CHAPTER 7

Yugi woke at 8:30 to see Yami leaning against the wall by his window still sleeping.
He blushed a little at how Yami looked when sleeping, shaking his head he debated mentally

/Hmm. Should I wake him first, then get ready? or get ready then wake../
But was mentally interrupted

*No need to wake me*
Yugi gave a small squeak of surprise and nearly fell off the bed, then out loud he scolded

“Gees don’t do that! Your gonna give me an early heart attack!”
Yami started laughing, after he was finished he stated

“My we wouldn’t want that would we? Ok so you kind of understand that we can hear each other mentally right?”
With a nod from Yugi, he continued

“Ok. Do you know how to read or search for me, like I can you?”
A shake

“Well you have been able too when you called for help, but you weren’t thinking. Or when reading your friends and family minds. Anyway think of me when you want to speak without words. Try it now”
Yugi looked a little nervous but decided to close his eyes and try

/Like this? Am I doing it right?/

*Yes exactly like that. That was perfect*
Again Yugi blushed but this time Yami was able to see it and he chuckled. Instead of accepting it, Yugi dashed out of the room. His excuse

“Ok well I have to get ready for work”
Mentally adding

/You can wait in the living room, make yourself comfortable/
Yami smiled and left the bedroom too go to the living room. About ten minutes later Yugi came down freshly groomed
and clothed for work in the shop

“you clean up fast and might I add good”
That made Yugi almost trip over himself and a huge blush came over his face he nervously giggled while rubbing the
back of his neck looking out the window. Then he coughed and seemed to remember something because he dashed off
once again, Yami heard him pick up something and push it with his advanced hearing he heard a ringing

“yeah um hi Joey I thought I’d let you know I won’t be coming to school today can you tell the others that please and if
you want to know I’m fine and I’ll be working in the shop if any of you want to come visit for a sec. Ok bye”
Click and a drop then Yugi was back in the living room Yami raised an eyebrow at him

“oh I had to tell me friends I wasn’t going and they could visit if they wanted”

“but you only called one person? The one that threw the rock at my head. Joey right?”

“ah yes but he’s the only one that has a spare and go home for lunch so he’ll tell the others”

“ok now I get it. Oh you should get going you start in 2 minutes”
Yugi looked at the clock

“whoa! Yea your right ok bye”
He bolted down the stairs before Yami could say bye, which made him chuckle at the site. So Yami sat back on the couch
and listened to Yugi talk downstairs.

Yugi came out of the door and greeted his grandpa after he was done with a costumer

“morning grandpa”
Solomon jumped a little at Yugi’s loud cheerful voice and when he turned and saw the huge beaming smile Yugi had on
here couldn’t help but smile back

“and good morning to you too Yugi. Did you sleep well after that dream you were having?”

“ya I did Yami stayed over and shared Yami shared some memories with me and best of all I learned a new trick then
after work Yami’s gonna start training me to control some of my powers”

“and what was this new trick you learned?”
He was amused at how happy Yugi looked when talking about a new trick

“ok don’t freak though”
Solomon looked worried when Yugi said don’t freak so now he just couldn’t guess
And upstairs Yami was chuckling because he knew what Yugi was showing his grandpa

/grandpa? The new trick is I can read and talk to people in their minds/
Solomon just stood there with his left eye twitching slowly Yugi spoke out loud

“grandpa? Um hello in there? Oops guess I shouldn’t have showed you. Um ok snapped out of it anytime now”
Slowly he closed his eyes then opened them and shook his head

“wow that’s some trick. That sure took me by surprise. Ok now get to work you silly”
After receiving another huge smile he saw Yugi walk off to the supply closet and come out with a broom to sweep.
It had been a long day and now they only had 15 more minutes before the shop would close and the sun was already
starting to set. Yugi had cleaned the whole store and was now behind the till with Solomon at the back room checking
supplies. Suddenly Yugi felt uneasy and began too fell blood coming from his neck, then he saw a purple haired man
coming for the store. Panicking because he started to see the man clearer and it was the one from Yami’s memories,
the man was at the door and pulling it open he quickly called his grandpa mentally

/grandpa! Please come out here quickly, another bad mans here/
Just as quickly Solomon was there

“ok Yugi you can go now. I’ll take over for the rest”
Happily he jumped off the stool and headed for the stairs but stopped in his tracks when the man said

“actually it’s the young boy here that I have business with my names Pegasus”

/Yaammmmiii/
Solomon went in front of Yugi who had just reached the stairs, Yugi turned around slowly and hid behind his grandpa
while Solomon asked

“and what kind of business do you have with my grandson?”

“out of my way old man I can easily shred you”
Solomon didn’t back down instead he began pushing Yugi up the stairs. Pegasus then lunged for Solomon’s throat ripping
the tissue while he chucked him aside, Yugi screamed at that and tried to run to his grandpa but Pegasus grabbed his arm
and pinned him to the wall in less the a second

“YAMIIIII!”
Yugi screamed that made Pegasus chuckle

“it seems that he has abandoned you little one. He may have marked you but I don’t care. I do what I want”
Yugi had his eyes closed and was struggling when he felt Pegasus start to lean down he stopped breathing then heard

“I have not abandoned my mate”
And Pegasus leave him, so Yugi opened his eyes to see Yami had pinned Pegasus to the wall by the throat but he didn’t
care he looked around and spotted his grandpa on the floor and ran to him not paying attention to what Yami was saying

“GRANDPA!”
Yugi took his hand and held it he began crying

“GRANDPA? PLEASE WAKE UP! AT LEAST OPEN YOUR EYES! PLEASE!”
He faintly saw Solomon’s eyes try to open

“JUST HOLD ON GRANDPA!”
In the background he heard Yami

“and now you will never bother anyone again”
Pegasus began screaming in pain then there was nothing except for some dust that filled the room. Then Yami was beside him without looking he cried

“YAMI! QUICK HEAL HIM!”
He saw Yami’s hand reach out to Solomon’s throat. It was glowing and Solomon started opening his eyes a little but then it stopped and Solomon wasn’t healed he heard

“shit! It’s not enough the only way to save him is to”
Yami paused and came closer to Solomon, he tried to get Solomon to look him in the eyes

“Solomon? Listen to me! The only way to save you is if you get changed! and Yugi doesn’t want to lose you! COME ON
ANSWER ME! This isn’t working let me try his mind”

*Solomon answer me. Will you change to save your life?*

/change into what?/

*arrgh don’t have time your slipping. To change into a vampire it’s the only way to save you*

/oh um ok because I don’t want Yugi to see me die like this/
Out loud Yami looked to Yugi

“ok I’m going to change him so go into another room”
Yugi just shook his head

“uh-uhn just do it because I’m leaving grandpa”
Without any hesitation Yami went behind Solomon quickly numbed his neck and bit, all the while Yugi held his grandpa’s hand. In a minute Yami pulled away, again he did some healing and Solomon went limp, he heard Yugi’s breath catch when
he did that

“he’ll be fine now Yugi and like Ann now needs some rest let’s get him upstairs and into bed”
Yugi let go of Solomon’s hand and stood up, Yami then picked Solomon bridle-style and began to walk upstairs after Yugi. Yugi went to a door and pushed it open then Yami carefully walked into that door with Solomon and saw Yugi at a bed pulling the blankets back a little. So when Yugi was out of the way Yami placed Solomon gently down onto the bed, then Yugi took off his shoes plus socks and place Solomon’s feet under the blankets and pulled them up until they were at chest. Yami came behind Yugi and wrapped his arms around him, Yugi gratefully accepted it and snuggled close to him Yami whispered

“he’ll be alright tomorrow he just needs rest and so do you little one”
He was about to agree when they both heard a scream from downstairs that had made Yugi jump so bad he head butted Yami in the jaw a ‘oof’ resulted but Yugi wouldn’t let him go, he was also shaking. Then they heard running footsteps from outside come in and a

“WHAT’S WRONG?!”
Yami leaned close and whispered

“I think it’s your friends little one. We should let them know your ok”
He nodded, took Yami’s hand and started for downstairs a minute later he became very aware of the smell of blood and of fear? a large amount of it, whispering so low only Yami would be able to hear him he asked

“is that fear I smell? If so I didn’t know fear was able to smell”
Looking he saw Yami nod, they both reached a creaky floor board and heard a screech

“what was that?”

“be careful everyone. We don’t know if it’s that thing that had Yugi. Maybe he finished them off”
Without whispering Yami said

“not too trusting are you?”
He received several screams and gasps then once he was close to the bottom of the steps he got much more screams that
he had to cover his ears as well as Yugi but they didn’t see him because he was well hidden behind Yami

“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THEM YOU FREAK?!”
Wiggling his finger in his ear, Yami asked

“are you quite finished screaming? Yugi is fine and his grandpa is resting from an attack that’s why all the blood is here.
Yugi won’t you show your friends your alright?”
A muffled voice that his friends barely understood came from behind Yami

“no way I am almost passing out from the smell of blood and fear. Come upstairs if you want to talk I’m out of here”
Then quick footsteps up and a chuckle from Yami

“well won’t you come up for a moment?”
And Yami walked upstairs hearing more footsteps and whimpers. Once he reached the top he didn’t see Yugi in the living room he briefly wondered if he went back to check on his grandpa

“Yugi?”
He asked softly

“yes? Oh ask my friends if they want a drink while I‘m in here”

“ok”
he turned to the group and saw the brunette girl flinch away and hide behind the blonde boy, the result was

“HEY?!”
Yami laughed at that and before the blonde snapped, he asked

“ok would any of you want a drink? While Yugi’s in the kitchen”
They all shook their heads so he shrugged and softly replied

“no they don’t want a drink little one”

“ok”
And Yugi came out holding a can of pop and came to Yami after he took he said

“you know I’ve never asked you if you ever drink or eat while I’ve known you”
Yami chuckled and wrapped his arms around Yugi, totally ignoring his friends open mouthed stares more so when Yugi
leaned into Yami, then Yami answered

“well I don’t really need to eat or drink. Comes from being trapped for 500 years”
Yugi looked up at him and lifted his pop

“you should try this”
Yami chuckled and took the pop he sniffed it first and that made Yugi laugh and then took a sip, a good thing to because
he started coughing when the carbonated liquid went down his throat. After his coughing attack ended he shook his head and made a hissing sucking sound that made Yugi and actually everyone in the room laugh again he gave a quick shake of his head and passed the pop back to Yugi while saying

“whoa I think not. Gees how can you stand that”
Yugi took a swig while looking at Yami sideways after that he shrugged and answered

“don’t know guess you mostly just get used to it. Sometimes it really refreshing”

“I wonder why”
He said sarcastically making Yugi giggle. Truth was that they had forgotten his friends were there too, till Joey cleared his throat to get their attention

“well what the hell happened down there that’s a lot of blood. I thought the worst”
Yugi looked down and held Yami’s arms tighter which made Yami hold him as equally tight

“truth is Joey the worst did happen. Yami did try to heal grandpa but he couldn’t all the way so he turned him to save his life.
A man had come to get me that’s what led to all that you see down there. But he’s alright now he just has to rest”
He said with a sad smile and teary eyes, again Yami squeezed him tighter

“that’s right little one he is better, now he just needs rest and like I said before they came. So do you so let them out the
back door then you go to sleep and if you want I’ll watch him tonight. But first I’ll clean downstairs. Ok?”
Yugi nodded his head and went away from Yami’s embrace

“ok you guy’s you can come out this way and I’ll see you at school tomorrow. Maybe?”
But Yami hollered

“oh yes you will”
Yugi giggled

“yeah ok I will see you all tomorrow. So good night”
They all went downstairs and Yugi bid them farewell before he closed and locked the door. Then went back upstairs to meet Yami in the living room, Yugi tried too hold back a yawn but it was no use. Yami smiled and pointed upstairs so Yugi did that with Yami right on his tail

“ok you get ready for bed and I’ll check on your grandpa”
He nodded and went for his bedroom pulled on some clean pjs then went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth. By the
time he was done Yami was out in the hallway leaning against the wall Yugi smiled brightly at him and Yami returned it.
Yami had tucked him in and left, though he left the door open a crack Yugi was asleep by the time Yami was at the end of
the hallway. So he went down to clean the store and when he finished he started for Solomon’s room but nit before he
checked in on Yugi. He felt so happy of how peaceful Yugi looked when he was sleeping tonight, he closed the door and
went into Solomon’s room.
