Dear Bakura,
I… There are things that make everyone break their promises. You will understand everything after this memory. I never wanted to break our promise. After this memory, you will remember everything. We will be strong enough to talk to each other a little more, but for right now, all I can do is apologize. I will be there after this memory. If nothing else, I can do that for you, my Bakura. For this memory, spread the remaining oil all over yourself especially around your heart.
~Love Yuugi
Bakura read the letter both curious and apprehensive about what could’ve made Yuugi break his promise. It was clear from that letter and his memories that Yuugi wouldn’t have wanted to do something like that and so whatever it was had to be bad. Bakura knew he needed to do what Yuugi said, but he was worried about what he’d remember this time. Would he be strong enough to face what had happened or would he end up breaking underneath the weight of it?
He slipped out of most of his clothing and laid in his bed. When he touched the oil this time, he stuck to his hand much like the first night and he spread the remaining bit on his limbs, head, and heart like he was instructed to. As he laid down and began to fall into a deep sleep, he felt a strange sense of fear that went through his body.
Bakura was in the process of reconfiguring Kaiba’s security system. An employee had just been fired and swore his revenge on Kaiba Corporation. Seto had personally asked Bakura if he would ensure that the employee couldn’t get in, especially since the employee claimed to have downloaded the security codes to override the system. He’d rather it be changed than to have any issues, and Bakura agreed it was better to be safe than sorry.
At 7pm, he was visited by Yuugi, who was on his way home. “Still working? I can stay if you need me to.” Yuugi said looking at him. “Ryou had wanted to hang out for a bit, but honestly, I don’t want to leave you here alone.”
Just as Bakura was about to answer, one of the other security techs came past. “Hey, Bakura, a few of us were going out for a couple drinks later. Do you want to come with us? We are going to celebrate the new recruits.” the man said. His name was Kenichi and was one of Bakura’s work buddies.
Yuugi smiled a bit. “Go have fun, Bakura. I will let you know as soon as I get home. Don’t worry. Ryou is driving. Actually, maybe you should worry. If I don’t text, I’m probably on the roadside somewhere.” he said with a light chuckle.
Bakura laughed a bit. “It will be fine. I’ll let you know when I leave here. I should probably be back around 11 or midnight. I have to get up in the morning after all.” he said and then kissed Yuugi and watched as the other left.
Kenichi smiled and told him the address of the bar and not to work too hard. Bakura nodded. “I should be done within the next thirty to forty-five minutes. I’ll see you guys there.” he said and went back to changing up the security system and then switching some of those changes since his subordinate had come in here and he didn’t want anyone minus himself, Kaiba, Yuugi, and Mokuba knowing the security in and outs of the building.
It took exactly thirty-five minutes for him to finish and he smiled before sending the new codes and more to Kaiba. He grabbed all of his things, put the building into night security mode, and went to the bar with his co-workers. Honestly, it was more fun than he would’ve expected as he sat with them and joked around. He had texted Yuugi of when he planned on leaving, but said to give him a few minutes, just in case he was caught up in a conversation.
At 10:45pm, Bakura was preparing to leave. Mostly, everyone had left and one co-worker asked for another round for the ones that were still there. They all had their drinks and as they finished got up to leave, except for him and Kenichi. Bakura thanked him for the latest round and stood up feeling dizzy. Kenichi offered to give him a ride home, which Bakura accepted since he was a lot more drunk than he expected.
Once in the car, he had laid his head against the cool glass. Did he really drink that much? He was pretty sure minus that last round, he had only had two of the same drink because they didn’t give him too much of a light buzz. He could just see Yuugi’s amused look in his mind as he helped him to relax. Maybe he should go back to the office instead and… wait… they had been driving for a little while. Bakura opened his eyes and looked around.
“Where are…?” he asked Kenichi who had turned and was pulling up to this old, abandoned Kaiba Corp. warehouse. Nothing was left here and so Kaiba just left the building to rot.
Kenichi said nothing and got out of the car before dragging Bakura out on to the ground and into an opened garage. “You know, you are much too pretty to be wasted on Yuugi. I was so happy when you agreed to come out tonight without him because I knew… I knew I would have the chance to get you alone.” he said with a smirk.
Bakura felt dizzy even as he realized he was in danger. He pushed at the male, only to realize it felt like his strength was sapped. He tried using shadow magic, but he was in no where near the condition to use it effectively. A sting hit his cheek as he felt Kenichi slap him, and then he was flipped over as his pants pulled down. He felt Kenichi’s fingers thrust inside of him.
“Oh don’t worry, Bakura. This is just the beginning.” Kenichi said as Bakura felt a sharp pain.
The shock of it all was causing his mind to go numb as he felt hits, cuts, and more to his body as he kept losing more strength. He barely whispered in his mind. ‘Help me, Yuugi… please… save me…’
Yuugi was frowning as Bakura wasn’t home. He was usually on time when he said he would be home, but maybe he was throwing up in an alley somewhere. A light chuckle had left his lips as he thought of his fiancé. He quickly put on some warmer clothes and went out to find Bakura. Yuugi was almost to the bar, when he heard Bakura’s message in his mind. His blood ran cold as he saw a glimpse of where Bakura was. He quickly slipped into the shadows to get there a lot faster, but what he didn’t see was Atem.
When he got there, he saw Kenichi harming Bakura. He saw the jerkiness of his body as the male forcibly took his lover. Yuugi’s eyes were almost glowing with anger as he went over there. He didn’t even care if anyone else could feel the shadow magic rolling off of him in waves as he went over and pulled that guy away from his nearly passed out lover.
Kenichi tried to say something against him, but it didn’t work as Yuugi didn’t care to listen. He picked up one of the old tools left and started hitting Kenichi over and over. When Kenichi tried to run, Yuugi just laughed and let the darkness consume him at that moment. “You will not escape from me!” he said to him with amusement dancing in amethyst orbs. “How dare you hurt him!” Yuugi used the magic to wrap around Kenichi’s neck, choking him, as he went over grabbing the male’s hair and slamming him down on the ground.
He grabbed the knife that Kenichi had brought to cause Bakura pain and looked it over while slamming his foot into Kenichi’s head. Yuugi got down on top of Kenichi and saw him about to pass out. “Oh no, you are not going to die on me just yet. A quick death would be too merciful even now with your body bruised and broken.” he whispered. He used the magic to keep Kenichi alert as he started slicing off strips of flesh and laughed each time the man screamed and begged for it all to end.
Yuugi pulled a lighter out of Kenichi’s pocket. “Oh? What did you plan to use this for? Can I guess?” he asked gleefully as he moved, pulling off Kenichi’s pants and boxers. “Now let’s see…” he said as took off the man’s belt and set the tip on fire. “Do you think this can go in there? I do.” Yuugi told him and pushed the burning end of the belt into the man. The scream he heard was amazing and he didn’t stop his torture until the man or what was left of him was nothing more than a bloody mess of unrecognizable meat.
After that, he didn’t bother to wipe away the traces of what he had done as he slowly cleaned up Bakura’s cuts with shadow magic. It wasn’t the best, but it would at least stop the bleeding and such until they got to a hospital or something to properly patch the injuries up. He had learned a lot of tricks and realized they hadn’t been using the magic to its full potential. Of course, he hadn’t learned how to fully heal injuries or this would be going much better.
He cleaned Bakura up and dressed him as best as possible when he felt himself bound in ropes made of the same shadow magic he was using. Yuugi turned to see Atem and the rest of their gang coming up, but naturally Atem was at the front, so the others didn’t see anything. They only saw Yuugi tied up, Bakura’s blood, and the mess of a human being on the ground.
Ryou ran over to Bakura first and hugged him. “Bakura, wake up, what happened?!”, he kept trying to ask him, but Bakura was still out of it.
Atem looked at them all. “It was Yuugi who did all of this. Look. You can see the remnants of shadow magic use in his eyes. We need to lock him away before he gets worse. If he is willing to do that to someone, who knows what he could do to others.”
There was a light argument of people stating that they needed to know what happened. Some of them, like Kaiba, Malik, Ryou, Ryuji, and Marik were defending Yuugi. Others like Anzu, Jonouchi, Honda were in agreeance with him and Mokuba, Ishizu, Shizuka, and Mai were on the fence.
Atem looked irritated as everyone was questioning as to whether this was a good idea. “Can’t you all see how dangerous he is? He has to go away. What if he hurts Bakura? Should we all just apologize for not doing anything when we had the chance?”
“He’s right. It’s the only way…” Shizuka said even though she still wasn’t sure about this.
Ryo spoke up next. “There has to be another way. This will hurt Bakura even more.”
Mai looked at them all and then remembered how they had helped her after her dealings with Marik and helped to block her memory until they felt she could handle it. “Not if he doesn’t remember. If he can’t remember, then everything will be fine.”
“What if he does remember? What if one of us tells him? What if I tell him?” Malik said not wanting any part of this. They have no idea why Yuugi killed that guy and it wouldn’t be fair to hurt Bakura like this. Those two were two of his best friends.
Atem grabbed Malik’s hair and pulled him close. “If you tell him, you will be punished to the point of being unrecognizable. Any of us will be. We can keep this a secret forever as long as no one breaks the taboo.”
“I don’t agree with this, but fine. Who is going to do it?” Mokuba spoke up next as he didn’t want this to happen, but he was at a loss of what they could do.
“I’m thinking Bakura doing it will be fine.” Atem said with an internal smirk on his features at the thought of it.
“What?! No… you do it. Don’t make Bakura betray him.” Ryo and Marik shouted out at the same time.
“It’s the only way to make it work.” Atem told them in a tone that made it clear he didn’t and wouldn’t argue about it. He went over to Bakura waking him up just a bit. “Bakura, you need to wake up. There is a threat and we need to get rid of it.” he said as he slowly started to cloud Bakura’s mind. “You know he needs to be sealed away. Look at what he did.”
Bakura saw the corpse in his hazy state. “Yuugi… why… you… promised…” he said not sure what had happened as Atem was slowly sealing his memories of the event. Atem could see what really happened, but he didn’t need the rest of them knowing that. He couldn’t have Yuugi running around with shadow magic and this was the way he was sure to keep hold of their little group.
Bakura’s eyes seemed to lose focus and it was only noticed by a few including Yuugi himself. The former container of Atem glared at the former pharaoh as he felt himself being pulled forward. “Bakura… stop this… don’t lock me away in there… you have to remember… you know why…” Yuugi pled with him, but as he saw Bakura twitch, he knew exactly what had happened. Atem had hidden Bakura’s memories starting with what happened tonight.
“You will pay for this, Atem! You and everyone who follows you like the good for nothing dogs that they are!” Yuugi said to Atem angrily before his body laid on the ground motionless. Bakura passing out at the same time.
“Should we remove it from him?” Anzu asked in a small voice when it was all done.
Atem shook his head. “No. It would just find it’s way back to Bakura, but no worries. With him sealed away and the taboo in place, I doubt my former container will ever escape from there as long as Bakura doesn’t remember. Hide away everything you have dealing with him and let’s go get Bakura help.” he said and even though a few of them highly disagreed, they couldn’t do anything about it right now.
Bakura woke up gasping with a few tears sliding down the side of his face. His body was lightly shaking as he laid there in shock at what had happened to him. All of his remaining memories came flooding back in at once and with those memories, the feelings came rushing back in as well. Bakura just laid there and let everything catch up to him, for the moment, unresponsive.
A soft, golden glow appeared in the room and the phantom touch of a hand could barely be felt on Bakura’s face.
“Bakura, I’m so sorry.”
