  • First Things First: Thank you guys so much for the reviews. I’m so glad more people like Tristan/Joey… There’s not enough of them, and I think they really are a sweet pair. Sorry it took me so long to update, but I had finals, damn this college thing I’ve been doing…hahaha… they’re all done now though… school’s out for the semester… YAH! Anyway, this chapter the angst returns. Although not in full effect, but anyway, you’ll see… And we get to see Yugi shake his bon-bon. It’s Yami’s birthday party. Oh Lordy, I’m sure you can only imagine what Yugi has planned…

Disclaimer: Me don’t own it. Watch out for a very over the top Yugi…

Song Notes: I really put myself in a mood writing this chapter: Dirrty by Christina Aguliera feat. Redman, Turn Me On by Kevin Little, In Da Club by 50 Cent, I’m a Slave 4 U by Britney Spears, and Remember the Time by Michael Jackson. Although Remember the Time isn’t a dance song the lyrics were perfect for Yami and Yugi’s situation. The small snippet of lyrics in the chapter are 50 Cent and Britney Spears.

    Chapter 7: Escapism

    Do you remember
    When we fell in love
    We were young
    And innocent then
    Do you remember
    How it all began
    It just seemed like heaven
    So why did it end?

    Do you remember
    Back in the fall
    We’d be together
    All day long
    Do you remember
    Us holding hands
    In each other’s eyes
    We’d stare
    (tell me)

    Do you remember the time
    When we fell in love
    Do you remember the time
    When we first met
    Do you remember the time
    When we fell in love
    Do you remember the time

    ~ Remember the Time

    Michael Jackson

Joey rubbed sleep crust out of his eye as he pulled open the refrigerator. He smirked. Yugi had decided to put up the sketch that Tristan had made him there with a magnet shaped like a cucumber. Yugi was quite impressed with the portrait of his roommate as a sleeping “beauty”. According to Yugi, it was the least Tristan could do, after all, Joey had taken a big step Friday night.

“Joseph Wheeler why in creation aren’t you dressed?”

    “Huh?”

“It’s almost six, we have reservations. Get dressed, Babe.” Joey made a face. “I knew I shouldn’t have let you take a nap. Now change out of those sweats before I find you a pair of hot pants to wear.” Joey getting that new job at the bookstore had been reason to celebrate, so Yugi had decided to take the blond out to celebrate, not to mention that they hadn’t gone out alone in while.

“Hey, Yugi, do I really look like this when I’m sleeping?” Joey asked as he closed the refrigerator shut, a can of soda in his hand.

“Yes. You’ve been burning a hole through that drawing for five days. We’ve already gone over how sweet Tristan is. Drawing you that picture, bringing you flowers last night at class. Maybe if you put out more often you’d get more gifts and wouldn’t get all awestruck when someone does something for you.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Yugi. But we can’t all land on our backs more often than a luge competitor.”

Yugi giggled. “You’re dealing with a hot commodity here.” Joey sighed. “Come, on get dressed. We have to pick out Yami’s birthday gift before we go eat. Or did you forget?”

“No. But you apparently forgot that I don’t want to go to Yami’s birthday party.”

“You can bring a date, Babe.”

“I thought you were my date?” Joey asked walking into his bedroom. Yugi followed him. “Don’t tell me you’re bringing someone else.”

    “I met this guy.”

“That’s what you always say, Yug. Where’d you meet him this time? The carwash? The bank?”

“The bakery.” Joey ruffled through the clothes in his closet. “I think I want to stop at the Pyramid for drinks, so wear something seductive, Babe.”

“I’m wearing jeans and a shirt, besides, I wouldn’t want any outfit I’d chose to take away from your leather butt chokers.” Yugi laughed. “You are very easy to amuse.” Yugi nodded. “So, what about this guy?” Joey zipped up his pants.

“Well, I was walking by, and I see this vision. I was on my cell phone with grandpa and hang up with him and walk into the bakery. I walk up to the guy and tell him that I like his buns.”

    “Yugi…”

“I got his number in 33 seconds, Babe. A new record.” Joey made another face and pulled on his shirt. “You know, everywhere I go I meet a guy.”

“So do prostitutes, what’s your point.” Yugi giggled. “So this random stranger is who you’re taking to Yami’s birthday party instead of me?”

“Maybe. I’m going out with him tomorrow night. If things go well he’ll be my date for Yami’s party Saturday. Otherwise, my Friday night date will be my date for Yami’s party. I just figured you’d want to take Tristan.”

“Who are you seeing on Friday night?”

“One of Bakura’s ex-roommate’s ex-boyfriends.” Joey looked at Yugi with pure disgust.

“Let me guess, Bakura introduced you.”

“No, Joey. You actually think he’d tell people about me so they can sleep with me?”

“Why not, Bakura seems like the type who’d take advantage of a good thing.”

Yugii frowned. “Bakura isn’t like that, Joey.”

“Well, who knows. I’ve never seen him without a boner.”

“Take that back, Joey.” Yugi gave Joey a bitter look.

“I don’t like him. I’m not going to pretend I do.”

“You don’t like any of my friends.”

“Friends? You mean like Yami, the guy who drove you to depression? Or Bakura, the sex-crazed asshole? Here’s a newsflash: Just because he fucks you doesn’t mean he’s your friend, Yugi.” Yugi’s eyes flickered with anger.

“How dare you talk about him like that! You know nothing about him, Joey.”

“How well can you possibly know him, Yugi, since the majority of your conversations take place while your clothes are off.”

“FUCK YOU, JOEY!” Yugi spun on his heel and stormed out of Joey’s bedroom.

Shit. Why the hell did I just say that? Damn it.

‘Yugi, wait, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to say that. Yugi.” Joey ran into the kitchen.

“Celebrate your new job alone, Joey.” Yugi grabbed his car keys off the counter.

    “Yugi, wait, I’m sorry. Please.”

“I’m not going to spend a miserable evening with your uptight, overprotective bullshit.” Yugi stormed towards the door.

“Whoa, where is all this hostility coming from, there was no need for all that.” Joey blocked his exit. “Excuse me for caring about your well-being, Yugi. Someone has to.”

    “I’m not 12, Joey. I’m an adult.”

“Then maybe you should start acting like one.” Yugi’s eyes widened.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize living MY life was bothering the great and perfect, Joey Wheeler.”

“I never said I was perfect!”

“Well, you’re far from it, Joey.”

“And what the fuck is that supposed to mean?” Yugi lifted and lowered his eyebrows and sneered. “I’m so sick of this, Yugi.”

“I don’t need a big brother, you can cut the shit.”

“Fuck it, do what the hell you want. Do who the hell you want. Get a disease. Die. Hell if I care anymore.”

As soon as the words left Joey’s lips he shuddered. Yugi looked at him for a second, blinked once, and then ran out the door. Oh fuck… Yugi…

“YUGI!!!! Joey took off after Yugi as he ran down the stairs. “Yugi, please, come back… I didn’t mean that… Yugi…” Yugi had a lead on him, and it didn’t help that Joey wasn’t wearing any shoes. Yugi got into his car and Joey made it outside just in time to watch him take off. Oh gods, what did I just say to him…

Joey spent over two hours searching everywhere he could think of for his best friend. He had left at least fifteen messages on Yugi’s voicemail. He wondered if Yugi would drive to his grandfather’s. He decided against calling Yugi’s grandpa and worrying the old man. Joey drove by the house but Yugi’s car wasn’t parked outside. Joey was frantic at this point. How in the hell could he have said that to Yugi?

Get a disease. Die. Hell if I care anymore.”

That had to be the worst thing he could have ever said to him. Gods, what the hell was his problem? Why had he acted like that?

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“You sure can drink a lot for a little guy.” Yugi looked at the taller man standing to his right. He had white hair, which was shading one of his eyes. “You look like you’re barely legal.”

“How old do you think I am?”

“Maybe 20. I’d say you were jailbait.” Yugi smirked. “How old are you then?”

“Age is a number.” Yugi leaned closer. “Besides, you didn’t send that drink over for me to have a discussion about my birthday.”

“I suppose not.” The older man took a look around the bar for a moment before looking back at the shorter man sitting on a stool next to him. “Did you come here alone?”

“Why? Do you want me to leave with you?” The other guy smiled. “Why don’t we skip all the preliminary stuff, why don’t you just get right to the part where you tell me you’re looking to get laid tonight.”

The other guy laughed again. “I take it back, you’re too experienced to be jailbait.” Yugi didn’t say anything. “I’m Pegasus, by the way.”

“Your wife know you spend your Wednesday nights at the Pyramid picking up guys who are young enough to be your son, Pegasus?” The taller gave him a look. “You might want to try taking off the wedding band next time.” Pegasus flushed. “You’re not very experienced at this. Maybe you’re jailbait.”

    “Listen, uh…”

    “Yugi.”

    “Yugi… listen I..”

“If you’re going to give me some spiel about how your wife doesn’t understand you, save it. I’m not in the mood to hear some sob story about your love life, and how you’re in a powerful position and can’t possibly come out of the closet.”

“I…I’m sorry I wasted your time.” He turned to leave.

“I didn’t say I couldn’t help you out. I just said I didn’t want to hear the explanation. What ever happened to the days that people just went up to someone they liked and told them they wanted to fuck. Why all the extra bullshit.” Pegasus looked at him and shrugged.

“You’ll come with me?” Pegasus asked, a little surprised.

“Well, buy me a few more drinks while I think it over. Maybe if I’m drunk enough I’ll find you attractive.” Pegasus made a face. Yugi laughed. That was the best thing about being intoxicated, he didn’t give a shit what he said to people.

Fuck, did gramps here really think he was going anywhere with him? The fucker would have to buy him the whole bar if he thought he had a snowball’s chance. And if he wasn’t already more than a little buzzed he’d swear this Pegasus guy was missing an eye or something.

Yugi finished a second drink Pegasus gave him and flirted happily. Oh, how he loved being a cock tease. He was spectacular at it. Pegasus was obviously interested, Yugi had slipped his hand between Pegasus legs and felt his approval. Boy, if Joey could only see him, he’d shit a brick. He’d be furious. Oh well.

Joey made it clear he didn’t care about him. So fuck Joey. Yugi had turned off his cell phone so he wouldn’t have to deal with Joey’s frantic calls. Now he was concerned? He wasn’t concerned when he told Yugi that he could die.

By the time Pegasus had brought him a fourth drink Yugi could barely stand. “It’s getting late,” the white haired man explained. “I think it’s time we go.”

“With you?” Yugi started laughing hard, tears threatening to leave his eyes. “You must be more tipsy than I am.”

    “You said…”

“Ha..please…” Pegasus made a face and stood up. “Alright, alright, take it easy, Old Timer. Maybe we can work something out.” Yugi stroked Pegasus’s thigh. “Maybe I’ll give you a blow job in the bathroom or something…that should about cover the drinks… you’d like that… old guy?”

“No.” Pegasus hauled Yugi up onto his feet. “Come on, let’s go.”

Yugi was still laughing. He was laughing so hard he didn’t notice that Pegasus was dragging him across the bar. Yugi was giggling and not paying attention as Pegasus led him towards the corner where the steps were.

It was only when Yugi hit someone that it occurred to him that he was walking at all. “Let go of me, you fucker,” Yugi demanded. Pegasus didn’t turn around as he waded through the crowd.

    “You owe me something.”

“Go fuck your wife, go ogo of me.” Yugi pulled away and fell to the floor.

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“Joey? What’s wrong baby?” Tristan asked as he sat up in his bed. He glanced at the clock, it was almost half past twelve. “Baby?”

“Yugi…he…we got in a fight…he’s gone…” Joey was pacing back and forth, back in the apartment.

“Slow down, what do you mean he’s gone?” Tristan made a face as he flicked on a light. “Is he threatening to move out or something?”

“He stormed out, and I can’t find him. I looked everywhere, Tris. It’s late, it’s a Wednesday night. He doesn’t go out on Wednesdays. I even called some of the guys he goes around with and nobody’s heard from him. I tried calling that guy, Bakura, he’s not picking up his phone. I don’t know what to do, Tris. I’m pulling my hair out.”

“Alright, Joey. You have to stay calm. Is there anyplace else you forgot to look?”

“Not that I can think of.”

“Okay, well is it possible he could be with one of his friends?”

“I don’t know Tris. I have to find him. This is al fau fault…why was I so harsh to him…” I suddenly occurred to Joey what he was doing. I’m sorry I’m calling you so late, Tris…I’m just really worried about him. I don’t know if I should call the police or not.”

    “Did you try the Pyramid?”

“Yes, I looked all over the place. What if something happened to him?”

“The police aren’t going to be able to do anything right now. It’s too early to declare him as a missing person. Chances are he’s probably with one of his guys, but I know that’s little solace to you right now. If it’ll make you feel better I can come by and we can go search again.”

“I can’t ask you to do that, Tris. It’s after midnight. You have work tomorrow.”

“I’d think Yugi is far more important than Kaiba Corp, Joey. Look, I’ll take the bike, I can be there in about ten minutes, okay?” Joey bit his lip. “I’m not taking no for an answer, I’ll be there soon.”

    “Okay. Thanks, Tristan.”

“Of course. It’s not a problem.”

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Yugi grumbled as his eyes opened. The first thing that occurred to him was that he was lying down in the dark, on a bed. Wasn’t he just at the Pyramid? He had to have passed out. The room he was in was dark. He couldn’t see an inch in front of his face, but he could tell that this wasn’t his bedroom. His bed wasn’t bumped against the wall like this. Could this be Joey’s room? Why would he be in Joey’s room? If Joey came for him he would have put him to bed in his own room. And besides, Joey didn’t know where he was. Well, he wasn’t to dto drive, so he hadn’t driven himself to this location…

Panic ran through his mind as memories of his conversation with Pegasus plagued his consciousness. Could he have gone home with that guy? He had gotten angry that Yugi was resisting him. Would this guy really drag him to his plafterfter all that? No, that was silly… he hadn’t… but if he hadn’t… then why wasn’t he at the Pyramid?

Where was he? Oh gods, what if… Joey? Oh gods…Joey… Yugi jumped out of the bed in a heartbeat and started running haphazardly towards the door. He only knew where the door was because he could see the faint light from the hallway seeping into the room from underneath it.

Yugi opened the door and collided with a taller figure with white hair. He stumbled backwards, tripped and landed back onto the floor. He winced as the light to the room came on.

“You okay, Babyface?” Bakura asked, bending down. Yugi searched Bakura’s face…relief finally overtaking him. “Here, let me help you back up.” Bakura gently scooped Yugi back up and carried him over to the bed.

“What time is it? How did I get here?”

“It’s almost two. I saw some weirdo trying to drag you down the stairs at the Pyramid so I stopped him. Don’t you remember?” Yugi shook his head no. “He claimed you told him you were going home with him or some bullshit. Well, to be honest I wasn’t really listening. I just kind of punched him in the jaw and he stumbled down the stairs before he had a chance to finish his story. I don’t think he’ll be coming back to the bar anymore, I think I might have done some serious damage to his jaw.”

Yugi gave the pale male a look, suddenly realizing what had happened. “Kura… I…”

“You shouldn’t go out alone, Babyface. It’s not safe. I don’t want anything to happen to you.” Bakura cupped Yugi’s chin in his hand. Yugi nodded. He had forgotten that Bakura worked at the Pyramid as a bouncer while he went to school.

That’s how they had met. Yugi was dancing with some other random boy and Bakura was watching him. Their eye contact held, Yugi told the boy he needed to go to the bathroom and sauntered over to Bakura and hit on him. The bartenders at the Pyramid were used to getting hit on. But certainly not the security staff.

Their first interaction had been too perfect:

    ”I’m working here.”

“I can see that, you’re doing a good job protecting this wall.” Bakura made a face. “I just want a name.”

“Bakura. And who the hell are you?”

“The guy you’re having sex with tonight.” Bakura smirked. “You can call me Yugi though.”

And then as if they were in a movie that Monifah song “Touch It” started playing.

Yugi thought about it for a moment. Bakura didn’t work Wednesday nigh He He gave his pale-faced rescuer a look. “Why were you at the bar, Bakura?”

“I didn’t get a chance to get my check last week. So I came in to pick it up and went upstairs to say hi to Mai. That’s when I saw you. I couldn’t find your car in the parking lot, and you must have left your house key in it because when we got back to your place we couldn’t get in. I tried buzzing your apartment but Blondie wasn’t home.”

“JOEY… oh gods, he must be worried sick…”

“Not, anymore, I called him. He’s actually on his way over here to pick you up. I guess he doesn’t trust me to keep you safe.” Yugi narrowed his eyes at the strange look on Bakura’s face. “It’s my own fault for telling him you were drunk. I should have lied and said you were here the whole time.”

    “Kura… thank you for…”

“Of course, Babyface.” Bakura kissed Yugi softly. Yugi curled up into his embrace. “Just promise me you won’t go getting drunk alone again, okay?”

“I’ll never do that again, I swear. I learned my lesson. I was so mad at Joey. I just didn’t care. I know it sounds weird, but the whole time I was doing it I kept thinking about how angry Joey would be if he could see me. And that made me want to do it even more. But I was so stupid. It’s a Wednesday night. I have class and work tomorrow.”

“You’re going to be pretty hung over too.” Yugi nodded. “Hey, that reminds me…I was going to call you tonight, but forgot, you want to go do something tomorrow night?”

Yugi pulled away from Bakura, guilt riddling his thoughts. “I can’t I have plans already.”

“How about Friday then?” Yugi shook his head no. “Of course you’re busy, you’re very popular, aren’t you?” Yugi looked down, feeling horrible. It wasn’t like Bakura was his boyfriend, he was free to do whatever he wanted…but he couldn’t help feeling like he was cheating on him or something by being with other guys. Maybe it was the alcohol clouding his thinking but he found himself really caring for Bakura. “ we’ we’ll do something next weekend, Babyface. No biggie.”

“You can come with me to Yami’s birthday party Saturday night.” Bakura gave Yugi a look. “If you want to…I mean…you don’t have to I…”

“I’d love to.” Yugi smiled and snuggled back up into Bakura. Bakura kissed him carefully. Yugi cooed. Yugi allowed Bakura to deepen the kiss. He’s so gentle with me, and so loving…I feel so safe with him… I don’t even want to think about what could have happened to me if he hadn’t been there.

The doorbell rang. “Damn it. That best friend of yours is always interrupting me.” Yugi smiled. “I guess he can have you back now.” Bakura stood up and Yugi followed him out of the bedroom. What would Joey say, he’d probably be furious at him. Joey care muc much, and he was always forgetting that, taking him for granted. What was his problem?

    “Yugi!”

    “Joey…”

“Yugi, I was so worried. I’m so sorry, Yug.” Joey knelt in front of his roommate to Bakura and Yugi’s shock. “I should never have said that to you, Yugi. I’m so so sorry.”

“Oh, JoI’m I’m sorry I scared you.” Yugi grabbed Joey, hard and held him. “I messed up again, Joey… I know how upset you must be with me.”

“No, Yug, no. I could never be upset with you. I’m just so glad you’re okay.”

“I love you, Babe. I love you so much, I’ll never run off on you like that again, you just… you made me so mad… and when you said you didn’t care…”

“I do care. So much. I love you too.”

“It’s okay, now Joey. We both said a lot of stuff in anger. I won’t scare you ever again, I promise.” Yugi presented Joey his wrist and Joey invaded it with a barrage of kisses. “I’d be nowhere if you didn’t worry about me like you do. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.”

“Come on, let’s go home. It’s late.” Yugi smiled. Joey stood up and resisted the urge to pick Yugi up and carry him like he used to do when they were younger. He settled with holding his hand. Yugi cleared his throat and Joey glanced at Bakura who had stood very still and watched the entire exchange.

Joey swallowed. “Thank you for finding him and keeping him safe. I do appreciate it, Bakura.”

“You’re not the only one who cares about him, Joey.” Joey gave Bakura a look but said nothing.

“Goodnight, Kura.” Yugi let Bakura kiss his cheek and then Joey held his hand and led him to the car.

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“Yugi, come on…Bakura’s going to be here any second.”

“Coming, Babe. I’m just doing my hair.” Joey rolled his eyes and slumped back onto the couch, Tristan wrapped his arm around him. Since they were all going to the same place Yugi suggested Bakura take his SUV and they all ride with him to Yami’s birthday party.

Yugi’s cell phone rang. “That’s him, pick that up for me, Babe?” Joey leaned over and opened the flip phone.

“Yeah, we’ll be right there. Okay. Bye.” Joey ended the call and stood up. “Yugi, he’s down stairs, let’s go.”

“I’m coming right now.” Yugi walked out of the room.

“Nice pants, Yugi,” Tristan commented with a smile.

“You like, Tristan? Look how my ass looks in them.” Yugi spun around in his tight, reatheather pants with a giggle.

    “Very nice.”

“Okay, enough of that, Yugi…let’s get this over with.” Joey opened the door to their apartment. “You have the gifts right?”

“Got them.” Joey locked the door and they headed for the elevator.

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“And now everyone, please give a warm birthday welcome to the man of the evening, my gorgeous boyfriend, Yami.” The spotlight moved from Seto Kaiba and to the grand staircase. Yami started walking down the stairs amid cheers and catcalls.

He walked down the stairs confidently, smiling. Even with out the spotlight all eyes would have been on him. He was wearing a pair of tight fitting black pants and a free flowing, silk maroon shirt that was unbuttoned to the middle of his chest. Seto hadn’t been lying when he said that he was gorgeous.

“You’re so hot, baby,” Seto spoke. Yami blew his lover a kiss.

“You’re lucky you have a man, Yami…I’d definitely screw you senseless if you didn’t,” someone called. Given the reaction the crowd made at the person’s comment it was clear he wasn’t in the minority on that one.

Even Joey had to admit that Yami looked one hundred percent fuckable at the moment.

Yami walked over to his taller boyfriend and hugged him. Seto leaned over and gave him a kiss. “Look how many people came here, Baby. Look how much everyone loves you.” The crowd cheered again. Yami smirked. “Happy birthday, Baby.”

“Thank you, Dragon. I love you so much.”

“And I love you too, you’re my everything.”

“Do you think the rumors are true, you think he sleeps around?” Bakura asked Tristan, who was standing next to him.

    “Definitely,” Tristan answered quietly.

Yami turned and looked back out at his friends. “And thank you everyone for coming. I love all of you so much. It’s going to be a great night; I hope you all enjoyed your cocktails. Dinner’s going to be served in the tent outside in about eight minutes.” The lights turned back on and the spotlightned ned off.

Yami was immediately surrounded by party guests.

“He’s as bad as Kaiba is. He just loves attention,” Joey thought, rolling his eyes.

    “He hadmakemake an entrance, Babe.”

“Of course, have us eat hors d'oeuvres for an hour, that way when he comes down he guarantees that everyone will be talking about his absence and will be here for his arrival,” Tristan explained. “He’s coming over here.”

“Shit, he has Kaiba with him,” Joey grumbled. He hadn’t seen Kaiba in two weeks since that incident in his bedroom. How was he going to get through this night?

“Yugi, oh, Aibou, you look fabulous.” Yami hugged Yugi tightly. “Thank you so much for coming.”

“Of course, Yami. Happy birthday.” Yami smiled.

“Thank you, Little One.” Yami turned his attentions to Joey. “Hi, Joey. Thanks for coming out tonight.”

“You’re welcome. Happy birthday.” Joey swallowed as Yami embraced him in a hug. He couldn’t help but smirk at the lunacy of it all. Did you know I just recently fucked your fiancé to be you phony asshole? Yami released the blond. “These are our friends, Bakura and Tristan. Guys this is Yami.” Yami shook their hands.

“You both look familiar to me.”

“Bakura works as at the Pyramid and Tristan works at Kaiba Corp,” Yugi answered.

“That’s probably why. Seto, Dragon, come here, say hello to our guests.” Seto stood next to Yami, his eyes scanning the four guys in front of him. “Tristan works for Kaiba Corp, Dragon.”

“I was wondering why I thought I recognized you.” Seto extended his hand. “You’re Michael’s assistant, am I right?”

“Yes.” Tristan shook his hand politely.

    “This is Bakura, Dragon.”

    “Nice to meet you, Bakura.”

    “You too.” They shook hands.

Seto settled his eyes on Yugi and Joey. “It’s always a pleasure to see you guys again. How are you two?”

“We’re good, Seto. Thank you,” Yugi answered simply.

“Glad to hear it.” Seto looked at Joey for a moment, Joey resisted the urge to vomit. “I heard you found a new job, Puppy.”

    “Yeah.”

    “Congratulations.”

“Yeah.” Seto gave Joey a look.

“Well, Puppy, if there is anything you need from me, you know my door is always open.” He smiled.

You’re zipper is always open, you contemptible pief shf shit.

“Come on, Baby, we have other people to say hello to.”

“Okay, Seto. We’ll see you at dinner. You guys are sitting at our table.” Seto held Yami’s hand as they went to go see more of their guests.

“I hate them. Both of them. I hate having to keep up appearances with them. The thought of having to eat dinner with them is making my skin crawl.”

“Baby, why do you dislike them so much?” Tristan asked.

“Yeah, Blondie, don’t you think you’re overreacting? They’re fake as all shit, but that’s no reason to hate them.”

Now was not the time or the place to explain Joey’s reasons. He hadn’t told Tristan about Yugi’s suicide attempt yet, and he wasn’t sure how much Bakura knew about Yugi and Yami’s former situation. And as for the Seto Kaiba incident, he never planned on telling anyone about that.

After dinner Yami had one of the staff turn on the disco lights and it was time to put the unused ballroom in the Kaiba mansion to use. Bakura and Yugi had been dancing in a corner for a while until Yugi spotted Joey dancing with Tristan. He dragged the white haired man with him as they walked back over to where Joey and Tristan were.

“So, Joey…” Joey froze as his eyes focused on his smaller friend. “All those times you insisted you couldn’t dance with me.”

    “I don’t dance…”

“What is this, you’re obviously dancing.” Yugi brushed against the blond and started grinding into him.

“Don’t let him get away with not dancing,” Tri ins insisted, getting behind Joey again. He pressed into him and started moving his hips. Joey was trapped.

“Take a picture of this, Kura,” Yugi insisted as Joey’s body started responding to the heavy beat. Bakura did, Joey making a displeased face. “Come on, Bakura, join us.” Bakura got behind Yugi. The four moved in sync, none of them really noticing that they were getting attention.

“You guys are fantastic,” Yami said, walking over to them. “I didn’t know you danced, Joey.”

    “I don’t.” Joey stopped.

“Baby…” Tristan started giving Joey a soft kiss on the neck. “Don’t be embarrassed.” Joey pouted. “Fine be that way. Yami, would you like to dance with me?”

“Sure.” Yami smiled. Joey made a face as Tristan shifted so he could dance with the crimson-eyed man. Yugi was busy doing some interesting dance moves with Bakura, obviously trying to out do what Tristan and Yami were doing. “Such a show off, Aibou,” Yami mentioned as he wound his body down only to wind back up slowly. Both spiky haired men were facing each other, their backs to their respective dance partners.

“Don’t be jealous that I’m better than you, Yami.” Yugi lifted his hands over his head and let them caress the spikes in his hair. Meanwhile he kept his entire body still except for his hips, which moved back and forth seductively. “Of course it’s not surprising I’m a better dancer, Yami…I’ve always been better than you in bed.”

Joey shot Yugi a look. He knew Yugi was plotting something, he just wasn’t sure what.

“Oooh… this is the best song!” Joey glanced at Yami and listened to the lyrics.
