if we wait! Sixty billion double dollars!” exclaims Kaiba leaning
back and throwing his arms over the back of the couch.
“I know…
that’s a lot of money, Spike,” says Jou.
“You’ve
got that right, Jet!” exclaims Kaiba, “But let’s do one more search. You
haven’t seen Faye and Ed around, have you?”
“Faye
went off after her own bounty. I happened to let slip about a large group of
intergalactic thieves that have a fair price attached to them. Faye went off
after them, and she took Ed with her,” says Jou, “Ein is still roaming around
the ship somewhere though. Maybe we could use his nose to track down Vash!”
“Good
idea! I’ll find the mutt!” exclaims Kaiba standing and heading out of the room.
Jou
sighs. “At least he didn’t call me a mutt!”
After a
few minutes, Kaiba comes back in carrying a Welsh corgi.
“Ready?”
asks Jou standing.
“Always!”
exclaims Kaiba.
Jou and
Kaiba head off with the dog to go searching for their target.
“What
was it like…?”
“Huh?”
Jou blinks at Kaiba.
“Having
a family that loved you. You did once, before your parents split up,” says
Kaiba, “They cared for you. What was it like?”
“It was
like your relationship with your brother, only bigger, more intense because
there were more people that cared for you,” says Jou, “What was it like in the
orphanage, without a family?”
“Lonely,”
says Kaiba, “It was very lonely. All I had was my brother. No friends to speak
of. Just him. I decided then that he was the only reason for me to live.”
“I could
be part of your family, if you want me to be,” says Jou, “You don’t have to
feel lonely anymore, Spike.”
“You
would really join my family, Jet?” asks Kaiba with wide eyes as he looks at
Jou.
Jou
smiles and nods his head. “Of course I would. You are a part of my family.”
Kaiba
smiles and pulls Jou into an embrace. “Thank you… Thank you! I don’t want to be
alone anymore.”
“You
don’t have to be.” Jou holds Kaiba tightly. “Now let’s find Vash!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seto opens
his eyes and pushes himself off the floor. He looks all around and quickly
grabs the phone. He calls Kakashi’s private line. “Kakashi. It’s Kaiba. I need
another meeting! Soon!”
Seto starts
pacing around the room. “All right. Monday afternoon in my office. I’ll see you
then, Kakashi! I need these dreams to stop! Even if you have to knock me out
with pills when I go to sleep!”
Seto sits
down and begins to type up the dream, adding the date but not the time before
he saves it. He rests his head in his hands and quickly falls asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Seto’s~Dream~~~~~~~~~~~~
“My name is Vash… Vash the
Stampede,” says Jou standing in the middle of the street with his silver gun
drawn.
“My name
is Wolfwood,” says Kaiba glaring at Jou. He has a giant cross slung across his
back.
“Nice to
meet you, priest, but what do you want with me?” asks Jou.
“I could
just want the sixty billion double dollar reward that’s been put on your head,”
says Kaiba smirking.
“But you
don’t. I know you don’t.”
Kaiba
nods.
“What do
you want with me?” asks Jou again.
“I need
your help, you lucky bastard,” says Kaiba, “You’ve always been in the wrong
place at the right time, but no one has ever been hurt as long as you’re there.
There’s been tons of property damage, but no one has been hurt. I need your
help to make sure that an innocent doesn’t get hurt.”
“I’m
listening, Wolfwood,” says Jou running his hand through his spiky blond hair.
“There
are two women, Millie and Maril,” says Kaiba, “They have been abducted by
Knives.”
Jou’s
eyes widen. “Knives!”
“I
thought you would feel that way, Vash.”
“Well… I
have to save the women,” says Jou, “Will you help me?”
Kaiba
nods.
Jou and
Kaiba run off together. They find themselves in a town square where Mokie and
Shizuka, both wearing long dresses, are tied to a stone statue.
Motou
stands beside the statue glaring at Jou and Kaiba.
“It’s
time to end this, Knives!” exclaims Jou.
“That’s
right, Vash,” says Motou.
“Wolfwood!
Get the girls!” exclaims Jou.
“I’m on
it!” exclaims Kaiba running towards the statue.
“Draw,
Knives!” exclaims Jou drawing his own gun.
Motou
draws a gun and aims it at Jou.
Kaiba
unties Mokie and Shizuka while Motou and Jou stare each other down.
Two
gunshots sound, and Motou falls to his knees.
Jou
walks towards Mokie, Shizuka, and Kaiba as Motou falls completely onto the ground.
“Do you think it’s over now, Wolfwood?”
“I think
it is,” says Kaiba with a nod.
Seto wakes
up to hear the incessant knocking on his door. He rubs his eyes and yells at
the door, “What the hell do you want?”
Katsuya
opens the door and pokes his head inside. “Dinner time!”
“I’ll be
down in a minute,” says Seto, “I just need to finish this up.”
“Okay, but
don’t be too long!” exclaims Katsuya hurrying away.
Seto shakes
his head to clear it and he quickly types up this latest dream.
