I don’t own Yu-Gi-Oh. Life sucks, but don’t rub it in.
Author: Rochelle B
Rating: Eventual NC-17 (Or hard R, depending on the site.)
Summery: They stood at the side of the Pharaoh and when he fell were banished. In the present Jou is haunted by dreams of two lovers. Seto has dreams of a pharaoh and his consort. And Bakura feels darkness rising.
Pairings: Yami/Seto/Yugi, Yami/Yugi, Ryou/Bakura, Malik/Marik, Mokuba/Serenity, Mai/Bandit Keith, Tristian/Duke, and ?/Jou/?. [Smirk] I’m not tellllling. It’ll be obvious soon, but still. Not telling.
Warnings: Anzu bashing. I’m sorry, but I hate that broad. I figure the fact I identify more with Malik than Yugi could be why she bothers me so much. Eh. Hot Gay Man Sex (Because I as a married woman think it‘s fucking hot. If you don‘t like it I think you‘re qualified to use the back button), and I promise no Original Characters as main characters.

Chapter Two
Wanted Dead Or Alive
-------------------------------
“Hey Jou.” Yugi said, waving the other teen over. He was sitting under a tree with their usual group: Tea, Tristian, and Ryou. Ryou and Yugi looked to be in the middle of a duel but, as there were no weird floating letters or dissolving bodies, Jou assumed it was a normal game. He sat down next to them while reaching over and taking a candy from Ryou’s lunch pail. The white haired boy glanced at him from the corner of his eye .
Jou paused. “You aren’t going to go all psycho and try to kill me are you? Because I’ll put it back.”
Ryou laughed and shook his head brown eyes full of mirth. “No Jou it’s safe to keep it. My yami was asleep on the couch when I left this morning and I’ve never known Bakura to kill over chocolate.”
“Of course not. He’ll kill me for the fun of it, the candy is just an excuse.” Nonetheless he put the candy into his mouth. Ryou frowned, lips pursed in thought, before he nodded.
“Yes, I suspect you’re right.”
The five of them went to Domino University together though there was a general unspoken consensus that Ryou and Jou were the only ones going for legitimate reasons. Yugi was just going to inherit the game shop, Tea planned to go to a dance school in America once she got accepted, and Tristian planned to take over his father’s motorcycle shop once he had the money to buy the man out.
Ryou and Jou however had no actual definable plans for the future and were hoping to figure something out by the time they left University.
“Hey, are you doing anything tonight Jou?” Yugi asked quietly, eyes darting over to Tea who’s head was bopping along to whatever was in her CD player. Jou shook his head.
“I’m free Yug. What’s up?”
Again Yugi looked at Tea. “I need you to go to the Kaiba mansion with me tonight. Mokuba wants to speak to you and asked me to ask you.”
“Mokuba called you to ask me to come over?” Jou asked blinking. Why would the kid do something like that? Sure, his brother wasn’t worth a damn but Mokuba was like a little brother to him and certainly didn’t need to call Yugi to speak to him.
‘Unless dad forgot to pay the phone bill again.’
“Yes. Um…he’ll explain it tonight.” Yugi said looking a touch nervous. Jou arched an eyebrow but didn’t get a chance to question it because the bell rang announcing the end of lunch. Jou sighed, kicking himself for not remembering to pack a lunch of his own, and grabbed one last candy from Ryou, who just chuckled then tilted the container in offering.
“Ryou you don’t-”
“Take them. My father brought three home from England two weeks ago, before he left for Scotland, and I haven’t even eaten through the half of the first one.” He paused shaking his head. “If I don’t eat them all soon I’ll have to give them to my yami and he can be scary when he’s sugar high.”
“You say that like he isn’t always scary.” Tristian muttered standing up. Tea stood as well, sliding off her ear phones and stretching some. She then turned wide blue eyes on Yugi who visibly flinched. Jou chuckled.
Poor guy. It was so clear that Tea had a crush on him yet Yugi seemed to become the virtual deer in the highlights every time the girl paid attention to him.
“Yugi I was wondering… maybe you’d like to go the Arcade with me tonight?”
“I…I…Jou and I are doing something!” Yugi said in a rush before turning and running. He waved over his shoulder at them. “I’ll see you later.”
Tea sighed then, grabbing her things, stalked off. Tristian watched her go then rolled his eyes heavenward. It was a well known fact that Tristian and Tea didn’t care for each other in the least and the only reason they associated was because Yugi liked them both.
“Come on we should get to class.” Ryou said quietly. “I heard that Sensei Thomas left for maternity leave and there’s someone new in charge of Ancient Religions.”
Tristian, Ryou, and Jou were in the same class for school while Tea and Yugi were alone. Though one may argue that Yugi was very rarely, if ever, truly alone.
They walked into the building and room A-5, stopping to check their names from the attendance list, before sitting down.
Ryou took out his notebook, which was a nice orderly affair full of perfectly taken notes and papers in the order they had received them. Jou and Tristian’s were a considerable amount less orderly and neat but with Ryou’s help they had everything they needed.
The door opened and a man who looked slightly older than they were strode inside. Jou glanced at him quickly then went back to his task of finding out where they’d left off with Thomas. Then he looked again, heart thudding in his ears. Violet eyes regarded the class carefully and something in Jou twisted at the sight of them. His mouth went dry and try as he might no amount of swallowing would fix it. His stomach fluttered and he swore he could feel his blood racing through his veins.
It wasn’t that the man was overly attractive. He was very handsome and there was no denying it, but not so handsome that he should have made Jou feel faint. He was tall, maybe the same height as Tristian, with thick dark blue-purple hair, currently held back with a piece of blue fabric. Some had escaped however and fanned across his cheek only to curl under his chin. His eyes were a smoky violet color that seemed much older than the rest of him. His skin was milky white though freckles dusted his nose.
“Hello class, I’m Sensei Magi but I find that terribly formal and uncomfortable so you may all call me Derek.” The man sat on the edge of his desk and watched them all from behind shaded half-moon glasses (1). “I was recently on a dig with Professor Bakura in Ireland and England but, while he and the rest of the team went to Scotland to play in the dirt, I decided to take a break and work at the museum. Teaching however has always been my passion and my boss suggested that I take over for a friend of his.”
He pushed a strand of inky purple-blue hair behind his ear before continuing. “I’ll be here with you for the rest of the year. I know I must seem rather young and it may be hard to take me seriously but I assure you I am very qualified. Some of the things you’ve learned about I’ve actually touched, seen, and experienced for myself. Now,” He flashed them a smile and a few girls swooned. “Any questions?”
‘Yes.’ Jou thought suddenly very dizzy. ‘Who are you and why are you making me feel this way?’
“Just how old are you?” A blond girl in the front asked.
Derek smiled again. “Twenty-five.”
“Do you have a girlfriend?”
“Hmm…” Derek pursed his lips thoughtfully. “I’m in a long-term relationship with someone I care a great deal about and fully intend to marry one day. We met in Ireland three years ago when I got lost on one of the old Roman built roads.”
The girls sighed, struck by both the romantic thoughts he had filled their head with (Of midnight encounters with their dream man and helping him find safety and shelter.) as well as disappointment.
No other questions could be asked because rather suddenly a thud came from the back corner of the room followed by a yelp. Ryou was on his feet, hand over his mouth, while Tristian knelt next to Jou who looked to have…passed out.
Derek arched an eyebrow and slid off of his desk. “I never thought I was that appalling. Bakura-san run and fetch the nurse would you?”
Ryou blinked up at him clearly startled then nodded and ran from the room. The man knelt next to Tristian who looked up at him panic clear. Derek touched Jou carefully then lifted his head slightly to touch the back.
“No blood or lumps, so I imagine he’ll be fine. It looks like he became overheated. See how flushed he is?” His tone was soft and soothing and Tristian found himself relaxing despite himself. He had the feeling the man was speaking purely for his benefit but appreciated the gesture greatly.
Once he found out what was wrong with Jou he’d be sure to thank the man. He completely missed Derek’s calm considering look and the way the man very delicately moved the hair from Jou’s face and tucked it behind the unconscious boy’s ear.
-----------------------------------
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Tristian asked. Jou nodded as he waved off his friend’s concern. Yugi was standing nearby, as was Tea, and fussing over the blond who looked increasingly annoyed. Ryou held back and watched, mind elsewhere.
‘I wonder what happened to make him faint like that.’
{It was the pouncy teacher.} The voice of his yami sneered in his mind.
[Yami stop that. There is nothing wrong with Derek.]
{Bullshit. There is something off about his energy. Too much darkness in it.} Ryou rolled his eyes. Leave it to his yami to get all worked up over nothing. {I’m telling you there is something off about your fathers little friend. I didn’t like him when we first met him at your little reunion thing with your sperm donor-}
[Bakura!]
{And I don’t like him now.} Bakura concluded. {He made your little dog friend collapse in your classroom, I know it.}
“I believe you just overheated.” The nurse was saying while handing Jou a cup of water. “Drink more fluids and I’m sure you’ll be just fine.”
[There you go yami, he overheated. How exactly do you think Derek caused that?]
{I don’t know. He was fuckable, but I’m not sure the dog swings that way.}
“Bakura!” Ryou gasped eyes going wide. His friends and the nurse all turned to stare at him with varying degrees of worry. He blushed and looked away nervously. “Sorry. The voice in my head said something perverse.”
Yugi giggled while Tristian and Jou looked more at ease. The nurse arched an eyebrow but stood up and left the small examination room nonetheless. Or maybe his outburst motivated her to move, who could really be sure of such things. Tea however has a very severe frown on her face. Bakura muttered something about her face sticking that way and Ryou had to fight a very uncharacteristic smirk from gracing his features.
“Honestly Ryou Jou just fainted. Can’t you make that evil spirit of yours shut up?”
{I’ll shut up when she shuts up.} Bakura said primly and Ryou got a flash of his yami stretched out on the couch reading ‘Swords and Guns’ magazine. {And not a moment before.}
“Tea it’s not like its something Ryou can really control.” Yugi, ever the peace maker, said softly. “If Bakura wants to speak to Ryou he will.”
Tea sniffed and crossed her arms over his chest. “I don’t see why he has to listen. Jou is his friend and he’s hurt, that…thing isn’t half as important as actual living people are. He‘s just some kind of disembodied echoy psycho spirit.”
Yugi winced and Ryou knew her words stung him a great deal more than they had he, her intended target. He didn‘t worry about his yami because Bakura could more than take care of himself. Bakura too seemed mildly offended. Though to be perfectly honest, mildly offended wasn’t a hard level for the thief to make it to, since Bakura existed in a constant state of annoyance and anger.
{Why that little friendship spewing whore. What’s her problem? Did Yugi spurn her obvious attempts at throwing herself at him down again? Hasn’t she realized he’s almost as queer as you are? Someone needs to smack her-}
[Yami calm yourself. She isn’t worth getting worked up.]
{Like hell.} Bakura growled. Ryou received another image. This time it was his yami pacing the living room floor with his arms behind his back, growling. His sharp incisors where plainly visible and the low noise coming from the back of his throat was borderline frightening.
Ryou frowned. Bakura normally didn’t give Tea so much as a second thought yet today he seemed genuinely…hurt at what she’d had to say. It didn’t make any sense, since his yami didn’t do hurt, unless it involved hurting others.
Ryou didn’t understand it himself since he personally thought Tea who only slightly above the average leech on the evolutionary scale.
His yami started laughing at his stray thoughts and Ryou could feel the anger and tension drain away from the spirit. Yugi was still trying to play peacemaker.
“Tea please be reasonable. Bakura means a lot to Ryou; he’s his yami.” Yugi frowned for a moment, clearly searching for words to say what he was trying to explain.
“I don’t see why he cares.” Tea sniffed. “He’s tried to kill all of us and take over the world a dozen times and you all know it.”
Yugi sighed. “He was only serious the first few times. He hasn’t caused any serious trouble since he and Yami agreed to that truce with Malik and Marik.”
“Only because those two make Bakura looked like the perfect picture of mental stability.” Jou muttered from around his cup. Ryou was inclined to agree.
{That and the fact annoying Pharaoh is more fun than taking over the world could ever hope to be.} His yami said almost gleefully. Ryou smiled wryly. Well, whatever it took to keep the spirit amused and not killing people was fine by him.
“Hey, Tea, shouldn’t you be going back to class?” Tristian asked innocently. “I mean, you don’t want it going on your record that you ran out and didn’t come back, do you? That’s not the mark of a reliable person you know.”
“Oh my god!” She looked shocked. “You’re right! No one is going to want someone who can’t even get to and from class like she should! I’ll have to call you later Yugi.” And with that she was gone, leaving a strained silence behind.
Finally Jou spoke.
“She’ll call Yugi? What about me, the guy who just blacked out, hit his head, and was used as her argument against Ryou? Do I get a call?”
Yugi sweatdropped. “I’m sure she was just distracted Jou. Tea cares about you as much as all the rest of us, you know that.”
“She’s just easily distracted by shiny objects and leather wearing midgets.” Ryou deadpanned. He took a momentary delight in the shocked looks his friends graced him with. You’d have thought they’d have known better than to be shocked at the occasional out of place remark by now.
After all, he’d learned from the best.
{Damn straight.} Bakura agreed. {Besides, I like it when you shock those idiots Ryou. You’d make me proud if you weren’t such a damn wuss the rest of the time.}
[I love you too yami.]
{Bah.}
----------------------
Bakura shut the link with Ryou and looked down at himself. Or through himself to more accurate. Without Ryou in close proximity he couldn’t become a solid body. Sure, he could take over Ryou’s body whenever he wanted, but it wasn’t as much fun as it used to be. Besides, Ryou had gotten stronger mentality and fought like a wounded wolf when he wanted to.
Bakura wasn’t in the mood for the headache.
He’d also discovered that when Ryou was close to him, within a few meters, who could form his own body, independent of Ryou. It wasn’t really sure what use having a body he could only use in the presence of his sickeningly benign Light was, but he wasn’t going to complain about it.
Besides, it wasn’t like the idiot pharaoh was much better off and that was a good thing. That meant they were just about evenly matched.
Truce or not, Bakura still owed the man for what had happened to him all those years ago in Egypt.
“You, Bakura, have been found guilty of tomb robbing. By decree of the pharaoh your punishment shall be to have all the treasure you crave, for eternity.” He’d been confused for a moment. They were giving him the things he’d tried to steal? “You will be locked and sealed in the treasure room of the tombs, never to be released and to have your spirit roam among the things you tried to steal.”
He was seized by two silver haired blue-eyed guards who he identified as the high priest’s own personal guard. There were two other ones but where they were he couldn’t say. Not that he cared.
He was too busy mulling over his fate.
Eternity. Locked away. Just the thought made him feel cold inside.
-----------------------------------
“He fainted?”
“Yes, Kelvin, I swear.” Derek sighed and fell back into his lover’s grasp. “He fainted. I called an end to class and came straight home. Much too stressful for my first day.”
“Wuss.” The younger man said affectionately. His voice was colored by a slight accent that seemed to hover between Scottish and Irish, hinting at his duel upbringing. Derek nodded and burrowed deeper into the safety of the other man’s arms.
“Quite”
Kelvin chuckled and threaded his fingers through the teacher’s hair. “My poor silly scholar. Is there anything I can do to help?”
“Actually we’re about to study Animism. If you could come and speak to my class about it…”
“Aren’t you the religion expert?”
“Yes. But this is your heritage. I just study it, you live it.”
“Bow before my pagan ways.” Kelvin snickered. “Just tell me when. As long as I’m not working at the museum you’ve got me.”
“Thanks.”
