Conclusion
*6 months later*
“Hey sexy, here’s today’s mail.” Bakura said as he walked in the living-room and tossed
a pile of letters on the coffee table, along with a set of car keys. He threw his long black trench
coat over the arm of the sofa and plopped down next to Atem. Atem smiled and took the thief
into his arms, warming him from the cold outside. “How was work?”
Bakura nuzzled his cheek against Atem’s shoulder and sighed. “It went well, I guess. Ishtar was
late again. I ended up working half our shift alone -again. Can you believe that crazy son of a
bitch actually thought I was going to share the tip money? Fucking moron.”Atem rubbed Bakura’s tight shoulders and placed a soft kiss on top his head. “What was his
excuse for being late this time? Did his motorcycle break down again?”“Nah, this time he claimed one of his sluts passed out drunk while they were fucking and left
him tied to the bed. You should have heard him... ‘It took me hours to chew through those
ropes!’” Bakura laughed.Atem chuckled as he kneaded Bakura’s tensed muscles. “That guy sure comes up with enough
excuses. Oh, by the way, the coffee in the coffee pot is fresh, I just made it a few minutes before
you got home.”Bakura raised his eyebrow towards the coffeepot, giving Atem a suspicious grin. “Are you
hinting to me that you’d like a cup?”“Maybe.” Atem indicated as he kissed Bakura’s cheek.Bakura shook his head as he got up and went into the kitchen. “Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I
ordered you a new duel disk to replace the one I uh...damaged the other night. ” He mused as he
poured them both some coffee.“You didn’t have to do that, Bakura. It wasn’t really your fault that it was broken...” Atem
answered a bit bashfully.Bakura walked back into the living-room carrying the two mugs and sat them both down on the
coffee table. “I know, but if I hadn’t been fucking you like a kamikaze hit-man, that shelf never
would have fallen off the wall.”A broad grin crept across Atem’s face. “At least we were on the other side of the wall when it
fell...”Bakura burst out laughing as he got up off the sofa and went into the kitchen. “Yeah, no shit.”He searched around in the refrigerator for something to eat, but could only come up with a half
eaten container of expired blueberry yogurt and a hairy brown coconut. “Damn, there’s never
anything to eat in this place. Feel like going out tonight?” Bakura asked as he slammed the
refrigerator door shut.“Anywhere specific in mind?” Atem asked as he sorted through the mail. Bakura grabbed his coat off the sofa and pulled it on, than snatched his car keys off the coffee
table. “Yeah, that Italian place where they serve unlimited cheesy garlic bread after 5pm. Let’s
roll, sexy baby, I’m starving.”Atem got up to get his coat as Bakura anxiously paced in front of the door. A loud rapping on the
door practically scared Bakura out of his pants. “Holy shit! You expecting someone?” Atem pulled on his coat and shook his head. “Uhh...no, are you?”“No, and I’m not really in the mood to visit either. I haven’t eaten in three fucking days! I just
want to GO!”“Well look and see who it is before we go jumping out any windows.” Atem suggested.Bakura peeked out into the hallway through the peephole in the door. “Whoa! Holy-oh-fuck! It’s
the cops! I gotta hide!” The tomb-robber gasped as he bolted for the bedroom like a jack rabbit,
leaving Atem to answer the door. The former Pharaoh greeted the officer. “May I help you?” The uniformed officer removed his hat. “Are you Yugi Motou?”‘Not really’ Atem laughed inwardly. “Yes, I’m Yugi Motou, is there a problem?”The officer took a deep breath as he bowed his head. “This is always the hardest part of my job,
you may want to be seated for what I’m about to tell you. Mind if I come inside?”Atem nodded his head, leading the officer into the living-room and offering him a chair. “So
what’s this all about?” Atem asked curiously as he took a seat. The officer folded his hands in his lap. “It’s about your grandfather, Sugoroku Motou. His
residence was broken into late last night, and.....I hate having to break this to you like this...Your
grandfather didn’t make it. I’m very sorry.”Atem was a bit thrown back by the news. He thought he might have misunderstood the officer.
“Are you telling me that my grandfather is...dead?” He asked, his voice faltering. The officer nodded his head somberly. Atem took a deep breath. He was over-whelmed by what
he had just heard. “But...how? Who? W-why?” He stammered. Sugoroku’s death was something
he’d never expected to hear. He was actually expecting that Bakura had gotten into some
sort of mischief again, as usual.“I’m not sure you really want to hear the details...” The officer replied nervously.Atem bit his lip and sighed. “I can handle it, please explain to me exactly how this happened.”The officer went on to tell Atem how the Game Shop had been broken into and how the person
that broke in had beat the hell out of Sugoroku and brutally raped him up the ass with some sort
of pointed object. He would have survived the rape and the pummeling, but the person seemed
to want him dead more than they wanted rare cards and money. They’d tied the old man up
naked to a chair and covered his body in small cuts, letting him bleed to death slowly. There
were no leads on the person who’d committed the hideous crime, and there was very little
evidence left behind to follow up on, so it didn’t seem likely they’d catch their culprit. A small tear fell from Atem’s eye and ran down his cheek. “Grandfather......” He sniffled. The officer got up from his chair and slapped his hat back on his head. “I’m sorry for your loss,
Mr. Motou. Rest assured, we’re all working our hardest down at the station to catch the person
who did this to your grandfather.” Atem swallowed hard as he showed the officer out. Once the door was closed, Bakura
crawled out from under the bed and joined Atem in the kitchen.“What the hell was that all about?” Bakura asked curiously, noticing the solemn expression on
Atem’s face.“Yugi’s grandfather was murdered last night.” Atem answered candidly.Bakura didn’t seem phased. He stuffed his hands into his jacket pockets and shrugged it off. “Oh
well, shit happens. Now come on, let’s roll. Free cheesy garlic bread awaits us.”Atem ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.“How can you be so casual about this, Bakura? He’s dead, gone...Where’s your compassion?”Bakura rolled his eyes and put his hand on Atem’s shoulder. “Death means nothing to me, you
should know that. After seeing everybody I ever loved, my entire family...my father, mother, all
eight of my sisters and 14 brothers, aunts, uncles...my cat Jingles... all of them thrown into a big
pot and cooked into these items we wear around our necks, I’ve learned that death is just a part
of life. There’s no way to bring them back once they’ve crossed over, so you get over it. There’s not
much else you can do.” Atem remained silent as he processed what Bakura had just told him. Though his explanation
was crude, it did make sense. Bakura had been though a lot in his life. He’d seen things that the
palace walls had sheltered Atem from, much like life with grandfather had sheltered Yugi. Bakura grabbed Atem’s hand and started pulling him out the door. “C’mon, don’t dwell on that
fat old bastard dying. He got what he deserved anyway. Just be glad you weren’t there when it
happened, otherwise you may have been a victim as well.” Atem let Bakura pull him down the hallway and into the elevator. He felt horrible. He didn’t feel
like eating. He had too much on his mind. The former Pharaoh remained completely silent all through supper. Bakura didn’t seem
to mind though, he had his free cheesy garlic bread to keep him happy. On the ride home, Atem made Bakura drive past the old Game Shop. Bakura parked their
car across the street and watched Atem as he got out of the car and crossed the road. Bakura
popped a few coins in the parking meter and followed Atem. They both stood next to each other
looked at the yellow police tape surrounding the building. A few officers were still on the scene.
Bakura left Atem for a minute to go speak with one of them. A few minutes later he returned to
his lover’s side. “Atem? You going to be alright?” The thief asked.
Atem just stared blankly at his former home. Bakura loosely draped his arm around Atem’s
shoulder and tilted his head to the side to look at his companion. “The coppers I talked to said
they’ve cleaned up most of the crime scene, and that it would be alright if we went inside. Want
to?”Atem let out a long sigh and closed his eyes. “I guess.”Bakura led Atem through the front doors and stopped when they were inside.Atem stared blankly at his former home while Bakura held on to him. He didn’t look much like a
Pharaoh at the moment, infact, he looked more like a scared little Yugi. Shattered innocence was
spelled out on his face in black and white.“Can you...take me...up to my old room?” Atem requested hesitantly.Bakura nodded his head and took Atem up to the bedroom where the big blow out had happened
only six months prior. To their surprise, nothing had changed; everything was just as Yugi had
left it. The lock on the door was still broken, and the puzzle Yugi had been working on that
fateful night was still laying on his desk unfinished. Atem walked over to the bed and stood
looking down at it. Bakura could tell by Atem’s actions and facial expression that he was
communicating to Yugi through their mind-link, so he left him alone and started rummaging
through some of Yugi’s stuff. After an hour or so, Atem turned to Bakura and nodded his head. “I’m ready to go now.”
Bakura nodded his head sharply and reached for Atem’s hand. “Feeling any better?” He asked
cautiously as they started to leave.Atem nodded his head as they passed by Yugi’s old desk. He noticed the undisturbed puzzle and
realized there was only one more piece to put into place. “I think so.” He answered Bakura as he
popped the last piece of the puzzle into place. Bakura smirked at Atem’s action; he always
seemed to need closure on things in his life....uh..death.....afterlife....whatever the hell their
existence was. Before they were out the door, Atem turned to take one last look at the room.
Bakura stood next to him and waited silently, allowing Atem as much time as he needed.“Bakura?” Atem asked gingerly as he turned to face his lover.“Yes?” Bakura answered, looking down into Atem’s forlorn crimson eyes.“Do you ever doubt my love for you?”“No, not anymore. I did at first, I can’t deny that. I did some really crazy shit to try to get your
attention. I didn’t realize what I was even doing at the time, but I don’t regret it either. Love can
make you do some crazy shit sometimes. I had to fight tooth and nail my entire life to
get what I wanted, and that attitude followed me into my afterlife, I guess.”Atem smiled as he reached up and wound a lock of Bakura’s hair around his fingers. “I never
realized how much I meant to you until ...that night. As much as I wanted to stay here and live,
I just couldn’t imagine living here without you in my life.”Bakura reached up and brushed his fingertips lightly along Atem’s cheek.“You chose me, even after all the times I tried to kill you in the past and what-not, you still
chose me. That proved to me what we have together is real, and nobody can take that away from
us.......ever.”Atem rested his forehead on Bakura’s chest and wrapped his arms around the thief’s waist.
“Even though we don’t always see eye to eye on things, it doesn’t mean we can’t walk together
arm and arm. I love you, Yami Bakura.”Bakura held his Pharaoh close and kissed the top of his head. “I love you too......now let’s get the
fuck out of here. It smells like old person.” Bakura led Atem out of the Game Shop and back to
their car, walking with their arms linked together through the dark night.“Bakura?” Atem asked halfway home.“Yes?” Bakura answered as he drove through a red light.“Can you pull over?” “Why?” Bakura asked as he looked around.“Just do it, please?” Bakura pulled the car over as asked and looked at Atem curiously as the Pharaoh reached for the
door handle. “Where you going?” He asked, noticing they were parked near a pay phone booth.Atem got out of the car and turned to Bakura. “C’mere for a minute.” He answered as he closed
the door. Bakura followed Atem’s lead and got out of the car, leaving it running with the radio on. He
walked around the front of the vehicle and cocked his head. “What’s this about?” He asked.Atem hoisted himself up on the hood of the car and pulled Bakura into a surprise kiss.“I want you to fuck me, Bakura......fuck me like you mean it too. Show me exactly how much
you love me.”A devilish grin spread across Bakura’s face Atem’s hand roamed under his trench coat.“You mean it?” He chuckled lightly as he unsnapped Atem’s jeans.Atem wrapped his legs around Bakura’s hips and moaned lightly. “Yes, I mean it.....110%.”Bakura scooped Atem into his arms and laughed. “Well, in that case......Oh, look, there’s a
phone booth, hmmm....shall we, my King?”
After their wild screw in the phone booth, they got back into their car and headed home.
They both wore smiles on their faces, but it had nothing to do with the great sex they’d just had
together. Bakura was smiling because after 5000 years, he had finally found somebody that
could relate to him. Somebody who shared a similar disposition. What happened thousands of
years ago didn’t mean shit anymore, the present was what counted now. Atem was smiling for
basically the same reason, but with one extra little undisclosed detail. He and Bakura were more
alike than even Bakura realized. Atem closed his eyes and listened to the music on the radio as
his fingers trailed along a pointy dagger concealed in his jacket pocket. “Can you turn this up?”
He asked Bakura as they whizzed through another stop light. Bakura nodded his head and did as
the Pharaoh had asked, cranking the car stereo as loud as it would go. They both smiled at each
other as they headed home, listening to the song on the radio.

**************************So did ya expect that kind of ending? Just curious. I thought it was pretty cool. I guess I need to
add a character death advisory now. I didn’t actually expect to have anybody killed off when I
started this. (Remember, I said I was wingin’ it. Hehe, I wasn’t lying!) Gramps annoys me, I’m
sorry, it had be done. Atem, Bakura, and I would like to thank you all for reading this. Much love to you all. (Marik would thank you too, but he hasn't quite chewed through his ropes yet 0.o)
