The Heat is On (con’t)
            After a long, hot, grueling walk, Malik found himself very exhausted as he stepped into
the empty house.
“Guess the party’s over.” he mused as he walked through the disarray created the night before.
After making his way through the mess of tipped over chairs, broken glass and miscellaneous
garbage; Malik found the kitchen. He was feeling very dehydrated after his long walk back to
Ryou’s. He found a dirty glass amongst the beer cans on the counter by the sink and rinsed it
out. He swatted away a swarm of fruit flies that hovered over the drain.
“Well this is just lovely.” he muttered as he filled the glass with water.
After guzzling the entire glass of water in a single breath, Malik moseyed over to the refrigerator
in search of something to eat. He noticed a note stuck to the door with a magnet and took a
closer look.
Dear Malik, Marik or whoever you are today,
Where did you go?
Your sister is in labor, so get your butt down to the hospital if you read this.

Yugi and Ryou
Malik crossed his arms and grunted as he finished reading.
“Hmph. Like I care.”
He stormed out of the kitchen without even bothering to look for something to eat. Malik went
directly upstairs and into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. He gazed into his own
bloodshot amethyst orbs staring back at him. He made a sour face at his disheveled reflection.
He could hear the sound of his yami’s laughter resonating through his mind.
“What the hell are you laughing at?” Malik growled venomously.
//What do you think I’m laughing at?// Marik snickered back.
Malik wasn’t amused by Marik’s sarcasm. He could see how bad he looked, and he didn’t
appreciate Marik rubbing it in.
“You’re an ass.” Malik retorted sharply as he wetted a washcloth under the tap.
//I’m an ass? Why-thank you hikari! I feel so special.//
Malik scrubbed the dirt off his face and threw the washcloth down.
“Would you please shut up? I feel like shit and it’s all your fault. What the hell went on last
night? Why’d I wake up halfway across town in somebody’s backyard?”
Marik just laughed evilly in response.
“Quit being a fuckhead, yami! Why can’t you ever give me straight answer?”
//Well isn’t this special, my hikari thinks he's tough by throwing insults at me. Why don’t you join me in my soul room and I’ll give it to you straight,
you mouthy little fuck!//
“You don’t scare me.” Malik hissed back.
Malik glared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror one last time as he felt Marik yanking him
into his soul room.

“There’s no easy way of telling you this Mr. Kaiba.” Dr. Granger sighed.
Seto clenched his fists and slammed them down hard on the doctor’s desk.
“Just say it for god’s sake! I need to know what happened to Mokuba!”
The doctor nodded his head and took a deep breath.
“You’re brother was sexuallyaultaulted, Mr. Kaiba......”
Seto’s face filled with anger as he stood up and cut the doctor off from completing his sentence.
“Somebody raped my little brother! Whoever did this is going to pay dearly! Nobody fucks with
a Kaiba!”
The doctor stood up and put his hand on Seto’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Kaiba.”
Seto pulled away from the doctor’s hand and turned around.
“Thank you for this information. Promise me that Mokuba will be administered the best care
possible. Money is no object. I have some “business” to attend too.”
            Seto quickly walked out of Dr. Granger’s office and stormed down to the waiting room
in the main lobby where Joey was waiting. He sat down next to his blonde companion and
buried his face in his hands.
Joey could see Seto was visibly shook up over Mokuba. He felt compassion for Seto, so he put
his arm around him.
“It’s bad, isn’t it?”
Seto nodded his head.
“Yes, Wheeler. Mokuba was raped.”
Joey made a sour face.
“That’s awful! How’s the squirt taking it?”
Seto sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair.
“He’ll be fine. After all, he is a Kaiba. I can’t say the same for whoever did this to him though!”
Joey patted Seto’s arm and nodded sharply.
“I’ll knock their lights out if I get my hands on them! What kind of person is twisted enough to
do something like this to a 17-year-old kid anyway? Have you heard anything back yet from your
goons?”
Seto shook his head.
“Nothing yet, but I’m sure they’ll get to the bottom of this. I have my own hunch as to who could
have done this though. After I get cleaned up I plan on paying them a little visit.”
Joey jumped up and slammed his fist into the palm of his other hand.
“You ain’t goin’ alone, man! I’ll blast the fuckhead that did this to Mokuba all the way to
kingdom-come!”
Seto got to his feet and put his hands on Joey’s shoulders.
“Settle down, firecracker! We can’t just go around bashing in faces without proof. I’ll go alone, I
need you to stay here and make sure Mokuba is well taken care of, alright?”
Joey didn’t seem too excited about letting Seto go alone, but he agreed to Seto’s instructions.
“Fine, but I want a piece of whoever did this to Mokuba. It really pisses me when people pull
this kind of shit!”
Seto couldn’t help but smile at Joey’s adamance. He brushed a stray lock Joey’s hair out of his
eyes and brought him into a deep kiss.
“Thank you for caring, Wheeler. I appreciate this.”
            Even though Joey wasn’t family, Seto managed to talk the doctor into allowing him to
stay with Mokuba. It wasn’t like he gave him much of an option though. Seto threatened to stop
making his handsome yearly charitable donation to the hospital if they objected. He also threw in
the words “and you’ll never work in this country again” to emphasize his point.
            As Seto was leaving the hospital, he bumped into Mai and Duke. They were carrying
bags of fast food and sucking on chocolate milkshakes.
“Hey Kaiba.” Duke nodded as he brushed passed the CEO.
Seto stopped and turned around.
“Wait, why are the two of you here? Has word gotten around about my brother that fast
already?”
Duke stopped and turned around.
“Huh? What about your brother? We’re here because Isis went into labor last night.”
Seto seemed surprised and relieved at the same time. He looked at Duke with curiosity.
“She did? How is she doing?”
Duke took a deep breath and sighed.
“We can’t say for sure at this point. She wasn’t suppose to have this kid for a couple weeks yet.”
Seto nodded his head sharply and turned back toward the exit.
“I see....well, I hope everything turns out for the best. Good day.”
Duke laughed to himself as he walked into the waiting room and sat down.
“That was definitely weird.” he mused as he snarfed one of Mai’s french fries.
Mai slapped his hand away from her food and cocked her head.
“Why was Kaiba here?”
Duke shrugged his shoulders as he discretely tried to sneak another fry.
“Something about his brother. I didn’t ask, I knew he wouldn’t tell me anyway.”
Just as Mai went to slap away Duke’s hand again, Yugi and Ryou burst through the front doors
of the hospital.
“We got here as soon as we could! How’s Isis?” Yugi panted as he entered the waiting room.
Duke nervously began to twirl his raven hair around his finger.
“It’s hard to say at this point, Yugi. The doctors are doing all they can.”
Ryou looked around the room curiously as he took a seat in one of the chairs near Mai.
“Hey, where is the father-to-be? Is he up there with her?”
Mai shot Duke an evil look before looking at Ryou.
“The father-to-be is sitting next to me.” she hissed venomously.
Yugi and Ryou both were thrown back in their chairs after Mai’s remark.
“Duke’s the father? I thought it was Tristan!” Yugi exclaimed.
Mai glared at Duke as he snuck a drink of her chocolate milkshake.
“So did I....”

            Serenity cautiously approached the door to Tristan’s house and pressed the door bell. She
waited a minute before she did it again. Tristan wasn’t answering the door, but she knew he was
there. His motorcycle was parked in the driveway and the engine was still warm. Serenity
cautiously opened the unlocked door and looked around the house.
“Tristan? Are you here?” she called out as she stepped inside.
She heard a lot of noise coming from the second level of the house and decided to investigate
it’s origin.
She cautiously walked up the stairs leading up and followed the noises to a closed door.
She knocked softly, not really sure what to expect.
Seconds later, the door flung open.
“WHAT!” Tristan snarled sharply.
Serenity took a few steps back as his furious gaze locked with her eyes.
“I-I’m sorry. I just came to see if you were alright. I saw you leave the party last night, and you
looked pretty upset.”
Tristan’s rage softened when he realized it was only Serenity. He took a deep breath and
extended his hand to her.
“I’m sorry Serenity. Things are really messed up for me right now. I wasn’t expecting it to be
you at the door.”
Serenity took hold of Duke’s hand and smiled.
“It’s okay, I understand. We’re all worried about Mokuba.”
Tristan pulled Serenity into an embrace and held her close.
“What happened to Mokuba?”
Serenity sighed as she rested her head on his strong shoulder.
“He was abducted last night. Tea called me and told me that they found him, but he was pretty
badly beat up. I thought you knew?”
Tristan shook his head and he pulled Serenity into the room with him.
“No, I didn’t know that. I was too distraught last night to pay attention to anything.”
Serenity looked up at Tristan compassionately.
“Want to talk about it?”
Tristan groaned as he lead Serenity over to the bed. He shoved a pile of suitcases off of the bed
and sat down with her.
“Yeah......I could really use a friend right now.”
Serenity smiled at him and nodded.
“You’ve been there for me, and now I’m here for you. What’s the matter?”
Tristan flopped back onto the bed and groaned.
“Isis and I broke up. I found out the baby she’s carrying isn’t mine. She told me last night that
it’s actually Duke’s. I don’t know what to think right now.”
Serenity laid back and rolled over onto her side facing Tristan. She propped her cheek up with
her hand and nodded.
“Wow, that’s pretty nuts! So she was lying to you this whole time?”
Tristan nodded his head.
“Yeah, little bitch.......I’ve been working my ass off to make her happy and this is what she gives
me in return. I was actually looking forward to being a dad.”
Serenity smiled at Tristan as she reached over and traced his jaw line with her fingertips.
“You’ll make a great father someday Tristan, Isis isn’t good enough for you anyway. She
doesn’t deserve a great, honest, loyal guy like you.”
Tristan chuckled as he reached up and took Serenity’s hand. He pressed a soft kiss against her
knuckles and smiled.
“I wish that was true, but I haven’t been completely honest with Isis either. I never told her about
you and I......you know. I kinda had a little thing going on with Duke last night at the party too.
I’m just as bad as Isis.”
Serenity smiled sweetly and shook her head.
“But that was recently. Isis obviously was sleeping around on you for a lot longer.”
Tristan bit down on his bottom lip as he gazed into Serenity’s eyes.
“Serenity?”
“Yes Tristan?” the brunette replied softly.
Tristan reached over and brushed his thumb gently across her bottom lip.
“Can I ask you something?”
Serenity nodded her head.
“Sure, what is it Tristan?”

I really love the feedback from you all, it helps me get my butt in gear and write more! *grin*
Thanks for sending over the servants to clean my chaos-oops, I mean house. I managed to find
the floor again in my bed bedroom! Now I need to find the kitchen table.......LOL.
I should be coming out with the next update by Friday. Seto’s going to pay a visit to a certain
somebody and scream at them until their ears bleed, and there’s also going to be a soul room
lemon between Marik and Malik;-) I’ll also try to respond to a few reviews....
