Longing

            It had been a week now. Bakura and Atem had slowly started making their affections for
each other known to all. Nobody seemed to have a problem with it, and nobody wondered why
they saw less of Ryou and Yugi over the course of the week. Atem was practically living at
Bakura’s, simply because he didn’t feel it would be right do what they liked doing at the game
shop...with Grampa Motou only a few feet away. When Atem couldn’t be with Bakura and had
to watch the shop with Yugi, they talked on the telephone. There was barely a minute they were
completely apart.
When they were apart, it drove Bakura wild.
            By Friday, the school had called Grampa Motou about Yugi not showing up all week.
Needless to say, the old man was not very pleased. He confined Yugi to his room for the
weekend. No tv, no video games, no telephone, no friends over, nothing. He also banned Yugi
from hanging out with Ryou, blaming the Tomb-Robbers hikari for Yugi’s sudden change in
behavior. Atem managed to sneak a phone call out to Bakura to tell him the news while Grampa
was talking to a customer. Bakura was devastated when he learned he’d have to spend the
weekend alone. Atem was only able to talk to him for a minute, but he was sure to assure Bakura
he’d be thinking of him before he had to go.
Saying goodbye was the hardest part for the tomb-robber........
            He didn’t know what to do with himself. After spending so much time with Atem, being
forced apart from his lover gnawed ravenously at his broken soul. The pain of being separated
left him feeling lonelier than ever. His soul didn’t feel complete without the former Pharaoh
right there next to him, assuring him of their bond. Like a puzzle missing the final piece, Bakura
felt incomplete. He was practically bouncing off the walls. He knew being apart from Atem
would drive him over the edge, so he decided to go out and drown his sorrows in a bottle.
            He breathed in the fragrant night as he walked the busy streets. Crowds of people passed
him by, but Bakura didn’t seem to notice. His world was in a blur. His mind was on only one
thing......trying to forget about Atem. But it was hard.....too hard. The more he tried to forget, the
more he longed to feel the former Pharaoh in his arms again.
            Bakura turned into a small corner pub and found a seat at the end of the bar...away from
the impudent mortals. He didn’t feel like socializing, he just wanted to be left alone.
            He didn’t bother looking up as he took a seat in the smoky pub. Had he known who was
bartending that night, he probably would have not even stopped there.
“Well, well, if it isn’t my old friend the Tomb-Robber.... ” A familiar voice laughed mockingly
from behind the bar.
Bakura growled evilly as he slowly lifted his eyes and peered out through his spiky white bangs.
“Marik, I should have known......”
Bakura got up to leave.
“Where’s your new boyfriend? Did he dump your pathetic ass already?” The spiky haired
Egyptian chuckled arrogantly.
Bakura clenched his fists and glared at Marik as his inner rage began to creep out.
“Just fuck off, Tomb-Keeper....I don’t need your shit right now.”
“Oooh......somebody’s cranky tonight!” Marik laughed as he reached for a shot glass and a bottle
of the strongest whisky behind the bar.
Bakura squeezed his fists together tightly as he fought the urge to jump over the bar and strangle
the smug Egyptian.
“Don’t get me started, fool. Slitting your throat is not beyond my moral standards.”
Marik set the shot glass down on the bar and filled it up.
“Just shut it, Tomb-Robber. I can see you need a few drinks to cool you off, for whatever
reasons. Here, have this, it’s on the house.”
Bakura glanced at the shot sitting on the bar. He could have sworn he heard it calling his name.
Against his better judgement, he opted to stay a bit longer. What did it really matter anyway? It
wasn’t like he had anything better to do. If Marik grew too bothersome, at least he could take out
his frustrations out by killing him......or something like that.
Bakura quickly gulped down the shot, slamming the empty glass down hard on the smooth
Formica surface.
Marik raised an eyebrow.
“You certainly took that down fast enough, need another?”
Bakura nodded his head sharply. He could feel the burning sensation of the whisky in the back
of his throat.
Marik poured him another shot.
“That’ll be $3.” The Egyptian grinned as set the bottle down on the bar.
Bakura rolled his eyes as he reached into his back pocket. He pulled a few bills out of his, well,
actually Ryou’s wallet, and slapped them down on the bar.
Marik picked up three of the dollars and winked as he turned to attend to a few other patrons at
the other end of the bar.
“That’s the spirit. If you need anything else, just let me know.”
Bakura picked up the shot refilled glass and held it up to the light. He stared at it for a minute
before he closed his eyes and brought it to his lips.
A picture of Atem flashed through his mind.
Bakura squeezed his eyes shut. He felt a lump growing at the back of his throat. He quickly tilted
his head back as he practically threw the shot of whisky down his throat, temporarily pushing the
lump back down.
The strong alcohol burned in his stomach, but it felt better than the pain of being alone.
            Bakura spent the next few hours tossing back shots, numbing his lonely soul. He wanted
Atem in the worst way. He needed to feel the security the former Pharaoh had given him again.
How was he to know what a powerful effect the divine one would have on him? Without Atem
at his side, he was starting to feel dead inside......and being dead was not a good reason to feel
dead in the thief’s mind.
            Seeing that Bakura was in no shape to make it home on his own, Marik offered him a
ride home. Bakura refused though, insisting that the brisk night air would sober him up. Before
Marik could argue with him, Bakura left the pub.......leaving only an empty bottle in his wake.
He wandered the now deserted streets, walking through the darker parts of town where only
fools and thieves passed through. Cardboard boxes provided the fortunate shelter from the
elements on this side of town, others took refuge behind trash cans under wrinkled pages of
newspaper. Bakura took sanctuary in his own head though, fighting with his mad desire for the
Pharaoh. He pulled a half empty pack of cigarettes out of his jacket pocket and tapped one out.
He placed the cigarette between his lips as he put the rest of the pack back in his pocket. He’d
found the cigarettes, along with a pack of matches, on the back of the toilet in the men’s room
back at the bar. Finders keepers was his motto, so he kept them, even though smoking wasn’t
something he regularly did. He pulled the matches out of his pocket and struck one across the
heel of his boot, using the little flame to light his cigarette. Neat trick, eh? After his cigarette
was lit, Bakura flicked his wrist and put out the match. He tossed the spent match aside. He took
a deep drag and exhaled slowly.
Two shady silhouettes crept out from the shadows and stalked through the moon light behind
Bakura.
“Hey pretty boy, stop and give us your money.” One of them, the tall skinny one, demanded
harshly.
“Yeah, all of it!” The second figure squawked. His voice was high pitched and terribly annoying.
Bakura turned around slowly, taking his cigarette out of his mouth and as he faced his
challengers. They looked to be in their late teen years. Most likely runaways. Neither one looked
to be much of a challenge.
“Oh please....foolish mortals...” Bakura laughed cooly as he took a casual drag of his cigarette.
The young man with the annoying voice pulled a 10 mm revolver out of his pants.
“We’re not kidding, bleach-boy, now hand over your wallet!”
Bakura rolled his eyes as he turned to walk away. Killing them would be too easy, they weren’t
even worth his effort.
The kid pulled the trigger........sending a bullet whizzing right past Bakura’s cheek.
Bakura stopped, taking a final drag of his cigarette before flicking it away.
“So you fools like to play rough, eh?” He mused in a dark, menacing voice as he slowly turned
around. “Alright than, that’s fine with me.”
The night breeze blew Bakura’s hair away from his face, exposing his cruel, deep eyes and
demonic expression.
Both of Bakura’s attackers stared in shock as the thief’s hair began to spike up and his eyes
flickered red.
“Holy fuck, what the hell are you?!” The young man with the gun asked, the weapon trembling
in his hand.
Bakura chuckled lightly as he paralyzed them in place, using the powers of his Millennium Ring.
Their eyes were wide with fear as Bakura walked up to them, an evil black aura surrounding his
body.
“What am I, you ask? Hmm....let me think for a moment.........AH! Yes, I am a thief and a stealer
of souls! Normally I’m nice to people before I damn their souls, but in your cases, I feel I need to
make an exception.”
Bakura could taste their fear, only fueling his need to let out a little pent up anger. He snatched
the weapon out from the hand of the terrified young man and grinned as he ran his fingers along
the cool metal. He opened the chamber and grinned as he tapped out all but one of the bullets.
The two potential attackers helplessly watched on in horror as Bakura closed the chamber and
cocked the gun back.
“Your modern weapons are useless when up against shadow powers, pitiful souls.”
Bakura aimed the gun at the tall, skinny guy’s head.
“Ever play Russian Roulette?”
Both men went white.
“I’ll take your silence as a ‘no’. I’ll explain it to you as we go along.”
Bakura couldn’t help but laugh. Both guys had pissed their pants.........
Once he’d stopped laughing, his face quickly grew serious.
“The way this game goes is, the both of you will take turns holding this gun to each other heads
and pulling the trigger. Are you beginning to sense where this is going?”
Bakura slipped the gun into the hand of the taller one.
“Ready?” Bakura smirked as he forced the man’s finger around the trigger. The unfortunate man
was unable to resist as Bakura pushed his arm so that the gun was aiming at his accomplice’s
head. Tears ran out of the shorter one’s eyes at he looked up in sheer terror.
The game end very quickly. The first shot was the last. The taller man was crying like a baby as
he stared at the half blown off head of his former friend. Blood had managed to splatter
everywhere, covering both the shooter and Bakura.
Bakura released them from his shadow spell and looked on triumphantly. The surviving attacker
dropped to his knees and began to wail like a banshee over his dead friend, whom he’d murdered
with his own hand.
Bakura irreverently kicked at the mangled bloody corpse and laughed evilly.
The man looked up at him with horror and grief in his eyes.
“You.......you’re.....evil! How could you do this!”
Bakura kneeled down and leaned in toward the young man. The man froze in fear as Bakura
licked some of the splattered blood from his jaw. Bakura chuckled softly.
“Nobody fucks with me and gets away with it.”
The man swallowed hard as Bakura got to his feet and stepped back.
“I’ll be on my way now, thank you for the entertainment.” Bakura smirked as he began to walk
away, leaving the mess behind him. One only problem though.....
Now he was wound tight as fuck!
Bakura found himself heading over to the Game Shop, he needed Atem in the worst way now.
After scaling a wall and climbing up a rain gutter, Bakura cleverly made his way up to Yugi’s
bedroom window. He clung to the rain gutter tightly with one hand as he reached into his pocket
for a bullet. He found one and pitched it over at the window, hoping the sound would wake Yugi
up.
Bakura waited a minute for a response before pitching a second one, and than the third. He was
down to the last one now.
Fourth time was a charm. Yugi came to the window in his pajamas and opened it up.
“Psst, over here........” Bakura whispered.
Yugi rubbed his eyes and yawned.
“Bakura? What are-”
“Just shut up. I need to see Atem.”
“Whatever” Yugi sighed sleepily as he gave Atem control.
“Holy shit! I’ll be right out.” Atem whispered, “I just need to throw on some clothes.”
Atem smiled and disappeared from the window. Bakura slid down the rain gutter and waited.
Minutes later Atem appeared in the window again, fully dressed in black jeans and a black shirt.
He followed Bakura’s lead and used the rain gutter as his means of escape.
Before Atem hit the ground, Bakura caught him and pulled him into a starving kiss.
The thief moaned lightly as he held Atem tightly against him.
“I must say, I’m slightly shocked to see you, love.” Atem sighed as he ran his fingers through
Bakura’s blood speckled white hair.
“Let’s go for a walk.” Bakura suggested as he grabbed Atem’s hand.
Atem nodded his head.
“What’s with all the blood?” Atem asked after they were a short distance away.
Bakura shrugged his shoulders calmly.
“Some young punks crossed my path, they needed to be taught a lesson the hard way.”
“You didn’t....” Atem gasp, disbelieving Bakura’s answer.
Bakura started to laugh.
“I just watched mostly. It was quite amusing.”
“You’re demented” Atem answered, rolling his eyes.
Bakura grinned as he elbowed Atem in the ribs playfully. “And you love it.”
Atem grinned back and held his finger up to his lip. “Shhh......that’s still our little secret.”
Bakura chuckled and wrapped his arm around Atem.
“So did you miss me?” Bakura asked as the strolled along the empty sidewalk.
Atem nodded his head as Bakura led them to a nearby park.
“Of course I did, Bakura......I tried calling you again after Yugi’s grandfather went to bed, but
you weren’t home.”
Bakura guided them over to a bench in the park and sat down, pulling Atem down next to him.
“I was out. The voices in my head started to drive me nuts being stuck home alone.”
Atem rested his head on Bakura’s shoulder and put his hand on Bakura’s upper thigh.
“I feel horrible about this mess. There has to be some way I can fix it.” He sighed.
Bakura breathed in the almond scent of Atem’s hair and exhaled slowly. The smaller Pharaoh
smelled simply intoxicating.
“You should just tell the old man to fuck off.”
Atem chuckled lightly as he ran his finger tips along the inseam of the Tomb-Robber’s jeans.
“And give him a heart attack? Yugi wouldn’t care for that, Bakura....you crazy bitch.”
Atem sighed deeply as he snuggled against Bakura’s chest. Bakura rested his cheek on Atem’s
head. They both remained quiet, just enjoying the feel of being together.
“Bakura?” Atem asked after a few minutes.
“What?” Bakura asked, shifting himself around slightly to decrease the bothersome tightness
growing in his jeans.
Atem wound a few strands of Bakura’s long hair around his finger and snaked his hand over the
growing bulge in Bakura’s jeans.
“You smell like cheap cologne and smoke. Where did you go tonight?”
Bakura placed a soft kiss on the Pharaoh’s head.
“I had a few drinks, nothing much. Why do you ask?”
“You seem a little distant, that’s all. Normally we just say hello and get our thing on, but you’re
not doing it tonight. Did something happen?”
Bakura shrugged his shoulders and chuckled.
“Highly unlikely, Pharaoh. Ishtar was bartending. I would have killed him for talking his usual
shit, but he kept giving me free drinks. You know me, never pass up a freebie.”
Atem chuckled as he cleverly unbuttoned Bakura’s jeans. He slipped his hand between the stiff
denim material and Bakura’s warm stomach and felt around until he found what he was looking
for.
Bakura scooted forward a little to allow the Pharaoh easier access. The coolness of Atem’s hand
around his heated, growing arousal caused him to flinch.
Atem unzipped Bakura’s jeans and freed Bakura’s manhood, quickly taking it in his mouth.
Bakura bit his lip and suck in a deep breath.
“What are you *gulp* doing.......Atem?” The tomb-robber panted.
Atem chuckled lightly as ran his warn tongue along the smooth, hardening shaft.
“I’m taking matters into my own hands and doing what you should be doing.”
Atem flicked his tongue over the tip of Bakura’s shaft, creating an over-whelming sensation that
sent surges of pleasure throughout Bakura’s body.
“Maybe next time.” Bakura smirked as he ran his hand under Atem’s shirt and up the Pharaoh’s
spine.
“I want you to cum for me.....can you do that for me, Bakura?” Atem asked as he looked up at
the thief.
Bakura whimpered at the loss of contact.
“Only if you continue with what you were doing.” He answered breathlessly.
Atem grinned evilly as he slid off the bench and wiggled his jeans over his hips.
“I have a better idea......”
Atem grabbed Bakura’s hand and yanked him behind some bushes.
All Bakura saw a flash of light before coming in contact with the damp, soft grass.
Than he saw a pair of black jeans fly past his head.
Next thing he knew, Atem was straddling his hips and riding him. Now that was a pleasant
surprise!
            After their little romp in the bushes, they returned to the bench and sat down to enjoy
their last few minutes together.
“So when will I be able to see you again?” Bakura asked after he caught his breath.
Atem fidgeted nervously with one of the pointers on Bakura’s Millennium Ring.
“I can’t say for sure. It all depends on Yugi’s grandfather really.”
Bakura picked up Atem’s chin with his hand and pointed the Pharaoh’s face at his own He
looked down at Atem desperately.
“Can I kill him? Please?” The thief asked completely serious.
Atem playfully smacked Bakura’s chest.
“Asshole......No, you can’t kill the grumpy old man. There’s got to be a better way.”
Bakura chuckled evilly as the sun began to rise, bathing them both in morning light.
Atem swallowed hard.
“I need to go now, before I get Yugi in trouble.”
Bakura shook his head and embraced Atem tightly.
“No......you can’t, I don’t want you to.”
Atem forced himself away from Bakura and frowned.
“I’m sorry, love.....but I must. I promise I’ll figure something out. Just remember, Bakura....I
love you.”
Bakura bit his lower lip as Atem turned and began to walk away.
“Wait! Atem......”
Atem stopped and turned back to Bakura.
“What?”
Bakura hopped up and caught up to the Pharaoh. He reached out and cupped Atem’s cheek,
pulling their lips together to claim a parting kiss.
*CLICK!*
*FLASH*
“What the fuck?” Bakura snarled as he whirled around ready to punch somebody.
A man with a camera ran off laughing.
Bakura turned to Atem, his eyes filled with questions.
Atem’s eyes grew dark and serious as the cameraman disappeared.
“Shit.”
Bakura bit his lower lip. He had a pretty good idea as to what had just happened.
