Disclaimer: I do not own YuGiOh!, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Authors notes: This chapter is probably going be one of the
first of the angsty ones, but it will get better in later chapters. As for what
I’m planning, that’s for me to know and for you to find out. I do have a few ideas up my sleeve though.
Disclaimer:
I don’t own Yu-Gi-Oh, or any of the characters mentioned within. I also don’t
own Kamilah. She belongs to Carrie. Yukio Toshi Kaiba is my creation though.
Warning:
Angst, lemon flashback in later chapters. (Possibly chapter 6)
Thank
yous:
Dragon – Once again thank you for reviewing.
I hope you enjoy this chapter as well. I’m sort of running on empty for ideas,
so I’m just winging it right now. And thank you for help with the bed rest
thing too.
Kuro Enkou Nero – I
know you aren’t a big fan of fluffy Seto. But I do thank you for sticking
through this fic and reviewing. I also know you aren’t all gung-ho about
Prideshipping.
mechante fille – Yeah,
I mean Anzu and Ryou. But it’s all good right? As for the palm kissing thing,
Seto does have a habit of doing that. I like it personally.
Dark Magician Girl Aeris – I noticed that too on both counts. Just wait until they get
married. Yami wears the kimono. But that’s not until my next fic.
Random
Prideshipping quote: "Yuugi—my lifelong rival—are you being weak here? The
cards of our souls... the time to give up hasn't come. Our possibility is
sleeping in the cards. Fight, Yuugi. Believe in our deck." – Seto (in the
Japanese version of when Yami is dueling Noa)

Laughter rang throughout the Kaiba
mansion. In the living room, Yami watched Seto chase Kamilah around the room
from the couch, smiling when they passed him for about the tenth time. Just for fun, he cheered Kamilah on. Their
daughter was a fast crawler, but Seto was slowing down just enough so she could
keep ahead.
Once Seto caught her, he dropped to
the ground, tickling her feet and stomach, laughing along with her giggles.
Yami giggled a bit before covering up a hiccup. The baby had become very picky
with what Yami did and ate.
At just under six months, it was surprising
that close to the end of the second trimester that he still got sick when he
ate certain things. Lately it was his ice cream. Seto though, was sharing his
fifth orange creamsicle with Kamilah when she asked for more of it.
“Do you
want to try some, love?” Seto asked, holding out what was left on the Popsicle
stick. Yami shook his head, putting a hand over where the baby had just kicked.
“Your son
doesn’t like ice cream of any sort anymore. Give it to Kami-chan. She seems to
like it.” He covered up another hiccup after speaking.
“He seems
to be very active as of lately, Yami-nii-sama.” Mokuba commented, switching the
channel on the TV to the news.
“Now here’s the New
Kingdom Update: Duelist Moutou Yuugi has resigned from the
Tournament for unknown reasons. Fiancé Bakura Ryou says that he has to go on
bed rest, but gave reporters no more information. Mister Moutou’s
first place position has been given to duelist Jounouchi Katsuya. Third has
been given to an unknown duelist. Stay tuned for more updates on New Kingdom…”
Mokuba
looked over at Yami frowning at his expression.
“I’m sorry,
Yami-nii-sama. I know you were rooting for Yuugi-san.” Mokuba crawled over,
placing a hand on Yami’s knee. The oldest male shook his head, looking over at
Seto.
“It’s not
that. Something isn’t right. The baby stopped moving.” Seto shrugged, tilting
Kamilah back so she was lying on the floor of her play pen.
“Maybe he’s
sleeping.” Seto looked over; a little worried when what Yami had said kicked
in.
“No. He
just stopped moving. Usually he just slows down then stops. He just suddenly
stopped this time.” Seto crawled over, pressing a hand to Yami’s stomach.
“Do you
want to go to the clinic? Just to get checked out?” Yami nodded, placing an arm
around Seto’s shoulders when he placed an arm at the hollow of Yami’s back.
Seto helped Yami from the couch, motioning for Mokuba to get Kamilah out of the
playpen and put her in her car seat for the limo ride.
“I’m sorry
love. I don’t mean to trouble you with this.” Yami looked up, frowning. Seto
only smiled weakly, nuzzling Yami’s head gently.
“It’s
alright. Staying home with you on Saturdays and watching those baby shows while
you sleep is educating. I understand.” Seto smiled for a moment as he helped
him toward the limo.
Yami
nodded, walking out with Seto after putting on his winter jacket. It had
suddenly gotten colder, apparently the winter was adding in one last gasp
before spring finally took hold.

At the
clinic Yami was still worried, and essentially a nervous wreck. Their son had
never been this quiet before, he really didn’t want anything to be wrong. Or
worst case scenario… to have died. He felt bad that Yuugi had to be put on bed
rest this early in his pregnancy, but what about him?
“Mr.
Moutou? The doctor will see you now.” The nurse spoke, smiling softly as she
led Yami and Seto upstairs to a familiar room. It was the same room where they
had been for their first ultrasound.
“So what
seems to be the problem today?” The doctor asked, looking at Yami and Seto for
a moment. He noticed the look on Yami’s face.
Seto held
Yami’s hand with his before looking at the doctor. He was just as concerned as
Yami was, but he was trying not to show it. He was praying that this wasn’t bad
news. He didn’t know how he’d deal with it.
“Well the
baby just stopped moving all of a sudden… and he’s not sleeping. Yami said he
can tell if he is.” Seto sighed softly, watching as Yami got up on the flat bed.
“I see.
Well I can see what’s going on in there for you.” The tech spoke, putting gel
on Yami’s stomach before moving the probe around slowly. He sighed for a
moment, searching for a heartbeat.
“Well...
what is it?” Yami asked, looking at the tech with a worried expression on his
face. He was scared stiff to tell the truth.
“He’s still
alive, and the heart rate is alright for now. But you need to take it easy.
He’s just taking a bit of a breather right now. Have you been eating well?” The
doctor asked.
Seto looked
at Yami for a moment, who in turn looked toward the wall. He knew that his
lover didn’t have the best eating habits. Not now anyway, since he ate just
about everything known to man.
“Not
really. Unless you count pizza with sour cream, Rocky Road ice cream and pickles, and
whatever his newest craving is. Well not
the ice cream anymore since that makes him sick.” Seto replied.
“Well you
do need to better your eating habits, Mr. Moutou. But other than that, I don’t
see anything physically wrong. But for now I’m going to have to put you on bed
rest.” The doctor spoke simply, looking at the two.
“But why
couldn’t I feel our son move though? Are you sure he’s alive?” Yami asked, the worry was still showing in his eyes. However he did nod
in reluctant agreement to the bed rest thing. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea
after all.
“I’m not
sure. It could be a many things, but we’ll have to send you home with a monitor
to keep tabs on the baby. If anything goes wrong at all, we’ll know. And don’t
hesitate to call if you feel something isn’t right.”
Seto
nodded, and then helped Yami up from the table. So now he’d have to have Mokuba
help him with a few things around the house now since Yami was now officially
on bed rest. But he still didn’t understand the reasons for it. Was it high
blood pressure? Stress?
“Oh, and
we’ll have to do weekly check ups for awhile. Now is there a room where he can
rest comfortably? This will have to last the next four months.” The doctor
finished, watching as Seto helped Yami to his feet.
“He can be
in my room; I’ll take the guest room. Besides, I have a master bath and it’s
pretty comfortable in there. Or is that not good?” Seto asked, looking at the
doctor for a moment.
“That’s
fine. But you’ll have to help him for the most part; he won’t be able to do
much for himself now. But I don’t think you’ll have a problem with that right?”
The doctor asked.
Yami looked
at Seto for a moment before putting his jacket back on. He didn’t think it
would be a problem, and he didn’t understand why he had to be in a room that
had a bath. Then it clicked, probably so he’d have easier access instead of
breaking bed rest and going down to the other shower.
“What about
bathing? What can he or can’t he do?” Seto asked, he
didn’t want to take any chances with this at all. If there was anything Yami
couldn’t do… he’d gladly help him in any way possible.
“No
showers. As for bathing, he’ll have to take baths. That’s it. He probably can’t
stand up long enough to take a shower anyway.” The doctor finished, she just
hoped that this was alright with them. It was for the best anyway so no harm
came to Yami or the baby.
“Alright,
thank you. If we have any other questions we’ll be sure to call.” Seto replied
before leading Yami back out into the limo. He made sure to get the baby
monitor that the doctor told him about.
~*~
Back at the
mansion, Seto led Yami upstairs into his room. He made sure that everything was
alright before he fixed up the bed. This hopefully would end up being for the
best and everything would turn out fine.
“Alright, I
think we have everything set. Now we just have to get this baby monitor
attached to you.” Seto started, letting Yami lie down on the bed.
“I know.
And I know that I’ll be like this for quite awhile. You really aren’t going to
mind caring for me right?” Yami asked as he put his feet up. Of course now he
noted his swollen ankles. No wonder it hurt to walk.
“Of course
not. Yami, I’m the one that got you into this mess. The least I can do is help
you with things. Bathing, rubbing your feet… you name it.” Seto replied,
grinning for a moment.
“I could
get used to this…” Yami smiled for a moment before moving his shirt up. He
watched Seto as he attached the monitor to him; this was definitely an odd
feeling. But it was for the best after all.
Seto just
smiled, turning away for a moment. He didn’t want to make things worse.
Besides, it was best if Yami rested for now. The next few months were going to
be interesting to say the least. He just hoped that both he and Yami would be
able to get through it.
Sorry for the short chapter, and sorry for the long time in
uploading it. I had… difficulties to put it lightly. But I promise I won’t take
as long with chapter 6. Until then, please read and review. And as always,
suggestions for plot bunnies are always welcome as well.
