Author's Note: And here's part 2. Kind of the "oh yeah, other things were happening in this story other than sex" chapter, really. Or the "hey, remember these people?" chapter. The title is from the song Mai is listening to - "Dance of the Seven Veils" by Liz Phair. I just get the feeling that the whole "Exile in Guyville" album would be like, Mai's favorite album ever. Anyway, some big things are going down, but the night is still young, so....
"Y'know, it's funny."
Yami turned at the sound of Yugi's voice. "What is?"
Yugi was staring at the ceiling in bed, his puzzle resting beside him. "Joey. He said he had to work tonight.... but he never said when he'd be finished." He rolled to his side. "Before, when he had part-time jobs, he always said when he was done. Remember that time we snuck out to Burger World to see him after his shift?"
"Vaguely," the Pharaoh nodded. "So you think he's keeping something from us."
"Don't you?" Yugi looked up at his other self sadly. "The way he was acting today... after he was so scared just yesterday..."
"There's definitely SOMETHING going on with him," Yami agreed. "That presence that I felt today was MUCH stronger than yesterday, or the day before."
The smaller boy sighed, pulling out the notes he had scribbled the night before.
("Thought maybe this... thing I picked up had some kinda spirit stuck to it, like with you or Bakura, but it looks more like I'm... MAKING him somehow.")
"Hey, Yami?"
"What is it?"
"Maybe nothing, but... you said he had you check some 'thing he picked up'?" He sat up to let Yami sit beside him to have a look. "Was it.... maybe..."
"...the collar?" The spirit let out a sigh. "I only saw part of it either time, but yes, I think that was it." He looked at his partner's worried face. "But I don't think it's possessed by anything. It's possible it could be... an anchor of some sort..."
"An anchor?"
"Joey thought he was making this Other Joey himself, right? It could be that the 'Other' side is stronger when he wears that thing, like some kind of symbol, or..."
Yugi listened quietly, staring, down at the notebook. Suddenly, his eyes widened.
("Uh... um... there was... a, uh.... I"m kind of.... having...umm... relations?... with..." He finally gave up, his shoulders slumping. "Yug, seriously. Please don't make me explain any more than 'I had sex' or I'm gonna have a coronary here," he begged. "This is hard enough to talk about without playing kiss and tell." )
Yami heard the memory in his mind as well, and the two of them shared a panicked look. "You don't think...."
Yugi bit his lip. "I don't know WHAT to think. Whatever's going on, Joey wouldn't hide something from me unless he had a good reason."
"And an affair with Kaiba..."
"...would probably be a good reason," he finished the thought, nodding sadly.
There was a long, sad silence, when Yami finally broke it. "He called Mai Valentine before he left here, didn't he?"
Big, violet eyes got even bigger. "He did!"
"And what's the one thing Joey could probably talk to her about that he couldn't with you?"
Yugi blushed. "...oh. ...So she might know something!!" He perked up for a moment, then slumped back down again. "But he took that paper with her phone number with him."
Yami gave his other half a reassuring smile. "Get a pencil."
"What?"
"Just do it." He waited while the smaller boy dug one out of his schoolbag. "He used that tablet, right?"
"Yeah, but..." Yugi broke into a grin when he turned the first page and understood what Yami was getting at. "Good call!" He began rubbing the pencil over the indentations of Joey's writing, slowly exposing the digits of Mai's number.

"Hey, Cynthia?" Mokuba took the PA aside as they waited for his classmates to FINALLY choose what they wanted from the KaibaLand souvenir shop.
"'Sup, Lil Kaiba?" she asked, bending down to his level.
Big, innocent eyes looked up at her. "...What do you think Big Brother and Joey are doing right now?"
Cynthia nearly tilted over. "Um, uh, well..."
"Are they having sex?"
Cynthia tilted over.
After thanking the guy selling Blue Eyes White Dragon balloons for helping her up, she dusted herself off and turned back to Mokuba. "Wha...where... why do you even KNOW that word yet, Mokie?" she stammered. If this was her fault somehow, she could kiss that Christmas bonus goodbye...
"We have like 50 TVs," the black-haired boy looked up at her with an expression of disbelief that would have done his brother proud. "And...umm... can I tell you a secret?" he blushed, glancing back over to make sure the girls were still busy.
Cynthia paused from arranging her hair back in place and nodded. "I'm scared to even guess, but..." She knelt down this time, to let the small boy whisper in her ear.
"Joey is big brother's new boyfriend!" Mokuba sounded so excited, you'd think he'd said he was getting a pony. Which was possible, if his brother were trying to buy his silence, the PA mused.
"Where'd you hear that?"
"I figured it out myself!" he grinned. "I went to visit Big Brother at his office the other day, and I found Joey's underwear on a chair!"
Cynthia cracked up. (So THAT'S where the Froot of the Loom story came from..) "Wow, Mokie...that's...that's something, alright." She tilted her head. "So how do you feel about that?"
"I think it's GREAT!" Mokuba beamed. "He's liked Joey for forever, I'm so happy he admitted it! Ooh! Hey, who do you think confessed? I tried to ask but Seto wouldn't answer."
Awk. ward. Cynthia went to open her mouth when suddenly, from her purse:
I call shots - like a boss!
Stack knots - like a boss!
Cop drops - like a boss!
On top - like a boss!
Paid tha cost - like tha boss!
"Speak of the devil," she winced. Hang on a sec, K Mokie?" She stepped back a little and answered the call. "Sir?"
"Cynthia? Got another assignment for you...."
"Oh, god..." The blonde crossed herself with her free hand as she braced herself.
-----
"Ow!!" Joey hissed, ignoring Kaiba's glare as he squirmed.
"Hold still, Mutt," he sighed, continuing to hold the small cup of liquid to Joey's left nipple. "It's just saline solution. You'd rather these get infected?"
The blonde looked at the other boy suspiciously. "How the hell do YOU know how to clean a nipple piercing, anyway?" he asked.
Seto rolled his eyes. "Google, you idiot," he answered as he removed the cup, dabbing the area around the piercing dry with a paper towel and setting them both aside. "Alright, now the other one," he said, adding solution to a fresh cup. "Try not to get my sheets any messier than they already are."
"Sorry," Joey winced. "So.--ouch.!-- what time is it, anyway?"
"About 8:30," Seto responded, still carefully watching his ministrations. "You blacked out for a bit, so I had to clean up and put you to bed."
"Holy shit," he breathed. "Hey, umm.... Seto?" He STILL felt weird using that name. "...Thanks." Joey flashed a weak smile.
All he got back was a noncommittal grunt. "Are you hungry?"
"God yeah."
"Good. After this, I'll have dinner sent up." he frowned, feeling Joey's stare on him, and looked up. "What are YOU smiling about, Mutt?" he glared.
Joey shook his head. "Nothin'. Just watchin' you like this... I understand why Mokuba adores you so much now."
"...Shut up, Mutt."
The words would have had more impact if Joey hadn't seen the slight tinge of red on Seto's cheeks.

"Johnny, my love, get out of the business, it makes me wanna rough you up so bad-ly...." Mai sang, as she dug through the laundry basket for the mate to the stocking she held in her other hand. Just then, her phone started to ring. "Shit," she muttered, flailing for the stereo remote to turn down the Liz Phair CD and then pulling out her cell. "Mai Valentine."
"Um, Mai? It's Yugi. Uh, Yugi Muto? Joey's friend?"
Mai. "Yugi?" This was unexpected. Unexpected was usually bad.
"Sorry to call you out of the blue like this. I, uh, got the number from when Joey called you the other day. Is it OK to talk now?"
Now Mai had a REALLY bad feeling. "Um, sure..." she said, setting aside her laundry. "What do you need?"
"It's about Joey." No surprise there. "Um... after he left my place last night, he went to see you, right?"
"Right..."
"Umm... did something happen?"
Mai's shoulders tensed. She REALLY wasn't good at being a go-between. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, today at school he was acting kind of strange... and he was wearing some kind of collar?"
She froze. "Oh, god..."
"Sorry?"
"Nothing," she quickly replied. "Look, I don't know exactly what's going on, but--"
"I think you might know a little more than me." Yugi' voice was gentle. "Look... you care about Joey a lot, right? I know you two are close. I care about him a lot too, and I thought maybe if we... I don't know, compared notes, we could find a way to help him?"
Mai gnawed on her lip. She wanted to help. She DID. And she knew Joey was Yugi's best friend.
But Joey was Mai's ONLY friend. "Look, Yugi.... I can't tell you things he told me in confidence. He trusted me." (Not a lot of people do that) she thought sadly. "He seems like he wants to take care of things his own way. I wanna respect that."
A small, disappointed sigh came through the line. "I can understand that. But if you change your mind, could you please give me a call?"
"...Sure," she nodded, hanging up. Blank-faced, she reached for the remote again.
"Johnny, my love, get out of the business, the odds are getting fatter by the minute..."
Click.
She sat there quietly, clutching the remote for a few moments before she returned to her laundry-sorting, silently.
---
"I guess there's one more number we could call," Yugi sighed, putting down the phone.
"You don't mean..."
"Joey's house," they both said in unison. Yugi nodded. "I'm a little nervous, though. I mean... Serenity is great, but she's the only one in Joey's family I know..."
"We could call her," Yami pointed out.
Yugi shook his head. "If she doesn't know anything and I get her all worried about Joey, he'd never forgive me. There's a chance Joey could be home by now, and at least maybe his father might know...something..." He took a moment to psyche himself up, then picked up the phone again.
----
"Fuckin' 3D TV. They didn't tell me it don't show EVERYTHING in 3D!" Mr. Wheeler grumbled, tossing his useless goggles in frustration as an old "Baywatch" rerun played in only two dimensions. "Waste of fuckin' money."
Just then, the old push-dial phone started to ring. "Shit," he muttered, knocking over a few empty beer bottles as he reached over. "Yeah?" he barked.
"Uhhh...ummm... i-is this the Wheeler residence?" a timid, young-sounding voice replied.
"Yeah it is, what the hell you want?"
"Um... is Joey there?"
"I haven't seen that little faggot for 2 nights now!" the older man growled. "I ain't got a clue where he is, but you find that damned fruit, tell him to get his ass back here with the rest of my money!" he slammed the phone down.
Back in his room, Yugi stared at the phone in shock. "...Joey..." He hadn't known. Why Joey had always tensed up if someone suggested going to his place. Why he only ever talked about his sister. "There's so much I didn't know," the small boy murmured sadly.
"We'll help him." Yami sat down beside him, eyes full of sympathy. "So, just to review what we DO know: we know Joey's been acting strange. He said there was Another Him in his soul room, representing his lust. His father seems to know he’s gay and claims he owes him money. Joey thought a collar was possessing him a few days ago, but then wore it to school today. He says he’s working for Kaiba, and that his father set it up. That's about it?"
Yugi nodded, looking over their notes. "And Mai won’t tell us a thing." he sighed. "If only we could talk to that Other Joey, but letting him out would be dangerous..."
Both of them froze. "The Millennium Key!!" It was so obvious. If they had it, they could go into Joey's Soul Room and confront who/whatever it was without letting it out. They could even get rid of it altogether with the power of the Key.
"...but we don't have it," Yugi sighed. "Shadi has it, and who knows where he is now?"
Yami frowned, thoughtful. "Good question..."
