“Yami, you've got a visitor."
Yami turned to his boss and nodded his head. He saved his work on the computer and closed down the program. He got up and headed toward the front. He smiled slightly when he saw Serenity standing in the waiting room.
"Hey." He stated as he hugged her.
"Hi." They both sat down in the chairs provided in the lobby.
"What brings you here?" Yami asked her after a minute of silence.
Serenity sighed, "Well, I felt awful about last night. That was totally uncalled for on my part. I should be trying to help you through this time. As a friend that is my job and I just wanted to say I’m sorry for the way I acted."
Yami smiled and shook his head, "Don't be. It's fine." Yami stated as he captured her in a hug.
"Listen," Yami started, "Mokuba is having a soccer game today at five, would you like to come? You do remember Mokuba don't you?"
Serenity smiled, "Yes, I do, and I would love to come. Thank you."
Yami stood up, "Great, so I'll pick you up around four-forty-five, O.K?"
Serenity nodded and gave Yami one more hug as she turned to leave.
Yami sighed as he walked back to his post.
"What was that?" A voice asked from behind.
Yami huffed as he answered, "A little making up between friends." Yami stated already knowing it was Bakura without turning around.
Bakura leant over and turned Yami around in his chair, "But you weren't making up with…," Bakura stopped when he remember that Yami didn't want to be reminded about his relationship, "I mean…you just invited her to the game."
Yami frowned when he caught what Bakura was doing, "You almost did it."
"I corrected myself." Bakura stated, as he stood straight up and folded his arms.
Yami sighed, "Why do you care if I invited her?"
"Because you can't just invite this girl on our hanging out day. Everyone will remember her and the huge crush she had on you and the huge crush you had on her." Bakura scolded.
"A long, long time ago." Yami stated as he turned back around to do his work.
Bakura sighed, "Yami I tried not to bring her up, but I have too. Zaire will think you've moved on and I know you are far from moving on."
Yami sighed as he looked at Bakura, "Bakura, I'm just inviting her as a friend, K? Please, stop trying to rule and control my relationships."
"Someone has to because you sure don't know how to keep them in order." Bakura stated out loud but to himself.
Yami growled, "Bakura."
Bakura waved his hand in the air, "Yeah, yeah. I'm going."
Bakura walked back to his desk and sat down. He sighed as he picked up the phone and dialed Lavie's number.
"Hello?" said the voice of his love.
Bakura smiled, "Hey, sexy."
"Bakura!" Lavie squealed, "You won't believe what just happened."
Bakura quirked an eyebrow, "What?"
Lavie laughed, "O.K, we were just shopping right, when all of a sudden guest who appears? Just think of the worst possible person."
"Anzu?" Bakura answered simply.
"Exactly. She comes over and starts saying stuff. All of a sudden there's a loud crack and she is landing hard on the ground." She continued.
Bakura smirked, "Did Miza break her jaw?"
"Nope. Zaire did."
Bakura's eyes widened, "Zaire?" he said with surprised.
Lavie laughed, "That's the same reaction we had, but that was nothing compared to what happened next."
"What happened?" Bakura pushed her to go on finding the conversation beyond interesting.
"She cursed her out. It was so hilarious. We’ve never heard or seen Zaire become so angry. We were mouth gaped. It was so unexpected, but so wonderful. Of course I put my little two cents in. I couldn't just leave her there without a parting gift." Lavie laughed.
Bakura shook his head and smirked, "You kicked her, didn't you?"
"Right in the ribs." She laughed.
Bakura sighed, "Well, that sounds exciting. Anyway I called you to let you know that Yami invited someone to go to the game with him."
"Is it bad?" Lavie asked settling down.
"Well, it's Serenity."
"SERENITY!" she yelled. "What the hell is she doing back here?" She asked calming down.
Bakura shrugged, "I don't know. Listen, I gotta get back to work I was just calling you to give you a heads up on that."
"Yeah, O.K. thanks."
"Bye." Bakura stated as he gave a kiss noise through the phone.
"Bye." Lavie said returning the noise and hanging up.
Bakura looked at he phone as the line went dead and place it back in the cradle.
He looked at the stacks of papers on his desk and groaned. He hated work.
^^^^^^^^^^
Lavie placed her phone back in her purse and went back over to her friends frowning.
"What's wrong?" Satire asked her.
Lavie rolled her eyes; "Stupid Yami invited Serenity to the game."
"Serenity? Isn't she that girl that Yami had a crush on before he fell for Zaire?" Satire asked as she pulled out a pair of shorts.
"Yeah." Lavie stated uninterested in the girl.
"Vie, what do you think?" Zaire asked from the changing room.
Lavie turned to Zaire and stared at the outfit she was wearing, "Hot." She stated as she put thumbs up.
Zaire smiled, "Great". She turned to the cashier and pulled off the tags giving them to the lady, "I'll wear it out."
The cashier nodded as she rung up the prices and took the money.
"Zaire?" asked a deep voice from behind.
Zaire turned and just about squealed with excitement, "Yusei!" she shouted as she hugged him jumping up and down, "What are you doing here?"
Yusei smiled a rich, knee quivering smile, "I came here with a couple of friends. Wow, you look…great." He said as he let his blue eyes trail down her body.
Zaire blushed, "Thank you."
Miza cleared her throat from behind Zaire and nudged her lightly.
Zaire turned smiling, "Oh, I'm sorry. Yusei these are my best friends Lavie, Miza, and Satire." she said as she pointed to each one.
"Nice to meet you." they each said, practically drooling.
"Same.” He replied.
Zaire turned back to him, "So how long are you here?"
Yusei sighed, "I'm not sure, but I hope I can spend as much time as I can with you." he smirked lustfully at her.
"Well, my friend's brother Mokuba has a game at five and I'm going. Would you like to join my friends and me? I'd love to introduce them to you."
Yusei nodded, "Sure, that sounds great."
"You don't have too, I wouldn't want to get in the way of any plans you had with your friends." Zaire stated.
Yusei shook his head, "Not at all. I could think of nothing better to do than to spend time with you."
Zaire laughed as she hugged him again, "Perfect."
Satire, Miza, and Lavie all looked at each other. They had a bad feeling about this. This Yusei guy was quite the looker. He had gorgeous royal blue eyes, he was muscular, and had spiked black hair with gold highlights in the front. He was definitely dreamy.
"Zaire, are you sure?" Miza asked her.
Zaire turned to her, "About what?"
"About inviting him. I mean…what about Yami?" she tried to reason.
Zaire frowned, "What about him?"
"Is Yami your boyfriend?" Yusei asked curiously.
Zaire shook her head, "No…I mean…its complicated at the moment…"
Yusei smiled, "Well no use trying to make sense of it right now." He whispered causing Zaire to blush slightly.
The other three girls sighed as they followed Zaire and the new boy out the store.
`Great,' thought Lavie, `first Yami with Serenity and now Zaire with this Yusei guy. How are they going to get back together if they are inviting other people to take the others place. Maybe…they have moved on.'
^^^^^^^^^^
"Long time no see, Serenity." Zaire smiled politely at her although inside it was tearing her up. Yami should be trying to win her back not pissing her off even more.
"You too." Serenity stated with a smile although inside she wanted to choke Zaire to death and scream to the world that Yami was hers.
"And you are?" Yami asked as he turned his attention to Zaire's guest.
"Yusei." The man stated as he held his hand out to Yami.
"Yami." Yami stated as he took the hand and shook it.
Yusei’s eyes widened, "Oh, you're Yami."
Yami narrowed his eyes, "Yeah, why? What you hear?"
Yusei shook his head, "Nothing. Your name was just mentioned."
Zaire grabbed Yusei by his arm and led him over to their seats. Not once acknowledging Yami’s presence.
Yami sighed, feeling his heart was break as he watched Zaire hang all over the guy laughing at his jokes. Where did this kid come from…he’d known Zaire for a very long time and never had he seen this guy before.
"Look there's Mokuba." Satire shouted as she saw her boyfriend's little brother come out onto the field.
"YEAH MOKUBA!" Lavie shouted waving as he looked up at her with frightened eyes of being humiliated.
Bakura pulled her down, "You know that embarrasses him."
"Sorry, jeez. Just trying to be supportive." She said with a sigh.
"I know. " Bakura stated as he kissed her.
"Ay, you two, save it for later." Miza said as she ate her hot dog.
The game was good and everything seemed to go well. There were no arguments or fights but that was probably because Yami and Zaire ignored each other for the whole game.
Once the game had ended, they took Mokuba out for a victory dinner in honor of his win.
Mokuba was mostly quiet as he stared at Yusei the whole time. He would answer questions directed toward him, but still stayed focus on the man who had his arm around the girl who he had come to see as his `sister'.
Seto treated Zaire like a sister; it was she who had introduced him to the love of his life after all. But even before than he just couldn't help but be protective of her like an older brother which made Mokuba her younger brother. He was also very protective of her.
"I think I'm gonna go." Yusei stated as he stood and placed his share of the money on the table.
Zaire looked up at him, "Are you sure?"
He nodded. "Well, I'll walk you to the car." She volunteered as she followed him to the car.
Mokuba watched as she left out with him before he asked, "Who was that?"
"Yusei." Miza sated confused at how he'd already forgotten.
Mokuba looked at her and rolled his eyes, "Not his name. His relation to Zaire."
"They're old friends." Satire answered for him.
"Then why was she all over him?" he asked.
"I guess they were close." Yami stated as he stood up.
Mokuba looked at him knowing he didn't like it.
"I think I'll take Serenity home." He said as he got out his seat and helped Serenity put her jacket on.
"But, Yami, you have to take Zaire home. What if she's not ready to go?" Satire asked.
Yami looked out the window, "I think she has a ride."
They looked out the window in time to see Zaire in the car with Yusei in the middle of a tongue duel. Once they parted Yusei took off down the street with Zaire still in the car.
Lavie stood up sharply, "No. This was not how today was apposed to go." She said frustrated.
Yami rolled his eyes, "Come on, Serenity." He stated as they headed toward his car.
They drove in silence. Serenity took glances over at Yami every now and then.
Yam had his elbow on the door and his head rested on his hand as he drove with the other. Not being able to take the silence he turned on the radio and the rest of the ride went just like that.
Once they got to her house, Yami turned the radio down and unlocked the doors never once looking at Serenity.
Serenity sighed and turned toward the door, but at a second thought she turned toward Yami, "Yami…"
"I don't want to talk about it, Serenity." Yami cut her off.
"Did it upset you?" she persisted.
Yami pushed a button allowing the door to open automatically.
Taking the hint Serenity sighed and leaned in toward Yami kissing him softly on the cheek, "Thank you for today." She stated before exiting the car and shutting it lightly.
Yami sighed as he watched her go into the house. Once she was inside he drove off.
^^^^^^^^^^
Yusei and Zaire were in the middle of another tongue duel as they sat outside his house. Yusei pushed Zaire against the door as he explored her body with his hands.
Zaire moaned as he began to grind into her causing an amazing friction between their bodies. She began to unbutton his shirt caressing his chest in the process.
Yusei grabbed the front of her blouse and ripped it opened as he put his hands in the shirt reaching around the back to undo her bra as they continued to kiss.
They were both startled from their activities as a loud bang was sounded upon the window.
They both sat up and looked out the window to see what had caused the intrusion.
A girl about the same age as them with blonde hair and orange eyes was staring angrily at Yusei with her hands on her hips.
Zaire looked at Yusei breathing heavily, "Who's that?" she asked gesturing toward the girl.
Yusei looked at her but turned his attention to the girl as she started to yell at him through the car.
"I can't believe you're cheating on me, you lying SOB!"
Zaire looked at Yusei her eyes widening, "That's your girlfriend?" she asked.
Yusei shook his head, "Listen, I can explain."
Zaire huffed as she opened the door and got out the car, "I apologize. I hadn't known." She said to the girl who simply shook her head.
"I'm not mad at you. It's that bastard right there that's gonna get it." She said as she went around the car where Yusei had got out and was currently calling Zaire to come back.
Zaire shook her head and started to walk. She held her blouse close as she walked due to the buttons being ripped off. She was so angry with herself for her stupidity. She just really wanted to be with someone. O.K, not someone, it was Yami. Yami is the only person she wanted to be with, but she wasn't ready to forget or forgive.
She took out her cell calling Lavie to come pick her up. She sighed when she got her voice mail. She then called Satire. No answer.
Miza-no. Bakura-no. Seto, Malik, Mokuba? No, no, and no.
She sighed as one option remained. She had to or she'd be forced to walk all the way home in heels. She dialed the number and waited for an answer. There was a click signaling the phone being picked up. She sighed. Some part of her wished he hadn't.
-Hello? - Came a husky reply from the other end.
Zaire took a deep breath, "Yami? This is Zaire."
She could hear moving in the back ground before he answered, -Yeah? -
Zaire sighed, "If you want me to explain it, I will, but right now I just would really like if you came and got me."
There was silence for a while before he replied, -Where are you? -
She smiled, "Thank you, Yami. I'm on Libercross road. I'll wait at the bus stop."
There was a sigh; -O.K. I'll be there in about forty-five minutes. - He said before the line went dead.
Zaire looked at her phone and closed her eyes trying her best not to cry.
She waited at the stop for forty-two minutes before Yami pulled up. He unlocked the door and she got in.
They drove in silence. Zaire looked out the window and Yami continued to drive. Not in the mood for music he turned the radio off.
Once they came to a red light, Yami shifted in his seat taking a slight glance at Zaire. He saw her holding her blouse closed and sighed angrily.
The light turned green and he continued on, this time starting up a conversation, "Have fun?"
Zaire sighed, "I don't want to talk about it."
Yami glanced at her, "But if I remember correctly, you said you'd explain everything to me if I wanted you too."
Zaire sighed, "He had a girlfriend."
Yami nodded. Surprisingly that was all he needed to hear to figure out what happened.
Zaire's eyes began to water. She didn't want to but so much was happening. She had let all these emotions build up in her and now she just had to let it out.
Yami was taken back when Zaire suddenly burst into tears. He looked at her, "Hey. It's nothing to cry about. It's not your fault."
Zaire shook her head, "I feel like such an idiot. How could I have let this happen?"
Yami looked at her again, "Hey, you didn't know. It's O.K."
Zaire looked at Yami, "No. Its not that. You hurt me, Yami. I trusted you and you hurt me!"
Yami sat and listened. Zaire hadn’t shown any emotion toward what had happened the other day. She had been holding it in from the moment she saw Anzu and him on the bathroom floor. He knew she needed to get this out. He was glad she was getting it out.
“You lied to me! You betrayed me! You have hurt me worst then anyone ever has because I trusted you! I believed you! I confided in and felt comfort with you, Yami! I feel used! I feel cheap! I feel like I meant nothing to you! After all these years, Yami, it only took one night for you to flush everything we’ve worked so hard to build completely down the toilet! You were my everything! Whenever I felt this awful I came to you! Who do I turn to now, Yami?! Huh?! Who?!” she turned from him and placed her hands over her face as her body was racked with overwhelming tears.
Yami stared at the road in front of him. He didn’t know what to say. He’d been waiting for her to yell. He was prepared for her to curse. He expected for her to hit him.
But this….
Zaire breathed, trying to get control of her emotions again. They drove the rest of the way home in silence with only the sound of her shaky breaths.
Once they pulled up to the house, Yami stopped the car and unlocked the doors. As Zaire was about to open it, Yami grabbed her arm.
She turned toward him, looking down as tears continued to roll from her eyes. He laced her fingers with his and brought her chin up with his other hand.
“I have no words to express the sorrow I feel for the pain I have caused you, Zaire. It was a stupid, drunken mistake. One that I can’t take back, but that could have easily been prevented if I had just gone home that night. How badly I wish I could go back and change everything. I’m so sorry for the emptiness I have caused you. I’m so sorry for betraying you. I’m so so so sorry for throwing it all away so carelessly. You mean the world to me. And I want so badly to do whatever I can to make it up to you and to make it right, Zaire. Please.” He stared into her golden eyes. They weren’t as brilliant as he remembered them. It was like the life had been sucked right out of them.
“I don’t know.” She whispered.
Yami sighed looking down at their hands.
Zaire's tears came more as she rubbed Yami's hand to her face. Yami felt tears stinging at his eyes, “So…then…we’re done?” He asked.
Zaire breathed a heavy sigh, “I just...I think maybe if….I need time…I need to think.” She admitted.
Yami nodded in understanding. He didn’t want to give her time apart, but maybe it was for the best…for her.
Zaire leaned in for a hug but was surprised when warm lips met hers.
Yami wrapped his arms around her thin waist pulling her closer to him, "One more night." He said into the kiss, “Please?”
Zaire nodded as she continued to kiss him.
