Too Young to Fall in Love
Marik drenched his hair with water over the kitchen sink.
“Gah! That’s cold!” He shrieked as the water froze his scalp.
Bakura sat at the kitchen table laughing.
“Marik, stop it. Seeing a ferocious lover like you scream like a hikari is almost enough to roll me
over in my grave.”
Marik flipped his saturated spikes back, sending droplets of water dancing to the floor.
“I don’t need your sarcasm. I’ve got more important things on my mind.”
Bakura curled his lip and groaned.
“I know....me too. I’m just trying to lighten things up.”
“You? Bakura? Lighten things up? That’s as likely as the pharaoh waltzing right through the
front door ready to just GIVE me my Millennium rod.”
Bakura stood up and walked in front of Marik with his arms crossed.
“Have you thought about how we are going to get to your rod?”
Marik nodded his head.
“Yes, I have. We’ll disguise ourselves as our other selves, than I’ll distract Yugi while you find
my rod.”
Bakura grunted sarcastically.
“You call that a plan Ishtar? I consider that amateur!”
Marik crossed his arms and glowered.
“Are you saying you have a better idea?”
Bakura turned his back to Marik and walked into the doorway of the kitchen. He turned his head
and started to laugh.
“We can do it your way, I don’t care. Just don’t come crying to me when the pharaoh suspects
something is up.”
“What do you mean?” Marik ask.
Bakura turned around and leaned against the door frame.
“Think about it Rod-head; every time our hikari’s were seen together, we were actually in
control of them, and just posing as them. You following me or do I need to elaborate?”
Marik let out a long sigh.
“No, you don’t need to go on, I follow.”
Bakura grinned in a satisfied manner.
“I knew you’d see it my way.”
Marik let out a slightly irritated growl.
“Don’t you get sick of being a smart ass?”
Bakura shrugged his shoulders.
“Don’t you get tired of the pharaoh out smarting you?”
Marik glared daggers at Bakura, but didn’t justify his remark with an immediate response.
“What the hell do you propose, Bakura? We walk into the game shop, slit everybody’s throats,
than tie the pharaoh to a tree and shoot him full of arrows?”
Bakura pondered Marik’s suggestion as he sat back down at the kitchen table.
“I like it Marik, now you’re actually starting to think!”
“We can’t kill anyone you nit wit! Have you forgotten that our hikari’s would be charged with
such a crime? If they’re stuck in a jail cell-“
“Oh quit you’re preaching, Ishtar. I was only joking. You take everything way to serious. NOW,
for my REAL idea, here’s what I propose........”

Yugi ran to the front of the game shop as fast as his legs would take him. The buzzer that would
announce when customers were arriving kept going off repeatedly, and causing a lot of racket.
Yugi grabbed his cordless phone off the wall as he entered into the front of the store.
“Hey Tristan? Can you come over? I’ve got a little problem.”
Yugi spoke into the phone.
//A problem? With what?//
“That buzzer is broken again, and I can’t turn it off.”
//Oh, okay, give me a few minutes and I’ll be right over.//
“Thanks Tristan, see you in a few”
//You got it//
Yugi set down the phone and covered his ears.
“Stupid technology.” He mumbled as he waited for Tristan.
Within a few minutes, Yugi heard the rumble of a motorcycle outside the game shop. He ran to
the door expecting to see Tristan.
“Wow Tris, that was fa-uh-Malik? What do you want?”
Malik (actually Marik) got off his motorcycle and pushed his sunglasses up into his hair. He
looked around before finally focusing back on Yugi.
“I was just on my way home, what the hell is all that noise?”
Yugi frowned as he looked back at the noisy game shop.
“The buzzer is broken again”
Just as the words left Yugi’s mouth, another motorcycle pulled up behind Malik’s. Tristan pulled
off his helmet and set it on his bike.
“Malik? What are you doing here?” he said with disdain.
Malik leered scornfully at Tristan.
“None of your business.”
Yugi quickly jumped between them to stop the situation from escalating. Tristan never
particularly liked Malik from day one. He would never admit why he loathed the Egyptian so
much, but everybody had their own ideas why.
“Hey, uh-Tristan. Come on inside.”
Yugi started leading Tristan away, glancing back at Malik for only a moment.
“See ya Malik.”
Malik replaced his sunglasses over his eyes as he started up his motorcycle.
“I did my part Bakura, now you’d better come through on you’re end of the bargain.”

Joey laid on his mattress on the floor staring up at the ceiling. He was wearing only a pair of
jeans with the top button left open. He could hear the sound of the blades of the ceiling fan
above his head slicing through te air. The room was still and muggy. Sweat beaded up on his
forehead. This day had to be hottest one all summer. He rested his hands behind his head and
closed his eyes. Images from the night prior began to flash through his mind.
***Flashback***
“Joey, I’m sorry, but things just aren’t working out between us. I think we need some time
apart.”
Joey’s eyes pooled with tears. He and Yugi had been “more than just friends” for over a year
now. What made Yugi change his mind?
“But-but......Yugi....What did I do wrong?”
Yugi wiped a lone tear off of his cheek. He couldn’t even look Joey in the eyes.
“Joey, I know we’ve been friends forever, but I don’t think it could ever work out as anything
more. I’m just too young to fall in love, I guess.”
Joey couldn’t control the tears flowing from his eyes. How could Yugi do this to him?
“I love you Yugi, how can you turn your back me? We’ve been through so much!” he hiccupped.
Yugi turned and began to walk away.
“I’m sorry Joey, it’s for the best.”
***end flashback**
“For the best, my ass!” Joey growled as more tears came to his eyes. Just as his emotions began
to resurface, he heard the phone ringing. He reached over and picked up the receiver.
“Talk to me” Joey said, using his usual greeting.
//Wheeler, I need to see you in my office in 15 minutes.//
“Kaiba? Is that you?” Joey ask curiously. Getting a personal call from the CEO of Kaiba corps
was about as likely as striking it big in Hollywood. What could he want?
//15 minutes Wheeler, be here. *CLICK*//
Joey hung up the phone and slowly sat up. He pulled his knees to his chest and loosely draped
his arms around his legs.
“Wonder what the hell Kaiba wants.” he mumbled to himself as he grabbed a pair of off-white
socks with holes in them..
Within a few minutes Joey was dressed and ready to go see what Kaiba wanted. He didn’t want
to go particularly, but Kaiba didn’t leave him much of a choice. Joey walked over to his
refrigerator and looked inside.
“Shit.....not even an old piece of bread crust. I need to get another job before I starve to death.”
Joey slammed the refrigerator door shut and stomped out the front door.
***Joey’s POV***
This is all Yugi’s fault! It was all because of him that I got fired from my job last month. It
might not have been a great job, but it at least it kept food in my apartment. I missed work
because I stayed with Yugi while he was gettin' over the flu. The boss happened to get served
with divorce papers that day, so he wasn’t in a great mood to start with. If I’d a known Yugi was
going to dump me I woulda left his carcass and went to work. At least I woulda still had a job.
Fucken Yugi, I have half the mind to pop him right in the kisser!
I gave up everything to be with him, and all he did was throw it all away. It’s days like these
when I wish I could just run away.
But I can’t do that.
As good as it sounds, runnin' away just isn’t part of my personality. I’ve always stuck things out
‘til the bitter end. Of course, Yugi was always there pushin' me to go on........it’s going to be hard
gettin' used to him not being around.
Oh, wow, I’m already at Kaiba Corps. I’ve been so absorbed in my thoughts that I didn’t even
pay attention to anything along the way.
I wonder what the hell Kaiba wants. He probably wants me to wash his limo’s wearin' a dog
costume again.
Note to self; Never lose a bet with Kaiba.
***End POV***
Joey walked through the glass doors that marked the entrance to Kaiba Corps. He was greeted by
a man dressed in a blue security uniform.
“Name?” the guard ask.
Joey cracked a slight grin
“Tell Dragonbreath that Joey Wheelers in the house.”
The guard didn’t change his facial expression as he picked up a phone and spoke into it.
“Mr. Kaiba, a Joey Wheeler is here to see you. Shall I send him up?”
The guard grunted as he clicked down the phone.
“Fifth floor, room 255A”
Joey nodded his head and nonchalantly walked into the elevator. A man wearing a blue uniform
similar to the one of the first security stood looking at him expectantly.
“Which floor, sir” he said with no emotion.
“Five” Joey replied. Within seconds the doors opened to the fifth floor and Joey stepped out.
“Hmm......255A.......”
Joey wandered around until he finally found the correct room. He knocked on the door
nervously.
“Come in”
Joey coyly opened the door and walked inside. Seto was sitting with his feet propped up on his
desk.
“Hello.........puppy.........I hear you and the twerp had a fall out”
