A is for April Fool's Day
“He said yes.”Yugi’s mouth dropped open before breaking out a big grin.“No.”Joey grimaced.“Really, Yug? I tell you he said yes and you tell me no?!” he exclaimed.Yugi chuckled as he shoved a book in his backpack and zipped it up. He closed his locker and turned to face Joey.“No, Joey. I meant I’m happy for you. When is it going to happen?” Yugi asked.“I was hoping tonight, but he’s got some big meeting today after school. So he agreed to tomorrow.” Sad smile. “But I’m a bit nervous.”Yugi chuckled while shaking his head.“Don’t worry, Joey. You’ll be fine. It’s only a date.”Only a date, he says./……/
The next evening found Joey standing nervously in front of the bathroom mirror. He had changed his clothes a couple of times (or a dozen) before finally settling on the outfit Yugi had picked out. Yugi appeared in the doorway, smiling.
“You look great, Joey. If he doesn’t think so, then he’s blind,” Yugi stated, as a matter of fact.Joey chuckled. That broke up his nerves a little bit. The nearly eighteen year old wore a pair of pure black pants and a forest green shirt. Yugi had commented that this particular green looked really good on him. He only hoped his date thought he looked good, too.Of course he will look good. He always does, Joey thought.Joey turned his head and noticed Yugi looked like he was going out, too. They were currently upstairs in the apartment above the Turtle Game Shop. Joey had been living with Yugi, Yugi’s grandfather, and Yami for almost a year now. Yami and Grandfather were currently in Egypt on a dig; they were due back next week.“Where ya heading, Yugi?” Joey asked, turning to face him.“I’m meeting Teá at the library. We have to go over our project and she gets off her shift there in about an hour. What time’s your date?” Yugi asked.“It’s at six. He’s coming straight from the office so I told him I’d meet him at the restaurant. We’re going to eat at the Italian restaurant. You know the one?” Joey said.Yugi nodded. He had eaten there a few times with Yami and really enjoyed it. He knew Joey had never been there so he knew the blonde would like it. Then again, the blonde might be too nervous to even eat.“I’m going to be leaving soon, actually. I just have to go email Serenity real quick,” Joey told him.“Okay, Joey. I’m going to head out for the library. I probably won’t be back until late,” Yugi said, heading to walk out the door and down the stairs.“Make sure to take the right bus home!” Joey shouted after him.“I will!” Yugi’s response echoed from the stairs.Joey straddled Yugi’s desk chair before logging on to his email. He set the alarm on his cell phone to remind him when he needed to leave to get to the restaurant early. He would much rather arrive early than on time. And being late was not an option. He opened a new message and started typing away to Serenity. To: SerenityFrom: Joey
Subject: YES!!!
Serenity! He said yes! I’ve been asking every day for almost three months and he finally gave in. We’re going out to dinner tonight at that Italian place Yugi and Yami went to. I’m so nervous I’m not even sure I’ll be able to eat. I’m going to wait until after dinner to tell him that I know. I don’t want to ruin the moment and blurt it over the dinner table. It would be really hilarious to see if he squired hot soup out his nose, though.I got your last email and the photos. Glad to see Mom is doing so well with the new boyfriend and I’m glad he’s treating you right. Maybe he can come with you on your next visit. I’d love to meet the guy. Didn’t you say before he’s got a grandson that duels?Joey wrote a little more before looking over the email and using spellcheck. Without warning, his phone started buzzing. He shut the alarm off before sending the email and signing off after he was assured it went through. He pocketed his phone and made for the door, quickly jogging down the steps. The blonde was partially out the door when he ran into Tristan and Duke.“Woah, dude! Where’s the fire?” Tristan asked.“Sorry, guys. Gotta a thing. Whatcha guys doing here, anyway? Ain’t it date night for you two?” Joey asked, turning to lock the store behind him.Tristan shrugged sheepishly.“I forgot my Math notes at school and we got that big test on Monday. Duke ain’t in our Math class so I was hoping I could borrow Yugi’s notes,” Tristan replied.“Yugi went to the library to work on a project with Yugi. He took his backpack with him,” Joey explained.Tristan shot him a face.“Please, man. Can you check? I really need a good grade on this test,” Tristan said.Joey pulled his phone out to take a look at the time. He had some time to spare before he would be on the border of being on time (late; in his mind). He unlocked the store door and ushered the other two teens in. Joey locked the store behind him and led them up the stairs to the apartment.“Looking good tonight, Wheeler. What’s the occasion?” Duke asked, as they came into Yugi and Yami’s room.Joey began shuffling through papers to see if Yugi had left his math notes behind.“I got a date tonight and I can’t be late. Dude will fry my ass if I’m late,” Joey replied, without thinking. The two lovers glanced at each other. Joey being gay wasn’t news to them, but a date was. Joey had only gone on a couple of dates prior to moving in with Yugi.“Dude, what kind of date is this guy if he’s going to get mad at you for being late? Everyone knows gay guys are always late to a date,” Tristan told him.Joey threw his hands up in defeat. Clearly, Yugi had taken his math notes with him. He stormed out of Yugi’s room and down the hall to his room. Or, what had been changed into his room. The other two followed close behind.“It’s a guy I don’t want pissed at me since I am the one that asked him,” Joey said.He snatched up his backpack and dug into before pulling out his notes. He walked over to the printer that sat in the former upstairs office. Joey flipped up the scanner lid, pressed the paper down, closed the lid and pressed Scan. He had the same math test on Monday and there was no way Tristan would get his notes back to him before then.“Where are you going for your date?” Duke asked.“That new Italian restaurant. Nino’s.”The scan finished and Joey snatched up the copy. He stuffed it into Tristan’s hands and pushed both males towards the door. He would have had them had the two not thrown up their hands to stop in the doorway. Joey let out an embarrassing whine at the back of his throats.
“Guys, I am not fucking kidding. I hate to be the bad guy, but I will be if it’ll get you down the stairs and out,” Joey snapped.Tristan and Duke threw him off and turned around.“Come on, Joey. We just want to know who the guy is. You must know him pretty well if you know how he’ll be if you’re late. Which means we probably know him too,” Tristan said, a big grin splitting across his face.Joey growled with a glare. These two bumbling morons he called friends were blocking his only exit. He didn’t have much of a choice. His date hadn’t said he couldn’t tell anyone. Maybe the shock of his date’s identity would get them moving.“It’s with Kaiba, all right?” Joey snapped. The response he got, however, was not how he had predicted it. Instead of freezing up in shock, the two burst out laughing. They laughed so hard they were clutching their sides. Joey felt quite offended. This wasn’t a laughing matter. They were going to make him miss being early. At this rate, he’d have to run for the bus to get there on time.“All right, all right. Ha ha Now can you both move your asses?” Joey demanded.Tristan stood up, wiping tears from his eyes.“You got us good, Joey. Man, you almost made me forget what today is,” Tristan told him.“Don’t know what the Hell yer talkin’ about, man. And I don’t give a damn.” Growl. “Get out.”Duke walked towards him and threw his arm around Joey’s shoulders.“Ha Ha. You’re still a crack-up, Wheeler. That was a good April Fool’s Day joke. You really had us going there,” Duke told him.Joey rammed his elbow into Duke’s gut, but he ducked out of the way before Joey could make contact. “I ain’t kidding. I been asking Kaiba out for a few months now and he finally said yes. Now get out before I throw you out!”/……/
It was close to ten when Yugi got back. He would have returned a little sooner, but his bus had stalled and they were forced to wait for a new bus. He knew Joey would still be awake and wanting to tell him all about the date. With that thought in mind, Yugi quickly unlocked the door and stepped in. He locked the shop door behind him before going upstairs.
Yugi dropped his backpack by his door. He could see Joey’s door cracked open at the end of the hall.“Joey! Are you still awake?” Yugi called. The response he got terrified him to the core.“Yugi, help!”Yugi bolted down the hall, throwing the door open instantly. Joey was tied down to a chair in the center of the room. His feet were tied together but his wrists were tied separately to the arms of the chair. Yugi darted for the chair and quickly went after the ties to one of Joey’s wrists.“Joey, what happened? How did your father get in?” Yugi asked, kneeling to get a better angle at the ropes.“Fuck that! It wasn’t that bastard. It was the morons I call ex-friends. God, when I get a hold of Tristan and Dice Boy. I’m going to tear them apart!” Joey growled.“Duke and Tristan? But why would they do this?” Yugi asked, getting the wrist free.He gasped when Joey’s hand jerked free and flew through the air to the other wrist. Joey’s free wrist was badly scarred from obvious attempts at getting free. As if suddenly remembering something, Joey’s hand froze and his gaze snapped to Yugi.“Yugi, what time is it?”Yugi gasped.“Oh no. Don’t tell me you’ve been here the whole time,” Yugi said. The furious look in Joey’s eyes suddenly shifted to one of despair. Joey’s bottom lip started trembling.“Yugi…Yug, man, you gotta call the restaurant. Please.”Yugi quickly stood and snatched his cell phone out of his pocket. As he thumbed through the contacts and found the restaurant’s number, Yugi moved over to the window where he could get better reception. He didn’t want to voice it out loud, but he had doubts that Kaiba would wait that long for Joey.“Buonasera. I am Marco, the host for the evening. How may I help you this fine evening?”“I’m running very late to a business dinner and I’m afraid my message may not have reached my associate,” Yugi lied smoothly. “I was wondering if he was still there.”Yugi glanced over his shoulder. Joey had freed his other wrist and was bent down ripping through the ropes around his ankles.“Of course, signor. We have many businessmen dining with us this evening. I shall be happy to pass the message along. Who shall I be talking to?”“Seto Kaiba.”Yugi held his breath and waited for a response. He knew it was a lost cause when he heard the host murmur something unsavory.“I am sorry. Signor Kaiba left us some time ago. We got quite busy, but I did see him leave without ordering. He seemed quite unhappy.”For the first time in his life, Yugi found himself cursing silently. Kaiba was probably beyond pissed with Joey for missing their date, especially after it was Joey who had asked Kaiba out. He looked up as Joey stood up on uneasy feet; probably due to his feet falling asleep. He collapsed back into the chair. The look he gave Yugi broke the short male’s heart. His gaze fell to the floor.“Um…thank you. No message then. Have…have a good evening.”“And to you, signor.”Yugi hung up the phone and slowly lifted his head. Joey had his head down in his hands and he was trembling. Yugi pocketed his phone and carefully approached the taller teen.“Joey? Joey, what happened?” Yugi murmured. He reached out to touch Joey’s shoulder. However, as soon as his hand landed, Joey jerked up to his feet. Keeping his head down, Joey snatched up his jacket from the couch bed. He yanked his arms through the sleeves and zipped it up while heading for the doorway.“I’ll tell you later, Yug. I gotta get to Kaiba and explain,” Joey said.Yugi hurled himself at the doorway and threw his arms up, blocking Joey’s exit.“Joey, it’s too late. It takes an hour to reach Kaiba’s place by bus and the busses stopped running. By the time you get out there, everyone will be asleep,” Yugi protested. With his head still down, Joey’s hands fell heavy on Yugi’s shoulders. For a moment, Yugi thought Joey might actually hurt him. To his surprise, Joey fell to his knees with a loud sob. Acting on instinct, Yugi threw his arms around Joey’s head and cradled his head to his stomach. The sounds of Joey crying nearly brought him to tears himself. All Yugi could do was hold on to Joey and just let him get it all out. Finally, after letting out heart-wrenching sobs, Joey managed to tell Yugi the sordid details. What he told him made Yugi want to go out and knock those two lovers’ heads together.Let Joey leave those two jerks to me. How could they do this to Joey, Yugi thought. After a few more attempts to leave, Yugi managed to convince Joey to wait until morning to go to Kaiba Mansion. Tomorrow was Sunday which meant the busses would start running early. Joey curled up on his couch bed, but couldn’t fall asleep. Yugi sat with him and turned the television on that was attached to the wall. They watched the television, but neither of them was really engrossed in what was on.When an acceptable time came to leave, Yugi walked Joey to the bus stop. Before that, he helped Joey clean up his face and disinfect his sore wrists. Joey hid the sores using his jacket sleeves as he rode on the bus. It felt like a lifetime before Joey finally arrived at Kaiba Mansion. He was pleasantly surprised when security let him through, but when he knocked on the door it wasn’t Kaiba that came to the door.Mokuba glared at him. This threw Joey for a loop. He didn’t even know the kid knew how to glare.“Go away, Joey. Big brother doesn’t want to see you,” Mokuba sneered.Joey wrung his hands together.“Kid, you gotta let me in. I got to explain what happened last night,” Joey explained. If possible, Mokuba’s glare seemed to intensify.“You don’t have to explain yourself, Joey. You made it quite clear last night that everything was a joke. And don’t worry. Seto got your card.”Joey was beyond confused. What card? What about this boiling hot mess was clear?!“Mokuba, you don’t understand. It wasn’t a joke. I really wanted a date with your brother,” Joey protested, tears welling up in his eyes.Joey was shocked when Mokuba’s hand shot out and shoved him. He stumbled down the short steps from the door and was lucky to not twist or break anything.“You’re a fucking liar, Joey. You get off our property. And you leave my brother alone!”A single tear fell down Joey’s face before Mokuba slammed the door shut. Mokuba’s yelling and calling him a liar brought up old memories; memories he didn’t care to remember. He turned around and ran away, only barely stopping long enough to squeeze through the front gate. With his hood up, Joey slowed to a walk once he was far enough from the mansion. He was able to wait until he reached the game shop and apartment to collapse on his couch bed. He curled into a tight ball, sobbing loudly into his pillow. Yugi came out of the shower and froze. He could hear Joey down the hall and feared the worst.Yugi scrambled to Joey’s side and tried to get him to talk, but Joey was so lost in his anguish he couldn’t (or wouldn’t speak). Yugi had to listen as Joey sobbed his eyes out for an hour, occasionally choking on his own tears or having to stop because of hiccups. Finally, Yugi was able to get a choked up, shortened version of what had happened. He realized instantly why he was more upset about Mokuba than Kaiba.“He…he called m-me a liar, Yug. It hurts real bad. Last night was s-s-supposed to be g-good. I wanted t-t-to tell K-Kaiba I know. I know what he did.”Yugi stood up straight with an alarmed look on his face. Joey knew? How could Joey know and for how long, had Joey known?“I’ve known since a couple of months after my dad. *sniff* Bastard told me himself when I visited him. *cough* *cough*”Yugi listened as Joey told him the one thing he didn’t understand. Mokuba had mentioned a card and that Seto had gotten it. Yugi gasped. Without warning, he left Joey’s room. He ran down the hall, down the stairs and to the front counter. He found a marked envelope and a receipt on the desk, but no card.“Holy fucking shit, those bastards!” Yugi cursed.Had anyone heard them, they probably would have been staring at him with their mouths hanging open. Yugi ran back upstairs and to Joey. The blonde was slumped over in his ball again, softly crying again.“Joey? Joey? I’m sorry. They must have seen the April Fool’s Day card I meant to mail to Yami. Listen. I’m going to fix this.”Yugi wasn’t sure if Joey actually heard him or if the words he said registered. Yugi left immediately for Kaiba Corp. He reached the building in record timing and went straight to the receptionist. They had two extra days off from school and Yugi wasn’t going to listen to his best friend sob his heart out all that time. The receptionist looked up in surprise.“Mr. Motou, I’m sorry, but Mr. Kaiba isn’t in today,” she told him.“Don’t give me that load of bull, Marie. I know he’s here and you tell him I need to see him right now,” Yugi growled angrily. The receptionist was so shocked by this flip in personality that she rang up Kaiba’s personal secretary. She spoke for a few minutes before turning back to Yugi.“I’m sorry, but Mr. Kaiba is about to go into a meeting. You’ll have to come back later,” the receptionist apologized.“You tell Kaiba’s secretary if I leave, I’m not going far. I will sit outside Kaiba Corp in protest with a sign. I’ll have every member of the press within a 50 mile radius here within the hour. How do you think that’s going to affect sales of that new project you’re releasing next week?”The receptionist, realizing how deadly serious Yugi was, quickly relayed the message. Within a minute, Yugi was wearing a visitor’s badge and riding the elevator up to the top floor. When he reached there, the secretary was waiting for him.“You can go right in, Mr. Motou. But Mr. Kaiba only has ten minutes before his meeting.”The secretary stepped back in alarm at the nasty glare Yugi threw her.“You better cancel all his morning meetings. This is going to take a while,” Yugi told her before disappearing inside.Seto was sitting at his desk when he heard Yugi come in. He spoke without looking up as he stood up.“I don’t have time for this, Motou. Whatever the mutt sent you to do or say, tell him I got the message just fine,” Seto said.“Kaiba? Sit down and shut up.”Seto snapped his head up in surprise. Yugi had a look to kill on his face and Seto briefly wondered if he should call security. He came around the desk and leaned back on it with his arms crossed over his chest.“What do you want, Motou? It’s bad enough Wheeler managed to get one over on me. Pfft! Didn’t even realize yesterday was April Fool’s Day,” Seto said.“And Joey didn’t either. Joey was serious when he’s been asking you out. Kaiba…Joey knows.”Seto’s eyebrows flew up and his eyes grew wide.“Wh…?” Glare. “What did you tell him, Motou?”Yugi glared back at him.“I didn’t tell him a damn thing. He found out months ago from his father when he visited him. Joey was going to tell you last night, but Duke and Tristan stopped him. They thought it was an April Fool’s joke,” Yugi explained.Seto’s frown intensified. He thought he had caught a glimpse of Devlin last night outside the restaurant, but he had played it off as nothing.“Motou, I think you better start from the beginning.”And Yugi did. Joey, wanting to get out of the apartment quickly, had blurted out his plans to Duke and Tristan. They had prevented him from leaving while still thinking he was joking. Tristan tackled his best friend and tied him down to a chair to “save him” from Kaiba. Somehow they had found Yugi’s card to Yami; Tristan knew how to forge Joey’s writing. It all started making sense to Seto. Joey asking him for so many days in so many months had been partially why Seto had finally said yes. He figured Joey was serious about asking. When Yugi got to the part about Joey arriving back from the mansion upset over what Mokuba had said, Seto stopped him.“Why? Why is Wheeler upset over a few words?”Yugi flashed him a sad smile.“Kaiba, I don’t think you know. Joey’s dad…that night he came back late from studying with you…his dad yelled at him and called him a liar. He told Joey there was no way a rich boy like Kaiba would work on a school project with him.”Seto remembered that night well. He and Wheeler had been working at the library over a project. It had gotten later than they both thought and Wheeler had bolted out of there like a bat out of Hell. In his haste to get out, Joey forgot his deck sitting on the table. Knowing he (Seto) wouldn’t be at school the next day, Kaiba had gathered up the deck and gone to Joey’s apartment. When he came to the apartment, he had heard shouting with obscenities and then a gunshot. Roland had released his hidden gun and passed his back-up to Seto. The two had quickly burst in to Joey’s apartment. Joey was bleeding unconscious on the floor and his father stood over him with a gun. The man had been too drunk to actually have hit his son with the gun; the shot had hit the floor a few feet from his leg. Roland had easily subdued the man while Seto had checked on Joey. After getting Joey to the hospital, Seto had paid off any bills with the understanding that none of the hospital staff mentioned he had been there. He had called Yugi and Yami to alert them to what had happened; the same deal set in place. He had provided his testimony to the officers and had remained anonymous.“Kaiba.”Seto snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Yugi. The once angry-looking midget looked as though he were going to cry.“Kaiba, please. Joey meant no harm. All he wanted was a date. I know he meant it because why else would he go out of his way to ask you out every day for three months?” Shrug. “It’s a question he won’t even give me an answer.”Seto’s resolve broke. He snatched up his cell phone as he circled around his desk. He shut the computer down while speaking into the phone.“Roland, I’m leaving for the day. No, I’m going to drive myself. Tell Mokuba to be ready tomorrow for a long discussion.”Yugi stood in silence as Seto signed a few papers and picked them. He grabbed up his trenchcoat and put it on as he headed for the door.“Coming or not?” Seto threw over his shoulder.Yugi scrambled to follow after the tall brunette./……/
It was a lot worse than he had imagined. Joey was curled up into an impossibly small ball on the couch with a blanket wrapped securely around him. The tall male flinched from Yugi when the shorter youth came over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. Yugi whispered something to Joey, but didn’t seem to get a response. He walked back over to the tall eighteen year old who stood in the doorway.
“Kaiba? I don’t think any of this is from you. It’s like what I said in the elevator. I think it’s a combination of things. Please…” Yugi paused to find his words. “Please be gentle with my best friend.”Seto tipped his head to the side in silence, quietly dismissing the short teen. Yugi slipped out of the room and closed the door behind him.Joey’s head was throbbing in horrible pain. His wrists stung and his stomach was cramping so badly that only being curled up staved off the pain. He thought he heard Yugi’s voice through the cloud in his head but everything just hurt too much from all the crying. He forced back a yelp when his body was suddenly lifted and shifted. Someone bigger than Yugi settled him onto their lap as they sat down on the couch.A stinging jolt of pain racked his head with the sudden, jerky movements. He clutched the side of his head with one of his hands and whimpered. A strong hand gently pried his hand off before slipping through his strands and stroking it gently. He sniffled as the hand pulled his head down to rest against a clothed chest. Joey tried to jerk back to avoid ruining said shirt, but the hand was firm in its mission. The reluctant blonde laid his head down with his ear pressed against a small beating sound. The steady beat-beat-beat-beat slowly soothed his frayed nerves.
Seto gathered the blanket around the blonde puppy; the whimper had reminded him of a kicked puppy. If Wheeler had been crying for as long as Yugi said, Seto knew the blonde was experiencing a lot of pain. Crying for a long period of time could lead to migraines, stinging eyes, nasal problems, and pains in the body.
“Joey?”The blonde’s head shifted but he kept it resting on Seto’s chest. Seto quietly called his name again.“Joey? Can you hear me?” Seto asked. He felt the head shift up and down for a moment.“Do you know who I am?” Seto asked.Joey seemed to hesitate before slowly nodding his head. It seemed his mind wasn’t as foggy as the CEO thought.“Good. Then you listen. None of this is your fault and I am not mad at you. I’m mad, but that anger is not directed at you. I didn’t realize what day it was until I got the card. Yugi explained that it was meant for Yami, not me.”Yes. Joey remembered now. He had helped Yugi pick out the card. Gods. He couldn’t believe how low his ex-friends would go.“We’re going to go out when you’re feeling better. In the meantime, I’m going to help you get better, puppy. But first, I’m going to call my doctor and have him take a look at your wrists.”At first, Seto didn’t get a response. Then he heard a small sniffle and a quiet voice.“ ‘m not a puppy,” Joey mumbled.Seto chuckled, jostling Joey’s head a little.“You are a puppy. My puppy.” Pause. “If you want to be.”Joey smiled with another smaller sniffle.“ ‘m a puppy.””/……/
Joey had been relieved to find that Kaiba’s private doctor was the very same who had taken care of him in the hospital. Joey came a little bit out of his shell but he refused to move away from Seto. That was fine with both the doctor and Seto. The CEO had moved Joey down off his lap to sit between his legs with a loose arm around his waist.
The doctor prescribed some eye drops for him to put in his eyes every few hours. The doctor showed both Yugi and Seto how to help Joey put the drops in. The doctor instructed Joey to eat some light food to help with his stomach pain and try a semi-full meal tomorrow. The man had been concerned about Joey’s wrists. The skin was raw and blistering; parts of it were open again and bleeding. The doctor sent Yugi and Joey into the bathroom to gently wash Joey’s wrists. Once they were out of the room, the doctor rounded around on the CEO with an accusing glare. Seto glared back.“I would never. His “friends” did this. And if you’ll excuse me,” Seto said, standing. “I need to make a phone call.”Seto stepped over to the window with his phone to his ear. The doctor knew Seto was capable of doing such damage, but that he wouldn’t do such a thing after helping Joey so long ago. He felt a small twinge of guilt for thinking of accusing Seto, but he had had to be sure. When Joey came back into the room, his gaze immediately snapped over to the brunette. The doctor noticed some of the tenseness left his body when he saw the other teen was still in the room.He had him sit back down on the couch where he carefully disinfected the wrists and wrapped them. He gave Joey something to put on his wrists daily and to call him if things got worse. As the doctor was packing up and Yugi helped him, Seto hung up his phone. He came back over to sit beside the blonde. The brunette was whispering quietly in his ear while Joey rubbed at his eyes. The doctor started to say something about that, but Seto beat him to it by snagging his hand gently and pulling it down.Yugi showed him out. When he turned around, he was surprised to find Joey and Seto standing at the base of the stairs. Joey came over and hugged him before slipping out the door. A very confused Yugi stared at Seto as he walked over.“Wheeler’s going to come home with me. We’ll see you tomorrow,” Seto told him.Yugi smiled. He was happy to hear Kaiba would be coming tomorrow, too.“Don’t let Joey sleep in too late, Kaiba.”Seto snorted. “I won’t, Motou.”/……/
Once home, the two males settled down into bed, but it wasn’t to sleep. Joey closed his eyes with a groan as Seto showered his body with attention. Joey knew the brunette was making up for the mass confusion that led him to heartbreak yet he didn’t care. It turns out the CEO was full of surprises; every stroke or kiss across his skin brought a new set of tingles up Joey’s spine.
Seto was thorough in his exploration of the blonde’s body. He was careful with the wrists and tried not to overload his new puppy with too much pleasure. They had big plans for tomorrow and they did need to relax for the afternoon & evening. Joey whimpered as he felt a hot, wet tongue lap over a sensitive spot between his genitals and anus. He was so lost in pleasure he couldn’t even manage words; only whimper, moan, and murmur nonsense. He cried out when his hard member was suddenly enclosed in a hot, wet cavern. Everything went white and he felt himself explode. He felt so numb yet he could still feel the hot mouth sucking down his seed and hands running over his quivering thighs. The exhausted blonde felt his member go soft and the mouth pull of it before the other male’s body slid up his. At the touch of lips to his, Joey opened his mouth and accepted the invading tongue that deposited part of the substance into his mouth. It was a slightly bitter taste, but Joey didn’t mind. Joey put up a little fight before submitting to his new lover. Seto brought a hand up to Joey’s jaw and cheek to push his head back, allowing the kiss to deepen further. He kissed his blonde puppy until they needed to break away to breathe. Seto kept his body just above his lover’s as he raked a hand through soft blonde hair. He could see Joey was fighting to stay awake. As much as he wanted to play some more, Joey’s needs came first.Seto rolled his thumbs down over Joey’s eyelids, forcing them to close.“Go to sleep, pup. I’ll wake you up for dinner.”Joey let his eyelids stay closed and drifted off as he felt Seto lay down with his arms wrapped around him./……/
The event was a big success. Yugi laughed as a petite ten year old brushed a red stripe of paint down his nose. He retaliated by picking up a bucket of blue paint and dousing the kid’s front. The kid ran off, laughing his head off. Yugi glanced around for Joey and found him easily by his loud, familiar laugh.
Joey was over at a large wall with Seto. A bunch of kids of various ages were around them. Seto wasn’t dressed in his customary trench coat and he had a child sitting on his shoulders. This made it very tough to recognize the brunette with his back turned. Yugi continued look around and gasped when he spotted Duke and Tristan. They were heading straight for the two lovers.Duke slammed to an emergency stop when Yugi suddenly darted in front of him. Tristan stopped next to him. They both had pissed looks on their faces and Duke held a blue paper in his hand.“Get out of the way, Yugi. This is between us and Joey,” Duke told him.Yugi held up his arms and shook his head.“Don’t do it, Duke. You’ll only end up worse off. Just turn around and walk away,” Yugi said. The two teens ignored him in favor of approaching Joey. They were only a few feet away when Joey partially turned and spotted them. They were shocked when Joey ducked beside the guy beside him, partially shielding himself.“Joey!” Tristan shouted. If Duke didn’t know any better, he’d say the taller male had pulled Joey further in front of him. He wasn’t sure if Joey or the unknown male spoke, but suddenly the kids all cheered. A few latched onto Joey’s arms and pulled him along in the direction of a food cart. They turned their gazes from the male to Joey. Doing this meant they missed Seto turning around and lifting his arms up to bring the small child off his shoulders.“Duke, Duke, Duke!”Duke’s head snapped down as a little girl attached herself to his front. Unsure of what to do, he reached down and patted her on the back of the head.“Duke, you’re my favorite duelist! Mr. Kaiba said you’d show up and here you are.”Tristan’s mouth dropped open as his eyes landed on a smirking Seto. He walked up to the two with a knowing smirk on his face. But it turned into a softer smile when Seto looked down at the child.“Hannah, why don’t you go eat lunch with the others?” Seto asked. The little girl looked over her shoulder at him and nodded her head. She unlatched her arms from around Duke in favor of running off to the group of children.“I suppose we have you to thank for this,” Duke said, holding up the blue paper.Seto chuckled as he stuck his hands in his jean pockets.“You should be grateful it’s only a restraining order. Personally, I wanted to sue you for every penny you both aren’t worth. Sadly, Joey wasn’t quite keen to that idea,” Seto replied.“Hold the phone. Joey wasn’t pulling our leg? You two really were going out the other night?!” Tristan exclaimed.Yugi came into view as he came around them to stand closer to Kaiba.“I tried to warn you,” Yugi told them.“Yugi! Kaiba’s got a restraining order on us. I can’t go near my best friend!” Tristan exclaimed.Seto snorted.“If last night is evident of that, then I’d love to see how you treat a person you hate,” Seto said.Duke wisely chose to stay quiet as he stared out across the way at Joey. Unlike Tristan, he had taken notice of the bandages around Joey’s wrists. They had made a mistake. Joey was under Kaiba’s protection…willingly. Kaiba didn’t have to twist their words and twist Joey’s mind against them. They had already done that themselves. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
