Atem couldn’t find Kaiba. He couldn’t find Ryou either and that meant his worst fears were about to be realized. Bakura was unreasonable on a good day. He might actually try to kill Kaiba if he found him before Joey or he did, and as much as he would probably deserve it, Atem couldn't let that happen.
After the talk they all had last night, he started having similar questions about the curse. Did it really make Joey start to like him or did it just take a barrier away so he could see him differently? Maybe he should go to the museum and read the book. Atem was so lost in his thoughts he almost forgot what he was doing. When he looked up, he saw Bakura leaning against a wall with his back to him, making out with Ryou. Well at least he found one of them. “I hate to interrupt,” Atem said smirking, “but Yuugi is looking for you, Ryou.”
But it wasn’t Ryou and that realization happened just a little too late. Bakura tensed and turned around, Malik on the other side of him. Atem quirked an eyebrow at them at first. A little too stunned by what he saw, then he got mad. He might not like Bakura but Ryou loved him and Atem had respected that. But this was just unforgivable! He squared his shoulders and started to yell when Malik jumped in between them. “It’s alright, Atem. Ryou knows!”
“W-what?”
“Ryou knows,” Bakura growled, “Not that it’s any of your damn business.”
“So Yuugi’s looking for Ryou?” Malik forced a smile and pointed to the school basement. “He went to get some more soda for Mr. Smith.”
Bakura turned to look at the basement door, then Atem, then the sun, then the door again, and when he looked back at him, Atem thought he was going to attack him. “Malik,” he said turning to Malik and grabbing him by the throat, “if I find in there what I think I’m going to, you’re ass is in a lot of trouble.”
Malik looked completely confused, which was understandable, but Atem also got the distinct impression that Malik wanted Bakura to grab him by the neck. Suddenly, Atem regretted ever saying anything to either of them. “Me? What did I do?” Malik kept his hand on Bakura’s even when he released him and started walking over to the basement door.
“You lost a game to an incompetent asshole that I told you not to talk to in the first place, remember?”
“Oh I remember. I also remember you don’t want me to talk to him because you’re jealous. So I’m going to keep doing it.”
Bakura stopped at the door and glared at Malik’s smug grin. Now Atem felt really uncomfortable. If it wasn’t dealing with Bakura and Malik’s thrown-in-his-face relationship, it was dealing with what was on the other side of that door. Bakura knew just as well as he did what they’d see, but he REALLY didn't want to see it. Bakura pounded on the door three times, never breaking eye contact with Malik. He paused for maybe two seconds then kicked the door open.
---------
Kaiba thought about how illegal it would be to keep Ryou locked up in his bedroom for the rest of his life. It would only be illegal if he got caught. Then again, if he was caught, Bakura would kill him after years and years of agonizing torture. The thought of that was daunting, but he did have this curse thing. Maybe he wouldn’t be tortured to death. On the other hand, he’d have to do this with Bakura and that was a torturous thought in and of itself.
“Fuck that feels so good.” He gasped, watching Ryou on his knees in front of him.
Ryou moaned around his cock, stuffed deep into his mouth. Seto was sure he’d never seen anything so beautiful in his life. Ryou knelt down on the ground, looking up into his eyes with his mouth full and eyes black with need. Saliva dripped from his chin and glistened off his swollen lips. Kaiba threw his head back against the metal shelves and moaned.
Ryou’s mouth felt so good. Everything he was doing with his mouth felt so good. He wondered where Ryou learned to do this since he was so damn good at it! It had to be from Bakura. He could just see it; Bakura making sure Ryou did exactly what he wanted him to, when he wanted him to do it. Kaiba would kill to be able to make Ryou do exactly what he wanted him to, when he wanted him to do it. Maybe he could lock both of them in his bedroom for life. Then he could do this all the time. What else do they know how to do? They could do that all the time.
Ryou grabbed his hand and put it on the back of his head. He made him grip his hair. Then he took more of him into his mouth, keeping his hand on Kaiba’s to make sure he brought him as close as he could. He moved back and did it again, but this time Kaiba was watching him. He couldn’t look away, and he got the idea.
“You want me to fuck your mouth?”
Ryou took more of him into his mouth again and moaned, sending delicious vibrations through him. Who was he to argue? So he tightened his grip on Ryou’s hair and did just that.
Watching himself slide in and out of Ryou’s mouth reminded him of his dreams. Pale skin, labored breathing, lust filled eyes. He wondered for a moment if he was Ryou. The only way he’d know for sure was to hear Ryou say that phrase, but how could he when his mouth was full? Stuffed full. As much as he really wanted to hear his voice again, he had no intention of stopping. So he just remembered, as he closed his eyes and chased after the pleasure welling up inside him. Remembered him begging, remembered him moaning, "I need you...inside me...make me cum."
Kaiba’s eyes flew open as he came hard into Ryou’s mouth. He pulled him closer, as close as he could. He wanted to cum deep in him and Ryou moaned in pleasure from his roughness. Or at least he tried to moan, it sounded more like a choked gasp. Kaiba loved the sound. He held him still for a while, trying to catch his breath until Ryou put his hands on Kaiba’s hips. He pushed him back, letting Kaiba slip out of his mouth. He then licked his lips and smirked up at him. “Feel better?”
Kaiba scoffed and shook his head. “Give me a minute,” he panted, “I’m sure I’ll be miserable again.”
“Hopefully not a minute. Maybe 10.”
Kaiba just smirked at him, trying to catch his breath. “What about you?”
Ryou’s grin was almost criminal. “Don’t worry about me. I’m feeling a lot better.”
“Then you better get out of here. It doesn’t last long.”
“I know,” he whispered and gripped Kaiba’s hips tighter, pulling himself up to kiss him.
Up until this exact moment Kaiba was just frustrated with the curse. It was annoying, maddening to say the least, and inconvenient. It was also sloppy, he’d decided; degrading and humiliating. If he had to admit it, he might even say it was exciting, but at no point in time was it ever personal. Ryou’s swollen wet lips against his was personal. The taste of himself on Ryou’s tongue was personal. The gentle caress of his fingers in Kaiba’s hair was personal. Everything he was doing now was personal. So when he leaned back to look into Kaiba’s eyes one more time, he was positive he was blushing.
“We’re going to get you back to normal Kaiba. Just hang in there.”
He didn’t trust his voice, so he just nodded.
Ryou started to say something else when they heard someone pounding on the door. Kaiba didn’t need to be told who that was and darted out from under Ryou, around the shelving units, towards the back of the basement. He barely got his pants buttoned and zipped before the door flew open.
Kaiba pressed his back against the metal shelf and held his breath.
“Hello, sir,” Ryou said, making Kaiba frown. Maybe it wasn’t Bakura.
“Don’t start sweet talkin’ me, Ryou. Where is he?”
“I don’t know who you could be talking about, sir.”
Someone who sounded like Malik snickered.
Bakura growled, “Do you really want to stick with that ‘no one’s here’ bit, bunny?”
No one said anything and Kaiba felt guilty. Maybe he should move and help Ryou, but the more he thought about it, the more he realized he couldn’t help him. Nothing he could do would make this any better. It bothered him that Ryou did that, sacrificed himself for him. Now he was furious and felt guilty, and he still couldn't move.
Someone walked further into the basement and Kaiba tensed up against the metal shelf. “I don’t think he is here, Bakura,” Atem said, “We’d know.”
Bakura scoffed and knocked over the metal shelf next to him, sending everything clattering to the floor. “He’s here and if I see him again, I’m going to kill him. Do you hear that Kaiba!?”
He stayed perfectly still against the metal shelf.
“Come on Bakura. He’s not here anymore,” Malik said and Kaiba heard more footsteps, but they sounded like they were leaving.
He stayed there and waited until he heard the door shut. Now what was he supposed to do? So he slid down the shelf to the floor and slammed his head against it. Could this get any worse? He exhaled audibly and glared at the dirt covered concrete. He sat there for a while, cooling down. Even if the floor was mostly dirt, it helped. Just when he started to put his hands on the ground to push himself up, he heard a noise in front of him.
“Interesting.”
Kaiba jumped what felt like a foot in the air and gasped. Then he glared at Atem, standing over him with a strange smirk. “What the hell are you doing here Atem?”
“I was going to ask you the same thing.”
“I don’t need to explain anything I do to you,” he growled and stood up. “Why aren’t you hovering around Yuugi?”
“I was looking for Ryou.”
“Congratulations. You found him. Leave me the hell alone.” He turned away and stomped towards the basement door.
“I don’t understand you, Kaiba.”
It was a weird thing to say, after all, he wasn’t really himself right now. Well maybe right now he was, but not in general. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You followed Ryou down here, willingly.”
Kaiba didn’t know what to say to that.
“And from what Joey was saying, you stayed there to be with him too. Willingly.”
“I’m not doing anything willingly,” he spat, turning around to face him, “And what the hell are you doing? You’re not wearing that medalion thing anymore. How long do you think you’re safe?”
Atem smiled at him. Actually smiled at him; like what he’d said was a great joke. Atem’s smile resembled Ryou’s just before Bakura got there. Something between an emotion he had no idea what it was called and maybe pity or sympathy. He didn’t really know. This was all very new to him and now it was personal again. “Stop looking at me like that.”
He didn’t. “You’re safe to leave, Kaiba. Bakura took Ryou and Malik home.”
“Home?”
Atem nodded, making his way over to Kaiba and the door. “I didn’t ask why because I really don’t want to know.”
“That makes both of us.”
-------
Yuugi, Joey and Tea were horrible. Their shimmering eyes while Atem told them where he’d been made him laugh. He insisted not to tell them more until they got back to the shop, so, as soon as they stepped in the door, Tea and Yuugi hopped up on the counter and demanded answers. He told them everything that happened again, but he honestly didn’t know how to answer some of their questions.
“And you didn’t notice anything while you were there?” Yuugi asked, swinging his feet, “Is the curse gone?”
“I don’t think so.”
“So what do you think happened?” Tea scooted closer to Yuugi, swinging her feet too. “Do you think Ryou and he… well, you know?”
“I don’t know and I don’t want to know. All I know is he was normal when I got there.”
Yuugi frowned and tilted his head. “I wonder what Bakura would have done if he wasn’t normal.”
“I really don’t want to know that either, Aibou.”
“And if it were just him and Malik, instead of you there Atem.” Tea waved him off like he wasn’t part of the conversation and turned to look at Yuugi. “Do you think they would have had the same kind of motivation to leave?”
Atem just stared at them, not believing they were having this conversation.
“Like how do ya mean?” Joey asked, matching Yuugi’s frown and tilted head as he leaned on the counter beside Yuugi.
“I mean, Bakura and Ryou obviously aren’t against having someone else in the bedroom, right? Do you think Bakura would have been mad like he was or would he have just went with it?”
“Oooo that’s a great question!” Yuugi smiled at her and Atem shook his head.
He muttered about how Yuugi was insatiable under his breath in Egyptian before turning to leave the shop. He was tired. It was a long day and he already had a lot on his mind aside from Yuugi and Tea’s vivid imagination. He climbed the stairs and walked into the bedroom he shared with Yuugi. It felt very small now with two beds in it, but they didn’t mind. Bastet laid at the foot of his bed, much to his chagrin. So he ignored her and climbed into bed around her. No use arguing with a cat. Yuugi told him that several times already.
Once he laid down and turned the light off, he stared up at the ceiling with a sigh. Kaiba actually seemed to be himself while in the basement. He wasn’t sure for how long since he left shortly afterwards, but Atem didn’t feel the strange pull like he’d felt before. Instead he felt something else and that bothered him. He was no closer to figuring out if the curse had control over their feelings or not, but he did know Joey wasn’t the only one feeling it.
Maybe that was because Kaiba really thought he was in some way hurting them. Little did he know, Yuugi, Tea and Joey were down stairs having a detailed conversation about his ‘situation’ with a great deal of curiosity and interest. They weren’t put off by it at all. Something in him felt like Ryou had a similar reaction. Maybe that’s why he took such a great risk; or perhaps Yuugi and Tea were right and Ryou wasn’t too worried about Bakura’s reaction. Maybe it wasn’t a risk as much as an experiment. Even he, whether he wanted to admit it aloud or not, wouldn’t mind. He wasn’t hurting them, but Atem didn’t really know how to tell Kaiba that without it coming out wrong. Suddenly he felt a familiar foreboding feeling in his chest just thinking about it. He couldn’t talk to Kaiba any more than he could talk to Yuugi about things like this.
Bastet stood up from her spot at the foot of the bed and stretched. Then she looked at him and blinked slowly, before crawling over top of him to lay on his chest. She purred and looked down at him, much like he’d expect from a cat goddess. He scoffed and reached up to scratch behind her ears. “I’m still angry with you.”
She continued to purr and it made him smile. Scratching behind her ears actually made him feel better; angry with her or not.
------
The hallway tilted to the side, kind of like a fun house or a ship in rough seas. He kept following the cat, sharp as a tack against the faded walls that he somehow managed to fall into every now and then. He really hoped she’d take him to him again. After today, he had to see him again.
This time, the hallway didn’t have any doors and he grew more disappointed by the minute. Then the hallway stopped and the cat disappeared. He pushed on the walls but nothing moved. So he turned around and leaned against the wall like he’d done in the basement. “I just want to see him again,” he whispered in dismay, sliding down the wall to sit on the ground.
He rubbed the bridge of his nose, feeling like an idiot. Why was he so damn important? He was just a dream. But he wasn’t just a dream, he was the best Kaiba had ever had and he wanted to see him again. He sighed to himself, disappointed with how unreasonable he was being, when he heard someone talking to him. “Don’t give up on me.”
He looked up but no one was there. “Hello?”
“Is he the only one you want?”
Kaiba stood up and followed the voice back down the hallway. A door he hadn’t seen before sat ajar to his left, and as he got closer it opened. Everything inside the room was black, but somehow sharp. In the center of the room was the cat. “Were you talking to me?”
The cat blinked slowly and wagged its tail almost impatiently. “I’ll take that as a no.” He sighed and started to walk toward it again.
Then out of the darkness a hand grabbed his. Then another hand grabbed him and another and another. The cat hissed and growled, her fur standing on end but it didn’t look like she was angry with the hands, she was angry with him specifically. When she stalked forward, he felt he was pulled into the darkness and there was nothing he could do.
He found it strange, in that moment, that he wasn’t afraid of the hands or the dark or even of the cat; he was consumed solely with thoughts of finding him. The more he focused on that, the further away the cat was. Then it disappeared entirely, leaving him in a room he recognized. The one with the silk sheets and the gentle breeze. He had to be here!
Kaiba started to get up when someone wrapped their arms around him from behind, holding him still. “Don’t go.”
Kaiba tried to turn around to see who it was, but someone else caught his attention. He was there! He moved from somewhere behind Kaiba to his front and climbed into his lap, straddling him. He was soaked with sweat and oil and he felt almost feverish to the touch. Kaiba tried to look at his face, but he couldn’t quite see him. Faded and fuzzy like everything else. Everything except for their bodies. Kaiba could clearly see that. He could clearly see how hard they both were and the glisten of sweat now on his own skin too. Then Kaiba felt lips on his shoulders and neck from who ever held him there; just as wet, just as hot.
“We missed you.”
Kaiba wanted to see him too. He tried to look back but every time he did, he would lift his chin and devour his mouth. That was what he wanted, after all. He wanted him, and letting him do with him as he pleased was an enticing thought. Besides, Kaiba trusted him. Whoever it was behind him, trusted them too, and that was evident by the way he put his hands on Kaiba’s neck to make him lean back while he slid Kaiba inside of him. Kaiba wanted to see it. He wanted to see himself disappearing into his perfect ass, but having that taken away just made him hotter and he couldn’t stop himself from moaning.
“I need you… I need this,” he moaned, grinding his hips into Kaiba, “make me cum.”
Kaiba put one of his hands on his hips, so he could feel him riding him since he couldn’t see it. Then he put his other hand on the one that held his neck. The one behind him, kissed and licked his neck, then bit down on his shoulder. Kaiba arched his back and let himself enjoy everything he was feeling. Every kiss, every rock of his hips, every gasp and moan, just everything. And he was almost there…
“Make me cum,” he moaned, and Kaiba could feel how close he was by how frantic his movements were, “I need to-to…”
And just like that, he disappeared. One blink and they were both gone, leaving Kaiba laying back in his room with his alarm clock blaring again. He gasped and panted, feeling like he was really there in the room at one point. His skin cooled where he was on top of him just moments before. But there was no one in the room.
Covered in sweat and the sheets stuck to him making it difficult for him to twisted over to slam his hand down on his alarm clock. When he did manage to finally get it to stop, he rolled back onto his back and shoved his hand down his pants. He came almost the instant he grabbed himself, and curled into his bed, cursing into his pillows.
It took him a while to calm his racing heart and finally move. This was getting ridiculous, not to say that the last few days weren’t ridiculous, but being this involved in a dream was just crazy. He screwed his eyes shut and rolled onto his back again. But he felt so real, both of them. They had to be real.
Kaiba climbed out of bed and took a cold shower. After that dream and the day he had yesterday, he needed it.
