R is for Run
He ran.It was his fault. He should have never listened to him. He should have never left the house. He ran fast.Everything had happened so fast. There had been no warning. One second he had been standing, the next he was on the ground with a heavy weight on his back.He ran fast and far. As far away as he could. He had been running for three days now with no real destination in mind and with very little rest. His mind was set on just getting away.Joey whipped through the trees, moving quicker than ever before. So quick that he failed to see a small hole ahead. Joey let out a loud yelp as the sudden stop jarred his foot badly and twisted his ankle. With his heart still racing, Joey knelt down with gritted teeth to pry his foot free.He took a single step and nearly crumbled when pain shot up from his ankle. But he forced himself to keep going. He was moving much slower now as he limped, but he wasn’t going to stop. He couldn’t go back. He could never be forgiven. The memory of three days ago filtered through his mind.“Hey, Joey!”Joey looked up from his task to see Mokuba suddenly sitting next to him. He jerked backwards, nearly falling off the couch. The young-looking boy snagged the male by the shirt and easily pulled him back onto the couch.“How many times I gotta ask ya not to do that, kid?” Joey asked.Mokuba laughed, revealing a fanged grin.“I’d say I’m sorry, Joey, but we both know I’m not,” Mokuba said.Joey shook his head. “So what’s got you so darn happy?”Mokuba told him all about his ‘brilliant’ plan to go over to the next village. They were having a big festival and Mokuba wanted desperately to check it out. And he wanted Joey to come, too.Joey jumped to his feet.“oOooh, no! No, nope, nada, absolutely NOT! Your brother will serve me up as dinner for the entire coven. No, no, I ain’t leaving this house,” Joey protested.Mokuba pouted.“Come on, Joey! Everyone will be out of the house all day. We can get there and be back before they all get here. Please! I don’t want to go alone,” Mokuba told him.Joey glanced out the window, past the front gate that led out to the forest. He wasn’t allowed to leave the grounds. It was the coven’s rule for allowing him to live. He let out a big sigh before turning a small smile to the vampire.“All right, kid. Just let me get my stuff.”“Yeah!”Mokuba was suddenly attached to him with his arms around his neck and legs around his waist. Joey nearly toppled over from the movement.“You’re the best, Joey!”Tears finally fell down his face. He wasn’t good or the best. He was the worst. He hadn’t been paying close enough attention and Mokuba had paid the price. It had happened when they had been on their way back. They had been so close to home, too.Joey didn’t even know it was the pack’s territory. He could still hear Mokuba’s screams echoing through the air.“No!”Joey tried to shove the large wolf off his back. The three other wolves were toying with the short vampire. They would let him get only a little far before throwing claws at him. The boy was bleeding from open wounds on his arms. His eyes were not a blazing red, but a golden yellow. The color of fear and surrender.“Leave him alone!” Joey yelled. He watched in horror as two wolves caught hold of the vampire by gripping one arm each in their sharp teeth. The one wolf moved in for the kill.“NO!”Everything after that had happened so fast. His hand had snatched up his silver dagger which he drove straight up into the heart of the wolf holding him down. The lone wolf had turned his attention to him and dove for him. Joey had acted on instinct and severely wounded the wolf with his blade. The other two wolves had dropped Mokuba and had run away in a retreat.Seeing how badly Mokuba was injured, Joey had turned his anger onto the nearly dead wolf and had finished the job. He had dropped the blade, scooped up Mokuba and ran back to the house. Upon reaching the house, Joey had tried healing his wounds and giving him fresh blood from his own wrist, but the boy had been too weak.Mokuba grabbed a weak hold of Joey’s wrist and pushed it away. Joey gasped. The boy pulled him down by a grip on his collar and whispered in his ear.“I’m dying, Joey. There’s nothing you can do. Nothing anyone can do. I’m sorry. You’ve been trapped here for so long. I thought you deserved a little fun, too,” Mokuba said with a small chuckle.Joey’s eyes started to water.“Joey, you have to go. Run. Run away.”His bottom lip quivered as he slowly shook his head.“No. No, I ain’t leaving you like this,” Joey told him.He was surprised when Mokuba’s eyes flashed red.“Go, Joey. Respect my last wish, human.”Joey’s ankle suddenly gave out completely and he fell at the base of a tree. He brought a hand up to his bloody face as the tears continued to come. Most of the coven was good to him, but Mokuba had been the best. He hadn’t wanted to leave the youngest vampire like that; however, he had respected his last wish. After he had died in his arms.Joey curled up into a ball and laid his head down on his knees. He sobbed loud and hard. His life was over. The pack would have his scent now and want to avenge their fallen brethren. The coven would be after him for thinking he had killed one of their own. The marks on the kid’s arms looked like they could have been from blades or claws and his scent was all over Mokuba after having carried him.A mixture of both werewolf and vampire blood stained his clothes and skin. A cold feeling settled over his heart as he lifted his head to stare down the way he had come. He deserved to die. He didn’t deserve to live.Mokuba should be alive and he should be dead. Joey had failed to protect the little brother of the coven’s leader. Seto would undoubtedly track him down, skin him alive, and drink down whatever was left of him.Joey shivered from those thoughts and the cold. It was late now and the cold had begun setting in on the poor blonde. He pulled his light jacket tighter around his freezing body. He thought of getting up and running again. The throbbing in his ankle and the dark sky above told him that wouldn’t be the smartest idea. He whimpered as a strong breeze threatened to blow him over. His teeth chattered. He stared up at the starry sky, wondering why the gods had forsaken him.It had been three years ago, at the ripe age of fourteen, that he had been traveling with his father through the forest. When they had reached a deserted town, Joey had been suspicious. He had been surprised when a group of men and women had appeared. He had been shocked more when they had transformed at will into unearthly large wolves. It was then he had learned about his lineage. Or what should have been his lineage. His father had been upset to find his son couldn’t change; something he blamed on his late human wife. His own father – the bastard – had brought him to the pack as a meal. They had allowed him a head start.“Bastards. The whole lot of ‘em,” Joey murmured, laying his head back down.He didn’t know what had driven him the way he had gone. He had stumbled right into Yugi and Mokuba who had been out for a walk. He had tried warning what he thought were two short kids about the large wolves coming.Joey let out a watery chuckle. He remembered well how the wolves had run away when they had seen the short vampires. The wolves had been too relentless in chasing their prey to realize the blonde had crossed borders into coven territory. After the wolves had run off, Mokuba had eagerly dragged the shaken blonde back to what Joey soon dubbed the “house of horrors.”Should have let the damn pack eat me. Maybe then Mokuba would still be alive, Joey thought miserably.Joey curled himself as tight as possible before falling into a fitful sleep. It was some time later that he felt someone shaking him.“Joey? Joey? Is that you?” a familiar voice asked.Joey jerked out of his sleeping state and snapped his head up. Brown eyes met violet. Yugi’s face broke out in a big grin.“It is you! Joey, I’m so happy to see you!” Yugi said.Joey jerked up to his feet and stepped back away from Yugi with his limp. The small vampire stood up slowly with a confused look on his face.“Joey, I’m here to bring you back. We’ve all been out looking for you. We thought you were dead,” Yugi told him.Joey violently shook his head while taking another step away.“Stay away. Go away, Yugi. Just let me go. I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” Joey murmured, lowering his gaze to the ground.Yugi took a small step forward, forcing Joey to jump back away from him.“Joey, I believe you. I know you wouldn’t hurt Mokuba. You could never hurt him. Come back and I’ll stick by you. I’ll make them listen, Joey.”His unbeating heart nearly broke at the broken look in Joey’s eyes. Even on some of the worst days in the mansion, Joey had never looked so sad.“I can’t go back, Yug. He ain’t gonna listen to me. I’m just a mutt, ‘member?”Yugi winced. When Joey had been brought to the mansion, the other coven members had said he smelled like a wet dog that lived in a garbage dump. Thus, the name ‘mutt’ had been bestowed upon him by the coven leader.“Joey, I’m sorry, but I can’t disobey an order. You’re injured. If Bakura or Malik catch you, you’ll get hurt worse. Please let me get Yami and we’ll take you back.”Joey wrapped his arms around himself. He lowered his chin to his chest. He knew Yugi was right. If Seto had given the order, then the two vampires would most likely do him great harm while dragging him back.“Go ‘head and call ‘em, Yug,” Joey murmured.Yugi smiled. He sent a silent message around the mental link to his mate. Joey startled when a hard, cold hand clamped down on his arm.“You have a lot of people looking for you,” Yami told him.“I know,” Joey murmured.Yugi stared sadly at his lover. Couldn’t he see the human was in pain?[Yugi. Don’t forget. Mokuba is gone. Joey is alive and he’s covered in blood. He reeks of that damn pack.]Joey didn’t give up a fight as Yami pulled out a dark cloth and covered it several times over Joey’s eyes. The vampire tied a tight knot at the back of his head.[I can see all that, Yami. But it doesn’t change what I said before. Joey wouldn’t do this. He liked Mokuba and Mokuba liked him. Why would he want to hurt him?]Yami narrowed his gaze as he lifted Joey up into his arms, being mindful of the injured ankle.[That’s a question he’ll have to answer for Seto.]/……/
Joey sat curled up in a corner of a room. Everything had been confusing since Yami had blindfolded him. The two tri-colored blondes had brought him back to the mansion in record timing. Thankfully, the others had been out searching still. Yami had brought him inside while Yugi went out to search for Seto.
Yami had brought him upstairs and into a room. Joey hadn’t given up any struggle as the man had attached a chain to his wrist and secured it to something. Joey had found that the chain gave enough lag to allow him to go into a bathroom and back out.
Scrunched up in a corner, he laid his head down on his knees and waited. He knew it wouldn’t be long. He only hoped Seto would show him some form of mercy and give him a swift death.
It was only a few minutes later that he felt a large hand dig into his hair and yank his head back.“Mutt.”Joey whimpered in pain. The grip on his head was in no way gentle. His wish for a swift death wouldn’t be coming.Seto’s eyes were now a deep red. He was pissed. He was beyond pissed. He had returned home with Yami, only to find his younger brother dead on the couch. Yami’s quick search of the house had revealed the mutt’s disappearance. At this point, the rest of the coven had returned and Seto had sent them out searching for the human. The mutt was covered in his brother’s blood and had the stench of wolf about him. It didn’t take a genius to put two and two together. He yanked the blonde up to his feet, ignoring Joey’s yelp as he put pressure on his injured foot. Seto dragged him over to the bed and threw him on it on his back.Joey cringed when the vampire’s heavy weight pinned him down. A sharp, hot tongue lapped at the blood on his face. Joey turned his head away in fright. A strong hand snagged his chin and squeezed roughly.“Be still, mutt.”Joey wisely chose to stay still. Seto lapped at the blood, occasionally taking a hard nip at the blonde’s skin, but not hard enough to break skin. He felt the human shudder, but he ignored that too. He used his other hand to rip away the thin jacket from the mortal’s body. This left Joey in a cut up, bloody t-shirt; cuts that Seto couldn’t discern what or whom had caused them. That thought made him growl and lower his head to bite harshly at the mortal’s throat.Joey cried out and his hands flew up to dislodge the brunette. However, the elder vampire was quicker and snagged the blonde’s other wrist. Joey felt his hands tightened and tied to the headboard with no lag. He knew there was absolutely no escaping now.Seto felt the boy’s body slump underneath his and he knew; he had scared the seventeen year old enough to know not to lie to him. The vampire released the flesh and lapped over the bruises he knew would form there. He slid up the blonde’s body to hiss in his ear.“I want the truth, mutt. You tell me what happened or your death will be drawn out and I will have you begging me to end your life,” Seto warned him.Joey let out a small sniffle, but nodded that he understood. He started out with a stutter, telling the coven leader everything from Mokuba convincing him to go to the vampire convincing him to run. Seto could believe some parts of the story, but not all of it. The anger swirled in his eyes. His hand shot up to squeeze Joey’s throat, startling a cry out of the boy.“You lie!”Joey shook his head violently. “No! It’s what happened! I broke loose and killed two wolves. The others ran off. Then I brought Mokuba back. It’s all true!”The blonde broke down sobbing. He whimpered and shook his head, softly telling the vampire he was sorry.“Seto.”Seto glared over his shoulder at the doorway where Yami stood. How dare he interrupt him?!“We need to talk.”The vampire’s voice was nothing but a mere whisper, meaning that only Seto heard him. Seto turned his head back to Joey and hissed in his ear.“Don’t move. Do you understand me, mutt?”With a sniffle, Joey nodded silently. Seto was off him and beside Yami in a flash. The two stepped out in the hall. Seto shot Yami a look while bringing a hand up to cover his nose. The tri-colored vampire smelled like he bathed in the wet fur of dogs then rolled himself through their fresh excrements.“Why do you smell worse than the mutt?” Seto demanded.“Because we found his kill,” Yami answered.Seto glared.“Explain.”Yami told him of the wolf bodies that Ryou and Bakura had discovered. Their claws and scents matched those found on Mokuba. The dagger used to kill both wolves had Joey’s scent all over it. Seto glared at the floor. So the mutt had been telling him the truth. He had been tormenting the boy for nothing. Joey’s tears weren’t an act. He really did feel remorse over the death of the vampire’s brother. A mortal that was so upset he shed tears over a creature.Joey startled when he found his hands suddenly free of chains. He was pulled up to sit up on the bed and what was left of his shirt was ripped from his body. He bit back a whimper as he felt his lower body stripped of everything except his torn boxers. What was the vampire up to? Was he going to rape him?Seto tossed the clothes over his shoulder at Yami who caught them easily.“Burn those,” Seto sneered.Seto lifted Joey into his arms and disappeared into the bathroom with him. Yami let out a low whistle as he closed the bedroom door behind him. The blonde hid a gorgeous body under those baggy clothes of his. Frowning, he wondered if Yugi knew about that.Seto sat the still blindfolded mortal down on the closed toilet before starting a bath. He could see Joey looked visibly confused. He adjusted the water until it was hot, but not too hot for the mortal’s poor body.“Take ‘em off, pup,” Seto said without turning around.Joey barely held back a whimper as he lifted himself up enough to slip his boxers off. He didn’t like being so vulnerable, especially with his eyes still blindfolded. He couldn’t hold back the shocked yelp when his body was picked up and dipped into a tub of hot water. The heated water on his skin caused him to shiver as goosebumps broke out all over.He heard Seto dip something in the water before he felt the rough texture of a washcloth come up his arm.“W-Wh…w-what are you doing?” Joey stuttered.Seto brought the washcloth up to the youth’s face and started washing away the blood and tears.“As I’ve told you before, pup….you stink. You’ve been running around in the woods wrestling with mutts and your scent is going to drive the whole coven out of the house,” Seto commented.“Never stopped you before,” Joey mumbled.Seto ignored the puppy’s weird words. He dipped the washcloth back into the water before running it across the mortal’s chest. Like Yami, he hadn’t realized how…exquisite the mortal’s body was. Had he known, he would have ignored the bad smell and taken the blonde into his arms and bed. He had already discarded his own shirt before bathing the puppy.Joey gasped when the washcloth dipped below the water and touched his thighs. Joey whimpered in confusion as the clothed hand rubbed up and down his member. He bit his lip, but couldn’t stop the moan when his balls were cupped and gently squeezed. Seto chuckled yet didn’t say a word. He was enjoying how responsive his prey was; Joey should have been his a long time ago.Seto sat further onto the side of the tub and leaned in to lick at the blonde’s neck, making sure to give special attention to the pulse point. Joey gasped and whimpered. None of the vampires had ever drunk from him, preferring not to be near his smell or upset Mokuba and Yugi. He could tell by the tightening grip on his thigh that the coven leader hadn’t drank recently.“I-I…it-it’s ok-k-k, Seto. You can d-d-drink,” Joey stuttered.Seto normally didn’t wait for permission from his prey to drink; usually all it took was a few sweet words and seduction. Seto gently scraped his teeth across the skin before sinking them in. Joey let out a loud gasp and arched his head back to give the vampire more access. Seto showed him his gratitude by rubbing firmly between his thighs. The first splash of blood on his tongue made Seto sit up more and suck more at the open wound. There was a kind of spice to the puppy’s blood that was addicting.Joey moaned and brought a shaky hand up to the back of Seto’s head to pull him close. He was nearly shocked out of the water when the hand between his thighs caught his free hand. The vampire’s hand made Joey wrap his own hand around his rapidly growing erection. The firm grip forced him to pump his member, causing him gasp and mumble words of nothing.Seto gave a good, hard suck to his throat at the same time he forced their hands to squeeze his erection. He came unexpectedly with a loud scream./……/
“It’s my fault.”
Seto continued running a hand up and down Joey’s inner thigh. He occasionally stopped to squeeze the flesh, causing Joey to sometimes gasp. Seto leaned his forehead on the mortal’s shoulder blade. Seto had finished his drink and finished washing off the puppy. He had dried him, clothed him with boxers, and taken the blindfold off. Now, they were lying on their sides on the center of Seto’s bed with Joey’s back to Seto’s chest.“Mokuba would have gone, even if you hadn’t been with him. It’s not your fault,” Seto told him.As much as the hand was soothing, Joey refused to accept it or the vampire’s words. He shook his head.“When I first came to the house, you all asked me why the wolves chased me. I told ya I didn’t know. You knew I was lying, but ya accepted my answer. Them wolves won’t stop coming for me ‘cause I’m a’pposed to be one of them.”Seto halted his movements, keeping his hand still on a thigh, as Joey told him the full truth. It all made sense now. The mutt always smelled like those mangy wolves. Like the others, he had assumed the boy had lived with the wolves and the smell had just stuck to him. He pressed his face into the back of the blonde’s neck and took in a good whiff of the mutt’s scent.Yes. He could smell it now. The scent usually repulsed him, but he was quickly finding it intoxicating. And it explained why he had tasted so different from every other mortal. Wolf blood was an addictive taste to vampires.Seto had had his time, although short by mortal standards, to mourn his brother’s death. Now all the vampire could think of was the innocent half-wolf in his arms and his revenge on the wolves responsible for Mokuba’s death.Joey felt the smirk on the nape of his neck and shivered. That smirk was never good news, especially combined with the squeezing of his inner thigh.“You’ve given me a wonderful idea, puppy.”/……/
It had been a few days since they had killed the little vampire protecting his half-bred mutt. He still couldn’t believe his two pack mates that had come back with their tails between their legs. His runt of the litter had taken down two wolves on his own? And for what? To try and save a dying bloodsucker?
The wolf suddenly lifted its head from the stream it had been drinking from. He sniffed the air again and his lips curled back in a smirk. His mutt was in the area. Alone. Rather than dart away and run towards his prey, the wolf stalked slowly across the forest floor. He found the mutt exploring around the forest. Big mistake. The wolf transformed so an older version of the male stood there.“Hello, runt.”Joey smiled before turning around. He lifted his head to regard his father.“Hey, old man,” Joey replied. His father sneered before breaking down in a smirk.“I understand you killed two of my wolves. And now I’m going to kill you. Just like I should have done when you were just a punk brat,” Wheeler Senior said. This was the part where his son should be begging for his life or running away. Yet he stood there, doing neither. Instead the boy stood with his arms at his sides with a grim smile on his face.“You didn’t hear them, did you?” Joey asked. His father frowned. He tilted his head, but he didn’t hear anything. Joey softly shook his head.“The vampire your pack killed? His name was Mokuba. He looked like a kid, but he was really over a hundred years old. He didn’t like drinking human blood. He liked playing chess and making me laugh. He was a good kid,” Joey said. The father snarled angrily with his wolf fangs showing.“I don’t care what the bloodsucker’s name was. He’s dead and that’s all that matters.”Joey’s gaze narrowed. “He was my friend. And you’re going to pay for killing him.”Wheeler Senior threw his head back and laughed.“You think you can take me on, runt?”“Joey may have his moments, but he’s not suicidal.”Joey smirked while his father startled. Seto appeared behind Joey with a toothed smirk directed at the werewolf. Wheeler stared at the vampire as he wrapped his arms around his mutt of a child. He had his head turned, nuzzling the half-wolf’s neck. Yet the vampire’s blood red gaze was on him.“Did I forget to mention that Mokuba had a big brother?” Joey asked, relaxing into the vampire’s embrace.Yes, he could see the family resemblance. It was then that he smelled more vampires. Whipping his head around, Wheeler saw them emerge from behind the trees. He was surrounded.“I wouldn’t bother calling for yer pack. You were the last one I lured out,” Joey told him.Wheeler snarled. How had this happened? Vampires took life! Why was this coven going against their instincts?!“They’ll throw you out like the garbage you are, once they know your little secret,” he snarled at his son.Joey let out a small chuckle that ended in a whimper. Unknown to the father, Seto had nipped the side of his throat.“They…they already know. I told Seto the day I…came back. I told the others the next morning. They’ve accepted it. Hell, I got Bakura wanting to race around outside with me to see if I can keep up,” Joey said.Bakura released a deep, maniacal laugh as he rocked back on his feet. It sent chills down Wheeler’s back.“Why? Why protect a half-mutt?” he snarled.Joey shrugged. He chuckled while hugging the arms around him.“Maybe because they’re curious about me. Or they might actually like me. Oh, wait, no. I know. The vampire you killed, who I tried protectin’, was the little brother of the coven leader. Seto Kaiba.”Wheeler’s eyes widened. Before he had time to think, two of the coven had snagged an arm each and brought him to his knees. A loud moan caused his head to snap up. What he saw made him sick. The vampire had turned Joey sideways to him. He had one hand buried in blonde hair while the other was in his pants. His mouth was attached to the other side of the mortal’s throat. Judging by the groans of his offspring, the vampire had his hand wrapped around his member. With his heightened sense of hearing, he could the vampire’s whispers when he released his throat.“Should I show him, pet? Hmm. Should the last thing he does be to watch my pup come undone in my arms?” Seto whispered.Joey’s whole body shuddered as his member was pumped. Mokuba had warned him once that his brother was very perverted. It turns out the kid was right. Wheeler failed to notice that all but his two captors had made themselves scarce. He watched as the vampire made his son come undone. The boy came with a low groan of the vampire’s name. One second the coven leader was holding up his son, the next he was kneeling eye-level in front of him. He had never seen a vampire’s eyes such a deep red.“Now that I’ve taken care of my lover, it’s time to have my fun. I hope you’re in good shape, mutt. I’m in the mood for a run,” Seto smirked. The vampire said he would give him a generous ten second head start. As soon as the vampires released him, Wheeler transformed and shot off like a rocket. Bakura chuckled as the three vampires watched the werewolf run off. Seto tapped his forehead and shook his head.“Silly me. Did I forget to mention there were three other covens in the woods? And they haven’t eaten yet?”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
