There was no one to blame for the accident. It
couldn�t have been helped. No experiments set it off. There was no negligence
or wrongdoing. It was just a freak accident.

How can there be no one to blame?

Aibou didn�t die at random!

No!

�Yami?�

No! This isn�t true! It was Kaiba�s fault �
someone�s fault! Bakura, the teacher, the children, me� just� someone�

�Yami? You okay?�

No! My aibou is dead and I have no one� nothing to�
Someone has to be at fault! Someone is lying, covering up� Kaiba paid them to
clear his name� it is his fault! Someone�s fault!

�Hey, Yami.� Warm hands on his tense arms. �You�re
okay, right?�

Is he trembling? He thinks he might be� suppressed
anger. Jounouchi will think it is tears� no. No more tears for him� revenge for
him. Kaiba will pay!

�Yami.� The voice gets harder as the blond turns him
around. �Answer me.�

�They�re lying!� A few vague shadows appear, only
awaiting his will to become cohesive, to attack, to kill�

�They�re not!� The shadows darken for a moment but
he takes a deep breath and orders them to retreat� He will not attack
Jounouchi�

�They�re telling the truth. It was just an accident.
Just a stupid chain of coincidences� And Kaiba had nothing to do with it. Okay?
There�s no one to punish. Everyone is innocent.�

�There has to be someone!�

Amber eyes bore into his. �If you want to blame
someone, blame Yuugi for being up there in the front of the class.�

No! No, I will not blame� Yuugi�

He lets out a breath and sags bonelessly into his
arms. �Aibou� It wasn�t his fault��

�And it wasn�t anyone else�s fault either.� His arms
are so warm and gentle� Just like Aibou would wrap his cute little arms around
me when I needed him to� �You understand now, Yami? No one made this happen. It
just did.�

He nods, against his will. He has to blame someone�
but if the only person to blame is Yuugi� and it wasn�t his fault� then it was
no one�s fault. And if it was no one�s fault, there�s no one to punish. No
revenge to be had. Yuugi will go unavenged, because there�s no one to punish�

�Yuugi never wanted revenge anyway�� The blond�s
voice is slow, and soft. The sound of fond memories, or sad realization� that a
friend will always be past tense now. �He never wanted you to hurt people for
him. He was glad you protected him, but he never did want people to be hurt.
Anyone, for any reason. That includes you, how hurt you feel now. He�d want you
to be happy without him.�

�Happy? Without Yuugi?� He shakes his head and
sighs. �It isn�t possible.�

The warm comforting arms tighten a bit. �You could
try.�

�I can�t�� He shakes his head. �I am a Dark� I need
my Light. I can survive without him� I never even thought that much was
possible before� But I can�t be happy without him��

�Well� If you never even thought you could survive,
and obviously you can, maybe you can be happy too.�

He shakes his head again, leaning on Jounouchi. It�s
not possible� if it is, it�s too hard� too much work�

�You owe it to Yuugi to at least try.�

He looks up. Does he? Yes� He owes it to Yuugi to
try to do what he would have wanted.

He sighs and leaned forward again, one arm wrapped
around Jounouchi, the other hand tilting his golden head forward slightly to
rest their foreheads together. �You�re a lot like Yuugi�� he murmurs.

�I haven�t been told that before,� he says with a
small, sad smile.

�It�s true� part of his light lives on in you�� He
sighs and lets him go.

The blond pulls him back. �It�s all right, Yami.
Aren�t you trying to be happy?�

After a pause, he nods and sinks back against him.
This is a good start, at least�

A/N: Wh00t! These two are my first ever finished
chapter stories! ^_^ Okay, they�re mediocre at best. And lots of people don�t
like how they�re written. I know people don�t like how it was written. ^_^ But
it was completely intentional. You�ll notice that it got better toward the end.
The intent was to reflect Yami�s state of sanity with the writing, after all.
Also, no smut, I know � but I never promised smut. ^^ Just because it�s on
AFFn�
