New Arrival: Seto Kaiba
Carrot and Aya exchanged glances as the girl laughed, the sound indicating she was bordering on hysteria. The masked man stared down at her impassively for a moment, before suddenly reaching up and lightly slapping her.
She immediately stopped laughing, blinking up at him in surprise. For an instant she looked angry, but then she sighed and said, “Thanks I needed that.”
The figure in black nodded in understanding and the girl gave him a small smile before slowly standing up. She glanced around the gigantic living room, tastefully decorated in a Roman style, with gold and white being the main colors present. She noted several loveseats, three couches, and a number of televisions. The place made her think of an upscale frat house.
She turned back to the men with a frown. “Where did the archer go?”
“He just disappeared in a flash of light,” Carrot replied, leering at her. “If you need company, babe, just ask. There’s no need to look for that archer. I’ve got something I could aim at you.”
Laurel reached up and rubbed her forehead, even as Larva rose to stand behind her. Aya glared at Carrot, but managed to keep from attacking him, just barely.
“Do you suppose you could refrain from using your limited thinking capacity to hit on her, and try using it to think of a way out of here instead,” the redhead snarled.
Carrot laughed and shook his head. “Nope, I was always the action guy in my group; I’ve never been much of a thinker.”
“Imagine that,” Aya muttered before returning his attention to Laurel and Larva. “How about you two? Any ideas?”
“Sorry, I don’t know where we are, who’s keeping us here, or how to get out,” Laurel said with an apologetic shrug.
“I know nothing,” Larva quietly added.
Now Aya was the one rubbing his forehead. “Perfect.”
“Hey, since we don’t have anything better to do, we should introduce ourselves, don’t you think pretty lady? I’m Carrot Glaze,” the womanizer announced.
Aya was about to snarl at him in irritation, when the girl cut him off. “I’m Laurel Grove.”
“Larva,” the giant behind her contributed. The other two men stared at him for a moment before quickly looking away.
Aya heaved a sigh and thought, What the hell? “Aya Fujimaya.”
“Well, that’s out of the way, now what,” Laurel mused.
“We wait for that archer to come back,” Carrot replied. When Laurel looked at him in surprise, he grinned and added, “He said he’d answer our questions in due time, and we have to sit and wait until all the players arrive, whatever that means.”
Laurel frowned and glanced at Aya, the assassin gave a terse nod indicating Carrot spoke the truth, though the God of Destruction had no reason to lie to her. “Did you happen to catch his name?”
“No,” Aya bit out, annoyed at having to admit to such an oversight.
Laurel shrugged. “So we’re supposed to sit around here and wait for more…arrivals. Did he say how long it would be before these people appeared?”
“No.”
She sighed in frustration and then marched over to the nearest couch. “Great. So we have to wait for an unknown number of people to arrive, for an undetermined amount of time, for an unclear reason. Marvelous. Where’s a remote?”
Carrot plopped down onto the couch beside her, his bare leg pressing against her own clothed one, making her very aware she was wearing his pants.
Aya stared at her incredulously. “You’re going to just sit there and watch TV?”
“What do you want me to do, go from room to room and try to find a way out?”
“That’s a thought,” Aya snapped, irritated by her acceptance of the situation, but also by how close Carrot was sitting next to her.
“Why don’t you and Larva search the place,” Laurel argued. “I’m not any good at investigative work.”
“I will not leave you alone with the boy,” Larva quietly announced, once again drawing everyone’s attention to him.
Aya had been thinking along similar lines, not sure if Laurel would be safe with the obviously sex crazed Carrot.
Carrot somehow managed to look offended. “Hey, I’m not going to attack her. That’s not my style.”
Aya and Larva exchanged looks that clearly said they doubted he was telling the truth.
Laurel frowned in irritation. “I’m a big girl; I can take care of myself.”
Larva crossed his arms over his chest, but it was Aya who pointed out, “Actually you’re pretty small, and he could easily overpower you.”
Carrot was visibly bristling by this time. “I don’t appreciate you guys talking about me as if I were some kind of violent pervert. I will admit I have a liking for the ladies, but I have never forced myself on one!”
Yeah, successfully, Laurel thought to herself. “See? I’ll be fine.”
“I hate to interrupt this touching little scene, but who are you people and where am I,” a new, cold voice demanded.
Laurel and the men immediately glanced over to one of the entrances to the living room, Aya drawing his sword even as he turned. There, standing with feet spread and shoulders back, was a tall young man. He was dressed in a white suit that was a striking contrast to his brown hair and dark blue eyes. His posture hinted at arrogance, as did the way he stared down his nose at them while he waited for an answer to his question.
“We have no idea where we are, and I’m Carrot Glaze, who are you?”
The newcomer arched an eyebrow at Carrot, taking in his disheveled appearance. “Do you always walk around in public without pants? Is that why they call you ‘Carrot’?”
The normally happy go lucky young man was already irritated from the way Larva and Aya had been treating him, so when the new arrival started making fun of him, his eyes narrowed dangerously and he started to rise off the couch. Laurel placed a hand on his arm, immediately drawing his attention to her as she ordered, “Sit.”
Carrot instantly relaxed back onto the couch, enjoying the feel of her small hand on his flesh. “Nah, that’s the name my mother gave me. As for my pants, well, the girl here is wearing them.”
The man’s eyebrow arched further if possible and he turned an amused look on Laurel. “You wear the pants in the relationship, hmm? Well, perhaps you have the answers to my questions then.”
Laurel shrugged and said, “He was telling the truth, we don’t know where we are. It seems we all went to sleep and woke up here.”
The man’s head tilted to one side as he studied her for a moment, his gaze flickering over the grim face of Aya and the eerie outline of Larva. His eyes lingered on Larva’s mask for a moment before returning to Laurel.
“That’s what happened to me as well. Are we being held for ransom?”
“I have no idea,” she replied.
“What about the rest of you, do any of you know what’s going on,” the young man demanded.
“No,” Aya snapped tersely, raising his sword in irritation.
“Damn,” the newcomer muttered. “I don’t have time for this! The company can’t run itself, and who knows what trouble Mokuba will get into while I’m away.”
No one said anything to that; obviously it was a rhetorical tirade. He looked up with narrowed eyes and said, “Well, since we’re stuck here together, I suppose I should find out who you are for future reference. I’m Seto Kaiba. And you are?”
“Laurel Grove. You already know Carrot. The guy with the sword is Aya Fujimaya, the other one is Larva.”
Seto glanced at Larva before quickly looking away. Behind his mask, Larva rolled his eyes. Mortals were so juvenile, his name wasn’t that odd.
“Has anyone contacted you since you arrived?”
“Yes, an archer showed up,” Carrot happily supplied, mellow beneath Laurel’s touch. “But then he left again.”
Seto wore a pained expression as he turned to Laurel, but she shrugged. “I didn’t get a chance to talk to him.”
“She fainted,” Carrot explained. Laurel slapped the back of his head and he winced but wisely stayed quiet.
Seto glanced over at Larva, but the tall figure remained silent, so he finally looked at the angry redhead. “Did you talk to him?”
“Briefly,” Aya admitted. “He refused to tell us anything, only that we were to wait here, there will be more people arriving.”
“How many?”
“We have no idea,” Carrot answered him with a grin. “Personally, I hope the rest of them are women. So far Laurel’s the only one here! And even though she’s hot, I like a bit of variety.”
Laurel had noticed that she was the only woman as well, but she thought nothing of it. Who knew why she was the only girl thus far? She considered herself to be lucky, having so many lovely men around for her to ogle. She wasn’t going to complain!
“Has anyone searched the house?”
“We were just getting ready to do that when you arrived,” Laurel said with a smile. “The guys were trying to figure out who would stay behind and keep me company.”
Seto eyed the grinning fool seated next to her and, now that he had actually talked to the young man, he understood the conversation they had been having when he arrived. The man looked as if he’d screw anything female, and this girl was certainly pretty enough to warrant the man’s attention. Seto wanted to explore the grounds himself, but it was obvious the other two men did not want to leave the girl with Carrot. He eyed them each in turn and decided he’d rather explore the area with Aya, who seemed more approachable despite his cold exterior.
“Simple. Have…Larva stay with you, and the rest of us can search the house.”
Aya looked relieved. Carrot looked as if he might protest. He shut his mouth when Larva immediately drifted to Laurel’s side.
“Fine with me,” Aya remarked. “Let’s go.”
He turned and left the room with quick strides. Seto blinked after him for a moment, and then said, “Come on, Carrot.”
Carrot leaped up from the couch, after giving Laurel a quick kiss on the cheek. “For luck,” he said with a wink as he bounded out of the room on the heels of Seto.
Laurel sighed and then glanced over at Larva, who had remained silent the entire time. “So tell me what you think of this entire mess, Larva. I have the feeling you know more about this then the rest of us do.”
The mask turned to her and after only a slight hesitation, he admitted, “I have no real proof, only my own conjectures.”
“Share them with me,” Laurel replied. “We have nothing else to do since I can’t find the remote.”
