Disturbed : Chapter 13
The day had finally come, Bakura’s execution. And it was to be televised across the entire nation. Malik sat beside Ryou, his lover now had many sores on his body, parts of his body numb. Malik held Ryou’s hand tightly as the two looked up at the tv on the wall, the sound up. Ryou squeezed his lover’s hand, both waiting for Bakura to be brought in the room. There to witness the execution were all the family and friends of those he had killed, Yami and Seto in the front.
Finally Bakura was escorted into the separate room and he looked very pale, his eyes bloodshot and teary. He no longer tried to struggle against the guards as they unhand cuffed and unshackled him. Bakura began to softly sing softly the Evanescence song, ‘Breath No More’ as he cooperated.
“I’ve been looking in the mirror for so long. That I’ve come to believe my soul’s on the other side. Oh, the little pieces falling, shatter. Shards of me, too sharp to put back together. Too small to matter, but big enough to cut me into so many little pieces. If I try to touch him, and I bleed, I bleed, and I breathe, I breathe no more” Bakura sang as they laid him down on the bed and began to strap his ankles and wrists.
Malik had tears in his eyes as he remembered that was the exact same song he had began cutting himself to.
“Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirit’s well. Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child. Lie to me, convince me that I’ve been sick forever. And all of this, will make sense when I get better” Bakura continued, his tears falling down the sides of his face. “I know the difference between myself and my reflection. I just can’t help but to wonder, which of us do you love” Bakura sang so softly, but it was still able to be heard.
He paused momentarily in his song as he felt the needle penetrate his skin and the cool liquid enter his blood, more tears falling from his eyes.
“So I bleed, I bleed, and I breathe, I breathe now…bleed, I bleed, and I breathe, I breathe…” Bakura’s eyes became heavy, his heart slowing down. “I breathe, I breathe…no more…” Bakura sang with his last breath and his eyes closed and h is head fell to the side, the heart monitor giving one continuous sound.
Malik noticed the heart monitor sound seemed louder than what it should from the tv and looked at Ryou, whose eyes were closed. Malik’s crying eyes looked at his lover’s heart monitor, it too giving a straight line. //They died at the same time…// Malik realized, his body trembling. He looked down at Ryou’s motionless body, nurses and a doctor rushing into the room and tried to calmly get Malik out of the way.
“No! I want to stay!” Malik cried, fighting with the doctors and nurses.
“Security” one doctor called, since the nurses couldn’t really drag Malik out of the room, but security could.
Malik tried to struggle against the strong men until they got him in the hallway where he just began to sob and hugged one of the men, crying into his shoulder.
“They’re dead! They’re both dead!” Malik sobbed.
The man wasn’t sure what to do and lightly hugged Malik back, “Um…do you have family here or something?” he asked calmly.
“Malik!” Marik ran up to the group and pulled his twin away from the security guard and hugged him tightly, Noah standing next to them.
“Marik! He’s dead!” Malik cried.
“Shhh, Malik, just get it out” Marik rubbed his brother’s back.
Mokuba found the three and just stopped when he seen how upset Malik was, “Is he…?” the young Kaiba asked his cousin.
“Yeah…” Noah nodded in sympathy, watching as tears came to Mokuba’s gray eyes. “I’m sorry, Mokuba” Noah hugged his cousin.
Three days later, Mokuba went against his brother’s wishes and paid to have Ryou and Bakura buried next to each other in a gated cemetery. After the funeral both Malik and Mokuba stood starring at the fresh graves.
“I believe you really loved both of them” Mokuba said softly, breaking the silence.
Malik sniffed, wiping his tears away, “I don’t know what to do, now…I don’t know what to do without them. I didn’t really know either one for very long, but…I felt like I’ve known both of them for years.”
Mokuba nodded, “One time, when I went to visit Ryou, he told me about how you told him what you believed. He said it was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard and envisioned” Mokuba wiped his tears away as well and looked at Malik, “I think they’re there now, waiting for you” he smiled.
“What’s the point of me staying here?” Malik asked, shaking his head, “I just want to die now.”
“Everything happens for a reason…you were meant to stay. Them waiting for a few decades is nothing in eternity. They’ll hardly have time to miss you” Mokuba assured, “They were lucky to have you…I was being selfish and judgmental” he admitted, looking down shamefully.
Malik lifted Mokuba’s head gently, “No you weren’t, you loved Ryou, and here I was some guy that, to you, appeared selfish and crazy, right?” Malik smiled when Mokuba chuckled.
“Something like that. Looking back, though, it was easy to see that you did have a connection with them, and you just cared about them when others wouldn’t because of what made them different. You seem to see the best in everyone and you look past their sins and faults to the person they really are. You’re a strong person, Malik. You always follow your heart and do what you believe is right, no matter what others think or society says. Do you know how many people wish they had the courage you do?” Mokuba said in admiration.
“Do you really think that about me?” Malik asked, a bit surprised; he had never gotten a compliment like that, Mokuba seemed to really understand him.
Mokuba reached out to move some of Malik’s bangs from his eyes, “Yeah, I do” he smiled. “So, do you want to maybe go get some coffee or something and talk?” Mokuba asked.
Malik looked at the graves of his two soul mates and remembered how Ryou had said he wanted him to be happy, he then looked at Mokuba, “Sure. There’s this really cool café downtown called Water from a Vine Leaf” Malik suggested.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been there” Mokuba smiled and bravely took Malik’s hand as the two began to walk back to Malik’s car.

SecretSoul: yes, malik and mokuba end up together^_^ awwwwwww!!! I think they’re cute. Anyway…you know what I almost did? There could be an alternate ending, I dunno. But basically the other ending would be malik does escape with bakura and they go to Canada or something and it’s all good for like a week before bakura’s meds ware off and it ends up being an abusive relationship b/c bakura’s crazy and all and they’d end up getting found by the police and yadda yadda yadda…I thought, however, that that would just drag the story out and make it too long and stuff, plus malik would lose his love for bakura, and I didn’t really want to do that w/ this. Sooooooooooo, did ya like it? Hmmm, my last chapters are usually the shortest and probably a little rushed. I think this was one of my better fics, huh? Review and tell me^_~ AS of now…I don’t really have another fic in mind…not really. Did you know this fic was suppose to be about some of the other characters BESIDES malik and marik, ryou, bakura? WOW. How does this keep happening? I dunno. But anyway…love you ALL, especially those who reviewed, and of course you Deb *glomps* bye for now.
