Bakura woke up to find the letter with a kiss at the end. Without wasting a moment, he followed the instructions very carefully and made sure to say the incantation just right. Apparently, he’d be ok for the most part, but the memories were what would might make him freak out. His memory would be back in five days and he was ready for it.
The moment he finished speaking, he dipped his hand into the mixture that had become almost like a thick oil. The texture was smooth and oily, but it felt heavier than that, almost like glue. It was all black and clung to his hand as though he wearing a glove. Bakura made no move to wipe it off though and just waited for it to fully cling to his hand and stop dripping. With one more whispered word, Bakura found himself feeling weak until he finally passed out on to his bed.
The room was loud with laughter as everyone started to talk about their plans for the upcoming holiday. Kaiba was trying not to give into letting everyone have a week off, but the way that his little family was acting, his employees/friends were just waiting for him to say that they had time off. When it finally happened, everyone erupted into cheers, especially Bakura.
This was it.
He was finally going to have his moment and so he stood up calling everyone’s attention to him. “Everyone, I want to say something now.” he spoke up and then he turned to Yuugi. He walked over and got down on one knee before pulling out a ring box. There were gasps around the room and Yuugi just looked at Bakura with a sweet smile on his lips.
“Yuugi, I wanted to do this again, in front of our friends and family. I’ve probably continuously told you all the reasons that I want to marry you, but the main reason is with you, I don’t have to hide who I am. With you, I can be myself and I don’t have to worry about what anyone thinks of me. I know we’ve had our fights, but you mean the world to me Yuugi and I would be so happy if you would marry me.” he said as he took the ring out the box.
To most it looked like a gorgeous ruby, but Yuugi knew what was actually in that stone and why it shimmered the way it did. His eyes locked on to Bakura’s and they shared a knowing look. Darkness flashed through Yuugi’s eyes as he moved forward and kissed Bakura. “You really didn’t have to make this all formal and everything.” he said laughing lightly against Bakura’s lips.
“Will you just answer the question?” he asked sounding annoyed, but in truth he was just really happy. He knew that he didn’t have to make it formal, but for some reason he wanted people to see his happiness with Yuugi when he knew even some of their friends like Anzu and Atem had doubted their relationship would continue this long.
Yuugi smiled and kissed Bakura again. “Yes, I love you so much Bakura. I will be by your side always and protect you to the best of my ability.” he told him and his eyes positively lit up when Bakura slid that ring on his finger. It was beautiful and the fact that there was blood in it, only made him happier. It made him feel as though he could easily keep his promise to him and they would be happy. Nothing would be able to separate them now.
When Bakura woke up, he was smiling. The first memory hadn’t been as bad as he secretly worried about, and he got to see his more public proposal to Yuugi. More memories began to flood his mind as he remembered how their friends congratulated them, how many drinks they all had for cheers, and making love to Yuugi when they got home. Bakura reveled in the memories he got, but then the pharaoh’s face stuck out in his memory.
Atem hadn’t been happy with the news and had only smiled when other people were looking in his direction. If the chunk of his memory that he had just gotten back was serving him right, they had all been good friends at this point or so it seemed. So, why didn’t the pharaoh keep up his appearances then? It just seemed so out of place, but with the knowledge he’d get his memories soon, he got ready for his day noticing the ritual concoction had disappeared from his hand.
