Chapter Six
I watch the wall
around me crumble
But it’s not like I
won’t build them up again.
So here’s your last
chance for redemption
So take it while it
lasts cuz it will end.
My tears are turning
into time
I’ve wasted trying to
find a reason for goodbye
I can’t live without
you
Can’t breathe without
you
I’m dreaming ‘bout you
Honestly tell me that
it’s over
Cuz if the world keeps
spinning
And I’m still living
It won’t be right if
we’re not in it together
Tell me that’s its
over
And I’ll be the first
to go.
The room Yami shared with Seto was a mess. Clothes and other
possessions were scattered haphazardly around the room, while Yami rushed to
pack them all. Mokuba wandered into the room, staring in horrified silence as
the distressed woman struggled to pack.
“Yami, what are you doing?” he asked. Yami continued to
pack, refusing to answer him.
“Yami,” he repeated. “What are you doing?”
“Packing.” He replied.
“I can see that. Why are you packing?”
“I can’t stay here anymore Mokuba. I’m moving back in with
Aibou.”
Mokuba knew there was only one reason why Yami would feel
the need to move out. Seto. Only and always Seto.
“Please stay Yami. I know you two can work things out.” He
pleaded. Yami ceased activity for a moment and hung his head.
“I tried.” The words hung in the air ominously. “And he made
his decision. Now I’m making mine.”
Mokuba watched in shock as Yami took off the exquisite
platinum band that surrounded his left ring finger and set it down on the
nearby desk. He grabbed his back and rushed out of the room, not before pausing
to pull Mokuba into a giant hug.
“I would have loved to have you as a little brother,” he
whispered into his unruly black hair. He let go and walked down the stairs.
Mokuba heard the front door slam with a sense of finality. His grey eyes
watered with tears he refused to shed. He ran downstairs and called for a
driver to take him to Kaiba Corp.

The sounds of loud music filled the air. Bright lights were
flashing and feet were stomping. Yuugi and Jounouchi were playing In The
Groove. When the song ended, Yuugi collapsed on the floor in a heap, Jounouchi
beside him.
“My god, the songs are longer than Dance Dance Revolution.
I’m wiped out!” he panted.
“Me too,” Jounouchi agreed. “Man, you’re a genius, buying
that ITg machine for the game shop was awesome. Sales have gone up since you
got that thing, and you get to play it whenever you want!”
Yuugi smiled and reached for his water bottle. “Yeah, it was
pretty smart huh? Yami loves this thing. He got me hooked on it. I’ve played
DDR before but I like the music on this software better.” He took a swig of his
water and handed it to Jounouchi who gulped it down appreciatively. They were
too busy trying to catch their breath to notice the sound of the door opening.
When Yuugi finally caught his breath, he stood up and looked over to the
counter where he saw Yami hunched over the counter, his head buried in his
arms, sobs wracking his shoulders.
“Oh my God Yami, are you all right?” he ran over to brother
in spirit and pulled him into his arms.
“Hush Aibou,” he consoled, petting his head gently. “Tell me
what’s wrong.”
Yami continued to cry. Jounouchi came over with a box of
tissues. He looked a Yuugi with a helpless look on his face. Yuugi held his
dark while he continued to sob. Without warning, the woman pulled away from his
embrace with a vehement curse.
“Son of a bitch! I fucking hate this! I can’t stop crying!”
he screamed. He kicked a nearby Duel Monsters cutout of him and Seto facing
each other, holding their famous cards.
“I trusted you!” he yelled and he collapsed on the floor,
Yuugi and Jounouchi running to his side.
“We broke up,” he said quietly. Yuugi gasped and looked at
Yami’s ring less finger.
“Why that dirty…” Jounouchi began before Yuugi sent him a
harsh look, immediately silencing him.
Yuugi had never seen Yami look so forlorn, so…defeated. Not
even when they were still connected physically and he had lost to Raphael.
“I’m here for you Yami. I’ll always be here for you,” he
promised.
“Me too pal,” Jounouchi said. “I know I’ve been a bit of an
ass lately, but I’m still one of your best friends.” Yami gave him a wan smile.
“Does this mean I can stay with you for a while Aibou,” he
asked.
“Of course it does,” he smiled. Yami hugged him and sighed.
“Thank you Aibou.” He released him and took his bag upstairs,
leaving Yuugi and Jounouchi behind to their own devices. He opened to door to
his former room and looked around. Yuugi hadn’t changed it. It was just as he
left it, only cleaner. “Yuugi must use this as a guest room,” he said to
himself. He dumped his bag on the floor and fell onto his bed. He tugged a
small locket from around his neck and opened it, revealing a small picture of
Seto.
“I want you to have
this,” Seto said as he placed the small Duel Monster shaped locket around
Yami’s neck. “That way I’ll always be with you.”
“Are you being
sentimental?” Yami teased to which Seto responded, “No. I’m simply letting
everyone know whom you belong to.” And he kissed Yami soundly.
I won’t be the one to
chase you
But at the same time
you’re the heart that I call home
I’m always stuck with
these emotions
And the more I try to
feel the less I’m whole
Yami felt the tears water in his
eyes once more. He sighed and blinked them back. He was tired of crying, tired
of feeling the influx of estrogen in his body. He snuggled up against his
pillow and cracked a large yawn.
“Gods I’m so tired,” he said. He pulled his long hair back
so he wouldn’t strangle himself with it while he slept and curled into a
comfortable position. It wasn’t long until he fell asleep.

He was flying over Egypt. The moon shined brightly in silvery
radiance, casting her gentle glow upon the fertile land. The wind roared about
him as he soared over majestic cities and green pastures near the beautiful
river. He let out a piercing shriek of triumph and dove towards a magnificent
city, Memphis in all its white shining glory.
The falcon came to
rest on a balcony, his beautiful feathers fluffed from his travel. He heard a
voice call to him and he took off into flight once more, following the sound.
He flew deeper inside the chamber in search of the lovely voice. Someone held
out an arm and he landed on it, only to look into the wise and beautiful eyes
of a goddess.
“Did you have fun, my
beautiful Dawn-Hawk?” She asked, nuzzling the birds’ soft feathers. He nibbled
on her earlobe affectionately and she set him down on the ground where he
changed his form into a beautiful boy with eyes of the reddest rubies and hair
so wild and colorful that it was almost inhuman. He was dressed in a simple
silver tunic, adorned with gold plating. He wore the jewelry of a Pharaoh, a
winged tiara upon his brow.
“You called for me
mother?” he asked innocently.
The beautiful goddess
walked over to her son and took his hand. She led him back to the balcony so
they could look over the city covered in moonlight.
“Horus,” she began,
“It is time.”
The beautiful being
looked at his mother in askance. “Time for what mother?”
She turned her
fathomless black eyes at him. “You know the answer to that my child.” She stood
behind him and held him in her arms, cradling him like a baby. “It is time for
a new beginning, time for new flight,” she whispered.
Another voice rang
through the stillness.
“Sweet Dawn-Hawk,” it
said in dulcet tones. “My gift to you.”
And the world exploded
in a flash of light.
Yami awoke with a start. “What the hell?”
Outside, the full moon shone in bright glory.

The next day, Yami was subjected to a shopping trip with Mai
and Shizuka. While he normally enjoyed shopping, the trip with the two of them
destroyed any sense of enjoyment he would ever have for shopping again.
All day, they poked and prodded at him, forcing him to try
on bras and other such undergarments, skirts and dresses. When he threatened to
send them both to the Shadow Realm, they simply laughed and stuffed him into a
corset. By the end of the day, he was exhausted but he now had a wardrobe fit
for a queen.
“Hey Yami, what happened to that hot car of yours?” Mai
asked as she drove them back to the game shop.
“I left it back at Kaiba’s” she replied from the backseat.
Mai and Shizuka gave each other a look. They knew that Yami
loved that car more than life itself and would never miss an opportunity to
drive it, much less leave it at home.
“Okay sweet thing, what’s your problem?” Mai asked. “You’ve
hardly said a word all day, not including threats, and I noticed that you
aren’t wearing your engagement rock. Are you and Seto still fighting?”
“I don’t want to talk about it. I’m in a bad enough mood so
just drop it.”
Mai’s violet eyes widened but she didn’t say another word. She
pulled up to the game shop and let Yami out of the car. Before driving off, she
called him over to the window.
“Hey, I know you’re still getting used to being a woman. I
know it’s hard and if you ever need to talk to someone about things you
normally wouldn’t say to anyone else, I’m here for you.”
“Me too,” Chimed Shizuka
Yami looked at the pair gratefully. “I appreciate that Mai,
Shizuka” he said nodding at the both of them. She smiled back and handed him a
small box.
“You’re probably going to need these soon, judging by your
level of crankiness today and fondness for chocolate at lunch.” She winked at
him and drove off in a trail of dust, Shizuka’s laughter fading in the
distance.
“What the hell did she mean by that?” he wondered as he
looked at the box. He walked into the game shop.
“Hey Yuugi,” he called. “What are tampons?”
