Deus Ex Mechina (con’t)
            The sky was growing dark as Malik and Ryou rode Malik’s motorcycle down the open
road. Ryou clung tightly to Malik as they rounded a particularly sharp curve. The wind was
blowing through their hair, providing them with just enough of a breeze to cool them off from
the sweltering heat. Streaks of lightning flashed through the sky in the distance, followed by
ominous growls of thunder.
“Malik! Shouldn’t we get going back? The weather looks like it’s taking a turn for the worst!”
Ryou yelled over the loud rumble of Malik’s motorcycle.
Malik shook his head and kept his eyes on the road.
“In a bit, I want to show you something first!” he yelled in reply.
Malik slowed down and turned off onto a gravel road that lead into the woods. The road wasn’t
even much of a road, it was more like a trail that looked like it lead to nowhere. The woods was
dark and still.
Malik leaned back against Ryou and spoke into his fair-haired cohorts ear.
“Almost there” he said with a big grin.
Ryou nodded his head and inhaled the fresh scent of Malik’s hair. He noticed something that
seemed to be sparkling in the distance. It sparked his curiosity, but he didn’t ask as to what it
might be. As they got closer, Ryou realized it was a small lake.
Malik parked his motorcycle a few feet from shore and looked back at Ryou.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” he grinned as he shut off the engine.
Ryou looked around and nodded. Indeed, the lake was very beautiful. The crystal blue waters
acted as a mirror; reflecting the lush foliage surrounding them. The woods was completely silent
aside from the sound of Malik’s breathing. It was an eerie silence, like the calm before the
storm.
Malik slid off the seat of his motorcycle and walked up to the shore. Ryou followed close behind
him.
Malik leaned over and picked up a small, smooth, flat stone and threw it out at the lake. It
skipped six times before finally sinking into the depths of the tranquil lake.
“Wow, that was cool. I’ve never seen anybody do that before. ” Ryou laughed as the small waves
created by the stone slowly disappeared.
Malik turned around and wrapped his arms around Ryou’s waist, pressing their hips together.
“Rishid taught me how to skip stones back in Egypt. There was a small oasis that he used to take
me to when I was feeling down.”
Ryou draped his arms around Malik’s shoulders and tilted his head.
“Do you miss Egypt?”
Malik sighed as he looked down at his shoes.
“Yeah, a little. I don’t miss being stuck in the pharaoh’s tomb, but I do miss a few things.”
Ryou reached up and ran his fingers through Malik’s tousled creamy blond hair.
“Let’s sit down.”
Ryou and Malik found a nice grassy area under a tree to seat themselves. Ryou sat with his back
against the trof tof the tree. He pulled Malik down and sat him between his legs facing towards
the lake. He wrapped his arms protectively around his lover and pulled him against his chest.
“Now tell me Malik, what do you miss about Egypt?”
Malik sighed as he relaxed into Ryou’s arms.
“Well........I miss the watching the sunset over the Sahara. The sunsets here are nothing like the
ones back home.”
Ryou nodded his head slightly.
“I know, my father told me all about the Egyptian sunsets. I’d like to see one for myself
someday.”
Malik raised his eyes to the sky and sighed again.
“I also miss the stars. Here in Domino you can’t see them for shit. The city lights screw it all up.
Back home you could see billions of stars twinkling in the heavens every night. I used to lay out
until the early hours of the morning just looking up at them.”
Ryou chuckled as he held Malik tightly against his body.
“You’re lucky if you can see the moon through all the smog here”
Malik bit his lip and nodded as he gazed at the motionless lake.
“Yeah”
Ryou leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss on the nape of Malik’s neck.
“We’ll go to Egypt someday, Malik. Just you and I; I promise.”
Malik moaned lightly as Ryou nipped lightly at his earlobe.
“Mmm....I’d like that, Ryou. I’d like that a lot.”
Malik tilted his head back to allow Ryou more room to continue what he was doing. Malik’s
breathing grew more heavy as Ryou brought their lips together.
Malik closed his eyes and Ryou laid him on his back and crawled on top of him.
“I love you Malik, I want to make you happy.”
Malik ran his hands down Ryou’s back and smiled.
“I never thought I could feel this way about anybody. You’ve helped me realize that there is a
such thing as real love. Thank you Ryou, thank you for loving me.”
Ryou and Malik slowly removed each others clothing. The air was still, and the sound of the
thunder grew closer. Neither of them noticed the weather though. Ryou ground his hips against
Malik’s, stimulating both their bodies.
Malik moaned under Ryou’s passion.
“Make love to me Ryou......please......I need to feel your love.”
Ryou chuckled lightly as he nipped at Malik’s perky left nipple.
“Is that a request or and order?”
Malik reached up and gripped firmly onto Ryou’s bare shoulders.
“Just fuck me!” he snarled with a grin.
Ryou laughed as he sat up and positioned himself between Malik’s legs.
“It would be a pleasure.”
Ryou licked his finger before slowly inserting it into Malik tight rear entrance.
Malik whimpered from the initial pain, but Ryou’s intrusion soon became more pleasurable.
After Ryou had prepped Malik, he turned him over and told him to get on his hands and knees.
He positioned himself behind Malik and ran his hand lightly down Malik’s spine. Malik threw
his head back and moaned from Ryou’s touch.
“Ready?” he ask before he went any further.
“M’hm” Malik moaned.
Ryou gripped onto Malik’s hip with one hand to steady himself as he slowly pressed himself into
his lover.
Malik cried out as Ryou’s length slipped deep within him, hitting that special spot.
“Oh gods.......yes!” Malik exclaimed as shockwaves of pleasure shot through his entire body.
Ryou slowly began to move within Malik. Sweat dripped from the ends of Ryou’s hair and down
onto Malik’s back as they moved in rhythm with each other’s bodies.
Malik grunted with Ryou’s every thrust. His body shook with desire as Ryou reached around and
started stroking his arousal.
“So tight.......so good......love you......Malik.” Ryou panted intermittently as he shared himself
with Malik.
Malik thrust himself backwards into Ryou’s movements, causing Ryou to plunge deep into his
tight heat.
“Love .......you.......too.....Ryou Bakura.”
            Malik and Ryou made love in the grass in front of the lake until their bodies gave into
simultaneous release. Their orgasmic screams of passion echoed through the woods as they
collapsed from exhaustion.
The pending storm was nearly overhead now, and they knew they only had a short time before
the rain would hit.
They quickly pulled on their clothes and gave each other a kiss before getting back on Malik’s
motorcycle and hitting the open road again.
The air was so thick that the Millennium Rod could have cut through it. The dark sky was
repeatedly lit up with menacing lightning. Malik pressed the accelerator down as far as it would
go, and sped back towards Ryou’s house.

Tristan stood in front of the bay window looking out at the dark skies. He shook his head as he
turned to Duke with worried eyes.
“Wow, it looks like we’re going to get pounded tonight. I should probably go outside and put
something things that could blow away in the garage.”
Duke got up off the couch and nodded.
“I’ll help, it does look pretty bad out there.”
            Duke and Tristan quickly brought their motorcycles into the garage, along with a couple
of Isis’s big flower pots and some of her goofy lawn ornaments. Tristan pulled two lawn chairs
down that were hanging on the wall of the garage and handed them to Duke.
“Here, set these up. We can watch the storm pass through from the garage. I’m gonna go inside
and grab us a few beers.”
Duke nodded his head.
“Sure, sounds cool.”
Minutes later Tristan returned carrying a small blue cooler.
He sat down in the lawn chair next to Duke and handed him a beer.
Duke thanked Tristan and opened his beer.
Tristan smiled back at him.
“No prob, man.”
            The two of them kicked back and enjoyed their beers as the storm moved closer. A
very light breeze began to blow, cooling the warm night air off slightly. Tristan reached over and
put his hand on Duke’s thigh. Duke smiled and rested his hand on top of Tristan’s.
“Thanks for coming over, dude.” Tristan nodded.
Duke took a sip of his beer and nodded back.
“I’m glad I did. I was scared you wouldn’t talk to me after hearing about.....well, you know, Isis
and me.”
Tristan rolled his eyes and laughed.
“Isis? Isis who?”
Duke chuckled lightly as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
“I honestly don’t remember sleeping with her, in fact, I don’t even think I was in town when she
got knocked up. I’ve been thinking about it, and 8 months ago I was in Acapulco on vacation.
Seriously Tris, I think Isis is lying.”
Tristan cocked his head.
“Hmm....that’s odd. I wonder why she’d make something like this up?”
Duke shrugged his shoulders as he slipped a cigarette between his lips.
“I don’t know, man. It doesn’t add up.”
Tristan and Duke sat silently as they watched the lightning grow closer.
Suddenly, Duke jumped up and snapped his fingers.
“Wait a minute! Remember that video tape from the bar?”
Tristan nodded his head.
“Yeah, what about it?”
Duke started pacing back and forth, taking long drags off of his cigarette as he did so.
“I got the tape with me, I need to watch it again. I think I remember seeing Isis on it.”
Tristan crossed his arms and made a face.
“Really? Hmm......we’d better take a closer look.”
Duke walked over to his motorcycle and pulled the video tape out from the backpack that was
attached to the backrest.
The quickly went inside and popped it into the VCR.
The haunting images of the night replayed in front of them.
Aside from the usual drunken festivities, they saw themselves making out like horny idiots on
the bar.
“I don’t remember doing that.” Tristan snickered as he watched himself on the tape.
Duke shook his head.
“Me either......but I’m glad it happened.”
Tristan smiled at his raven hair cohort.
“Me too.”
Duke suddenly paused the tape and gasp.
“Look! There’s Isis! What the fuck, she’s with.....Yami??”
Tristan took a closer look at the video and stared in shock.
“You don’t think.......”
Duke shrugged his shoulders.
“I don’t know, maybe. It would make sense.”
Tristan sighed as he nodded his head in agreement.
“Yeah, I know. Isis always seemed to have a thing for him.”
Duke un-paused the tape and let it play again. Duke started to laugh when he saw Joey doing the
hula dance on the bar and Mako Tsunami stuffing dollars into Joey’s jeans.
“Fucken Wheeler, he’s such a goof.”
Tristan laughed along with Duke as they watched the tape play.
Toward the end of the video, things were making more sense to them. They were a bit surprised
when they saw Mako and Joey sneak out the back door together, but they dismissed it aurneurned
off the tape. The livingroom had grown very dark. The sun was now completely covered by dark,
ominous storm clouds. A loud roar of thunder made the windows rattle.
Tristan got to his feet and extended his hand to Duke.
“The storm is almost here, dude! Let’s get our asses back in the garage so we can watch it move
in!”
Duke reached up and took Tristan’s hand.
“Cool!” he grinned as he got to his feet.
Hand in hand, they hurried out to the garage and took their seats.
To their surprise, a red car pulled into the driveway just as with wind kicked up.
“Mako?” Duke questioned himself as his bartender hurried into the garage.
“Duke! I’ve been looking all over for you! I’m glad I finally found you before the storm hit!
You’re not going to believe this!” Mako exclaimed as he ducked into the garage out of the
weather.
“What is it?” Duke ask curiously.
Mako crouched down in front of Duke and Tristan and reached into his pocket. He pulled out an
envelope and handed it to Duke.
“It’s from my father! Can you believe it? He says he’s been living on an island in the south
Pacific! He had no way to contact me until a few weeks ago when a cruise ship made an
emergency stop! He’s in Hawaii now, and he wants me to move out there to be with him!”
Duke took the letter from Mako and looked it over.
He smiled and shook his head as he read the words.
“Wow Mako, this is awesome! You finally found him after all these years.”
Mako was grinning from ear to ear. He was obviously overjoyed.
“Well, he found me, but it doesn’t matter!”
Duke folded the letter and handed it back to Mako.
“I’m assuming this means I’m going to have to find a new bartender, eh?”
Mako bit his bottom lip and sighed.
“Yes, it does. I’m sorry to give you such a short notice, Duke. I must go be with my father
though, I miss him so much.”
Duke smiled and nodded his head.
“Don’t worry about it, Tsunami.” Duke glanced at Tristan with a grin, and than looked back at
Mako. “I’m sure I can find a replacement.”
Mako was so overjoyed that he threw his arms around Duke and bear-hugged him.
“Thank you Duke, from the bottom of my heart.”
Duke chuckled as he pried Mako off of him.
“You go be with your father. Just be sure to keep in touch.”
Mako smiled brightly as he got to his feet.
“Thanks Duke. I’ll see you around.”
Mako quickly ran back to his little red car and sped off.
Duke turned to Tristan with a catty grin.
“So Taylor, you looking for a side job by any chance?”

Joey stood looking out the hospital window at the approaching storm. He shifted around
nervously as the lightning spread across the sky.
“Damn, it looks like it’s gonna rock and roll and second, Kaiba.”
Seto got up from his seat next to Mokuba’s bed stood behind Joey. He wrapped his arms around
the blonde’s waist and rested his chin on his shoulder.
“Yes, it does. Are you scared, Wheeler?”
Joey shook his head adamantly and turned his face to Seto.
“Hell, no! Joey Wheeler ain’t scared of nothing!”
Seto chuckled and he stole a quick kiss.
“You realize you just used a double negative, meaning you ARE scared?”
Joey screwed up his face.
“Say what? What’s a double negative?”
Seto smoothed Joey’s hair with his hand and smiled.
“It’s nothing, Wheeler. Don’t worry about it.”
Joey stuck out his bottom lip and pouted.
“You’re picking me again, ain’t you?”
Seto bit bottom lip to stop himself from laughing at Joey’s street lingo. He knew Joey had grown
up on the streets because his father was too drunk to care, but he still found Joey’s use of
improper grammar quite amusing.
“Maybe a little.” Seto smiled as he pulled Joey back against his body.
Joey scrunched up his nose and sighed as he looked outside. A loud rumble of thunder resounded
from the darkening skies.
Joey relaxed back against Seto and smiled.
“Any leads on who assaulted Mokuba yet?”
Seto held tightly onto Joey and shook his head.
“Not yet.”
Before either of them could say another word, Yugi burst into the room with tears in his eyes. He
quickly ran up to Seto and tried to pull him off of Joey.
“Kaiba! Get your hands off my boyfriend!”
Seto and Joey were both in shock as Yugi clawed at Seto’s arm.
“Uh, Yugi? I’m not your boyfriend anymore. You dumped me, remember?”
Seto shoved Yugi away and stared at him with astonishment.
“What the hell’s gotten into you?” he stated flatly.
Yugi fell backward and landed on the floor. He covered his face with his hands and broke down
in tears.
“I still love you, Joey! Yami made me break up with you! I didn’t want to! I don’t care what
Yami says though, I need you!”
Joey looked up at Seto with confused eyes.
“But Yugi......I’m with Kaiba now, there’s no chance of us ever being together again.”
Yugi shook his head from side to side.
“NO! You’re wrong! You’re my boyfriend, and I’m not letting you go!”
Seto glared down at Yugi and clenched his fists tightly.
“Get out of my brother’s room, geek. Joey isn’t your property.”
Yugi got up and lunged forward at Seto in a fit of rage. He made a fist and pulled back.
Joey quickly got in the middle of them and caught Yugi’s punch.
“YUGI! Stop it, man! What the fuck is wrong with you? You lost your mind or something? You
dumped me, so I went on with my life. You need to do the same. It’s over between us.”
Tears gushed from Yugi’s violet eyes.
“No, it can’t be over! I love you! I can’t live without you! I’d kill for you Joey, I’ll do anything to
get you back!”
Joey let out a long, exasperated groan and gripped tightly onto Yugi’s shoulders.
“Dude, you need to get some mental help. You’ve gone crazy or something.”
Seto stepped back and crossed his arms.
“Sorry Yugi, but I need to ask you to leave.”
Joey looked down into Yugi’s tear filled eyes and sighed as he glanced over his shoulder at Seto.
“I’ll handle him, Kaiba. I’ll be right back.”
Seto nodded his head.
“Fine.”
Joey put his arm around Yugi and lead him into the hall.
“Yugi, I didn’t realize you still had feelings for me.”
Yugi reached his around Joey’s waist and clung to him like he was his life line.
“I never stopped loving you Joey, never! It was all Yami’s idea to break up with you, but now I
know why he did it. He’s the father of Isis’s baby, and he was trying to break us up so he could
go back to Egypt with her.”
Joey looked down and noticed the Millennium Puzzle wasn’t around Yugi’s neck as it usually
was. He took a deep breath and he wrapped his arms around Yugi.
“Where’s your Millennium Puzzle?”
“I took it apart when I learned Yami’s secret. The pieces are in Ryou’s garbage.” Yugi
whimpered as he held on to Joey.
Joey nodded his head.
“I see.....Yugi, you need to realize something. What we had ended the day you left me. Seto
helped me pick up the pieces oflifelife after you shattered my entire world. He and I have really
grown close, and I don’t want to leave him. I’m sorry if this sounds mean, but there’s no chance
for us anymore. I love Seto, and he loves me.”
Yugi squeezed his arms around Joey’s waist and broke down crying again.
“He can’t have you, you’re mine! I’ll kill him if I have to!”
Joey sensed that Yugi wasn’t talking like himself. It was apparent that his pain and sadness had
overcome him and drove him over the edge.
Suddenly, something profound popped into his head. He stiffened up and tried to pry Yugi off of
him.
“You’re the one that assaulted Mokuba!”
Yugi took a deep breath and continued to cling tightly to Joey.
“Yes, I did. I only did it to try to get you away from Kaiba though! I thought if I could distract
Kaiba’s attention from you, I could win you back.”
Joey forcefully shoved Yugi away and backed up. Yugi fell to the floor with a thud.
“I can’t believe you, Yugi! How could you do something so twisted! That’s not the Yugi I know!
You really lost your marbles! Damn! You’re worse than Marik and Bakura!”
Yugi bit his lip and sniffled as he got to his feet.
“I only did it to get you back........I love you Joey, I can’t live without you!”
Joey backed away and stared at Yugi in horror.
“You’re sick Yugi, you need help. Like Kaiba said, I’m not your property. You need to move on.
Damn!”
Yugi covered his face and continued to cry.
“I can’t.......I can’t.......”
Joey took a deep breath and paused as he collected his thoughts. He couldn’t believe what Yugi
had just told him. It wasn’t like Yugi to resort to violence in any situation, Joey knew something
must have snapped in his ex-boyfriend’s mind. He knew he had to get him some help.
“Yugi...I don’t know how to tell you this.....but, you really need to see a shrink. You’re all
fucked up in the head. Please Yugi, it hurts me to see you like this......please get some help.”
Yugi clenched his eyelids shut and swallowed hard.
“I just want you Joey.......I’ll do anything you want if it means we can be together.”
Joey let out a long sigh and crossed his arms.
“How about this: You check yourself into the hospital here and get yourself some help. Than
we’ll see where it goes from there, okay?”
Yugi looked down at the floor and nodded.
“If it helps me get you back, I’ll do it.”
Relief spread across Joey’s face as Yugi gave in to his request.
“Come on, man, I’ll help you check yourself in. Wait here a sec while I tell Kaiba where I’m
goin’.”
Yugi nodded his head as Joey peeked into Mokuba’s room. Seto was still standing by the
window watching the storm move in.
“I’ll be right back, I’ll tell you more when I’m done doing what I gotta do.” Joey smiled.
Seto nodded his head.
“Alright.......Hey Wheeler?”
Joey cocked his head.
“Yeah, Kaiba?”
Seto turned to Joey.
“I love you.”
Joey smiled brightly and winked.
“I love you too.”

Awe......Yugi went nuts. Poor guy! Don’t worry, the doctors put him on good drugs and he’ll be
back to his old self again. I wonder how Kaiba’s going to take the news that it was Yugi that hurt
Mokie though, hmm.....
I’ll be fixing up my typos during the day today, I promise.....LOL
The next chapter is the last one for this story, BUT!!!!
Yup, you guessed it! I already started writing the sequel. It’s called “Carved in Stone.” (I’m
pretty sure,LOL)
I’ll be posting it next week sometime. I’ll give you more details after the next chapter, along
with my responses to your awesome reviews:-)
Here’s a little kicker now- I’ll only post the last chapter if I see 200 reviews or more. Am I
meany or what?!? *evil grin* MARIK MADE ME DO IT!!!!!
