Chapter Two: Fear
Fear is by Sarah McLachlan, can be found on her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy disk or Mirror Ball or…well, me thinks you get the idea.
Now, is it just me or does Yugi seem like a closet Goth in the anime? I mean, it could just be me or I could be reading too much into it, or I could just be going by the fact he seems to act a lot like me, voices included. And the clothes…but whatever.
Ryou looked around warily as the boy lead them around to the back of the club. Everything he’d ever learned about strangers and dark alleys was swimming around in his mind. All because he just couldn’t leave Jou alone, ever.
Though it seemed to bring him nothing but heartache and a lot of trouble, Jou was his only real friend and he’d probably follow the blond through hell ad back if Jou ever asked it of him. Thankfully, for him, Jou never really asked him to do much, except keep his mouth shut about the bruises his friend always had. Well and those few times Jou had shown up around midnight needing a place to stay, but asked Ryou not to ask why.
His loyalty and love for Jou was going to end up hurting them both, he knew that already. What he didn’t know was why he continued to act the way he did.
Around the back were two cars, a limo, and a motorcycle. The woman that had been talking to Mokuba before was standing on the steps talking to someone. Ryou tilted his head off to sid side, the boy was hard to see in the dim light of the alley, then came to a halt.
It was Duke, the keyboardist of the band, standing next to her.
He frowned just a little bit, trying to figure out what was going on. He drew a big blank.
“Mai.” Mokuba said, walking over to the woman. “I did what you asked. Can you take me home now? Some of us have class in the morning.”
“Sure thing kid.” Mai smiled some and took Duke by the arm. “Soon as the boys get out we’ we’ll take you home, right Duke?”
“Whatever.” Duke muttered.
Mai rolled her eyes then turned and looked at Ryou and Jou, who were standing a few feet behind Mokuba, looking…well awkward. She let go of Duke and walked over to the two teens, who stared at her, one wide-eyed and the other just curious.
“Hi. I’m Mai, the manager of the band, and two of my guys say you in the crowd and were wondering if you could keep them company for a while.” She smiled widely; ty sty sure she already knew the answer. It was always the same; shock then excited squealing and such. It was sad what some people would do to get noticed by-
“No.” The blond boy shook his head and took his friend by the arm. “We aren’t groupies, but I’m sure if you look around you’ll find someone.”
His friend just blinked but allowed himself to be tugged away with little protest. Mai blinked, shocked. They’d refused? What? That never happened. Men and women were usually lined up in the back begging for a shot at one of the guys. Only reason it was different tonight was that this was a low-key concert, only hard-core fans that checked out the website would have known about it.
And these two had said no? The hell?
Mokuba giggled. “Mai, I think that they’re…together already.”
Before she could respond the door behind them opened and the other four members of the band trooped out, varying expressions on their faces.
Yugi looked ready to fall over, but that wasn’t new. He had a lot of energy and liked to put all of it into his drum playing. He was the youngest after Mokuba, but was the only one to get along with all four of the other boys.
Yami, his boyfriend, looked a little tired. He was the second oldest and the quietest of the group. Other then looking out for Yugi he didn’t hang around anyone much and seemed to flat out dislike Bakura and Kaiba.
Bakura looked ready to go out and wreck the entire town, but that wasn’t a new occurrence either. He was loud and sarcastic, a touch on the violent side and showed it. Playing got him keyed up and hyper, finding someone to play with was usually the safest way to let that energy out. He didn’t like Yugi or Yami much.
Kaiba was wide-awake, but not as energetic as Bakura. He was quiet, like Yami, but was also cynical and bitingly sarcastic. He either didn’t speak or was insulting someone. However he had a soft spot for his brother, Mokuba, and had a respect for Yami. Duke however was far from his favorite person in the world.
And Duke…well Duke was Mai’s concern and Mai’s concern alone, as everyone already knew.
“What happened to that kid I pointed out?” Was the first thing out of Bakura’s mouth. Mokuba smirked.
“He left. He and his friend weren’t interested.”
“Stop grinning kid.” Bakura growled but stopped when Seto shot him a near murderous look. “And who asked for his friend anyway?”
“I…may have accidentally invited him along. They seemed so close, I didn’t think he’d leave the blond behind.” At which point Mokuba had a very smug grin on his face. He took after his brother it seemed, and was frustratingly passive-aggressive. He wouldn’t get outroutright and listened well, but he always seemed to get everyone in the end.
Yugi laughed then yawned, leaning against Yami. “That wasn’t nice Mokuba.”
“It wasn’t supposed to be.” the fourteen year old stuck his tongue out at Bakura. “Next time I bet you won’t throw my stuff outta the bus window.”
“Yeah, next time I’ll throw you out.” Bakura started to take a step forward but Seto stepped in front of him, frowning. Bakura growled and went around him and down the steps. He glared at Mokuba. “You are so lucky.”
Mokuba just blinked, less then intimidated. Not that Bakura wasn’t a scary guy, but he knew Seto could beat him up, so worrying he was not. Besides as annoying as he could be, he was ultimately useful to have around, ra kra knew that.
“Mokuba.” Seto frowned at him a little. “Stop trying to annoy Bakura.”
Mokuba nodded. “Fine.”
Mai wasn’t sure if she should be annoyed or amused with the younger boy’s antics. “Come on Mokuba, we’ve gotta get you home.”
“I’ll be around later.” Seto said, watching his brother head for Mai’s limo. That was pure Mai really, always had to have the best of everything, be it cars or clothes. Mokuba waved at him before climbing inside, Mai and Duke right behind him. They drove away under Seto’s watchful eye.
“We’ll see you in the morning.” Yami said, pulling the car keys from his pocket. Yugi smiled suddenly, obviously pleased with something.
“So we’re going to see my grandpa?” Yami nodded then allowed a fond smile to slip at the elated look on Yugi’s face. Bakura was leaning against his bike and sneered at the display. Yugi stuck out his tongue.
“Don’t mind him Yugi, he’s jealous.” Yami smirked a little bit
Yu
Yugi laughed at the look of outrage on Bakura’s face before sliding into Yami’s car. “Bye Seto. Bye Bakura.”
Kaiba offered a small wave and Bakura just stared, which was actually polite for him, so Yugi was far from offended. They left, leaving Seto and Bakura alone. Bakura looked at Seto who stared back, raising an eyebrow.
“Is there a problem Bakura?”
“I hate your brother.” Bakura deadpanned. Seto rolled his eyes, apparently not bothered.
“That’s nice. Move your bike so I can get out.”
Bakura looked and saw that his bike was indeed a few feet behind Seto’s and was blocking his way out to the street. As much as he would have liked to argue with the older teen some, he had things to do and easy groupies to locate. He threw his leg over then started the bike. With one last look at the brunette who was slowly walking over to his own car, he took off, officially disturbing the peace.
Which was, of course, the whole point of having a motorcycle.
Jou looked sideways at Ryou, who still had that dazed expression on his face. Jou supposed being told a member of your favorite band wanted to screw you would put you in a state temporary confusion. It was a good thing the bus stop wasn’t too far away since he was about to be held responsible for his friend being run over. Honestly, how could he explain that anyone?
Ryou blinked a few times then looked around. Jou turned as well, wondering what Ryou was looking for. A dull roar caught his attention after a moment and he realized it was getting louder, and thus closer, with each passing second.
It took him another second to identify it as a motorcycle engine, which explained Ryou’s sudden interest. Biker whore wanna be.
“Ryou are you-”
“Whatever your about to say, shut up you pervert.” Ryou interrupted. He knew Jou well enough to know whatever he was going to say was going to be embarrassing, for him. And, despite what Jou liked to say, he wasn’t a biker whore…
Jou smirked some, then shoved his hands into his pockets. The bus was going to be coming in about ten minutes, twenty if he decided not to go home with Ryou…but he probably was. Going home wasn’t an idea he was in love with at the present.
The motorcycle was down the street now; Ryou could see it coming towards them. He titled his head off to the side to get a betlooklook as the person went past, but was startled when the bike actually slowed down and stopped in front of him. He was even more shocked, to the point of silence and staring, when he realized it was Bakura, the bassist whose image decorated his bedroom walls.
Not that he was going to say that out loud or anything, but it was true. He licked his bottom lip, willing himself not to drool or act like an idiot. Maybe if he just didn’t speak at all…
“You were at the club right?” Ryou nodded eagerly. The teen on the bike smiled then glanced sideways at Jou. “You doing anything right now?”
Ryou looked torn. He looked at Jou then back to the bassist of his every wet dream, then back to Jou, good sweet Jou who always called in the morning, then back at Bakura who’d probably kick him out of the hotel room when they were done. In his head it was an easy contest.
So why was it giving him so much trouble?
Jou looked at the guy on the bike. He looked about Jou’s height, with dark brown eyes bordering on black and hair that had silver roots. The rest was inky black and came to just below his ear. He was wearing all black, except for the silver necklace around his neck. It didn’t take long to register him as one of the members of the band, whose name he still didn’t know.
And he was inviting Ryou to…yeah. And Ryou looked like he was having trouble choosing. Oh…damn it.
“Fine, go.” Jou said, shaking his head in exasperation. Ryou brightened, looking like a huge weight had been taken off his shoulders. He fished out his house keys and pressed them into Jou’s hand, beaming at his friend.
“You can still go to my place, dad won’t care. Thank you.”
“Yeah yeah.” Jou muttered irritably. Ryou leaned up and kissed him quickly. He sighed, anger melting away instantly. “You are such a whore.”
“You’ve called me worse.” Ryou said, obviously not caring much. He climbed onto the bike behind the other teen and waved at Jou before squeaking. Bakura had taken off without warning and chuckled as the smaller boy’s grip tightened on his waist.
This he could get used to. He might even forgive that brat for nearly screwing up his chance at getting laid tonight.
He headed for the hotel, being the only one without an actual place in Domino. Yugi and Yami could always stay with Yugi’s grandfather, Seto and Mokuba had the mansion, Mai and Duke haeir eir own apartment and he…well he had nothing.
Never had and when this band thing was over he probably would be right back at nothing. But hey, it hadn’t been so bad before; he’d survived it right? That’s why he couldn’t get to used to this star shit or get soft. In the end he was going to go back to the street and stealing. And he was surprisingly okay with that.
He glanced back at the teen clutching him. Cute and definitely fuckable…not to mention willing to do whatever it took to get him in bed. Two years ago this boy wouldn’t giv given him a second glance. He really wasn’t too sure what to think about that. It was either slightly depressing or it spoke volumes about people and what they would do to be close to someone famous.
He was willing to go with both of those thoughts at the moment.
Ryou laid his cheek against Bakura’s back, enjoying the warmth coming from the taller teen. This was a position he might have had a dream about once or twice, but never thought for a secoe’d e’d be in. Nhat hat he was complaining. He was excited, and not just in a sexual way, though he was excited that way as well.
But honestly, how many people got to speak to their favorite musician let alone…well fuck them. He wasn’t dumb and knew what to expect. Not that he made a habit of doing this kind of thing, but he knew better then to expect anything from this other then a few hours of fun. Probably mind numbing fun and maybe a whole night if the rumors about Bakura were even halfway true, but he digressed.
He lifted his head a little and watched the city flash by. They were moving a lot faster then all of the cars on the street, even though there were only a few cars out. He wondered idly where they were going and loosened his grip a little bit. He wanted use of his hands, but wasn’t about to let go and become road kill either.
He was sure his father would love getting a call from the police letting him know his son had been run over after falling off the bike of some bi-sexual rock star, while wearing a skirt and looking like a slut catholic school girl.
Nope, that idea wasn’t appealing at all.
He worked one hand into the tight confines of Bakura’s shirt. (A/N: Smirks at all the readers who thought it was going to be jeans) He stroked the skin there, smiling a little bit, before moving his hand up some, taking in the smooth flesh inch by inch.
Bakura laughed. “Are you trying to make us crash?”
“Maybe.” Ryou whispered before licking the shell of the other teen’s ear. Bakura turned slightly and smiled at him before turning his attention back to the road ahead of them. Encouraged Ryou leaned forward a little more and pulled at Bakura’s earlobe with his teeth then sucked a little bit, causing the taller boy to groan softly.
His hand continued its path up as he moved his lips to the lightly tanned neck, nipping lightly as he went down. He rubbed his thumb over Bakura’s nipple. He was rewarded with another soft groan. Bakura shifter ever so slightly then sighed softly.
“Keep doing that and we won’t make it to my hotel.”
“Somehow I doubt you mean to do me on your bike.” He smiled some. “Not enough room to move.”
Bakura just laughed and gunned the engine, picking up speed. Ryou laughed and went back to clutching at him. Bakura slowed a bit and smiled to himself.
Maybe he’d let this one stay the night.
*Mutters something about Bakura being a fucking anti-hero* *blinks at the readers* *coughs nervously* Don’t mind me…I’ll be quiet now.
