Chapter Twenty-six
Seto sets
him empty teacup on the coffee table and looks at the blond beside him.
Katsuya
notices Seto’s stare and gulps down the last of his tea. “Time to go back to
work?”
“Whoever
earns your love will have it made,” says Seto.
“Huh?” asks
Katsuya setting down his cup.
“Whoever
earns your love will have everything.”
“Why do you
say that?”
“You can
cook… You’re attractive enough, and you do have at least an average brain in
your head,” says Seto, “You’ll make a nice boyfriend… or maybe even a husband
to someone. That person will be very lucky to have you.”
Katsuya
hugs Seto quickly. “Thank you!”
“Hey, don’t
get all mushy on me! Get back to work!” exclaims Seto pushing Katsuya away.
Katsuya
smiles and heads over to the computer again while Seto lifts the laptop back
onto his legs and resumes his own work. “By the way, I think you’re the lucky
one.”
Seto blinks
and looks at Katsuya. “Why?”
Katsuya
sits down at the desk and looks at the spreadsheets for a moment before
answering, “You have a lot of reasons for someone to want you… You’re handsome
as all get out. You have a nice personality when you let people see it. Maybe
you should work on that. You have a brilliant mind. I would die if I had to do
this type of work everyday like you do. I mean I could, but I wouldn’t do
nearly as good a job as you would. Plus you already have a nice house and a
nice family. And you have money. Whoever loves you is going to be really lucky.
You’re the lucky one.”
“I never
thought about it like that,” says Seto, “Is that why so many of the girls in
our school swoon when I walk by? Are they thinking of me like that?”
“They think
of you as a good fuck because you’re hot, a good boyfriend because you could
take them to all the fancy-smansy places, and good husband material because
you’re rich!” exclaims Katsuya in disgust, “They don’t see your depth. They
don’t see your devotion to Mokuba, your love of Duel Monsters, your dedication
to making all children happy through Kaiba Corp. They don’t see that. I don’t
know if any of them have even seen a glimpse of the real you. I don’t even know
if I have.”
“Then maybe
I should show you the real me,” says Seto setting the laptop on the coffee
table, “Come on! It’s break time!”
Katsuya
blinks in confusion. “Break? I thought we just had a break!”
“Time for
another… All work and no play makes Katsuya Jonouchi a dull boy!” exclaims Seto
smiling.
“Hell
yeah!” exclaims Katsuya turning off the monitor as he stands up and moves over
to Seto.
Seto stands
and grabs Katsuya’s hand. He drags the blond out of his office and up several
flights of stairs until they stop outside of a large, heavy-looking door with
no handle marring its surface.
“Um… Kaiba…
where are we?” asks Katsuya.
“This is a
place I haven’t been in many years,” says Seto, “So it’s probably very dusty.
The maids don’t clean up here because they don’t know the pass code.”
“Okay… that
explains nothing.”
Seto
chuckles. “You’ll see.”
Katsuya
nods his head.
Seto
reaches out and gently caresses the door dead center.
Katsuya
gasps as a screen appears on the flawless surface of the door. “Cool!”
Seto
presses his palm against the screen and a red light surrounds his hand as the
door scans him for identification purposes. “Puppies are perfectly playful when
pretty princes practice poetry.”
“Okay! Now
try saying that five times fast!” exclaims Katsuya chuckling and trying to
stifle his laughter with his hand.
Seto glares
at Katsuya. “I shouldn’t be showing you this!”
“I’m sorry,
Kaiba! It’s just that’s kind of funny!” exclaims Katsuya calming himself
quickly.
“I was
about Mokuba’s age when I came up with it. Back then I could say it five times
fast,” says Seto blushing. He removes his hand from the door and it slides
open. He reaches out for Katsuya’s hand and pulls the blond inside with him.
Katsuya
looks around the room at the various items.
Paintings
of all sorts and sizes, but mostly containing a picture of a young Mokuba
somewhere within their borders, line one wall. Various musical instruments and
pages of sheet music line another wall. A desk rests against the wall with the
window and it’s scattered with books and handwritten pages. The fourth wall, with
the door in the center, has bookshelves packed with games, mechanical
inventions, and even a few Duel Monster cards in protective glass frames.
“This is
your…”
“Creating
room,” says Seto.
“Wow! I
want one!” exclaims Katsuya, “Who did all these paintings of Mokuba?” He rushes
to the paintings and starts to look through them carefully. His eye lands on
the easel in the corner, and he moves towards it to see the unfinished picture.
“That’s all
my artwork,” says Seto, “When Mokuba and I were younger, I was always working
on some piece of art whether it be a painting like those, composing music, or
writing something. I was very good at writing poetry once upon a time.”
“I’d like
to read some of it sometime… if you still have it,” says Katsuya, “and you don’t
mind that is.” He stares at the unfinished picture of Mokuba looking so
forlorn. “Set… Kaiba…?”
“Yes?”
“Tell me
about this painting.” Katsuya tilts his head to the side like a curious puppy.
Seto walks
towards Katsuya and stands beside him to look at the picture as well. “This was
the last painting I did. I couldn’t finish it. It’s missing something, but I
could never figure out what it was missing.”
“What’s
going on in his mind? What do you think Mokuba is thinking here?” asks Katsuya
looking at Seto.
“He’s sad.
When I painted this, I had just made him sad. I had done something that made
him run to Goz… that bastard!” exclaims Seto, “It was during my take-over of
Kaiba Corp.”
“I see.
There is a touch of betrayal in his eyes,” says Katsuya looking closer at the
familiar eyes on the canvas. “I understand it. I think I know what’s missing.”
Seto’s eyes
widen. He stares at Katsuya with hope in his cerulean blue eyes. “What? What is
it missing?”
“Comfort.
Mokuba is sad, so he needs someone or something here with him to be sad with
him and help comfort him so that he can be the happy bundle of energy we know
so well,” says Katsuya, “I think… maybe you don’t want to use yourself, but you
would definitely work. If you don’t want to put yourself into it, then I think
it should be a puppy… a golden retriever puppy.”
“A puppy to
comfort him!” exclaims Seto, “That’s it! Yes! I can see it now! You’re right,
puppy! You’re absolutely right!” He starts looking around and he quickly
snatches up a charcoal pencil. He begins to make the rough outline of what will
hopefully turn into a puppy.
Katsuya
steps backwards and walks over to look at the instruments. He touches them with
soft hands, but he doesn’t lift any from its display. He finds the music sheets
and starts to look through them. He finds a song with an interesting title and
starts to hum it quietly to himself.
Seto steps
back from the canvas and looks at his work, partially in full-color oil paint
and part in charcoal. “Jou? Do you think I’ve done it?”
Katsuya
walks back over to the painting and looks at it. He smiles. “It needs color,
but it’s good.”
“I’ll work
on the puppy’s mouth and eyes when I get back to it with the paint,” says Seto,
“I’ll need to buy new paints. My old ones are dried up.” He then looks at the
stack of music sheets in Katsuya’s hand. “Can you sing?”
“Can you
play all these instruments?” replies Katsuya.
“Yes, I
can. That bastard… Gozaburo…” The name of Seto’s tormentor slips off his tongue
like poison. “He insisted I learn to play them all.”
“If you
want to play, I’ll sing,” says Katsuya.
Seto
selects a mandolin and nods to Katsuya. “What song are you holding?”
“Well… I
have a few that you wrote,” says Katsuya flipping through the stack, “Plus I
have Kiss the Girl from the Little Mermaid and Remember Me
This Way from Casper.”
“What song
would you like to sing?” asks Seto.
Katsuya
blushes. “Well, I really like the one from Casper, but…”
“Does my
puppy have a soft spot for American animated movies?” asks Seto with a joking
smile.
Katsuya
blushes even brighter as he chuckles nervously.
“Let’s do Kiss
the Girl,” says Seto, “I think I remember the music.”
“Here,”
says Katsuya walking over to hold the music sheet in front of Seto so they can
both see it.
Seto begins
to play the tune on the mandolin. “You do the crab. I’ll do the rest.”
“Percussion…
strings,” whispers Katsuya, “Winds… words…”
Seto smiles
as he strokes the strings of the mandolin.
“There you
see her, sitting there across the way. She don’t got a lot to say, but there’s
something about her, and you don’t know why, but you’re dying to try,” sings
Katsuya, “You wanna kiss the girl.”
Seto moves
closer to Katsuya and stares at the blond.
“Yes, you
want her. Look at her, you know you do. Possible she wants you too. There is
one way to ask her. It don’t take a word, not a single word, go on and kiss the
girl,” sings Katsuya, “Sing with me now…”
“Sha-la-la-la-la-la
my oh my,” sing Katsuya and Seto together as Seto brushes his shoulder up
against Katsuya’s.
“Look like the
boy too shy, ain’t gonna kiss the girl,” sings Katsuya blushing, but his blush
is nothing compared to the one gracing Seto’s cheeks.
“Sha-la-la-la-la-la
my oh my,” sing Katsuya and Seto.
“Ain’t it a
shame, too bad. He gonna miss the girl,” sings Katsuya, “Now’s your moment…
floating in the blue lagoon. Boy, you better do it soon. No time would be
better. She don’t say a word…”
Seto turns
to stand right in front of Katsuya and he leans closer to the blond, watching
as the pink lips form the shapes to make the music come to life.
“And she
won’t say a word,” sings Katsuya, “Until you kiss the girl…” He watches Seto
get closer to him.
“Sha-la-la-la-la-la
my oh my,” sing Katsuya and Seto.
“You got
the mood prepared, go on and kiss the girl,” sings Katsuya.
“Sha-la-la-la-la-la
don’t stop now,” sing Katsuya and Seto.
“Don’t try
to hide it, how? You wanna kiss the girl,” sings Katsuya, “Whoa, whoa…”
“Sha-la-la-la-la-la
float along,” sing Katsuya and Seto.
Seto leans
closer to Katsuya as he strums the mandolin. His face is now inches from the
blond’s, and he smiles because Katsuya doesn’t back away.
“And listen
to the song. The song say, kiss the girl,” sings Katsuya, “Whoa, whoa.”
“Sha-la-la-la-la-la
music play,” sing Katsuya and Seto.
“Do what
the music say,” sings Katsuya as Seto inches slightly closer so their lips are
almost touching, “You wanna kiss the girl.”
“You got
to,” sings Seto.
“Kiss the
girl,” sings Katsuya. His heart starts pounding in expectation.
“Why don’t
you?” sings Seto.
“Kiss the
girl…”
“Go on. You
gotta…”
“Kiss the
girl.”
“Go on
and…”
Katsuya
whispers, “Kiss the girl…”
Seto moves
his lips just past Katsuya’s mouth and places a gentle peck on his cheek. He
steps back quickly as a blush rises to his cheeks. He shakes his head. “Damn!
This room… I always lose myself here! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that!”
Katsuya
closes his eyes to hide the hurt within them. “That’s o… kay…”
Seto’s eyes
widen when he hears Katsuya’s voice crack.
Katsuya
turns away from Seto and walks to the wall containing the door they entered
through. He lifts some sort of machine and starts to look it over.
Seto
replaces the mandolin on its stand. He walks to Katsuya and takes the music
sheets from his hand.
Katsuya
continues to look at the small machine while Seto puts the music sheets away.
He glances over his shoulder at Seto finally. “Kaiba… what is this?”
Seto looks
at Katsuya and sees the tear that still runs down his cheek. He walks back over
to Katsuya and looks at the machine. “You know… I don’t remember!”
Katsuya
bursts into laughter and nearly drops the item from his hands.
Seto
quickly grabs the small machine from Katsuya and places it back on the shelf.
Katsuya
wipes his face and slowly gains control of his laughter. “I’m sorry! I just
never expected you to forget something like that!”
“Well, I
don’t think that one ever truly worked,” says Seto, “It was one of my failures.
I’ve only had a few of them.” He turns away from Katsuya and walks to his desk.
He lifts a book. “You can read this in your spare time.”
Katsuya
cocks his head at the book. “What is it?”
“A
collection of my poetry,” says Seto coldly.
Katsuya
takes the book and opens it to see the neat calligraphy within. “Wow!”
“And if you
think you could remember the pass code, I’ll set it up so you can enter here
whenever you want to look at the music I’ve composed, my paintings or to pick
up a new book of my writing,” says Seto, “What is the point of making such
things if no one ever sees them after all?”
“I would
like that!” exclaims Katsuya smiling, “I would like that a lot!”
“Can you
remember the pass code?”
“Puppies
are perfectly playful when pretty princes practice poetry.” Katsuya smirks.
Seto smirks
in return. “Let’s go, puppy!”
Katsuya
follows Seto out of the room.
The door
closes automatically.
Seto grabs
Katsuya’s hand and places it on the touch pad so the scan initiates. “Now… when
you come here. You’ll have to activate the scanner the way I did. You remember
that?”
“Yes,” says
Katsuya reaching up once the scan completes and performing the same caress of
the door that Seto had made to reveal the scan-pad. He gasps when the wall
becomes flawless once more with all its secrets hidden again.
“So…
Remember all that and you can come back here whenever you want,” says Seto,
“Now I’ve wasted enough time. I have to get back to work.”
“Yeah… and
I should get down to the kitchen to make dinner!” exclaims Katsuya looking at
his watch, “Mokuba’s probably getting hungry by now. Although I did leave him
something for a snack!”
“Well… call
me when dinner is ready, and I’ll come down to eat with you and Mokuba,” says
Seto, “but I need to be getting back to my office.”
Katsuya
nods, and the two go their separate ways.
Seto heads
to his office and sits down. He thinks for a moment and wonders just what magic
it was that convinced him to kiss Katsuya after their performance of the song. ‘Maybe
it was the music. The way he kept singing that line… Kiss the girl… Maybe it
was the room. I haven’t been there in years and I’ve always done the strangest
things in there… Oh, Gods! Like that fertility painting I did! I was nuts using
my own… Maybe it was just Katsuya… He is so hot! Beautiful… gorgeous really!
And he has a wonderful voice!’
‘And
if you weren’t such a coward, that luscious ass of his would be impaled by my…
or our… penis right now!’ screams Seth within Seto’s mind.
‘I do
not want to have sex with Katsuya, Seth, and I’m sure as hell not going to
allow you to use my body to fuck him with!’ shouts Seto to himself, ‘Wait
a minute… Seth… aren’t you supposed to still be stuck in that God-forsaken Rod?
What the hell are you doing in my head?’
‘You
touched the Rod once. I transferred part of me to you then. I can do things
like that…’
‘Now get
the fuck out of my mind!’ Seto leans back in his chair and closes his eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Seto’s~Dream~~~~~~~~~~~~
“That was fun…”
“What
was, Seto?” asks Jou as he ruffles his shaggy blond hair with a towel to dry
it.
“Spending
the day doing nothing,” says Kaiba, “Eating and swimming and watching movies.
I’ve never really done that before. Once in awhile Mokuba gets me to go on
vacation with him and we spend the days playing tennis, soccer, and chess… with
an occasional duel. But that’s usually only for half a day at the most. I’ve never
spent an entire day just having… fun. Thank you, Katsuya.”
Jou
looks at Kaiba and tosses his towel over the brunet’s wet head. “So… how does
it feel having that stick removed from your ass?”
Kaiba
pulls the towel off his head and glares at Jou.
“Just kidding!”
Jou quickly leans down over Kaiba, who sits on a lounge chair beside the pool
where they had been messing around just moments before. He places a kiss on the
tip of Kaiba’s nose and backs away as fast as he can. He blushes.
Kaiba
turns away from Jou to try to stop his own bright red blush from showing.
“Have
you ever been kissed before?” asks Jou.
“Just…
Mokuba and you,” says Kaiba covering his face and head with the towel. He
starts to dry his chestnut locks with the fluffy fabric.
“Oh…
I’m… I… well, I guess I’m sorry,” says Jou turning away from Kaiba and flopping
down onto another lounge chair.
Kaiba
peeks out from beneath the towel and sees Jou staring at the mansion doors. He
snarls, “Sorry? Sorry for what?”
“Your
first kiss… giving you your first kiss… I mean, oh, shit! I don’t know what I
mean! I just think that you should have gotten your first kiss from someone
that you like!”
“Do you
think that I don’t like you?”
“Well, I
know you like me in some manner, but your first kiss should have been from a romantic
interest,” says Jou, “and that’s why I apologize.”
“Don’t
apologize… I don’t mind you kissing me. After all, you are fairly attractive
and any person with a sex drive would be interested in you romantically,” says
Kaiba hiding beneath his towel as he dries his hair.
Jou
smirks and looks towards Kaiba. “Are you saying I turn you on? Or that you just
don’t mind because you have no sex drive?”
Kaiba
snarls at Jou as he rips the towel from his head. He glares at the blond boy.
“Shut the hell up!”
Jou
smiles. He sighs and looks at the mansion doors again. “Anything for you,
Master…”
“That’s
not like you, Katsuya,” says Kaiba sighing, “You never agree with me, much less
so fast. What’s troubling you?”
“You…”
“Me?”
Kaiba stands and walks over to Jou’s chair.
“Me…”
Kaiba
quirks an eyebrow as he sits down on the foot of Jou’s chair.
“Dreams…”
“Oh… I
see… now the meaning of these dreams are confusing you as well,” says Kaiba, “I
thought you knew just that you couldn’t tell me because I had to figure it out
on my own.”
“I
thought I knew, but now I don’t know. I’m only a dream version of the Katsuya
Jonouchi that you know. I’m not really him. You don’t pull him into your dreams
every night. You summon me, like a Duel Monster,” says Jou, “And… I’m like a
past Jou. I mean, I know everything from his past, but it’s like when these
dreams of yours started, that’s the moment I ceased to be a part of Jou. All I
know is what came before. I don’t know what Jou’s thinking this very second or even
yesterday. So I don’t know if he’s willing these dreams or… or I just don’t
know.”
Kaiba
wraps his arms around Jou and pulls him up tightly to him. “It doesn’t matter,
Katsuya. This can’t go on forever. And when I do figure out the meaning of
these dreams, we’ll celebrate, you and I…”
“No. We
won’t. Once you figure out why you’re dreaming like this, you won’t dream like
this anymore. Of that I’m sure,” says Jou burying his face in Kaiba’s neck.
“Then
maybe, I don’t want to know what they mean…”
“Don’t
tell me you’re beginning to enjoy these dreams!”
“I do…
enjoy your company,” whispers Kaiba.
“Seto…”
“Katsuya…”
Jou
quickly lifts his lips to catch Kaiba’s in a chaste kiss before backing down
and cuddling with the taller boy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seto opens
his eyes with a smile.
‘See?
Kissing Katsuya wouldn’t be that bad!’
‘Not
that bad at all!’ thinks Seto, ‘But he will be mine before you ever get
him, Seth, and I can’t have him!’
‘Why
not? He’s attracted to men! You’re attracted to men! Fuck him so that I can
have a turn with him!’
‘I can’t
have him!’ Seto closes his eyes and wills himself to go to sleep so that he
can once more dream of the blond who has taken so deep a hold over him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Seto’s~Dream~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You are a stupid mutt!”
exclaims Kaiba pushing Jou up against the wall.
“I’m not
a fucking dog!” exclaims Jou growling back at Kaiba.
In an
instant, Kaiba presses his lips up against Jou’s and forces his tongue into the
blond’s big mouth.
Jou’s
eyes widen as Kaiba’s tongue plunders his mouth. He hesitantly rubs his tongue
against the one invading his mouth.
Kaiba
pulls away from the kiss breathing heavily. He looks at the still wide-eyed
blond whose cheeks tinge pink from slight embarrassment and want. He quickly
calms his heart and his mask of coldness covers his face again. “This meant
nothing!”
“Seto!”
exclaims Jou as Kaiba turns abruptly and walks away.
