Chapter 5: Seize
"What have you done with him?" demanded Yami through a feral snarl.
"Oh? What makes you think I'd tell you?" The voice of Bakura asked teasingly with a smirk on his lips as he stepped out of the shadows to reveal who it truly is who had come to greet them upon finding the correct warehouse this time to descend down the stairs to the basement level where there's an entryway into the crypts.
"Can't you give us some hints?" asked Ryou hopefully even though he knew that it wouldn't be that easy.
"I could, but I have the feeling if I revealed too much your boyfriend over there will claw me to bits," sneered the silverette.
"He's not mine," spluttered out Ryou in exasperation with a blush coating his cheeks. "You know that."
"He does, and he also knows the only one I want is Yugi," murmured the shifter with a bit of annoyance in his voice.
"Is there a time when you're not being a complete ass?" Asked Ryou towards his yami while he glared daggers at him as wellwho chuckle in amusement from this.
"Nope, and you love it," teased Bakura as if this is all just a game to him. "Though I doubt I could accept you now that you're a dirty mangey mutt. I could never have a pitiful excuse for a shifter being intimate with me. That's one of the reasons why I found someone better to turn into my kind."
"You son of a bitch!" exclaimed Yami in anger before he pounced on the silverette which made them collapse in a tangled heap on the ground.
"What? Is little Ryou too afraid of me to fight his own battles?" taunted Bakura, knowing exactly how to get under anyone's skin, while he is trying to get the tricolored haired man off of him who seemed to be starting to claw at his face leaving red scratches in his wake.
"Shut up," the whitette growled as he felt tempted to join Yami in teaching his yami a lesson.
What seemed to be holding him back, is that the thief is on top of Yami. He could move behind to attack his back. That is an option if the two rolled over. Although it didn't mean he needed to take it. This time he had a choice in whether he'd help or not. Knowing the fact that he should do something meant he needed to make an instinctual decision because he sure as hell couldn't stand there forever. Of course he knew for a fact going up against his other half isn't the best idea. He had nothing else even though this is foolish. He didn't care right now. He moved over to keep Bakura on the ground as he used his weight on the silverette's back. Though he knew this wouldn't be enough, he brought out the Millennium Ring that could elongate its spikes before he began to let it tear through the material of his shirt. Soon enough it ended up hitting against the pale skin. This made an enraged hiss leave his lips at knowing his hikari is going against him. A glimmer of unfamiliar emotion arose in those dark eyes. Bakura knew that he could control his light half easily if he felt it necessary to do so. He just had to find the right way to make Ryou get off of him. He looked up until their gazes are locked with their wills battling against one another.
"Don't give in," growled Yami sternly as he knew what Bakura's trying to do to try to foil his plans.
"I-I know," replied Ryou through gritted teeth as he could feel himself slipping away little by little. "I'm not sure if I can fight him."
"Try," said Yami in still a stern voice, not wanting him to give up so soon when he believed in Ryou's strength prevailing against the thief's. "You're stronger than that. If you falter for a second then you're the fool I always thought you were. It will make me regret having changed you. So don't you dare say you can't fight him because I know that you can stop him?"
Ryou nodded, "Yeah, I'll do my best."
"Do you really think you're stronger than me? Do you forget which part of you I am?" Asked Bakura as if it were common sense, noticing his tone is in a low purr.
"No, have you?" He retorted as he started to shove the shadows away from him. "I'm never letting you do that to me again. Not after what happened last time."
"You say that, but I can see all of your darkest desires within the shadow of your heart," Bakura told him with a smirk as he knew he made him falter for a split second which had given him the opportunity to let the darkness envelope his soul.
"No, I won't let you control me again!" Ryou cried out in protest as he fought frantically to get out of the tight grasp that is slowly surrounding him. "I can't!"
"You must," he said in a soft whisper. "Don't you realize? I've been waiting for this to return to me. Don't you remember the first time you conjured me? You gave me life. I became real for you. If you only cease this struggling I can give you everything you've ever wanted."
"You're lying," he said as he's trying his hardest not to believe the truth, feeling a few tears prick at the corners of his eyes.
"Oh, my dear Yadonushi, don't you see? You can never get rid of me," he replied with a light chuckle before tossing Yami off of him. "This is between me and him, Pharaoh. Stay there for now. I'll give you some information when I'm done."
"Fine," sighed Yami as he stood aside for the newly turned shifter and aged leech to deal with whatever they needed to settle between them.
"N-No, I refuse," said Ryou as he backed away from him.
"I know I said I could never allow a dirty little shifter to be intimate with me, but I suppose I can make an exception since you are my hikari after all. It would be foolish of me to reject you. Obviously I can't have myself fuck things up another time for good," mused Bakura thoughtfully.
"That doesn't prove you're telling the truth or selling more of your lies," shot back Ryou in response with a light glare, not backing down while standing his ground against someone that made him feel conflicting emotions towards.
"Now, why would I lie to you?" asked Bakura innocently. "I have no reason to at the moment. What I have said so far to you has not been tainted with empty promises."
Feeling wary about this whole thing between him and Bakura, He knew that he couldn't hold out for much longer. He also knew that his yami is right even though he didn't want to admit it. In some way or another he is. There's no way around this that he couldn't deny it. Sure he could, but what good would that do? Releasing a frustrated sigh, Ryou isn't able to lash out at him because his wrist is still in his vice like grip to ensure he wouldn't cause any fatal damage to his other half. The Ring had fallen from his hand to clatter to the floor. He's not defenseless yet, but he's nearing pretty close to that point. The previous words spoken to him are still running in his mind. No matter what he couldn't ignore them. They kept circling until he couldn't take it anymore. Trying to wrench his wrist away from Bakura proved to not be a privilege granted. Somehow he's stuck in place with his eyes transfixed on those ruby coals that darkened with emotions he had never seen before. He wondered what that is supposed to mean. Unable to comprehend all of what Bakura could possibly be feeling at this precise moment does bother him. Most likely it's because the thief rarely let down his walls. What he did know is the gist of it.
"I know not to trust anything you say," Ryou replied while he is unable to avert his gaze from that domineering stare of his.
"Hmmm, good. It seems you have some sense in you," murmured Bakura in a pleased manner. "I still haven't received an answer for my offer. You could have anything you ever needed, dove. Just say the word."
"Don't listen to him," called out Yami, wanting to make sure Ryou made the right choice.
"Silence, this isn't your decision," hissed Bakura at the shifter with a glare filled with murderous intent.
"I know," the brit assured while he's still enduring the inner struggle between his light and his yami's darkness. "You know as he does that one of the duties of a hikari is to be there for the other half. No matter what has transpired over time. I must go with him to help change him otherwise I will be his slave for eternity."
"No, Ryou, don't do this," Yami pleaded with desperation in his eyes. "I can't lose another person to him."
"You're not losing me," assured Ryou with a small smile. "I am doing this to see if I can change the evil from him. If I cannot then I will try to help Yugi if I see him. You know we still have that mind link of ours. As long as a part of us is connected we will never be parted."
I cannot let him sacrifice himself. I know he is doing this for a right cause, but I hate seeing those I actually care about leaving me. I don't want to be alone for all of the countless years. I won't let Bakura win, Yami thought as he stood there watching one of the few people he called a friend putting himself in this sort of situation to assist his own light. I know you will be fine, but I cannot help worrying slightly. There's no telling what may occur to him while he stays with the thief.
Sighing in resignation, Yami gave him a few parting words, "I know. I hope you succeed."
"Thanks," said Ryou with a light smile this time, wanting to ease Yami's worries as much as he possibly could.
"Have you decided yet?" asked Bakura as he pulled the whitette until he's flush against his chest.
"Yes," Ryou answered quietly, shivering at being in up close and personal contact with him. "I will accept what you have offered me. But if I join you, then you must give Yugi back to him."
Bakura glanced at Yami for a moment. He's contemplating about whether or not he should agree to this request. Thinking it over for a little while he had been the one to capture the shrimp after all. It's his decision to make. He could allow this to have Ryou be with him or he could deny it. Another path is that he could always end up using the latter of the two to keep both of them for himself. Pursing his lips as he pondered which lane he should take he knew that he had tormented Yugi less than he has his own hikari, but he did feel a slight tad reluctant to let him go. Glancing over again to gaze into Ryou's chocolate almond gaze he saw in it something he would never see in someone's expression. What he saw is understanding and acceptance there. He felt a tendril of trepidation stopping him. Opening his mouth no words came out at first, but he closed it before opening again. He cleared his throat as he finally knew who and what he wanted.
"Fine, if it means having you with me I shall release him. He is in the room two doors down from this one. You should retrieve him now, Pharaoh. He is a creature of the night now. He is used to you, but you do realize this changes everything," he said before ushering the werewolf to leave them alone for a few minutes or so.
Yami nodded as he quickly stepped out of the room. That left the two alone together to get requainted with one another. Ryou is still clutched firmly against Bakura. He guessed this is to be expected from his revelation of sorts. Looking up hesitantly he isn't sure what this would mean. He knew that the higher ranked creatures of this area might not like this. It made him wonder if the thief could be thinking of this as well. It could prove to be a later battle to trudge through. They had the feeling that nothing could tear them apart now that they have been reunited for good. The same went for the other two of course. Though they wouldn't be expecting someone had been watching the whole exchange. That certain person had been out of sight and their aura is masked. None of the four men knew there had been someone there.
It took a while before Yami re-entered the room. He's accompanied by the starfish that he lost some time ago to finally have him back by his side once more. Hopefully it would be for good now even though there's no telling how things will unfold from here on out considering they're of different species. The Pharaoh had an arm around Yugi's shoulders, feeling pleased to have him back once more. Obviously their troubles are far from being even close to over yet. There would most likely be riots or whatever due to different races having relationships. Of course they are more than prepared for such a situation to occur.
"I see you found him," stated Bakura when noticing the two had returned. "You know this isn't over. The Elders won't be pleased with this."
"I know, but I don't care," said Yami as he pulled his hikari into a protective hold against him. "No one is taking what belongs to me ever again."
Yugi shifted on his feet nervously. He's not sure if he should be glad or not to be back with him. Supposedly he is considering it did feel better than being with the thief of all people. Besides he felt he belonged to Yami. He didn't want to be separated from him. Looking up into that dark yet warm gaze he knew that he's safe at last. He hoped nothing else would tear him away from the one person who kept him from going into a downward spiral. He had always thought he should never give up because he had people searching for him. He didn't know until now how important this man is to him. It's something that he should've known for a long time now. There's a part of him that does feel ashamed it had taken many years for him to figure this out.
"W-What will happen now?" asked Yugi quietly.
"We will return home," answered Yami softly, knowing the den should be just as he had left it. "When we do we have some catching up to do."
"Remember to take him out hunting with you," Bakura told him. "He's still new to this."
"I know, as is Ryou. He will have his first shift in two or three days. Be there for him when it happens," Yami said sternly to the thief before taking one of Yugi's hands in his own. "We'll see each other again soon enough."
"Indeed we will," Bakura said in agreement.
The four finished their farewells before going their separate ways. They would part for now, but they would never truly be without their friends. They'd always have each other. Even in the toughest trials each of them could feel the other's spirit. It would never matter what the cost took to help either of them out. Their thoughts stayed with them as they departed for their homes. Unknown to them this is only the beginning.

A figure lone stepped out of the shadows in the room the four had been in a while ago. Who this person is would be one of the Elders of the Vampire Race. His eyes glowed an eerie crimson while a smirk curved his lips. He had witnessed the entire scene from a vantage point where none of them could sense him. He had been undetected, figuring it had worked after all. Contemplating to himself about this situation he decided that he would need to meet with one of the Elders of the Shifters. They would need to have a serious discussion about this recent development. That could be arranged later. Right now, he needed to speak with the others of his own race before traveling to have word with an alpha. Strolling out of the room before walking down the hall he didn't stop until he entered the meeting chamber. Calling the other Elders in, Aknadin began to explain why he had ushered for them all to come in here which caused them to be torn away from whatever they had been doing previously.
"We have a problem," Aknadin began which had caused them to murmur in whispers wondering what this is about. "One of our kind has started a relationship with a shifter."
"No, this cannot be," one of them gasped in surprise at hearing the tragic news. "Do you know who it is?"
"It's Bakura," he answered simply.
"It's known from the start he would do this. You knew it as well," another of them spoke up with a hardened gaze meaning he knew exactly what he is talking about.
Aknadin sighed, "I know. There are drastic measures we must make to protect our kind from those mangey dogs who will only taint us."
"So close off all of the exits," said one of them calmly. "It shall be done. None of them shall enter our domain."
"It has happened before if you've forgotten," chided the obsidian haired male. "Don't lower your guard for anything. Even though the exits shall be shut close, it won't leave our minds that it is possible for a mutt to trespass within the passageways."
The others nodded in agreement. They are then dispersed to carry out their duties as the meeting came to an abrupt close. The exits leading to the outside world are closed off. They are sealed with the overbearing darkness. Though they didn't know there's one of that specific kind. None of them knew the truth nor could they sense it. This is because of obvious reasons. Perhaps not ones they could grasp at the moment. They hadn't even searched their own caverns before sealing off the ways to escape. All of the other beings of the night are concealed inside of the surrounding area.
"That should hold that brat in here for a while," murmured Aknadin to himself.
There is a clatter of quick footsteps approaching him. There seemed to be an aggravated snarl coming from the person's lips. It took little time before the wild silver haired male appeared. He's in a frustrated state upon noticing the precautions made. Indeed he's definitely tempted to strangle the old codger when he saw him. His eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as he stared at Aknadin. He's barely keeping himself in check. That's how much his emotions are about to spill over. His leash on them is slowly unraveling. He isn't sure how long he could keep it under control when he had this bastard to deal with. He knew that the Elder is smirking at him. Did he think this is just some sort of game? Is he supposed to be like a child? He is more than that considering he offered different aspects to the race that the others did not. Bakura knows that he's one of the few ancients around here.
"What? Did I do something to annoy you? Or did something vile just crawl up your dusty ass and die?" Asked Bakura with venom dripping off each word that showed his anger at the situation presented before him.
"Don't act cute with me, Touzoku. I saw your little encounter with those fools earlier. You know we cannot allow you to be with a shifter. It doesn't matter if he is your other half. You know the rules," hissed Aknadin in response, challenging him in more ways than one.
"If you know me as well as you claim then you should know I don't follow rules. I break them," he sneered with his lip curling into a vicious snarl.
Aknadin held a smirk on his lips before replying, "I do, Bakura. You should know by now you shouldn't backstab your kin. I'm assuming you came to knock me off my perch of power."
"No, I know why we're cooped inside now," he growled with a flash of a deep shade of onyx within his eyes. "You're after what is mine. You won't take it from me. No one can. Besides if someone does then I'll go as well. That is only if he dies. You don't want that to happen, now do you?"
"No I don't, but you fail to recognize how things are done in the world we live in," Aknadin countered.
Bakura smirked as he taunted, "Oh I know. Are you speaking about the way things used to be or how it is now?"
"Nothing has changed!" Shouted the man with rage filling those calm desolate eyes of his that bored straight into a person's soul.
"Keep saying that, and I'll start thinking you're a bit more insane than I thought," the silverette muttered.
"Has anyone told you that you should watch your tongue around your Elders?" Aknadin snapped in annoyance.
"Yes, but I never listened," replied Bakura casually as if they were having a normal conversation instead of fighting.
"That's probably because no one forced you to," he said darkly before chains are attached to the silverette's wrists swiftly so he wouldn't be able to run out of the room. "Now you are going to be here for a while. I will beat the guidelines of this coven into you until you finally understand. Am I making myself clear?"
"Unfortunately yes, but you seem to forget I've been through hell and back more times than you can count. Do your worst. I don't give a fuck," Bakura spat as he glared fiercely with a ferocious defiance into that cold impassive stare.
"That's exactly what I plan to do," he replied although before anything could happen another figure rushed in.
"'Kura, what's going on?" The whitette known as Ryou asked in concern.
"No, go back. I can't let you get caught now," murmured Bakura worriedly when he had noticed his hikari had come in here recklessly as he probably didn't think that there is an Elder standing only a few steps away eager to slaughter him with ease.
"Let him stay," Aknadin said without hesitation when he had noticed the shifter had come in hoping to rescue his other half. "I'm sure it will be easier to break you now. Your precious Yadonushi came to retrieve you. Unfortunately it won't be as easy as it seems. Besides if he's harmed I'm sure you can feel his agony. Haven't you done so in the past?"
"Enough, don't you dare harm him!" Bakura growled at hearing the threats. "I told you do what you want with me. Leave him out of this. He has nothing to do with you beating the rules into me."
"Oh, but you seem to forget he does. You went against the oldest law within the lands," Aknadin said dryly. "You fell in love with someone of another race. Do you think that injustice against our kind will go unpunished?"
"Yes, I thought you would be civil people instead of outright bastards," replied the thief bitterly.
"You should know by now," Aknadin chided. "Our kind isn't fair about anything."
"No, it's only you idiotic Elders who are like that," the silverette retorted as he knew that he's right about this. "It's not just me who thinks that we can rise up against all of you."
"Oh? Who else is as foolish as you are to go against me and the others?" Aknadin asked with a brow raised.
"I don't see why I should tell you," he replied with a scowl. "You don't deserve any answers from me."
"It's almost a shame you won't simply obey me," he said somberly as if he's actually disappointed when Bakura knows better than that. "Both of you shall be subjected to every kind of torment imaginable. If you think you've endured agony before......what I have in mind is greater than you've ever encountered."
"You don't scare me," ryou said as he's trying to be brave in front of his other half.
"Ry, you don't know what you're saying," sighed Bakura even though he did appreciate the courage his light had while standing up towards a superior force.
"Nope, but it's better than nothing," he replied with the faint ghost of a smile.
"I wonder about you sometimes," Bakura muttered under his breath.
"Yeah, you say that all the time," shrugged Ryou, not fazed by it.
'I guess since you have me as your dark side, it's to be expected," he murmured.
"You should know by now," huffed Ryou.
"If you two ladies are done prattling, I believe you have somewhere to be carried off to," Aknadin cut in casually before a few armed vampires trudged in to escort the unwilling prisoners to their cell.
The door is locked once the two males are shoved inside. They are left alone. They shared a troubled look. Neither of them knew what would happen except the implications they had been given not that long ago. What Bakura assumed is the torture wouldn't start right away. He supposed they would have to wait. There's no telling as to when the first round would be starting or what it would consist of. Wrapping an arm around Ryou to pull him close, he tried giving him some comfort in their unfortunate situation. They also shared their heat while they are stuck in the interminable silence. Nothing could break it and didn't want to. Sometimes it's best to take comfort in being with each other. Both of them felt this would take a long time for anyone to get used to the new predicament. What Bakura hoped is that his so called friends would come up with a rescue strategy in case he somehow isn't able to get them out of here on his own. He knew they would hear of what Aknadin has done this time. It would take a couple of days because it took time to plan things perfectly. There could be no screw ups when dealing with an Elder. Wondering as to why they had to have such foolish ideals they are ancient by his standards. What has been written in the scriptures as law can be broken and changed.
A/N: Yays! Done with chappie five! Damn, I got this done today too. I'm very pleased to see this progressing oh so well with the re-writing process. It's just changing names, figuring out what scenes to keep and remove, etc. which is really fun. This is one of my stories that has and still remains one of my favorites. Hopefully y'all enjoyed what happened this time.
The next chappie will be out shortly whenever it's finished being re-written. Until then please remember to review darlings
