“How are you feeling?” the vision of Yuugi asked Bakura the next evening. He could sense Bakura’s apprehension and anger through the ring while he had been resting that previous evening. Bakura seemed like he had needed a few moments before he was able to talk things out with him and so Yuugi gave him that space.
Bakura shook his head as he was going over his plans to get into the basement of Kaiba Corp. He wasn’t trying to be colder to Yuugi, but more than anything he wanted this to work. After another plan seemed to fail, he fell back on his bed and groaned in frustration. “I know I can get in there, but it is how to get to you without Atem being able to get in there until I get your soul back into your body.” he said finally confessing what was wrong to his trapped lover.
Yuugi hummed. “I can see where that would be the problem. Unlike the others, Atem definitely has shadow magic and I’m not one to put our actual allies in danger. On the other hand, you may have to endanger one of them or…”
A knock was heard on the door to Bakura’s apartment and they both looked at the door with worried looks on their faces. Yuugi frowned as did Bakura since he wasn’t expecting any company. As he got up and moved towards the door, he heard another strong knock and then an envelope was slipped underneath the door, before hurried footsteps seemed to run away from the entrance.
Cautiously, Bakura approached the letter, but in finding nothing suspicious about it, he brought it back to his room. When he opened the letter, several papers fell out of it, and Bakura blinked looking at the pictures of Kaiba Corp., and what looked to be a darkened drawing with a hole in part of a dome. The picture only had a few words on it that said: Go in through here.
“What?” he asked confused and then picked up the letter that was with it. “What does it mean go in through here?”
Yuugi looked over his shoulder and studied the picture as well. It took him a few minutes before he finally just smiled and nodded his head. “It’s the weakest point of the shadow magic. In other words, if you slip in through here, then you will probably have an extra five to ten minutes before that self-righteous piece of crap tries to stop you.”
Bakura looked at it again and agreed. He had been more than sure of being able to get this all done in the proper amount of time a couple days ago, but after Ryo reported to him that Atem had definitely set a trap just in case, he was worried about it. “Who do you think sent this?” he asked as he picked up the letter. There were no formal introductions or closings and it simply said ‘please, do this, and be happy again’.
“Malik…” Yuugi said and Bakura noticed the softer, and yet sad expression on Yuugi’s face. Yuugi noticed and shook his head to assuage Bakura’s thoughts. “I don’t think anyone should have to put up with Atem. I dealt with him for years. He went from challenging people and essentially killing them to playing duel monsters. I can only imagine what havoc he is wrecking on Malik’s poor mind. Malik was never one of our enemies.”
“Yeah I can remember.” Bakura said with a thin flush of pink on his cheeks.
A laugh came from Yuugi. “I’m sure you do.” he said and then looked at the other pictures Bakura had spread out. “It seems he got you as much information as he could without Atem realizing that he did. Do you think this will help you with your planning?” he asked.
A swift nod came from Bakura and he finally seemed a bit more at ease than he had the previous day. He felt Yuugi disappear, probably to rest up for what would be happening. Tomorrow, he would have Yuugi back and then they’d plan their revenge or he’d help Yuugi get their revenge. After all, he was pretty sure that Yuugi had managed to come up with an entire plan on how he wanted to get his revenge on all of them. He would’ve asked if it included murder, but considering that even his mild mannered hikari seemed to be calling for blood, he could only imagine that a hikari trapped in darkness would be calling for blood as well.
