Wake up Screaming
            Yami hesitantly opened his tired eyes. He was surprised to find he was no longer in the
cold metal clapper chair that Bakura had masterminded. Instead, he found himself on a bed
surrounded by fluffy pillows in black pillowcases. He was horrified to find that during the time
he was unconscious, somebody had dressed hn a n a tight, white straight jacket. The straight
jacket was undoubtably stolen property belonging to Bakura.
Yami closed his eyes again and listened closely.
The house was completely silent. Not a peep could be heard from anywhere. The quiet was
uncomfortably nerve-wracking. When things were quiet, it usually meant something bad was
about to happen.
Yami sat up slowly and looked around the dimly lit room. The shades had been pulled, so he had
no idea what time of day it was. He suddenly felt light-headed and fell back onto the bed.
Everything around Yami felt as though it was spinning around him. Nausea suddenly hit him like
a brick in the pit of his stomach. He forced himself to the edge of the bed to avoid messing it up.
The stress of the past couple days, combined with the extreme physical strain he’d endured had
finally caught up with him. Once he’d heaved until what seemed like no ends, Yami finally was
able to catch his breath. He inched his way back to the center of the bed and rested back on one
of the soft pillows. Sweat mixed with tears as it drizzled down his pale face.
His blond bangs stuck to his cheeks. He could barely open his eyes. Even after throwing up, he
still felt sick to his stomach. Yami closed his eyes. The first image that came to his mind was
one of Yugi the night he’d broken off his relationship with Joey at Yami’s request. Yugi was
sick for over a week after the break up. He spent the first night throwing up and crying.
Yami swallowed hard.
If he’d never forced Yugi to break up with Joey, he wouldn’t be in this mess right now. Things
could have been very different if he’d have put Yugi’s feelings before his own.
A tear rolled down his cheek, followed by many more. Yami cried and cried until his eyes went
dry.
“I’m sorry Yugi......so sorry” he whimpered over and over. His eyelids began to grow heavy, and
slowly Yami cried himself to sleep.
            “Up and at’em pharaoh. Bakura wants to take you out with us tonight.” Marik announced
as he walked into the room sometime later.
Yami’s eyes shot open as he was jolted from his sleep by Marik’s grandrancrance.
He looked up and stared at Marik nervously.
Marik took noticed of Yami’s apparent apprehension of him and started to laugh.
“Would you quit looking at me like I’m going to impale you in the ass with my Millennium
Rod? Good grief, pharaoh, I only came up here to give you these clothes to wear.”
Yami let out a relieved sigh as Marik tossed some clothes onto the bed.
His relief was short-lived though.
Bakura stepped into the doorway with a demonic scowl on his face.
“Getting chatty again, Ishtar? You’d better come with me. Yami, you have exactly 15 minutes
to figure out how to get out of that straight jacket and get dressed”
Yami glared sharply back at Bakura.
“And if I don’t?” he rebelliously answered the leather clad tomb robber.
Bakura pushed his way into the room and stood at the foot of the bed with his hands on his hips.
“Do you really want to know?” he spat back venomously.
Yami didn’t want to push his luck with the short-tempered thief, so he held back another
sarcastic remark.
“I’ll be ready, now get out.”
“Such a mouthy little washed up pharaoh.” Bakura remarked. He turned and looked back at
Marik. “Hand me your Millennium Rod.”
Marik stepped back and guarded his rod with his hand.
“Highly unlikely, thief. Just leave the little mutant alone. There’s one can of beer left in the
refrigerator, and I won’t share if I get to it first!” Marik smirked evilly as he took off running.
Bakura glared at Yami before turning and racing out the door after Marik.
“15 minutes!” He yelled back as he raced after Marik.
            Yami looked down at the straight jacket and growled. He had no idea how to get out of it.
The more he squirmed, the tighter the jacket felt.
He glanced at an alarm clock next to the bed. Two minutes had already passed. Yami continued
to wiggle around desperately trying to free himself.
He could hear Bakura yelling a string of obscenities at Marik for whatever reason.
Marik wasn’t taking Bakura’s words lightly though. He rattled off every curse in the Egyptian
language in response to Bakura’s blunt remarks.
Yami looked back at the clock. Only ten minutes left. He tried everything he could, but he just
couldn’t get out of the damn straight jacket. Yami flopped forward on the bed and buried his
face in the clothes Marik had brought him. Time was of the essence, and he’d already wasted
more than he should have. As Yami picked up his face to look at timetime, he noticed a note
tucked into the pants pocket. Yami pulled it out with his teeth qui quickly opened it using his
mouth. His eyes lit up when he realized it was instructions on how to escape the straight jacket.
He quickly followed the instructions and freed himself. Yami looked back at the clock and
realized he only had one minute to get dressed.
He quickly pulled on the black leather vest. The collar came up high, and there were no buttons
to close the front with. Next Yami yanked on the black jeans. The knees were completely worn
out if the denim material, and the inseam was very thin. Yami looked more like a pimp on skid
row than a prestigious ancient pharaoh. The shiny black boots Marik left were a perfect fit.
He quickly snatched up the strange instructions off the bed and crumpled them into a little ball.
He shoved the little paper ball at the bottom of the waste paper basket and hid it. Yami heard
Bakura and Marik coming back up the stairs, so he took a deep breath and stepped out into the
hall.
“So where are we goinnighnight?” Yami pompously grinned at Bakura.
Bakura was visibly surprised that Yami had escaped from the straight jacket. He stopped dead in
his tracks and gaped at the pharaoh.
Marik continued forward and handed Yami a red leather jacket.
“We’re taking our bikes out. You’ll be riding with me, shorty.”
The bronze Egyptian grabbed Yami by his arm, yanked him past Bakura and down the stairs.
Bakura stood completely still staring at the wall in disbelief.
            Out in the driveway, Marik lead Yami over to a shiny red motorcycle that matched the
color of the jacket Yami was wearing. The spiky haired Egyptian swung his leg around the bike
and took a seat. Turning to Yami, he started to laugh.
“Well what are you waiting for? Hop on, runt.”
Seconds after Yami had gotten on the motorcycle behind Marik, Bakura emerged from the
garage looking like he was ready to rip anybody’s head off. He was carrying a pair of hand cuffs.
He stalked over to Yami and grabbed one of his wrists.
“Tonight’s your lucky night. I should tie you behind my bike and make you run, but Ishtar here
had his own idea.”
Bakura cuffed Yami’s hands behind his back.
“Any idea how you’re going to hang on?” He laughed.
Yami had an idea, but Bakura didn’t need to know it. The thief didn’t wait for Yami to respond.
He got on a black motorcycle parked a few feet away and kicked it into gear.
“The Morgue on 13^th street.” He yelled over the ferocious growl of his motorcycle as he rumbled
out of the driveway.
Marik nodded sharply and revved up the engine.
“Better hold on tight, I’m not letting Bakura beat us there.”
Yami casually wrapped his legs securely around Marik’s waist.
“I’m impressed, pharaoh.” The Egyptian grinned as raced out of the driveway after the tomb
robber.
            After riding a wheelie half of the way there, Marik pulled into a small parking lot where
he parked the bike.
Yami got off and looked around the shadowy parking lot. There was only one street light in the
area, and it was inconveniently almost a block away.
“So what is this place?” Yami ask Marik casually.
“It’s the Morgue. Follow me.” Marik responded quickly as he got up.
“The MORGUE?” Yami ask aghast.
Marik pointed up to a sign hanging from the front of the building.
“Can’t you read?”
Yami stopped and made a face at Marik.
“I’ll have you know that once you’re dead there’s no such thing as illiteracy. I can read in every
known language known throughout time.”
Marik stopped in front of the entrance of the tavern and laughed.
“No kidding? That’s interesting to know. Next time Malik goes out for Italian I’ll tell him to
bring you. Hurry up now, let’s go inside.”
Yami followed Marik into the noisy tavern. A cloud of smoke lingered above them as they
walked through the crowd.
“There’s ‘Kura.” Marik pointed out.
Bakura was leaning over the bar casually five-finger-discounting a pack of cigarettes. His finesse
was quiet impressive. Nobody, except for Marik and Yami, caught on to his game.
“Hey, bartender, another one of these!” The thief demanded sharply, waving his empty shot class
in the air. “And a beer too!”
Marik sided up to Bakura and punched him in the arm.
“Hey ugly”
Bakura punched Marik back and grinned evilly.
“I see you finally decided to show up. What took so long?” Bakura glanced at Yami who was
standing partially behind Marik. “You stop and screw my dog in the park or something?”
Marik rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, I fucked him until he was foaming at the mouth and howling my name.” he shot back
sarcastically.
Bakura picked up his refilled shot glass and held it up.
“I’ll drink to that.” he laughed as he downed its bitter contents.
Marik turned to Yami.
“Want anything?”
“Only if you’re paying.” Yami remarked smuggly.
Marik yelled something to the bartender, who promptly set two shot glasses and two beer glasses
in front of Marik. Moments later Marik turned back to Yami.
“Turn around.” he demanded.
Yami turned around without asking questions. Marik unlocked one of Yami’s wrists from the
cuffs and turned him around to face him again. He handed Yami a shot and a beer. Neither of
them said a word. Marik pulled up a seat at the bar quietly watched the crowd.
Yami watched Bakura’s eyes shift over the crowd. He seemed to be taking in every detail about
every person there, like he was looking for somebody specific.
“Why have you brought me here?” Yami as sternly. He didn’t quite care for his surroundings.
This place literally looked just like a real morgue, complete with a real casket in the center of
the room.
Bakura shrugged his shoulders.
“You’ll see” he snickered.
Marik got up from his seat and grabbed Yami’s arm.
“I’m taking the pharaoh over to the pool table, don’t start any fights without me.”
“You wish” Bakura laughed as he turned away to order another drink.
      &;     By the time Marik and Yami had finished a game of pool, they came back to find Bakura
as drunk as a sailor on leave. He was not being a very nice drunk either. He’d already managed
to piss off a very tough looking group of burly guys.
“I’d send you to the Shadow Realm, but the shadows are too good for somebody as pathetic and
weak as you!” The tomb robber spat spitefully.
A man who stood at least 6' 5" and weighed at least 300 pounds stepped forward and glowered
down at the mouthy little thief. He picked Bakura up by his throat and threw him against the
wall.
“What your mouth, pipsqueak.”
Marik turned back to Yami and grinned.
“The fun starts now.” He laughed as he reached for the Millennium Rod.
In the blink of and eye Marik swung his rod out and brought it crashing against the back of the
big guy’s head, causing the guy to release Bakura and grab the back of his head.
It didn’t take long before he went after Marik, who firmly stood his ground. Bakura quickly
caught his breath and lunged at the guy as he went after Marik.
Next thing Yami knew a huge bar brawl had sprung up around him. Fists were flying
everywhere, and glasses could be heard shattering as they were broke.
Yami had never been in a bar fight before, and didn’t really know what to do. His first instincts
told him to run, but he quickly decided against running. He couldn’t have Bakura see him show
weakness. Yami’s eyes shot wide open as a chair was suddenly smashed over his head. The blow
was enough to send him to his knees. He shook off the pain and looked back to see who’d hit
him, but there was really no way of knowing. Everybody was moving around so much it wasn’t
possible to pin the chair on anybody specific.
Yami quickly got to his feet and made an attempt to jump over the bar.
“Look out!” Marik yelled someone threw his across the smooth mahogany bar. Yami moved out
of Marik’s way right in the knick of time, just barely escaping getting hit.
Marik wasn’t as lucky as Yami though, he slid all the way down the bar and ended up crashing
through a large glass window head first. Bakura jumped up on the bar and clutched his
Millennium Ring.
The ring began to glow, and a large group of brawlers disappeared.
Yami glared sharply at Bakura. Part of a deal they’d made a long while back was that there
would be no sending souls to the shadow realm. Normally Yami would have protested his
actions, but he really didn’t have any say over what Bakura did at this point in time.
Yami ran over to the window Marik had been thrown through and jumped out of it. He found
Marik rolling around on the sidewalk fighting with a guy that matched him in size. The fight had
already spilled out into the street.
“Marik!” Yami shouted as he jumped between the two scrapping men.
He joined Marik in pounding the shit out of the lanky man. The hard sole of Yami’s boot
connected with the chin of Marik’s adversary, sending him flying into the street. The man laid
motionless.
“Are you okay?” He ask Marik as he caught his breath.
Marik wiped some blood off of his chin and nodded.
“Just great” he growled as he got to his feet and headed back into the bar.
Yami cringed at the thought of re-entering the unruly tavern, but followed Marik in against his
own better judgement.
They weren’t surprised to find Bakura swinging a broken bottle at whomever came near him.
Marik waved his hand and shouted at the brawling bloody thief.
“Hey, over here!”
Bakura kept his guard up as he glanced in Marik and Yami’s direction.
“Where in hell have you been! Damn it, Ishtar! Hurry up and do your thing!”
Marik pulled his Millennium Rod out of his belt loop, only to have it kicked out of his hand.
“Oh shit” he gulped as the foot that kick the rod away connected with his stomach.
Yami scrambled to confiscate the rod. He slid across the floor on his stomach, seizing the rod as
he passed it by. By the time he got up from the floor, Marik and Bakura were smack dab in the
middle of all the commotion. Yami hesitated momentarily as he tried to think of what to do.
“MIND CONTROL!” Marik shouted loud enough for Yami to hear.
The pharaoh quickly figured out what Marik was trying to relay to him. Yami held up the
Millennium Rod and closed his eyes. The Millennium eye appeared in the middle of his
forehead as he invoked the mind control powers of the ancient item.
The entire bar suddenly grew completely silent. Yami opened his eyes and realized he’d just
taken control of every mortal mind in the place.
Marik and Bakura picked themselves up off the floor and stared each other down evilly.
“What in the seven hells was that about, Ishtar! You were suppos be be backing me up!”
Marik spit some blood out onto the floor and wiped his chin with his hand. He grabbed Bakura
by his shirt collar and yanked him face to face with him.
“Quit your crying. I wasn’t the one who started messing with the mortals. If you got hurt it’s
your own damn fault.”
Bakura glared viciously back at Marik and slapped Marik’s hand away from him.
“Just fuck off” he snarled.
Marik’s eye began to twitch as his anger grew at Bakura.
“You just shut up. I should kick your ass for being a stupid, over dramatic, mouthy thief.” he
glared.
“Over dramatic?” Bakura snarled.
A menacing red aura began to completely surround Bakura as he cracked his knuckles. Marik
patted around for his Millennium Rod, but came up empty handed.
“Shit” His voice trembled slightly.
Yami looked at the rod in his hands and than up at Marik. He had a choice to make. He knew
Bakura would punish him severely if he helped Marik out. Yami knew Bakura wouldn’t think
twice about torturing him in some disturbing painful fashion. Maybe Bakura would lighten up a
little if he took his side?
“Yami? My rod? Now would be nice, you know.” Marik gulped as Bakura clutched the
Millennium Ring.
Bakura’s spiky hair twitched evilly as his shadow powers gathered. A bright light shot out of the
Millennium Ring and hit Marik directlyin the chest. Marik was thrown violently back and hit the
wall with a resounding thud.
Yami couldn’t stand the look in Marik’s eyes. Even though Marik had done some horrible things
during his existence, he hadn’t been half as ruthless as Bakura. Yami knew what he had to do.
“Marik! Catch!” Yami shouted as he pitched the rod to Marik.
Marik reached out and caught the rod. Bakura lunged forward, but it was too late. A bright
glowing stream of energy shot out of the rod and knocked Bakura back..
Bakura backed off after realizing the odd were even up.
“You’ll regret that, Yami!” he hissed as he kicked one of the rod’s mind slaves square in the ass.
Yami gritted his teeth and shivered at the thought of what was yet to come.
Marik rubbed the back of his head and made a very unhappy face at Bakura.
“I’m out of here.”
“Good!” Bakura glared back.
Marik pulled Yami out of the tavern, leaving Bakura behind.
“You’re dead.....so fucking dead, Yami!” The abandon thief shouted after them.
Yami had to get one last wise crack in, after all, it might be his last.
“And your point is?” he cracked as he followed Marik outside.
            Upon returning home and being locked up in the bedroom, the realization of what he’d
just done hit Yami. There wasn’t a doubt in his mind that Bakura was planning his next assault
that very moment. Marik hadn’t said a word to Yami since they’d left either.
Yami walked over to the window and looked outside. An hour had already passed and Bakura
still hadn’t returned. Yami cringed at the thought of what Bakura could be up to. The suspense
was overwhelming. Yami paced back and forth nervously awaiting Bakura’s return.
            Two hours had came and went, and still no sign of Bakura. Yami had caught himself
dozing off numerous times already. He knew he never should have laid down. As the clock
ticked away another hour, Yami slowly fell to sleep and started to dream. The skeletons in
Yami’s closet came out to play in his sub-conscious mind after the lights went out. Images of all
his transgressions played out in his head all night long and into the early morning. The sun had
barely risen above the horizon when Yami was woke up by his bedroom door being kicked open.
“Wake up, it’s time to die!” He hissed as he jumped on top of Yami.
“Bakura! No!” Marik shouted as he ran into the room.
Yami let out a scream as Bakura grabbed a tuft of his hair and jerked his head up violently.
“You think you’re so tough. You won’t be sporting that cocky attitude once I’m done with you.
It’s time to introduce you to my ultimate torture device, pharaoh.......” the tomb robber spat with
hostility.
Marik’s eyes got as big as saucers.
“Bakura, no! Not thaten ten the pharaoh doesn’t deserve that! Please reconsider!”
Yami gulped audibly as he stared directly into Bakura’s angry face.
Bakura got off of Yami and dragged him off the bed and out of the bedroom by his hair.
Marik followed them down into the basement pleading with Bakura to change his mind.
Bakura threw Yami into the room he’d been in earlier and handcuffed him to a pipe going across
the ceiling. Yami’s toes just barely touched the floor.<

Bakura stood back and took a deep breath in through his nose.
“This is it, I’ve had it with your camelshit. You’ll have to be taught the hard way that
disobedience only brings pain. Excruciating pain. A pain so deep you’ll never think of opposing
me ever again.”
Bakura pulled out Yami’s duel deck from his pocket and grinned evilly.
“If you survive what I have in store for you, maybe I’ll give you the chance to earn these back.
We’ll have to wait and see, won’t we? I’ll be back.”
Bakura slammed the door shut as he left the room.
Yami flexed his fingers to keep his circulation from being cut off from the tight metal ring
clamped around his wrist. What was Bakura going to do to him? What on Ra’s green earth could
be so terrifying that it would cause Yami to crack?
The suspense waiting to find out was almost enough to do the job!

Oooh......BAD ‘KURA! I can’t believe what he’s got in store for poor lil’ Yams! He should be
ashamed of himself for this one! The worst kind of torture will be revealed next time
though......Bakura needs to track it down;-) *evil grin*
