Affair 20 : The Return of Rivals (Yami x Seto)

Summary
: It�s just like old times�.

Yugi sat between Ryou and Bakura, who were beside Jounouchi, and that group was
behind Amelda, Raphael and Varon, who were in the same seats they were in
before as they waited for the start of the final duel.

/ Yami? /

// Yes aibou? //

/ Are you ready for this? /

Yami laughter floated through their link. // Aibou, you make it sound as if
I've never done this before //

/ Well, I... /

// I can tell the crowd's excited. We can hear them below us//

/ Below you? Where.../ but before Yugi could get his question out, the stadium
lights dimmed as two spotlights shone down to the center of the stage where
Roland was standing.

Yugi felt a squeeze to his hand as he looked to see Bakura smiling at him as
Ryou squeezed his shoulder. "Glad to have you back" they both said at
the same time, which made them laugh. Yugi then leaned up and kissed them both
lightly on the lips.

"Thank you for saving me" he said.

"Yugi, I..." Bakura started to say when the skylight of the stadium
opened up as the crowd all looked up and erupted into another blast of cheers
and applauding seeing a Kaiba Corp helicopter hovering overhead as Yami and
Kaiba both stood on opposite sides of the chopper.

"You'd swear they were seeing Michael Jackson or something" Bakura
muttered as the group cracked up laughing as the two duelists then jumped off
the sides of the chopper landing safely below as the cheers seemed to increase
in volume.

"Oh Ra! I'm going to need a headache pill before this is over..."

The two duelists then were introduced by Roland as everyone cheered for their
favorite and then Roland left the two as they got out their duel decks and
handed them over and began shuffling. As they handed their decks back to one
another, Kaiba leaned over and whispered something to Yami that made him laugh
a bit as they then went back to their sides of the dueling field.

"DUEL START!!!" they said as the crowd again erupted into cheers and
applauding.

~ Are we going to have to put up with this the entire time they're
dueling? ~ Bakura asked Ryou

| Oh shush Yami. They're excited to have them back in action, that's all. |
Ryou smiled.

Bakura then turned his attention to Yugi. 'I need to tell him...' ~
Yugi? ~

/ Yes, Bakura? / Yugi said not taking his attention off of his yami's playing.

~ I...I love you ~

Yugi took his attention off of Yami and looked at Bakura. / What did you say? /

~ I said...I love you, and...I'm sorry... ~

Yugi's eyes filled with tears as he hugged the white-haired yami. / Thank
you...and I'm sorry too... /

// Well isn't that a nice sight? //

/ Yami! You should be paying attention to the duel! /

// I am aibou, but I can't help your emotions that come through our link, now
can I? //

/ Oops... /

Yami chuckled // It's ok aibou, and thank you for understanding //

/ I do now Yami...I really do... /

"Marik, beloved, I want you to meet my best man that's going to be in our
wedding" Pegasus called to him as Marik finished up his phone call and
came over to his fiancee's side. Beside his beloved, he saw a pink haired
gentleman dressed in a mauve pink suit with a white rose in hand.

"Marik, meet Seig von Schroider*, my newest business associate" he
said as the gentleman held out his hand to Marik, but instead of shaking it, he
kissed his hand, his eyes never leaving Marik's.

"Nice to meet you" he said.

"Um...nice to meet you too" Marik said. For some reason, the man made
him feel a bit uneasy. He hated uneasiness. He then turned to Pegasus.
"I'm going to go watch the final duel" he said as he gave his love a
kiss and walked out of the room.

"Dueling? I thought that was pretty much a thing of the past" Seig
said to Pegasus.

"Well, primarily it is, but we have 2 celebrities on hand...Kaiba Seto and
the duel king himself, Atemu Yami" Pegasus laughed, unnoticing Seig's eyes
widen at the names mentioned.

"Shall we go watch as well then?" Seig asked.

"I have a private room we can watch from so as to not have to bother with
all of those people" Pegasus said as he lead the way.

LP Standings :

Kaiba - 2500

Yami - 3000

The duel had been close the entire time with Yami and Kaiba fighting just as
fiercely as they did when they first met, insults and compliments exchanged,
monsters clashing and curses spilt from their mouths when their monsters were
defeated or detained in some manner. Currently, Yami had his Obnoxious Celtic
Guardian on the field in defense mode and 2 cards face down and Kaiba had his
Vorce Raider and Blade Knight on the field in attack mode and 1 card face down.
It was Kaiba's move, and Yami had a guess as to what that move was, but had a
move of his own planned...

Kaiba's eyes glinted with that look of victory in them as he drew from his duel
disk. "You've won time and time again, duel king, but this time, it will
be me that will win..."

"Not with Blue Eyes you won't!" Yami called back.

"Who says I'm planning on using them?" Kaiba shrugged as Yami growled
a bit. 'If he doesn't do what I'm thinking, my strategy is ruined...' he
thought. Yami knew Kaiba to be crafty and sharp in battle, but he knew his
archilles heel was his Blue Eyes. However, for Kaiba to say that he wasn't
going to use them threw him for a loop.

"However, that doesn't mean I won't let them come out and play
though..." he grinned as he pulled a card from his deck. "Now I
sacrifice Vorse Raider and Blade Knight to summon my Blue Eyes!" he yelled
as his two monsters vanished from the field and were replaced with the blue
white dragon as it roared to life as the crowd cheered. "Now, normally
your Guardian would be impenetrable to my Dragon's attacks since it's above
1900, but my dragon's got a few new tricks up its sleeve..."

Yami growled taking a step back.

"I activate the magic card, Burst Stream of Destruction!" he said as
'oohs' and 'aahs' floated around the crowd as Blue Eyes fired its attack down
upon the Guardian incinerating it. Yami grinned. "Nice move, Kaiba"

"However, there is a small price of using this magic card," he
continued. "Blue Eyes isn't allowed to attack in the turn that this card
is activated, so you're safe...for now"

"My move!" Yami said drawing a card from his duel disk. 'I need to
summon a monster to distract Kaiba long enough for my other plan to fall into
motion...' he thought as he glanced over his hand. He grinned seeing a
couple of opportunites on hand. "One card face down, and since I only this
one card in my hand, I can summon it immediately..." Yami grinned throwing
the card down as Swift Gaia appeared on the field. "And before you say
anything, Kaiba, keep your eye on the field..." Yami grinned as he pushed
a button as another card flipped up and Blue Eyes vanished, leaving Kaiba open
to an attack.

"My Blue Eyes! Damn you Yami!" Kaiba growled.

"Now Gaia, ATTACK!" Yami commanded as the knight blasted Kaiba with
it's Spiral Saber attack as the other duelist fell to his knees as his LP
dropped to 200. Everyone gasped as the arena got deadly silent.

"What is that saying, Kaiba? Pride goeth before a fall?" Yami
grinned.

"Oh shut up..." Kaiba growled getting back to his feet.

"One more card face down and I end my turn" Yami said.

"However, what is that other saying...don't count your chickens?"
Kaiba chuckled as he drew from his deck. "I place 2 cards face down and I
summon Horus' Servant to the field in defense mode and I end my turn"

"Move over would you?"

"Marik..." Yugi looked to see the blond-haired yami beside them
suddenly as everyone then scooted down a bit to make room for him as he slid in
beside Yugi.

"So what's the -- whoa!" he gasped, then chuckled shaking his head.
"Leave it to the Pharaoh..."

"Yeah! It was great! He obliterated Kaiba's Blue Eyes with a magic card of
some sort and then he summoned his Swift Gaia and attacked him directly!"
Ryou said excitedly.

Marik laughed "And here I thought Yugi would be the one to tell me all the
details" he looked over at said hikari, who's eyes were glazed over, which
meant he was talking with Yami right then.

// So where's Pegasus and why aren't ya'll screwing each other's brains out? //
Bakura asked Marik

/ Oh shut up! Pegasus and I aren't like that all the time. You make us
sound like we're wild animals or something... / Marik grumbled.

// Well aren't you? // the snow-haired yami grinned.

/ Shut it! Anyhow, if you must know, he's entertaining his newest business
associate /

// Another partner? //

/ Yeah. Dude's freaky though. He's got pink hair! /

// So what? Yugi and Yami have tri-colored hair, but that doesn't equate them
to freaks //

/ Well, it's not his hair so much as his demeanor...something about him rubs me
the wrong way -- and don't even THINK it! /

// Too late... // Bakura cackled through their link as Marik sighed, then their
attention was caught as they looked to see an enormous bird-like creature on
the field.

"Horus..." they said.

"Who?" Jounouchi asked.

"In Egyptian times, Horus was the King of Egypt" Yugi explained.
"A falcon was the symbol used to represent him"

"Oh!" the blond said. "Who would've known they would have other
Egyptian God cards in Duel Monsters!"

"Um...it's not an Egyptian God Card, Jou," Yugi said.

"It's not! But it's a Egyptian God isn't it?" the blond wondered.

~ Maybe we'd better stop. I think I smell smoke coming from his head ~

/ Marik! / Yugi hissed.

// Well he's kinda right you know... // Bakura cackled.

/ You guys are so mean... /

A yell from the crowd brought the group's attention back as they looked to see
Yami down to 300 LP and a trap card activated on the field. He had no monsters
on the field and Kaiba's monster had "grown" so to say and was at
it's full Level 8 status.

"Holy shit! That things's as powerful as...no wonder Kaiba said what he
did earlier!" Jounouchi said in realization.

"Well I'll be damned...Kaiba actually has another powerful
monster..." Bakura chuckled.

/ Yami! Are you ok? /

// Yes, aibou, I'm fine. Kaiba definitely caught me off guard, that's for
sure... // he chuckled.

/ Well you're certainly calm for someone who's at a disadvantage / Yugi said as
Yami started his turn as he felt his Yami's confidence flood the link.

// Oh, not anymore aibou... // he said as he sent him the mental picture of
what was to come and it took everything in Yugi not to laugh out loud.

/ Brilliant... /

// Don't know if Kaiba'll appreciate the sentiment as much though... //

"Don't think you've beaten me yet Kaiba" Yami said as he set one card
on the field.

"Oh but I have and finally your title will be mine, Yami," he
grinned.

"Activate trap! Miracle Restoring!" Yami called out as he summoned
his Buster Blader back to the field. "Then I activate the magic card,
Monster Reborn to bring back -- Dark Magician!" Yami grinned as his
magician appeared on the field. "Then I use the magic card Polymerization
to fuse my two monsters together"

"Aw yeah!" Jounouchi cheered as Dark Paladin appeared on the field.

"And thanks to your contribution, Kaiba, my monster gains 1000 extra
attack points" Yami smirked as Paladin's attack strength increased.
"And with that, I'll end my turn"

Kaiba contemplated his next move very carefully. 'Damn it...well, at least I
can always count on him to make my soul burn this way. Welcome back old
friend...' "You wanna play hardball, Yu-Gi-Oh, I'll be more than happy
to oblige..." Kaiba grinned as he pushed a button on his duel disk as a
trap card revealed itself, but he gasped looking down and seeing his life point
meter at 0.

"WHAT THE HELL?!?!" he bellowed then looked to see a trap card
activated on Yami's side of the field as well -- Chain Burst, who's effect
activates when a trap card is put into play, and deals a 1,000 point damage to
the player that activates a trap card.. He sighed and shook his head laughing
as they deactivated their duel disks.

"Well, that certainly was impressive. I've heard about the legendary duel
king but never thought I'd see him in action" Seig said, tossing some of
his long hair over his shoulder.

"Yes, that's our Yami-boy for you. Always willing to please his fans. The
"friendly" rivalry between him and Kaiba run deep" Pegasus said
taking a drink of his wine spritzer.

"Are they lovers?" Seig wondered still watching the screen.

"Oh heavens no!" Pegasus laughed. "Kaiba-boy is taken by a
delightful young woman and Yami-boy is taken by another as well"

"I see..." Seig grinned. "Well, shall we go? We do have a
wedding to plan for"

"Yes!" Pegasus laughed as they headed down to the arena.

An hour later, after photograph and autograph sessions were over, the
maintenance crew began to work on transforming the duel arena for the wedding
of the year.

-- Ecstasy --

"To the duel king, who after all this time, hasn't lost a spark of his
abilities" Kaiba toasted Yami as the rest of the group held up their
glasses and toasted their friend as well, who was currently surrounded by the
other hikari's and yami's.

"And here's to you Kaiba for getting close but still no cigarette"
Yami grinned.

"Oh, you mean one of these?" Kaiba slid a thin cigarette out
of his duster pocket lighting it and taking a puff as the group laughed.

"That was some move though," Yami told Kaiba. "Those are some of
the newer cards aren't they?"

"Yep..." Kaiba exhaled. "They just started circulating this
year. There's another magic card that would've helped, but I've yet to obtain
it though"

Yugi looked around. "Ne, Kaiba, where's Taylor and her group?"

"They had to go to Hokkaido for a show but they'll be back by this weekend"
Kaiba said.

"But they're going to miss Pegasus's wedding" he frowned.

"Yeah..." he sighed. "Taylor was sad about that, but when duty
calls you must respond"

"Are you talking about a duty call or a booty call?" Marik grinned as
he and Bakura practically fell over each other laughing.

// Well if you're not careful, koi, you won't be getting any 'booty calls' for
a while... // Yami teased.

~ Can I have yours now then? ~

// Kura! We have a wedding to get ready for //

~ So? All the more reason to take advantage ~

"YAMI! WE'RE LEAVING!" Jounouchi yelled as said duel king found
himself alone in the VIP room.

"HEY!" Yami called as he ran out after them. // Kura, kisama...
//

~ Kiss my ass? Aww...aren't you being such an uke... ~

// Fuck you! //
