Chapter Forty-one
Out of Dreams

�� Seto lifts
the ringing phone and holds the receiver to his ear. �Kaiba.�
�� Hey! It�s
Jou!� exclaims the person on the other end.
�� Hello,
Jou,� says Seto smiling, �How�s your sister?�
�� She�s
doing great! Her eyesight�s all better!� exclaims Jou happily, �I guess Mokuba
must have told you where I went! I tried to call you at the office to tell you
I was going, but your secretary said you weren�t taking any calls, and I didn�t
want to leave a message. I thought it would be best if I told you myself.�
�� Yes� thank
you.�
�� Kaiba��
Jou sighs.
�� What�s
wrong?�
�� Mom� I
don�t really believe it myself, but� she asked me to stay, transfer schools and
live with her,� says Jou.
�� So� you
aren�t coming home, are you, puppy?� whispers Seto sadly.
�� I don�t
know what to do.�
�� Please
come home.�
�� I�ll see
you tomorrow evening. Okay, Kaiba?�
�� Will I
need to pick you up at the bus station?� asks Seto hopefully.
�� My bus
arrives at seven o�clock if you want to pick me up,� says Jou, �but I can walk
home if you�re not there� Listen, I have to go. I�m going to play a teaching
duel with Zuka.�
�� I�ll see
you when you get here,� says Seto.
�� Yeah�
bye��
�� Seto lowers
the receiver. He listens to the music coming out of his computer, and it nearly
tears his heart in two.
�� I�ve been
waiting all day for ya babe, so won�t you come and sit and talk to me and tell
me how we�re gonna be together always. Hope you know when it�s late at night, I
hold on to my pillow tight and think of how you promised me forever,� comes the
young adolescent�s voice, �I never thought that anyone could make me feel this
way. Now that you�re here boy all I want is a chance to say��
�� Seto licks
his lips and sings along with the words that shatter his heart. �Get out!
Leave, right now! It�s the end of you and me. It�s too late now and I can�t
wait for you to be gone. �Cause I know about her and I wonder how I bought all
the lies. You said that you would treat me right but you were just a waste of
time.�
�� Why
must you destroy both of our hearts and souls?� asks Seth.
�� I won�t
allow Katsuya to be hurt by my stupidity or by my love. If I love him, someone
will kidnap and kill him.�
�� Katsuya
is too strong for that.�
�� I can�t
risk his death.�
�� So now
after all is said and done, maybe I�m the one to blame but to think that you
could be the one. Well it didn�t work out that way,� comes the girl�s voice
through the speakers on the computer, �Get out, leave, right now. It�s the end
of you and me. It�s too late now and I can�t wait for you to be gone. �Cause I
know about her and I wonder how I bought all the lies. You said that you would
treat me right but you were just a waste of time.�
�� I wanted
you right here with me but I have no choice, you�ve gotta leave because my
heart is breaking with every word I�m saying,� sings Seto, �I gave up
everything I had on something that just wouldn�t last, but I refuse to cry. No
tears will fall from these eyes.�
�� You
love him so much. Do you really think he can�t take care of himself?�
�� I can�t
afford to lose him. I�d rather love him from a distance than have him killed
because someone�s trying to get to me.�
�� You
are a coward!�
�� What?�
�� Let
Katsuya decide if you are worth risking his life for! He may think that loving
you is worth dying for!�
�� Listen
up, Seth. This song is just as much for you as it is for Katsuya��
�� �Huh?�
�� Get out,
leave, right now. It�s the end of you and me,� sings Seto, �It�s too late now
and I can�t wait for you to be gone. �Cause I know about her and I wonder how I
bought all the lies. You said that you would treat me right but you were just a
waste of time.� He gets up from his desk and presses the buttons to turn his
computer off. Then he heads to his bedroom and falls on his bed, going to sleep
without even bothering to undress.
�� Seto wakes
up refreshed on Sunday morning. He blinks as he tries to remember the dreams he
had that night, but he can�t remember a single one. �The dreams are gone� but
for how long?�
�� Seto works
all day in his home office, getting more done in a single day than he has in
all the time since he started having his dreams of Katsuya. He looks at the
clock when it�s almost six-thirty, and he shuts down the computer. He heads out
to the limo and travels to the bus station. He waits outside of the station,
leaning against the limo, and waiting for the familiar blond head to emerge
from the building.
�� Katsuya
walks slowly as he emerges from the building. He sees the limo waiting for him,
and he forces a smile. He walks up to Seto and pulls the brunet into a warm
embrace. �I�m lost.�
�� Shh,
puppy, it�s okay,� whispers Seto holding Katsuya to his chest. He pulls the
blond into the limo with him, and he closes the door indicating that they head
back to the mansion.
�� I want to
stay with Shizuka, but I have people I love here too,� whispers Katsuya pulling
away from Seto slightly, �Give me a reason to stay or to go.�
�� Seto licks
his lips. �I need you, Jou, puppy.�
�� Katsuya
presses his lips to Seto�s in a long, passionate kiss. He pulls away blushing
beet red. �Does that mean you want me to stay?�
�� I need you
to stay,� says Seto, �You and Mokuba are the only people in my life. I don�t
want to lose one of you.�
�� Katsuya
nods his head and smiles.
�� Seto
clutches Katsuya to his chest. �There�s something I need to tell you.�
�� Not
now you idiot! You�ll make him leave!�
�� What is
it?� asks Katsuya staring into the deep blue eyes.
�� Then
when?�
�� If
you must tell him anything� tell him through that song you insist on singing.
Choose a song to break his heart,� says Seth.
�� But I want
to wait until the stupid talent show. Can you wait to find out until then?�
asks Seto.
�� Sure, Se�
Kaiba,� says Katsuya cuddling up to Seto�s chest.
�� You can
call me Seto if you want to, Jou,� says Seto.
�� Seto��
Katsuya smiles and buries his face in Seto�s neck.
�� Seto holds
Katsuya tighter as a wave of intense joy floods his body.
�� You can
call me Katsuya, if you want,� whispers Katsuya.
�� �Yes!�
Seto smiles. �Katsuya��
�� The limo
pulls up in front of the mansion, and Seto climbs out, pulling Katsuya close
behind him.
�� Katsuya
smiles deviously as he pulls Seto into the living room to watch a movie with
him, Mokuba, and Yugi.
�� Seto climbs
into bed that night with a smile on his face because his puppy�s come home. He
closes his eyes and falls quickly to sleep.

�� Kaiba wraps his arm around
Jou�s waist, and he gently caresses the blond�s lower back. �Tell me what you
would like me to do.�
�� Jou
blushes a bright red. �I� don�t know.�
�� Kaiba
strokes Jou�s cheek with his other hand. He smiles.
�� Seto�
what are you� doing to me?� whispers Jou.
�� I�m
trying to arouse you,� whispers Kaiba softly placing kisses all over Jou�s face.

�� Kaiba
kisses Jou�s lips to cut off the words he doesn�t wish to hear. He moves his
hands gently across Jou�s body and receives a moan for his reward. �Tell me

shakes his head firmly, eyes clamped shut, and cheeks flushed. �No��
�� Kaiba
presses his body close to Jou�s and kisses his lover�s neck.
