Chapter Two
Seto Kaiba turned in his white leather chair to stare out the tinted windows of his Executive office for the tenth time that day, the hundredth time that week and, if truth be told, the thousandth time that month.
That's how long it had been since that unfortunate night at the Dark Realm when his path had crossed Wheeler's. And for the thousandth time he wondered what the stupid Mutt had been doing in a shady hole like that in the first place. Was he really that hard up for cash that he had to sell himself like a piece of meat? The answer to that question haunted him more than he cared to admit and he wondered for the thousandth time why the idiot hadn't come to him if he needed the money that badly. Although, he knew the answer to that question, as well. Joey Wheeler would sell himself to a perverted stranger a million times over before he ever stooped as low as to ask Seto Kaiba for even one yen.
When had he ever given the blond the impression that they were friends and he could come to Seto for help? 'Never. Not once in the five years you've known him!' His mind screamed for the thousandth time causing him to physically flinch as his conscience ate away at his perfectly polished exterior. And for the thousandth time, Kaiba had to suppress the impulse to find out just what kind of trouble the stupid Mutt was in.
Finally, curiosity got the better of him and he swivelled in his chair to face the desk. Just as his fingers were reaching for the phone there was a tentative knock at his office door then a long, drawn out pause as the person on the other side of that door waited patiently for Kaiba to admit them. His nerves, already stressed to the breaking point from lack of food and a good nights' sleep, snapped with barely controlled fury at the intrusion.
“What the fuck do you want?” The enraged CEO yelled across his office.
Slowly the doorknob turned and just as slowly the door opened wide enough for Kaiba's Corporate Secretary to poke her head inside and look around. Seto eloquently placed his elbows on his desktop, steepled his fingers and waited impatiently for her to respond. When none came, he started to tap his fingers together, showing his annoyance, and ground out through clenched teeth, “What can I do for you, Miss Rhodes?”
She brought her dainty hand up to cover her mouth and nervously cleared her throat, then she replied in a very mousy tone barely audible across the expanse of the executive office, “Sorry to bother you, Mr. Kaiba, but I haven't been able to reach you on the intercom.”
“That's because I turned it off.” He countered. “I don't want to be disturbed.”
“Yes, of course.” She stated clearing her throat again. “Well, you know I wouldn't intrude unless it was extremely important, sir, but your brother's been trying to reach you for the last two hours.”
“WHAT?” He exclaimed as he slapped his palms on the polished, ebony desktop and abruptly stood up, knocking his chair back a good two feet with the force of his fury. He levelled a menacing stare at her and softly drawled, enunciating every word carefully. “When I say I don't want to be bothered, I mean by anyone except my little brother. Is that understood?” he demanded and continued without waiting for an answer. “Get him on the display immediately.” He finished, reaching for his chair to sit back down.
Moments later Mokuba's youthful face appeared on the brunette's computer screen. “Hey big brother!” His light-hearted voice boomed out a cheerful greeting. “Busy day?”
At the sight of his little brother's charming features, Kaiba physically relaxed and, closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and let out a pent-up sigh. God, he couldn't believe how much he missed that sunny disposition of his. He swore, sometimes Mokuba was the only thing that kept him human. Lacing his fingers together and placing them in his lap, he crossed his legs and shook his head.
“Not really. Just not in the mood to be disturbed today.” Kaiba replied, opening his eyes.
“You haven't been in the 'mood to be disturbed' every day for the last month. What's up, big brother?” Mokuba asked, his voice showing only the slightest hint of concern.
“Nothing. Just got a lot on my mind, that's all.”
Mokuba tilted his head to the side and silently studied his brother for the first time in ages. He could have sworn he'd heard just the tiniest bit of regret in his voice and that bothered him. Seto Kaiba didn't regret anything.
Thanks to the advance technology the brunette always insisted existed throughout their personal and business lives, the computer screen in front of him displayed every one of his brother's features with crystal clarity. The raven-haired teen could see the deep shadows under his eyes, the gaunt hollows of his face and the way his expensively tailored suit hung from his usually taut, muscular form. Obvious evidence that he had lost weight from lack of eating and hadn't slept a descent night in weeks. Mokuba would have chalked it up to the fact that Seto missed him terribly, but he'd been gone for almost a year now and this sickly version of his once proud brother had only just appeared.
Not buying his excuse for one moment the teenager moved to comment when Kaiba abruptly cut him off. “Don't bother asking, little brother, I'm not in the mood to discuss it.”
“But Seto…” He began to protest.
“Mokie…” Kaiba pleaded, using his pet name to drive home just how much he really didn't want to elaborate.
The raven-haired teen heaved a deep sigh and gave up. Deciding instead to fall back on the reason he'd been trying to reach his brother in the first place, Mokuba began to run down a list of things that were finally starting to go right for a change.
Kaiba watched in fascination as his little brother's eyes lit up with excitement and a huge smile enveloped his angelic features. The kid's good nature was contagious and Seto began to feel some of the tension easing out of his taut, rigid body.
“That is good news.” Kaiba announced with a smile when the teenager had finished his report. “See, I knew you could take care of things if only you gave yourself the chance.”
Mokuba hung his head and responded shyly, “I know. I was just so worried I was going to disappoint you.”
Closing his eyes, Kaiba shook his head and stated gently, “Mokie, you could never disappoint me. I love you more than life itself.”
“I love you too, big brother.” He exclaimed with glee, his eyes lighting up once again to show that youthful innocence Seto adored so much.
His good nature restored, Mokuba tried broaching the previous topic one last time. “Seto?” He implored. “I wish you'd tell me what's bothering you.”
Kaiba sighed again, knowing if he didn't come up with a better excuse, his little brother was never going to drop the subject. He shrugged his shoulders and decided to blame work for his emotional state of mind. “You know how it is kiddo, I've just been under a lot of stress lately in regards to our project. Mr. Ebisu and the Board of Directors have been breathing down my neck for every little snag we've been hitting and because of that I haven't had the chance to leave the office and go out for months.”
There. That sounded plausible.
Mokuba bought it hook, line and sinker.
“Well, now that things are looking up, maybe you can get away and have a good time for once.”
“Sounds like a plan, kiddo.” Seto smiled affectionately, glad the excuse had worked.
“Great!” Mokuba cheered. “I'll call Roland as soon as we're done talking and set something up.”
“Tonight?” Kaiba exclaimed almost jumping out of his chair.
“Sure, why not?” The raven-haired teen asked innocently as his brother frantically searched his mind for a quick and easy solution.
“Its just…well, you see, I'm busy tonight.” He stammered.
“Seto?”
“I have some business proposals to go over.”
“Seto.”
“And some financial statements to review.” Kaiba protested further. He could see Mokuba wasn't buying it.
“BIG BROTHER!” He cried in dismay as he stomped his foot and levelled his older sibling with a picture-perfect 'Seto Kaiba' stare. And that's when the brunette knew he had lost. With a deep sigh Kaiba relented.
“Fine. I'll go out and do something tonight. But,” he added spearing his brother with a hardened stare of his own. “I'll make the arrangements.”
“Promise?” Mokuba pushed.
“Yes.”
“Good. Then have a good time, big brother, and I'll talk to you later.” With Kaiba's pledge tucked safely away in his heart, Mokuba signed off with a generous ear-to-ear grin.
'Imp,' Kaiba chuckled with a shake of his head. A tiny smile dancing across his fine, aristocratic features as the stoic CEO swung around and returned to his view of the city. Bless his little brother for caring so much. Maybe the teen was right and Seto just needed to get out and relax. That might help him to forget about a certain irritating blond for just one night.

Joey Wheeler was in heaven. Kaiba's lips were the sweetest he'd ever tasted and he was getting the chance to taste them again.
He was surrounded by darkness. Either his eyes were covered or he just couldn't bring himself to open them. Whatever the cause, he couldn't see. But that didn't matter. Sight was only one of the five senses. He still had the ability to taste, hear, smell and touch. And what he tasted was honey as his tongue snaked out and licked his bottom lip. What he heard was a breathless moan, radiating heat throughout his entire body and settling in the pit of his soul as Kaiba's breath washed over his face like a lover's caress. He drew in a deep breath and the scent of spice filled his nostrils sending Joey's thoughts into a whirlwind of chaos. He groaned as he realized Kaiba smelled like pepper and fresh mint. His mouth watered at the prospect and his lips parted in wordless invitation.
And that's when his sense of touch was rewarded. Kaiba's mouth crashed down on his, strong and unyielding, punishing Joey's lips and demanding unconditional surrender. Which he gave without thought. He melted into those luscious lips and drove his tongue into Kaiba's mouth, feasting till his heart was content. Kaiba's own appendage returned the caress as both of them battled for control, neither one willing to give up the fight.
Suddenly, the kiss ended as abruptly as it had started and Joey was left feeling empty and cold. He turned his head from side to side, searching for his heart's desire, to no avail. Kaiba was gone. A tiny whimper escaped his lips and his hands shot out in desperation but there was nothing in front of him; nothing but air. Without the ability to see all Joey could do was stumble forward, hoping with all his heart, that he would bump into that lean, unyielding form.
Nothing.
He cried out again feeling abandoned and alone.
“Kaiba,” He whispered but the only sound to meet his ears was silence. It seemed to stretch out for an eternity and, disappointed, Joey was about to give up when he felt a large hand grab him from behind, encircling his throat and pulling him up against a firm, powerful chest.
Flesh settled against flesh and once again Joey was infused with the brunette's heat. He sighed as he leaned into that towering warmth, his relief turning his legs to rubber, causing him to fall to his knees and bringing Kaiba with him.
“Going somewhere, my little pet?” His voice was deep and husky and Kaiba's breath felt like spun silk against the side of Joey's face.
“I was lookin' fawr ya.” He replied.
“Why?”
“'Cause…” Joey hesitated, hanging his head in defeat, “I need ya.” He admitted.
“You need me?” The tone that questioned him seemed mocking and scornful.
“Yea'.”
“How bad?” Kaiba's husky voice purred in his ear.
“Ba’!” Joey cried and threw his head back against Kaiba's shoulder when the sexy brunette reached down and took hold of his swelling erection. His hands were strong and masterful, yet surprisingly gentle as he began to stroke Joey into a whirlwind of bliss. He moaned and arched his back as he moved his hips against Kaiba's own powerful erection, wanting something he had never wanted before.
The stoic CEO continued his assault on Joey's body and probed, “Is this what you wanted, Wheeler?”
“Yea'.” He cried again as he continued to grind his hips, every moment of contact with that beautiful, alabaster skin sending electrifying shocks up and down Joey's spine.
“Are you sure or was there something more?” Kaiba probed further. The deft fingers of his right hand glided down to the base of Joey's shaft, lightly brushing his engorged sack, then traveled back up to the tip, using forefinger and thumb to pinch a bead of fluid from his sensitive arousal. Joey arched his back and cried out again as his mind tried desperately to focus on Kaiba's questions. More? Did he want more? Yes, he definitely wanted more. But how much more was Kaiba willing to give? And how much more could Joey take?
“P’ease.” He begged, not realizing he'd spoken the plea aloud.
“Please, what?” Kaiba teased and Joey could almost hear the sadistic smile that spread across his gorgeous features.
“P’ease, make it stop.” He cried. The emotional turmoil welling up inside of him was too much and it threatened to overtake him. He whimpered as a single tear etched a bath down the right side of his face.
Kaiba chuckled in his ear and suddenly a warm, wet tongue snaked out and lapped up Joey's tear. At the same time his right hand finished its tortuous ministrations and moved to cup the firm flesh of Wheeler behind, parting him ever so slightly. A heartbeat later, Kaiba was buried deep inside; the sudden intrusion lifting the blond off the floor. No longer able to control the emotional pain that had been building up inside him, his body tensed and shuddered, finally finding its release. Another cry escaped his lips and echoed throughout the room. It bounced off the walls and returned to Joey causing an aggravated ringing to settle in his ears.
As the blond's mind became blissfully numb the sound in his ears intensified to a maddening annoyance.
Ring!
He blinked as it broke through the darkness and beckoned him back to the world of reality.
Ring, ring!
The sound persisted and Joey moaned as he blinked again, his mind finally focusing on the source of the irritation.
RING!
His hand shot out and grabbed the offending object automatically finding and pressing a familiar button.
“WHA'?!” He screamed into the phone.
“Time to wake up, buddy.” Came the immediate reply of an all too familiar voice.
“Tris’an?”
“You got it, man. Rise and shine, its time to go to work.”
Joey groaned.
“Come on, Sleeping Beauty, time to rejoin the world of the living.”
“Yea’, yea’. 'M up, 'm up.” He rasped as he sat up and swung his legs over the side of his bed.
“Are you sure?'
“Yea', 'm sure.”
“Okay, buddy.” Tristan acknowledged before continuing. “Look, I gotta get going. Brianna and I are having dinner over at her parents tonight.” There was a moment of silence while the brunette gave the blond time to adjust his thoughts, concern flooding his own. Lately, all Joey had been doing was working and Tristan was beginning to think his friend was trying to grind himself into an early grave. “Are you sure you're awake?” He asked once more, his voice filled with apprehension.
“Yea'.” Joey groaned again, rubbing sleep from his eyes and taking a moment to adjust to the gloom of his bedroom. The lingering affects of his dream still fresh in his mind. Another stretch of silence ensued before Tristan's words finally broke through the fog of unconsciousness. “Dinner at de parent's, eh?” He asked with genuine curiosity. More silence followed his question and Joey could have sworn he heard his friend blush. “Soun’s serious.”
“Maybe.” Was all Tristan managed to get out. “Look, I'm running late. Are you sure everything's alright?”
“Yea', 'm fine.” Joey paused. “'Ave a good time tonigh' an' I'll talk ta ya lader.”
“Okay buddy. 'Till then.”
“Yea', ya ta.” The blond replied sounding more alive. “An' T…” He added as an afterthought.
“Yeah?”
“T’anks fawr de wake-up call.”
“Anytime, buddy.”
And then the line went dead. Joey reached down and thumbed the button to end the call, then he casually tossed the phone on the rumpled blankets and groaned again as the images of his dream came back to haunt him. He'd lost track of the number of times he'd woken up, in the last month, with thoughts of Kaiba on his mind.
Running his lithe fingers through his thick blond hair, Joey arched his back and raised his arms above his head, then he stretched, long and languished, working out all the kinks in his tired muscles.
Since his chance meeting with the stoic CEO he'd started questioning his sexuality. Not a moment went by that Joey didn't find himself thinking about the handsome brunette in some way, shape or form. He'd never thought of himself as gay. If someone had even mentioned the possibility six months ago, Joey would have punched the living daylights out of them. But thoughts of Kaiba persisted, making him wonder, and he found himself more confused than ever.
Pulling himself out of his musings he chanced a look at the clock and noted the time. Eight o' one. He had half an hour to shower and get dressed before work.
Heaving a deep sigh, Joey stood and padded through his bedroom into the bathroom. Reaching for the taps, he turned on the water and waiting impatiently for it to warm up. A heartbeat later he was standing under the steady stream with arms braced against the wall, silently cursing the stiff erection that still plagued him from his lingering dream.
Reaching down, he took hold of himself and decided to put his images of Kaiba to good use.
* * *
Signing off on the last business proposal of the day, Kaiba heaved a deep sigh and reached out to shut down his computer. Casually, the brunette glanced at his watch. It was just after eleven at night.
He'd spent the remainder of the afternoon and the entire evening stretching out his work load doing everything in his power to put off keeping his promise to Mokuba. He wasn't in the mood to go out and mingle with people. He'd rather spend the rest of the night in darkness wallowing in self-pity.
With that last thought his head snapped upwards and Kaiba starred at his reflection in the computer screen. Where had that come from? He didn't lose himself in self-pity. He was Seto Kaiba, he didn't wallow in anything.
He levelled his reflection with an icy-blue stare and, placing his hands firmly on his desktop, he stood with new found purpose. Seto Kaiba didn't do self-pity and he'd be damned if he was going to start now.
Without thought, his right hand rose to finger the switch on his tiny transmitter. Before he had the chance to touch the Kc broach pinned to his lapel Roland's deep, timbred voice broke through the silence.
“Good evening, Mr. Kaiba.”
The unexpected greeting startled the brunette and Kaiba jumped. “God dammit, Roland!” He growled. “I hate it when you do that.”
“Sorry, Mr. Kaiba. I didn't mean to startle you.”
“I wasn't startled.” The CEO bit back in defiance.
“Of course not, Sir.” His Personal Assistant replied, sounding more smug then apologetic. Before Kaiba had the chance to bit out another retort Roland continued. “Master Mokuba asked me to remind you that you promised to venture out for the evening. Since it's getting late, I was wondering if I should bring the car around.”
Kaiba shook his head and silently chuckled to himself. Damn those two and their meddling ways. He swore it was a conspiracy and the two most important people in his life had been plotting against him for some time now. Casually, he wondered what they were going to interfere with next. Pushing the thought aside, Kaiba responded. “Yes. Meet me downstairs in half an hour.”
“As you wish, Mr. Kaiba.” He replied and then the office was silent. The brunette shook his head again. Was it his imagination or did Roland's voice sound even more smug then it had before?
With a deep sigh, the brunette conceded. Now that he was committed, he had no choice. Stepping back, Kaiba pushed his chair up against the ornate ebony desk and made his way over to the opposite side of the room. Approaching the wall, he raised his right hand and laid it softly against the expensive cream-coloured paint. To the average person it was nothing more than an ordinary expanse of wall. To Kaiba, it was a secret entrance to his personal suites below. The only other way to reach the two floors that made up the concealed living space was through his Private Lift and only if you entered a code that would allow the doors to open. Not even Mokuba had that information. These rooms were his and his alone and that's the way he intended to keep it.
With a gentle push, the wall retreated with an mechanized hiss revealing a singular flight of stairs. The second the hidden doorway had receded, lights appeared to illuminate the stairwell. Kaiba entered and began to make his decent. As soon as he stepped past the threshold the wall returned to its original position leaving the stoic CEO alone in the surprisingly large space.
When he reached the bottom, Kaiba's hand stretched out to open a polished chrome door revealing a lavishly decorated and beautifully furnished apartment.
The first floor was known as the Main Room. The eccentric billionaire had designed it to be simple and completely open-concept. Not one wall interrupted Kaiba's view of the city below. A person could see from one side of the building to the other and tinted glass made up all four outer walls, floor to ceiling. It gave the illusion of being out on the roof without ever having to leave the building or deal with the elements. It was a spectacular sight, quiet and serene and one of the few luxuries Kaiba allowed himself.
The reverse side of the top five floors of KaibaCorp Tower were made from mirrored glass, keeping Kaiba's private world hidden from public eyes. He could see out but no one could see in. The blue-eyed CEO sighed and silently wondered if maybe he hadn't designed it to be a reflection of his soul.
Stopping just inside the room, Kaiba crossed his arms and marvelled at the brilliance of the layout. The entire suite was completely self-sufficient and contained all the elements required to make an apartment, an apartment. If he wanted to, he could live there.
The décor was very simple. On the floor was a rich, cream-coloured carpet and all the furniture was made from ebony wood and clear glass with accents of metal littered throughout the room.
The space was divided into five different sections with the northern end as his office. The eastern side of the building was a dining room. It consisted of a long table and chairs, upholstered in a rich cream-coloured material. The table was designed to seat eight people. Why? He had no idea, since no one else was allowed in here but him. Maybe it was the extravagance or maybe it just made the room feel homier. Whatever his reason, Kaiba didn't dwell on the thought.
The south end of the suite was a gourmet kitchen complete with all the trimmings. On his left was a small formation of comfortable black leather armchairs strategically placed around a square coffee table. Off to the side stood a bar. The area where the bottles and glasses were displayed was illuminated in vibrant blue neon.
But the most breathtaking feature of all was the sunken living room located directly in the centre of the suite. Bordered every so many feet by glass 'n metal columns that ran from floor to ceiling; the columns added their blue neon glow to the rest of the room. Lush, comfortable, built-in couches spanned three sides of the perimeter with steps leading down into the recessed space. The furniture was upholstered in the same expensive material that adorned the dining room chairs and located in the very heart of the living room was another square coffee table. Finally, in the southwest corner of the suite, was a metal spiral staircase.
Removing his suit jacket, Kaiba descended the steps and arrived on the second floor of the apartment.
Once again, the main area was dedicated to one purpose; the bedroom. The same cream-coloured carpet adorned the floor and the same black 'n glass furniture littered the room.
But the most breathtaking feature was the bed. In contrast to the sunken living room above, the black and white, silk covered monstrosity was located on a raised dais in the centre of the room. Again, glass 'n metal columns stood at the corners of the dais, running from floor to ceiling. The blue neon light that illuminated the pillars cast its haunted glow across the room.
Still unwilling to give up his priceless view, he'd used blue-tinted, glass walls to give the illusion of separate rooms. One for the walk-in closet and one for the bathroom.
“Lights.” Kaiba called as he entered his dressing room and tossed his suit jacket on a metal bench. At his command, the entire floor was bathed in a soft, incandescent glow.
He reached for the buttons of his shirt and removed it along with his tie, only to toss both articles of clothing after his suit jacket, then he sat down in a black leather chair and began to untie the laces of his white leather Oxfords in preparation for his night out on the town.
The hottest new dance club in Domino was Tech Noir. In just under a month, the high class establishment had already claimed the status of becoming the number one bar in the city.
The hippest members of the 'In' crowd from nineteen to twenty-five could be found dancing to sounds that ranged from Rave, to Techno, to Dance and Industrial. Just the kind of music Mr. Kaiba wanted to hear.
Roland smiled to himself as he casually glanced at the reflection of his boss in the rear view mirror. 'Didn't hurt that this place had a few perks, as well.' He thought as he turned his attention back to the streets. The throng of people standing outside the club was unbelievable and Roland had to slow the limo to a crawl to avoid from hitting anyone.
The CEO's Personal Assistant finally pulled the car to a stop and a moment later he was standing outside Mr. Kaiba's window. He reached down to open the door, then stood quietly as he waited for his boss to exit the vehicle.
The brunette's long legs unfolded themselves from the back seat and made their appearance outside the black-coloured limousine. The rest of him followed with fluid grace as he stood and casually adjusted his ankle-length trench coat.
The second he emerged, all eyes on the street turned to stare. It was evident that everyone watching knew who he was. Kaiba never even noticed, so used to the public attention, and made his way inside.
The moment he stepped into the club, the sound of the music enveloped him and Kaiba could fell the tension slipping out of his shoulders and back. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then slowly released it. This was definitely what he needed. He stood for a moment getting the feel of the beat and then, as if by magic, the swell of the bass settled in his soul and carried him towards the dance floor. The club was wall-to-wall people but that didn't matter to Kaiba. As he walked, the crowd parted allowing him to pass, closing back around him and encasing him in a cocoon of warm, sweaty bodies all twisting and gyrating to the same sound.
The dance floor was full of magnificent samples from both sexes and Kaiba permitted them to take hold and move him to the beat of the music. Not usually one to allow human contact, tonight the ascetic businessman wanted the opposite. Tonight, he just wanted to forget who he was and lose himself in this world of faceless humanity. To settle into their touch and have them caress away his worries.
On the other side of the dance club, Joey stood by his place at the bar. The clothes he was wearing hugged him like a second skin, showing off every inch of muscle decorating his picturesque form. His black jeans pulled across strong thighs and outlined the manly curves of his tight, well-formed ass. The black t-shirt he was wearing was tucked into his jeans and a black leather belt, separated the ensemble, showing off his trim waistline. The cotton material moulded to his chest, enhancing his pectorals, and displaying his washboard stomach for all to admire while the cuffs of his shirt strained against bulging biceps. Black leather boots finished off the outfit along with the word 'security' printed in bright red lettering across his chest.
After that fateful night at the Dark Realm, Joey had been forced to look for another job. He scowled to himself as he casually scanned the crowd. When he was confident that everyone was having fun and no one was causing trouble he lost himself in his thoughts.
He remembered the events that had followed Kaiba's departure with renewed bitterness. Once he'd been sure he was alone in the room, Joey had removed his blindfold only to discover the huge wad of bills that had been tossed on the floor in front of him. It wasn't until he'd returned home that Joey had allowed himself to count it. To his amazement Kaiba had rewarded him with a bonus of twenty-five thousand dollars.
But that's not why he was angry. After he'd showered and dressed Joey had gone straight to Descharme's office to collect his payment. Once inside, his boss had refused to give him twenty thousand dollars. Stating the client would not be returning and blaming Joey for the lose of his most valuable asset. Then Descharme had announced, with smug satisfaction, that Wheeler was fired and due to his incompetence he would only be receiving the ten thousand dollars the club owner had first offered.
Joey didn't care about losing his job, it had been the lose of the money that had pissed him off. He hadn't allowed himself to suffer the humiliation of surrender, at the hands of his most hated rival, not to get paid for it. But Descharme had refused to cough up the rest of the dough and Joey had been forced to accept the original settlement. Finally, he'd stormed out of the office loudly cursing the rich for their selfish, greedy nature.
The next day he started looking for work. The money from the night before would undoubtedly help to relieve the financial burden of his mother's medical bills but he still needed to put Serenity through boarding school and keep a roof over his father's head.
He'd only been looking for a few days when he'd seen an advertisement for a new dance club opening up just around the corner from where he lived. Joey had taken down the ad and headed straight to the building as fast as he could. Mr. Green, the new club owner, had taken one look at Wheeler and hired him on the spot, saying he would be perfect to head up the security team that would police the establishment and keep everything under control. Joey had started working three days later. There were a dozen security guards in total, along with six bartenders, twelve waitresses and two managers and the blond had made fast friends with them all. The club was only opened Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from nine till three and Joey had only to adjust his other jobs by one day to accommodate it.
With an ironic chuckle, Wheeler crossed his arms and leaned against the bar. Maybe things had worked out in his favour, after all. If Kaiba hadn't shown up and turned his entire world up-side-down, than he would never have left the Dark Realm and he would never have gotten work here. And this was definitely a job Joey could be proud of. He hadn't even hesitated to tell the guys about it. Yugi had been thrilled and Tristan was already bribing him for VIP passes.
The blond sighed with contentment as his eyes scanned the room. He was beginning to enjoy the feeling of being the Head Security Guard. It gave him an elevated status within the club and people showed him a great deal of respect. And it didn't hurt that women were practically tripping over themselves whenever they locked eyes with the gorgeous blond. All in all, he was definitely better off than he had been a month ago.
Shaking his head, Joey smiled at the twist of fate as he shifted his position to a more comfortable one, silently thanking Kaiba for his interference. Finally, Rich Boy had made himself useful.
“Coffee, Sugar?”
The blond jumped at the sound of the melodic voice purring out it's question and Joey turned to look at one of the club's bartenders. She was a beautiful, busty brunette with hazel eyes and a gentle, heart-shaped face. They had met opening night and Wheeler had liked her from the start. The two young adults had immediately hit it off and had become fast friend's in the short time since. He watched as her full, rich-red lips pouted, waited for his response.
Joey visibly relaxed and answered with a slight nod. “Sure Lexus.”
“Leaded or unleaded?” She asked and the blond casually scanned the room for his manager before turning back to face his friend and co-worker.
“Leade’.” He replied with a wicked smile. Lexus gave him a secretive wink then headed down the bar to get Joey his drink.
Turning his attention back to the crowd he watched as two fashionably dressed young women walked by, openly ogling him with very suggestive looks. Casually, Joey smiled and tipped his head to acknowledge their presence. Their hands flew to their mouths and, putting their heads together, they giggled in reply.
His gaze followed them to the dance floor and he watched as they made their way to the centre of the room. As soon as they arrived their bodies began to move to the music and that's when Joey's heart leaped into his throat and stayed there.
Directly in the centre of the sea of flesh, dancing and swaying as seductively as the rest of the masses, was Seto Kaiba!
The blond sucked in a sharp breath and observed in stunned disbelief as the stoic CEO moved with a fluid grace Joey never imagined possible. He didn't know Kaiba could dance like that, let alone be good at it.
And to make matters worse, the brunette was dressed to kill. He sported a long, black leather trench coat and a pair of oval-shaped sunglasses with blue-tinted lenses. The eyewear casually rested on the bridge of his nose, enhancing those breathtaking blue eyes. The black leather pants he was wearing fit him like a second skin and the material rode his hips, showing off a great deal of his upper torso.
The blond's honey-brown eyes widened in shock as he realized Kaiba wasn't wearing a shirt. Even from this distance, Joey could see the thin line of dark hair that dusted his navel and disappeared below the waistline of his pants. His abs were flat and well formed, although not as rigged and defined as Joey's, and his chest was beautifully sculpted.
Wheeler's mouth went dry as he watched Kaiba lean his head back against some stranger's shoulder, revealing a deliciously long neck, encircled by the chain of the brunette's ever present necklace that ended with the Duel Monster's locket Joey knew held a picture of Mokuba inside.
Kaiba's long, eloquent fingers rested on some red-head's creamy-white shoulders. Her painted fingernails danced across his chest, pushing back the edges of the jacket to reveal dark-pink nipples.
Just then, Lexus arrived with Joey's promised beverage and without even looking in her direction Wheeler grabbed the hot drink and downed its contents in several large, desperate swallows. Paying no attention to the burning liquid scolding a path down his throat to end up in his suddenly unsettled stomach.
Over on the dance floor Kaiba closed his eyes and lost himself in the feel of the stranger behind him. Their bodies moulding together as they moved to the beat of the music. Strong, sensuous hands moved to encircle the brunette's throat and waist holding him firmly against the lithe form. The nameless being at his back was as tall as he was, sporting shoulder-length midnight-black hair and vibrant-green eyes. He was dressed in a white cambric shirt, opened to the middle of his chest and black leather pants as tight as the pair Kaiba wore. The beautiful stranger's lips hovered close to the brunette's ear and Kaiba could feel the warmth of his breath brush against his pale skin.
The red-head in front of him was wearing a form-fitting black slip-dress adorned with spaghetti-straps that rested loosely over her shoulders. Her cat-like body twisted and moved to the music as she continued her exploration of his chest. Her long fingernails gently scraping his bared nipples to the beat of the bass. Kaiba's right hand dropped to cup the tiny swell of her bottom, pulling her against his right thigh and holding her there as the three bodies ground their hips in time to the beat. Kaiba barely registered the feel of the strangers' obvious erection moving against his backside or the breathless gasp of the woman as she leaned in and ran a delicate tongue over the contours of the brunette's throat.
Although, Kaiba found the synthesized sounds of the music to be electrifying and the feel of the hot flesh rubbing against him to be exhilarating he did not, however, find it arousing. The red-head may have been beautiful but women were not Kaiba's forte and the dark haired Apollo at his back may have been gorgeous but he was not the blond that haunted Kaiba's dreams.
In an incredible display of perfectly timed pyrotechnics the lights of the club exploded with one final flash and then all went silent as the song came to an end. Everyone was plunged into a moment of darkness and Kaiba took the time to extricate himself from the two bodies wrapped around him. Once free of the seductive forms the brunette left the dance floor with one goal in mind; he needed a drink. As he made his way to the bar another song invaded the silence and the mass of people littering the club began to move to the newly introduced beat.
“What'll it be, honey?” Lexus asked over the music.
“Two triple Glenlivet's on the rocks.” Kaiba replied keeping his back to the crowd.
He watched in stunned fascination as the bartender grabbed two tumblers off the counter and with a flourish of dramatic skill, twirled them around on the palms of her hands before plunging them into a reservoir and filling them with ice. Then she placed them on the polished mahogany and reached for a green bottle sitting on one the of the shelves behind her. Turning, Lexus free-filled the first glass, silently counting out three ounces and then, with a continuous pour, moved to the second glass and did the same.
“Cash or tab, Sugar?” The busty brunette asked when she was finished.
“Tab.” Kaiba replied and with a short nod Lexus pushed the glasses towards her handsome patron before moving on to the next customer.
The stoic CEO reached for the first tumbler and downed the twelve-year-old scotch in three long swallows. When he was finished, he set the empty glass on the bar and reached for the second one. Nursing the amber liquid he turned around to survey the nightlife and sighed with dismay when he noticed the dark-haired beauty making his way towards the bar. Kaiba hoped with all his might that the guy was just there to get a drink like everyone else. Unfortunately, instead of putting in an order, the new arrival took a place on his right and casually leaned against the brass railing.
“Hello handsome. The names' Sebastian. What's yours?” The stranger introduced himself as he held out a hand in greeting.
Kaiba answered with silence as he took a sip of the amber liquid and ignored the offered handshake.
Mistaking his quiet demeanour for shyness, the young adult retracted his hand and tried again. “You dance beautifully.” He stated. “I was wondering if you wanted to try another song.”
Kaiba's eyes narrowed in annoyance as his uninvited guest began to get on his nerves. He remained silent, hoping the guy would get the hint and move on. Too bad he was too fucking stupid.
The ascetic businessman almost flinched when Sebastian reached out to trail a long finger along the curve of his jaw. Seizing the moment, he moved in a little closer and whispered in Seto's ear. “Or maybe you're looking for something else.“ He purred.
Before his unwanted visitor had the chance to blink, Kaiba's left hand shot out and captured the guys wrist in an unbreakable hold. Using his thumb to press heavily on the man's pressure point, Kaiba twisted his arm backwards and held it in place at a very painful angle. The brunette was rewarded with a strangled cry as the dark-haired stranger fell to his knees.
“I'm not interested.” He growled in a menacing tone.
“Maybe ya'd be interes’ed in lettin' 'im ga 'fore I toss ya ou’ on ya're ass.”
Seto froze at the sound of that all too familiar voice and immediately released his grip. He never even noticed when the young man gave him a dirty look and disappeared into the crowd, cradling his injured arm against the side of his body.
Carefully, Kaiba took a deep breath and let it out slowly, conjuring up his best emotionless expression as he braced himself to turn and face the blond. Cold, blue eyes met warm, honey-brown and time seemed to stand still.
In the uncomfortable silence that followed, Seto casually raked his gaze over Joey's form. It traveled from head to toe taking in every detail. That's when he noticed the lettering printed across the front of Joey's t-shirt.
“You work here?” Kaiba asked.
“'Ead o' Security.” The blond announced with pride never letting down his guard.
“How many clubs do you work at, anyway?” The brunette asked without thought, then he sucked in a deep breath as he realized what he'd just revealed.
Wheeler's eyes narrowed to tiny slits as he glared at the arrogant CEO. If he had harboured any hope that Kaiba had no idea it was him that night at the Dark Realm, the brunette had effectively crushed it with that thoughtless remark.
Another uncomfortable silence followed as the two rivals stared each other down. Their eyes challenging each other to comment, neither one able to do so. The tension that radiated from their bodies was almost tangible and everyone standing in the immediate vicinity could feel the electricity that surged back and forth between the two men.
Finally, Joey's features relaxed but instead of answering his question he drawled. “Ya gonna be'ave o' da I 'ave ta t’row ya out?”
“You could try.” Kaiba sneered as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.
Joey scoffed and shook his head. “I don' t’ink ya understan’ de situa'ion ya fin’ ya'reself in. Ya're in my worl’ naw, Rich Boy, an' wha' I say goes. If I wan'cha outta 'ere, ya're outta 'ere.”
From the corner of his eye Seto noticed several security guards advancing towards them. Joey casually waved them off with a simple gesture of his hand. They stopped and crossed their arms, quietly waiting to assist their boss should the need arise.
For a brief moment Kaiba was impressed. He didn't realize Wheeler commanded such respect among his peers, then he sighed and decided it was time to end this nonsense.
“Listen,” The brunette began slowly as he finished his drink and carefully placed the empty glass back on the bar. “I'm just here to dance. I'm not looking for any trouble.”
“Funny 'ow ya always seem ta fin’ it, t’ought.” The blond bit out.
“No Mutt, that would be you're curse, not mine.” Kaiba shot back as he turned and headed towards the dance floor, almost daring Wheeler to stop him.
At the mention of his hated nickname Joey levelled a dirty look at the retreating back and growled with barely controlled fury. “Keep walkin' Kaiba.”
As he made his way threw the crowd, the brunette allowed himself the luxury of an ear-to-ear grin, pleasantly surprised that his nonchalant insults could still get a rise out of his blond rival.
“Wow, that was intense.” Jack added when he arrived at the blonds' side. “You okay boss?” He questioned.
“Yea', 'm fine.” Joey answered casually shrugging off his concern. “It’s not’in'. Jus' Kaiba bein' Kaiba, dat's all.” He finished with a sigh. Smoothly, he hooked his thumbs into the pockets of his jeans and watched with renewed fascination as said CEO resumed dancing.
“You know that guy?” The security guard asked in wide-eyed astonishment as his gaze followed Joey's.
“Yea’.” Wheeler replied reluctantly. He continued to stare as he watched several women encircle the ascetic businessman. Kaiba allowed the four breathtaking beauties to take up positions around him. He reached out and drew two of them into his personal space, pulling their slender forms against his tall, lean body. For a brief moment, Joey was jealous. He had a sudden desire to be the one pressed up against that handsome flesh and he had to suppress the urge to cross the floor and join them.
“Forgive me for asking, boss, but where did you ever meet a dreamy piece like him?”
Joey's head shot around at the unexpected question and he looked at his co-worker with utter surprise. “Dreamy?” He repeated.
“Yeah. I mean, look at him. He's gorgeous. He's gotta be the best looking hunk in this place.”
“'Unk?” The blond asked, crossing his arms. “Some'in' ya wanna tell me, Jack?”
“Uh, no…I mean, he's good-looking that's all.“ The six foot brunette stammered, nervously shifting his feet and scratching the back of his neck with his right hand.
“Yea', 'e is.” Joey admitted with a deep sigh and looked back towards the dance floor.
“So, where'd you meet him?” Jack ventured again.
“I've knawn 'im since 'igh school.”
The security guard watched in wide-eyed fascination as his boss was utterly entranced by the brunette. He crossed his arms and nudged the blond with his elbow, slowly leaning down and whispering in his ear. “If you want to take a quick break, I'll cover for you.”
Suddenly, the urge to be pressed against that tall form returned and Joey scanned the club for his manager.
“Relax, I'll take care of it.”
Seizing the moment, Wheeler pulled the hem of his shirt out of his jeans and tore it off his body. He passed the article of clothing to his co-worker and threw over his shoulder. “I'll be righ' back.” He announced with a mischievous smile as he made a bee-line for the dance floor. He was going to enjoy putting that smug ass in his place for the Mutt comment.
Once again, Kaiba found himself getting lost in the feel of the music. Its vibe surrounded him and infused him with renewed purpose and he closed his eyes while he lost himself in its melodic sounds. As the rhythm washed over his soul he found himself thinking about his encounter with Joey at the bar.
The second he had heard that deep, rich voice Kaiba had been thrilled. Fear and excitement had coursed through his body and he'd discovered, to his amazement, that he'd actually had butterflies in his stomach.
He mentally frowned as he berated himself for his reckless comment regarding their encounter at the Dark Realm. What had possessed him to make reference to that fateful night? Why had he revealed to Joey that he'd known it was him? Had he somehow wanted the blond to know? And if so, why?
He was pulled out of his thoughts as that deep, rich voice reached his ears again.
“Min' if I cu' in?”
Kaiba's eyes shot open and he stopped moving. They went as round as saucers when he realized Wheeler was no longer wearing a shirt.
“What are you doing here, Mutt?” The CEO managed to growl.
Joey’s eyes narrowed, once again, at the mention of that hated nickname and, deciding that revenge was going to be sweet, he glided up to his handsome nemesis and casually draped an arm over his shoulder. The women shifted their positions giving Joey access to the ascetic businessman and he slowly leaned in to whisper against Kaiba's ear.
“'M jus' 'ere ta dance.” He drawled.
The brunette released a throaty moan and shuddered, closing his eyes as Wheeler's warm breath washed over his skin. He felt the blond place his free hand on his hip and start to move him to the music. Kaiba allowed the rhythm to take control and silently wondered if it wasn't Joey he was giving the control to. The blond took a step closer and desire coursed through ever fibre of Kaiba's being as he felt Joey's chest align with his. The hand, draped over his shoulder, moved to encircle his waist and Joey leaned to the side, placing the brunette's right leg between both of his. He rode Kaiba's thigh and ground his body alongside the brunette's. A satisfied smile touched his lips when he heard Seto suck in a sharp breath.
Kaiba's hands moved, instinctively, to cradle Joey's ass pulling him higher up his leg and the blond had to suppress a shudder when a wave of desire washed over his own body. His hand trailed over the brunette's abdomen to settle at his chest and Kaiba drew in another sharp breath as Joey's thumb absently brushed across his nipple.
The stoic CEO's right hand seared a burning path over Wheeler's back as Kaiba moved to encircle his throat. He leaned forward and pulled Joey closer as his lips settled at the base of the blond's neck. The brunette drew in a deep breath and a fresh, ocean-clean scent invaded his senses, while images of that night in the other club danced through his mind. The taste of Joey's lips, the smell of his flesh, the feel of him buried deep inside the blond and Kaiba was unable to hide the swelling erection that threatened to burst out of his already tight leather pants.
Joey knew the moment Seto had become aroused. He could feel the brunette's stiff member brushing against the inside of his thigh. Stepping closer, he closed his eyes and settled against Kaiba's warm body. A traitorous groan escaped his lips as hot breath washed over even hotter bodies and Kaiba's hand roved over Wheeler's skin, mapping out every inch. Joey's own erection bulged against the fabric of his jeans as cheek settled against cheek and two sets of sculpted lips settled at the hinge of each other's jaw.
The contact was electrifying, the music was captivating and Kaiba felt like he was drowning in a sea of bliss.
And in that instant, Kaiba knew if he didn't get them off the dance floor, he was going to take the blond right then and there.
Before Joey knew what was happening, Kaiba had grabbed him by his upper arm and was dragging him to the back of the club. When they reached the hallway, the brunette quickly looked from side-to-side and, spotting a dark corner, maneuvered the blond in that direction. When he reached his chosen destination he swung Wheeler around and threw him up against the wall.
A heartbeat later Kaiba's lips crashed down on his and Joey was catapulted into a world of excruciating pleasure. One hand braced itself on the wall, at the side of Wheeler's head, while the other settled at the base of the blond's throat, tilting his head up to give Seto maximum access. Joey surrendered to Kaiba's kiss without thought. His lips parted giving the brunette full admittance and he felt Kaiba's tongue glide expertly inside. He groaned as he melted against that lean form, memories of their last kiss dancing wildly through his mind.
The blond suddenly wanted more and his hands shot out and grabbed the brunette by the hips. He pulled Kaiba against him, settling his right thigh between the CEO's legs, and ground his swelling erection against the other's.
Kaiba gasped and released a deep growl as he fought for control. Panting from their endeavours, the brunette rested his head on his forearm and drew in several long, deep breaths. He had to end this now. If he didn't, he was going to strip the blond of his jeans and take him against the wall.
Joey, on the other hand, didn't want to stop and that scared him. He found himself, once again, wrestling with his sexuality. When had he started thinking of men in a physical way? He'd always been a ladies man, always chased the skirts. But here he was, in the back of a dance club, silently begging some guy to finish what they'd started.
And then he understood, it wasn't just any guy that had him panting like a dog, it was Seto Kaiba! The revelation hit him like a ton of bricks. When had he stopped thinking of Kaiba as the enemy and started thinking of him as a friend and lover?
Before he had time to answer that question said CEO pushed himself off the wall and glared at him. An eternity passed between the two rivals as both sets of eyes battled for control. That's when Joey realized the icy stare he'd become so accustomed to had melted, only to be replaced with a flame that burned so hot it had become the deepest shade of sapphire-blue.
Before Joey had the chance to open his mouth and comment, Kaiba's voice broke the silence.
“If you know what's good for you, you'll stay far away from me, Mutt.” Then he turned his back and walked out of the night club, leaving the blond to wonder what the Fate's had in store for him next.
