At the Boozee, Hiata was standing behind the bar chatting with a messenger from his boss while he watched for his ‘employees’ to arrive. He’d thought that the dirty drunk Jounouchi had been full of shit when he’d sworn to bring his son back to the bar or kill the little bastard. The loser must have scared the piss out of his son because not only was his cheap labor coming back to work, but he was bringing a hot piece of ass with him.

Not that he was blind to the younger Jounouchi’s charms. He just preferred the money the younger blond could save him by working in the back. He also knew that if he’d tried to force the rebellious young man to do more than bar-back he’d have a fight on his hands. It wasn’t worth the effort. However, that had all changed when he saw the outright terror in both of their eyes when he mentioned his ‘employees’ father. Old Jounouchi must have more on the ball than he gave him credit for.

Hiata smiled with satisfaction when Jounouchi stalked in, leading the hot piece toward the back. He met them before they could disappear. “You’re not in uniform,” he snarled.

“Under our clothes. Ya don’t think we’d wear somethin’ like that in public did ya?” Jou snapped right back.

“Go change then get to work. I’ll show your little friend around.” He smiled down at Yugi with a distinctly lustful glint as he reached out to take the smaller man’s arm. He growled and snarled when Jounouchi knocked his hand away before he could touch the soft skin.

“Keep yer fuckin’ hands offa him or ya’ll draw back a bleedin’ stump. I ain’t fuckin’ around. He ain’t on th’ menu. His lover is very rich an’ powerful. Ya don’t wanna fuck with him.” He gripped Yugi’s arm and pulled him behind his larger form.

“Lover?” Hiata felt safe in scoffing. If his lover was so powerful then there would be no reason for him to be afraid of that drunk Jounouchi. “What’s his name? Maybe I’ll invite him over for drinks.”

This time it was Yugi who, in a voice as cutting as a scalpel, said, “None of your business. If he found out I... WE... were here he’d likely take you apart.” To Yugi it was a lie, and Hiata saw that prevarication in the normally guileless eyes.

“Yeah right. Whatever. Get to work - for now he can stay with you, but later.. later I’ll expect him to mingle.” He smirked. “You too of course. I’m expecting elite guests. He’ll mingle with them. You can entertain the common rabble.”

Jou’s breath caught sharply. ‘Elite’ was a code word for Yakuza bosses. People died when the Elite guests were in house. Usually some hapless innocent. Yugi was the undeniable definition of hapless innocent. Fucking hell. “Yeah? When will the Elite arrive?”

Hiata looked over at the bar where he’d last seen his Yakuza messenger. He was surprised to find the man hovering just over his shoulder. “Ah... “

“We were just getting to that when you left to greet your employees.” Not a flicker of emotion crossed the other man’s face. He would never show the insult he felt at Hiata’s actions, nor would he show the satisfaction he felt at having completed the second half of his mission so easily. The boss had sent him not only to warn Hiata about his eminent arrival, but to also gather information about Kaiba Seto’s lovers. It seems that the small, spike-haired man was lover to a rich, powerful and dangerous man. That described Kaiba exactly. “He will be here in an hour.” Nodding politely, he faded back into the shadows.

Hiata grinned in anticipation. He might have to take sloppy seconds, thirds or even fourths, but he’d take it any way he could. “You heard him. Be ready in an hour.” With a grunt that was meant to be intimidating, he spun around and strutted back to the bar.

Yugi dropped his head and gave a low moan. “What now Jou?”

“Yugi, Kaiba’ll kill us if he finds out we were here. We need ta get things taken care of and get out before that meeting.”

“Wh... Why do you mention Seto? What does he have...”

“Yugi, Kaiba is a major international player. He has shipments and business all over the world. He probably knows some of these guys from the business world if no other way. We... we’re part of his world. How do you think it’s going to sit with him if these guys recognize you?”

“But Jou I just have to entertain them. Sing or something I guess. But...”

“Yugi! You can’t possibly be that naive. The kind of entertainment they expect is what whores do. Gimme a break and...”

“Sorry Jou. I.... I wasn’t really thinking. Could that happen? I mean we’re in a bar. It’s a public place.”

“Yugi these places, these guys..... Damn it, remember what I told ya before? All kinda shit happens here. Look, we’ll finish our job and leave. Yer not gonna be alone with anyone an’ yer stickin’ ta me like glue.” Jou was adamant.

Feeling like an idiot - not to mention scared to death - Yugi nodded and mumbled a soft agreement. He had to admit the one armed hug Jou gave him helped him feel marginally better, but he couldn’t help wishing Atemu or Seto were there.

Neither of them noticed the messenger from earlier hovering within clear earshot. Nor did they hear the conversation of the other man when he called his boss. “Moshi... Yes, I have found the information requested. It is as was told to us... and I personally witnessed and there can be no doubt... Yes of course. All will be ready.” After finishing his call, the other man took a moment to glance around the bar. His brother was looking to retire from the ‘field.’ Perhaps he would enjoy being a barkeep.

At Boozee, Elite guests did not use the common entrance. Instead, they parked in the alley and entered through a small, private door, one used only by people of their status. It led directly to a luxuriously appointed room. Hiata greeted his esteemed guests, the highest ranking boss he’d ever met, with a very formal bow. The Yakuza lord simply brushed by him with a scant flick of his eyes, not deigning to speak or nod to him.

When his guest did not sit down, Hiata gestured nervously “Please sit. What can I bring you to drink? Or perhaps you would prefer some entertainment?”

“I will not be here long enough to enjoy a drink. Tell me, this entertainment, would it include pretty young men? One with spiked-hair and perhaps a blond?”

That startled Hiata for a moment until he remembered the messenger stood behind him when he’d spoken to them when they’d first arrived. “Ah your messenger told you about them? They must have made a good impression.”

The boss shrugged and seemingly switched topics when he said, “You wanted to move up in our organization. We were actually considering it until your ambition overrode your... intelligence.”

That made the bar owner blink and shake his head in confusion. “What?”

“You touched, frightened, and insulted the lovers of a very important man. A man who could do more damage with his fingertip than you could ever hope to repair in ten lifetimes.”

“Huh? What? What are you talking about? I haven’t touched anyone.” Hiata furrowed his brow as he thought a moment longer. “Unless, you mean that half drunk little hottie with the great knockers wearing that short red dress she was fallin’ outta. Had ta help her to the door so she could go meet her guy and, well, she’s the one that turned inta my hand. I sure as hell didn’t grope her if that’s what she said.”

"You do not listen well. I said lovers. And if you can’t remember the acts then perhaps we overestimated you all along. After all you were clearly told that your ‘entertainment’ was the property of a powerful man and yet you have continued with your foolishness. Now I’m afraid, with my own man witnessing the insult, there is no hope for it, but to balance the scales and hope it is enough appeasement.”

All the big words were confusing Hiata. Not sure what was going on, but positive it was all a big mistake he stuttered. "I'm sure this can all be talked through. If I insulted someone, I'll be happy to apologize. I will beg if necessary."

"Beg? Yes, perhaps that will help the situation," the Yakuza boss murmured thoughtfully.

"Of course it will. I meant no insult or harm. I... If you will contact the woman's lover I'll beg for his forgiveness. Please have him come here and I'll offer him anything he wants to make amends. I have a large stable of men and women, even a few young girls and boys." Seeing a flicker of acceptance on his face, Hiata nodded eagerly. "While you contact him I will see to your entertainment. I have a hot pair of fresh meat just waiting for you." The bar owner was so eager to curry favor and forgiveness, he didn't not notice the look exchanged between the crime lord and the messenger from earlier.

No emotion showed in his dark eyes as the drug lord gave Hiata a curt nod. Hiata scurried from the room like a rat escaping a sinking ship, having no idea he was about to dive into shark infested water. He was back perhaps ten minutes later, his arrival heralded by loud thumps, bangs and snarling curse words peppered with threats.

He had obviously been in an altercation. Blood ran freely from cuts on his lips and cheekbones, dark red bruises just shadowing to purple ringed his eyes, and there was a gaping wound, a deep, ragged edged hole in his arm where someone had obviously bitten a chunk out of him and as he lumbered into the room he limped noticeably.

Behind him were two body guards. One holding a small, exquisitely pale, young man in an obvious choking grip. The small one was writhing like a worm on a hook, kicking out roughly with small bare feet and prying at the hands holding him prisoner. It was obvious that the smaller man did not want to be there and was fighting to be free.

The second guard was having a worse time of it. A blond man, medium height, slim but muscular, was fighting the burly bouncer’s hold with everything he had. The resistance was considerable and the guard was barely hanging on. Even as he watched, the blond viciously backwards head-butted his captor with enough strength to break the other man's nose. Quick as a snake and just as deadly, the blond changed direction and aimed another head blow upwards, a killing strike that drove the broken bones and cartilage of the nose up into the brain of the guard. Instantly, blood spurted from the man's ears and nose and his eyes turned red with blood. The blond paid no attention to his fallen enemy and was on the smaller man's captor before his last victim hit the floor.

As fast as he was, Hiata was faster, whipping out a gun and placing it against Yugi's thrashing head. Instantly, the room stilled, with the exception of the goon convulsing in death throes on the floor. Hiata snarled, "Enough. One more move and I'll kill him - then you."

Golden eyes spitting fire and the promise of death, Jou hissed, "Touch him and you will die. If I don't kill you, his lover will."

"Lover... You lie as much as your drunkard father. If he had a powerful lover he wouldn’t be here, he wouldn’t let a threat from a piece of trash like your father control him. What would the lover of a powerful man be doing hanging around with a gutter brat like you? I'll show you what I think of your lies and threats." With a powerful, careless blow, he slammed the butt of his handgun against the side of Yugi's face. Before he could bring his hand back for another blow, he found his hand caught in a steely grip. Angrily, he turned to snarl at the idiot who dared to interfere only to choke and gasp when he met the hard gaze of the Yakuza boss.

"Release him - gently." Every inch a crime lord, he ordered it regally. It never occurred to the bar bouncer to disobey. With all the care of a man holding nitroglycerin, he placed Yugi gingerly on his feet.

Jounouch didn't wait a second. He leaped forward and scooped Yugi in a tight hug, cradling him tightly to his chest. The Yakuza boss noticed the tenderness and possessive caring in that hold. If he didn't know they were lovers before, he would have known from that embrace. And they were both claimed by Kaiba. The toymaker was a very lucky man.

Hiata was stunned and furious. "What...?"

"So this is how you beg them for forgiveness? With abuse and insult?"

"Beg them? Them?" His voice was incredulous. "I don't know where you got your information, but they are just guttersnipes and trash. The blond has worked in my back room for years as a dishwasher, paying for his old man's drinks. He quit and I decided he was too valuable so his old man made him come back. His little fuck-buddy was a bonus I decided to take because of the annoyance the other one caused me."

"My information comes from the highest source. You are a fool and endanger all of us. You are a liability." The crime lord bowed to Jounouchi and Yugi. "Please forgive my family. I give you my word the insults will be dealt with." With a nod to his number one guard, he ordered, "See to it they get into decent clothes and make it home safely. If one hair is harmed on either of them, it will not go well for you."

The bodyguard nodded impassively. "Of course." Giving the two young men a quick look, he gestured to the door. "After you, sirs."

The blond blinked suspiciously "What da fuck is goin' on?"

Hiata echoed that. "Yeah, what th' hell?"

The mob boss thought for a moment. There had been no hint of scandal or public knowledge of the relationship between the three men. Perhaps he should back off a bit and honor that. "You are Jounouchi Katsuya, third-ranked duelist in the world. He is Moutou Yuugi, first-ranked duelist in the world. Between you, you have a following of millions. You both are well-known, popular figures famous for strength, cunning, teamwork and friendship. How you came to be here... I would guess you were honoring your father's debts and your friend decided to help you. Such loyalty and strong skills are to be praised, not abused. I am a very large fan, as is my son." He hesitated for less than a heartbeat. "Please allow my man to see to your safety and escort you home. No harm will come to you from us - ever." Another heartbeat of hesitation. "Jounouchi-san, if you ever find yourself free and in need of a friend or a job, kindly contact me. I'm sure you will know how."

The golden eyes watched him suspiciously. "Yer just lettin' us go. What about him?" He jerked his chin towards the dead body on the floor.

"When one attacks a dragon, one can expect to suffer losses. Accept my assistance in handling this." It was less than an order and more than a request.

Eyes still glinting warily, Jou nodded. "Yeah okay. But if ya..."

"No need to worry. Go now and get changed. Even I cannot guarantee your safety if you go into public dressed as you are." The Yakuza lord dismissed them and Jounouchi, still on guard, led the stunned and hurting Yugi out of the room.

The silence in the room was total after they left. From out of the shadows four more body guards appeared. "You are a liability and your lack of intelligence and forethought a disgrace to my family. You were told and yet you persisted." A simple flick of his fingertips and the bar owner found himself forced to his knees and held there by two of the guards. Another move, just the turning of his hand and the third guard handed him a cell phone, already open and number dialed.

"I am indebted to your kindness. Thank you for answering my call." Hiata blinked at the soft, respectful sound of the other man's voice. He almost choked on his own drying spit when his boss continued after a few seconds. "The insult is most regrettable and I agree the scales must be balanced. It will be carried out at Goshiki-Zakura in forty-five minutes." With a low 'sayonara' the phone was returned to the waiting man.

"Goshiki-Zakura? What..." Hiata never finished his sentence. Another flick of the lord’s fingers and Hiata found himself gagged, bound, and thrown into the trunk of the large black limo waiting by the private entrance. The severity of his situation was brought home to him when his bouncer, the one killed by Jounouchi, was tossed in on top of him. He wouldn't die from suffocation, but it told him that the family already considered him a dead man. Screaming at the top of his lungs did nothing as he was bound and gagged, nor did crying and praying to a god he'd long past forsaken. After a time, lulled by the motion of the car and helped by the carbon dioxide leaking into the trunk from the exhaust, he fell into a light doze.

Kaiba Seto closed his phone with a distinct snap. It was unusual for him to be invited to witness the balancing of scales, so it was either a trap - which he doubted highly - or something further had happened, something that his associate was afraid would bring about more wrath.

Concern for his soon-to-be partners had him frowning before he clicked open his phone again and dialed Yugi's number. Yugi had a harder time than Jou at hiding when he was upset or hurt. His frown got deeper when Jounouchi answered on the fourth ring. “Yeah?”

“Is that any way to answer the phone?” Seto teased even as he sat down behind his desk and started to type out the commands that would triangulate their position based on what cell towers they were using.

“Just a little busy here. Whaddup?” The concern Seto felt intensified. Jounouchi's voice was taut with some unknown strain.

Seto couldn't tell him that the Yakuza lord had sent his system on full alert when he invited Seto to witness the justice he'd demanded, so he prevaricated. “I just... I got a strange feeling to call Yugi. It was like... well anyway, why are you answering his phone? Where is he?”

There was silence at the other end of the phone then a low, muffled conversation. “Jounouchi, what's going on?”

“Nothin' he was just busy for a second. Let me get him for ya.” More muffled conversation then Yugi's voice, soft and somehow pained sounding, greeted him. “Ohayo Seto-koiboito.” That jolted Seto in several ways. First the greeting was too casual, and the endearment very familiar. It was not the way he would expect to be addressed outside the bedroom.

“Yugi are you all right? You sound upset.” He chose his words carefully. He didn't want to tip his hand.

“I'm fine Seto-chan. Jounouchi and I are done for the night and are on our way home. We'll be there in ten minutes. Too bad you have to work. You could come over and keep us company.” Yugi's voice became soft and dreamy, yet still with that pained undertone. “I'd really like your company tonight.”

Something had definitely happened. “Hnnn... I will be there in two hours.” Without another word he hung up. Seto prided himself on his patience. It wasn't a natural part of his personality and every bit of it was acquired through sheer determination. His prized virtue was put to the test as he paced and prowled around his penthouse office, his eyes never leaving the screen and the display of Jou's house. Eight minutes later, a very disheveled Jounouchi half-carried, half-dragged Yugi in the door and gently laid the swaying man on the couch.

“Yugi, ya stay right here. I'ma get a cool cloth for yer face and some stuff for our bruises.” Jou dashed off. Seto zoomed in on Yugi's face, staring at the livid bruising. Someone had hit him hard. Yugi's eyes were wide and dazed, and tears streaked down his face. Rage twisted through him and he panned out to scope down the sprawled body. Shirt ripped in half, with smears of blood, obvious bruising on his neck, chest and arm, and a trickle of blood from his mouth all added up to some kind of attack.

The hot emotion riding through his veins flared higher when he saw that Jounouchi wasn't in much better shape. His shirt was in tatters, his knuckles bruised, torn, and oozing blood, and dark shadowing on his face highlighted the purple strangulation marks from before. Whoever attacked them had taken more than one hit. If he wasn't satisfied with justice Yakuza style, he would take great pleasure in ripping that organization apart. Furiously stabbing his intercom with an impatient finger, Seto barked, "Bring my car around. Have a full security team attendant. Also, put on full monitoring. Two minutes."

The ride to the bridge of the five-color Sakura took exactly thirty two minutes. Seto waited five minutes before the lights went out. His security team went into full alert and two helicopters, armed with everything from nerve gas to tank killers, took to the sky. They were on site in less than three minutes.

About a minute after the copters took position, another limo pulled onto the bridge. In the distance, Seto was aware that 'road crews' were setting up barriers to reroute any traffic. Seto stepped out of his limo, standing firm and tall, daring the Yakuza to attempt anything.

The Yakuza lord alighted, followed by three of his guards. With a subtle gesture, he signaled for the dead men to be removed from his vehicle. Bowing just enough to show respect, he greeted, "You are too kind to grant us this opportunity. We will always remember your kind graciousness in this matter."

Stifling his urge to snarl and rip the other man a new ass, Seto inclined his head respectfully. "Your prompt action in such a delicate situation is greatly appreciated. I too will remember your efficient and professional manner."

The other man bowed again, slightly lower. "Not as efficient as one could hope, I'm afraid. Your lovers, Jounouchi-san and Moutou-san, were injured further before I could stop it. They were humiliated, frightened, and regrettably bruised in the incident. I have since seen to their safe removal from the environment." He kept his composure as the tall man standing before him seemed to swell with anger. "There is more. Jounouchi-san, in an effort to protect Moutou-san, used... lethal force. I will of course handle the disposition of the body. It is an expected loss." The Yakuza lord gestured and one of the limp bodies was lifted by two of the body guards, and tossed over the side of the bridge. "There is nothing to connect your lover to him."

Seto didn't say a word, simply continued to watch him. Nodding, the mobster gestured to the man between them. "As to this one. Justice has yet to be administered. Would you care to mete it out or will you allow me?"

As much as Seto wanted to beat the crap out of the worthless piece of shit who harassed and injured Jou and Yugi, it was not his place to discipline Yakuza. "I have no desire to usurp your position. I will observe." He watched as the ex-owner of Boozee was dragged to a kneeling position and his gagged mouth unbound.

Hiata sucked in a deep breath and whimpered as his mouth was freed. "Please... I know this is all a mistake. I... I don't understand. Please... What did I do? Who did I insult? It can't be Jounouchi or his fuck buddy... Please tell him this is a misunderstanding." He didn't have any pride left, so he grovelled, unashamedly begging for some kind of stay of execution.

The Yakuza lord answered by waving his hands to his men. As one they stepped forward ready to deliver the punishment expected. Hiata flinched and cowered away. "Please tell me what I did wrong."

A deep voice not belonging to the boss, but rather to the shadowed man in front of him, the 'lover' of the one he'd supposedly insulted. "He doesn't know?" The tall muscular figure shook his head slightly. "A man should know his crimes."

"They were explained, but the intelligence of this one is limited and his bigoted ignorance boundless. If you like you may enumerate them." Hiata looked first at his boss, surprised he was giving way so easily, then back at the shadowy form who could change his fate.

"Please, I don't understand. If I insulted your lover it was purely accidental. I..."

"An accident?" He scoffed in his most derisive tones. "You forced your way into Jounouchi's home. You gave them disgusting costumes to wear. You frightened my tender lover, made him cry. You touched them both. You would have sold them and you offered them to your boss. In addition your actions caused Jounouchi to kill to protect our lover. All of this I have witnessed or been told of. How can any of it be an accident?"

Shock ricocheted through Hiata. He couldn't help stammering, "J...Jou...Jounouchi... and his … his... little friend... they are your lovers?"

A curt nod answered him. Really, no words were necessary. Hiata couldn't stop his shocked outburst. "But they... they are...low..." He bit off his words when the menacing figure in front of him growled and seemed to grow a foot taller. "Please, I didn't... I didn't know. If I had known I would never have..." Moaning low in terror he pleaded "Who... who are you?"

"You are a dead man so it won't matter if you know... My name is Kaiba."

His terror reached new heights. He'd been around long enough to recognize that name - the history of ruthlessness behind it. "Oh god! Please! I didn't know... I didn't... Forgive me... let me beg them for forgiveness."

Seto didn't bother to respond. "I know that you were told and you still persisted." In a voice as cold as ice, the 'lover' turned to his boss. "He knows now. Carry on." With a nod, he moved deeper into the shadows as the three bodyguards moved in.

Ruthlessly, they pinned him in a kneeling position and taped his mouth closed again. Methodically, they broke every finger, then Hiata's arms. When they were hanging limply, unable to move, one of the men took out a large nightstick, and stripping his pants down, shoved it roughly into his ass.

Piece-by-piece, bone-by-bone, they broke the barkeep's body until he lay mangled on the ground, alive and breathing, but mutilated beyond all hope of repair. The boss leaned down and removed the tape from the slack lips. "For the insult - I will handle this.” Putting gloves on his hands he reached into Hiata's mouth and pulled his tongue forward. Using a blade concealed in his hand, he sliced the small muscle out and stepped back, away from the spray of blood. "It is done." He bowed to Kaiba and with a simple movement threw the small strip of flesh over the bridge. His men took it as the sign it was and picked up the gutturally screaming man. In just a few seconds, the loud choked screams were ended by a faint splash from below.

With a slight bow Seto turned on his heel and strode back to his waiting limo. He only called off the copters when they were well into the city.

"Report?" Seto snapped into his cell phone.

"All birds back at base. Bridge targets have retired for the night. Package picked up. Return delivery hampered by initial targets being on site. Recommendation?"

"Keep the package frozen for a few hours until everyone is asleep. I will apprise you of when that happens. I am heading over to site now."

"Very good. We will wait for your signal." The line disconnected and Seto leaned forward, speaking through the intercom. "Jounouchi Katsuya's house." He checked his watch. He should be about half an hour early. Justice wasn't always slow.
