"What do you think of this outfit, Malik?" Miza asked her emerald eyes looking questioningly into Malik's pale purple ones. "I think it looks good on and off you." he smirked devilishly. She rolled her eyes and proceeded to look for an outfit. Satire had a modeling show to do and she had invited all her friends to come see her. She had big hopes that she would some day become the next top model of the world. Everyone knew that she really hated working at the Eclipse. She didn't feel the bar brought out the best in her. "O.k. I found something, Malik." Miza said excitedly and very pleased with her choice. Malik sighed with relief. He had been waiting for her to find something to wear for an hour and a half. "Great now put it on so we can go." After Miza was dressed she looked herself up and down in the mirror, twirling, and admiring herself. "Ay, Malik?" she questioned after a while. Malik grunted in reply as he laid lazily on the bed. Taking the noise as a comfirmation, Miza continued, "Do you think that Yami will come? I mean I'm sure he knows that Zaire will be there." Malik turned his head from the blanket so he could be heard easily, "Well, maybe since he really wants to apologize to her, he just might, I would." He responded as he lifted off the bed to stretch. "Maybe." Miza replied idly. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yami walked aimlessly down the road. He wanted to go see his friend Satire start on her big career as a model, but he knew everyone would be there and he wasn't ready to face them, especially Zaire. He had no clue how he was going to fix this. He wished it were like it used to be. Them running around in the park without a worry in the world. Just being best friends always and forever. But once junior high had started, and feeling started to arise, he couldn't hold his feeling for her in any longer. Damn hormones. Not that he regretted being with her…it's just… he would have never hurt her before. Had so much changed between them, so much that the simple and always reliable `I'm sorry' just didn't cut it anymore? Man…relationships weren't as easy as he thought. All this time they had been living the good life. He always thought of Seto and Satire's arguments as insignificant and unnecessary, Lavie's jealously and anger toward any girl that touch Bakura as illogical, and Malik and Miza's need to be around each other all the time as nonsensical. But now he saw that those were just signs of love and the building blocks of a relationship. Although, Zaire believes that the building block of love is trust, something he doesn't believe he'll ever get back. But, he would have to find a way to prove himself to her. Some way to make her see that he's nothing without her. He breathed a sigh, it was getting late out and he noticed that dark clouds were gathering up a head. It was nights like this that Zaire and he would just walk and talk; talk about the day, the night…life…just anything that came to mind. They'd laugh and just enjoy being in each other's presence. He just couldn't lose that. He hoped that he hadn’t already lost that. Tears threatened to roll from his eyes. He was supposed to be her joy, yet he had just caused her the greatest pain she ever felt. He was a heartless bastard, just like his father. At the thought of his father he knew he needed to stop. He hadn't seen the man for fifteen years. He had left his mother and him when he was three. Oh, well, it was only dirt off his boot. He didn't need him.
Once Yami had reached the park, he decided to turn around and continue his thinking at home where it would probably be warmer. It was pretty cool thanks to the on coming storm. His mind continued to ponder on what he could do to make Zaire happy. He thought about all the things that had made her happy in order to think of an idea.
Lavie, their inside girl, had told him that Zaire wasn't showing much emotion to the situation, that in all truthfulness she was acting her normal happy self. That information didn't really surprise him, she wasn't one to show sorrow for a long time. Besides this way it might be easier to talk to her.
He turned the corner as he stared at his feet. He looked up as he heard footsteps and crashed into someone sending them both sprawling to the ground.
"Please forgive me, I'd didn't mean too. I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." Yami stated as he helped the person up. "Oh, its o.k. I was in a bit of a daze as well." The person stated as muddy green eyes looked up into those of ruby red widening with surprise and excitement. "Yami!" the person screeched."Serenity!"

Zaire laughed as she watched her friends quarrel over the punch. Satire had gone over to get a cup, but found Lavie and Miza smiling as she poured herself some. She immediately poured it back and started fussing at them for spiking the punch and how they would ruin her first job chance ever. They stood on their defense swearing they were innocent.
Zaire shook her head as they continued, she took a sip of her drink, spiked or not. She looked over her cup scanning the area for someone, but failing miserably. She sighed, bringing her cup down near her waist and tapping if gently still searching. "Looking for someone?" Zaire turned, startled by the sudden comment, "Seto, you surprised me." She said placing her hand upon her heart, "No, no. I'm not searching for anyone." She placed her hair behind her ear, a nervous habit, done especially when she lied. Seto smirked, "I see." "What's that mean?" she asked offended. Seto made a face of hurt and shock, "Nothing. I wasn't trying to offend you, forgive me, please." He mocked. She laughed lightly, "I know you can see straight through me Seto," she sighed, "truth is, I want desperately to forgive him, but…how can I? He really…hurt me." Seto nodded in understanding. He looked out into the crowd, also wondering why Yami hadn't shown up. Even with his problems, it was a friend's duty to be there for your friends and this was Satire's big night. Seto looked over at Zaire seeing her watching the entrance hopelessly. "Would you like to dance?" he questioned as a slow song came on. She smiled, "I would, thank you." She took his hand and was led out onto the dance floor, the one place where she could forget all her problems. She smiled as she leaned forward on Seto smiling at Satire as she smiled back. She was happy Satire trusted her like this. She knew she would be pissed if she saw any other girl all over Yami. She shook her head at the thought of Yami. She cleared her mind and just let the gentle beat of the music and relaxing sway of dancing take her away.

Yami placed the coffee on the table and smiled at Serenity.
"It's been a while, how are you?" Serenity smiled taking a sip of her coffee before she answered, "I'm fine. The business has been booming. Actually, that's why I'm here. The company has been doing so well in America, we figured it would be wise to try to make it national. Of course I chose my homeland for the project. I figure if it doesn't work here, I doubt it'll work anywhere." Yami nodded his head showing his interest, "So you must be very rich and well known in America." "Oh yes, but I don't let it get to my head. You never know what could happen if you start being pompous and brash." She took another sip of her coffee. Yami smiled, "Well if you ever feel the need to give an old friend a good deal on starting a business, please let me know." Serenity laughed, "I will." She looked around the house noticing a difference. "Is it just me or did you get a new decorator?" Yami shook his head, "No, this is Zaire's doing. She said it was too dank in here." Serenity's eyes widened, "Oh, so you two are an idol now, huh?" she said in an almost disappointed voice. "Were." Yami stated sadly. Serenity smiled inwardly, "What happened?" she faked concerned. "I don't want to talk about it." Yami stated evasively. Serenity put here hand over Yami's, rubbing it smoothly, "Why not? Come on, this is what friends are for." Yami watched Serenity's hand as it moved up his arm. He pulled back suddenly, standing from his chair becoming very uncomfortable, "No, it's quite alright. What about you? How's your love life?" he asked changing the subject. Serenity sighed, "It's fine. Not much to it." She looked at Yami and stood, "Yami, you know it was meant for you and me to be together. I told you it wouldn't work out between you two. Come on, you use to like me." "But that was a long time ago and you turned me down. Besides, Zaire and I didn't work out because of me. I just need to straighten everything out and it'll be fine." Yami sighed sensing disaster coming, "Maybe you should go." Yami stated as he got Serenity's coat and opened the door for her. Serenity sighed and looked down crest fallen, "Fine," she kissed Yami in a short but caring way, " but know I'm always here for you. I'll be in town for a while if you need anything-" "I know." Yami cut her off, "Goodnight." "Goodnight." Serenity stated as she walked out the door.Yami sighed and shut the door. His shoulder's sagged as he headed to take a shower and try to get some sleep.

Zaire walked slowly down the street wrapping her coat tighter around herself to shield her body from the cold. She had left the party early since they had started to do couple dances and she had no one to dance with. She shivered. This night was really chilly. She stopped in front of the house that she lived in. Actually, Yami and she both lived here. She hadn't slept here last night due to anger, but tonight she didn't feel like going all the way to Lavie's. Besides, Bakura and Lavie needed some time together and she didn't want to impose. She picked up the mat that lay on the ground with the words `You're Always Welcomed' written across it. She loved that rug the minute she saw it. She felt as though the message displayed her personality, Yami had agreed instantly. She took the key that lay underneath from its hiding place and opened the door, placing the key back under the mat and closing the door. She saw the light of the coffee machine on and went over to turn the electronic device off. She then went into the living room and picked up the glasses sitting on the table. `Guess Yami had company.' She thought to herself as she placed the glasses into the sink. She checked for anything else to be cleaned and seeing as there was none she turned off the lights and headed up toward their room. As she entered the room and saw Yami laying on the bed, she debated with herself on rather or not she should sleep on the sofa; however, on remembering how uncomfortable she was sleeping the night before without him, she decided to just lay with him and hopefully awaken before he did. She took off her clothes and changed into a comfortable nightgown. She pulled back the covers and settled into the bed. She stared at Yami longingly. She wanted to forgive him, but she couldn't make it that easy for him; she had to make him suffer and when he was at his breaking point, then and only then, could she let him back into her life. She turned around facing the window and shut her eyes clearing her mind of everything and thinking only of sleep. Yami opened his eyes staring at Zaire's back. He smiled slightly, glad that she'd still lay with him. He took a breath and turned the other way facing the door. This was far from common for them; there was such awkwardness about it. He lowered his eyes sadly regretting and hating himself once again for his stupidity. Zaire turned over to face Yami's back. She sighed as she scooted closer to him leaning her head against his back. She couldn't help it. She needed him, but she still couldn't forgive him. Yami turned over feeling the contact his lover was willing to make. He wrapped his arms around her expecting rejection, but when it was not given he laid his head upon hers. They both lay still upon the bed. Not even the sound of breathing was heard. It was an awkward yet comfortable silence. They each made themselves more relaxed in the others embraced before they allowed sleep to claim their minds. ~~~~~~ Please Review! While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
