Chapter 5: New Love, New Look

"And what's in it for me?"

"If you manage to win him over he's for you to do as you please."

"Interesting. I'll be thinking about it."

"You'd better think fast coz apparently their first date will be this weekend, and don't fool yourself I've seen the way you look at him and I know that you'd take him the second you could." With that, the mysterious stranger left leaving the other to think about his course of action.

"AAAAAAAHHHH!!!!" Syrus frantically searched his closet for something to wear. His closet is now in total disarray due to him clawing through his stuff trying to find the perfect outfit for tonight. "How come Jaden already picked out what he's going to be wearing and I can't pick a single thing! The movie starts in 3 hours! Eeeep!" Syrus squealed as he stumbled on the heap of clothes and took down half of the clothes on top of him.

"Whoa! What's with all this stuff?" Hassleberry remarked as he came in the room looking for Syrus.

"Help!!!" came a muffled voice. "Hassleberry get me out of here!!"

It took a while before Hassleberry actually found Syrus and pulled him out. "Sy? I think there's something in your hair."

"What?" Syrus tried to see what it is and as he touched it, slimy residue stuck to his fingers. "Oh no! Gum! What am I gonna do? I don't need this right now!" Before Syrus could even start to panic, Hassleberry got an idea.

"Let's get you a haircut! After all, it's been a while since you last got one actually more like a year now."

"But I like my long, spiky-ish hair..."

"Well stop whining and let's get you fixed up and we'll shop too! The saloon I know is in the mall so while you shop I'll get you what to wear. How's that?"

"Fine. Fine. It's not like I could refuse. And we need to be back in about 2 hours ok." With a great sigh, Syrus just followed along hoping he'd still make it in time for his date. Hassleberry just nodded briefly and wrote a note telling Jaden to wait for Syrus at the movies instead, �coz he might be a little late.

"What did you write down?"

"Just explaining... let's go! we don't have all day!"

Hassleberry, with Syrus in tow, took a good look at the place before he spotted who he was looking for.

"Yo Aster! You busy?"

"Nope. I'm just about to go on break. Why?"

"My buddy here needs a haircut to impress and we need to get it done quick. Come here and look."

"Oh My!" As Aster inspected the damage, he noticed that the gum was stuck in the hair all the way down to the roots. (Total exaggeration i know) "Ok I'll do it! I love a challenge!"

Without even being able to get a single word in, Syrus was thrown onto the chair and the haircut was underway. And while Syrus got his haircut Hassleberry waved goodbye and promised to be back with the clothes he could find for Syrus.

"I've seen you around haven't I?" Asked Aster.

"Yeah. I go to Duel Academy too. I didn't even know you worked cutting hair."

"That�s why no one really knows but, don�t get me wrong, I don't mind seeing people from school here but sometimes I get shy if I'm the one that has to cut their hair, but for you I'll make a special exception and besides I've done Hassleberry's hair before. So how did you want it cut?"

"I don't really know"

"Ok... I know the perfect haircut for you, hold on let me show you what it'll look like." Aster took a book from the desk containing haircuts for men and showed one particular haircut to Syrus.

"Oh wow! ok! i'm all for it!" With that, Aster started chopping off bits and pieces of Syrus' hair while Hassleberry was still out shopping and looking for the perfect outfit for Syrus on his first date.

"So why do you work here?"

"Well, last year i needed money because my parents were going through a hard time and i applied everywhere but I couldn't get any jobs, but then Atticus told me about this place so i applied here but i didn't have experience so they trained me here instead."

"Oh I see! Wait... who's Atticus?"

"Oh! That's Alexis' brother, we're dating but I barely get any alone time with him anymore... he's always so busy." As Aster cuts Syrus' hair, the two talked about everything they could think of from music to dueling and even about boys. Time passed by and soon enough Syrus got his new haircut. Hassleberry almost dropped the bags he's carrying as he walked in to see Syrus�s new haircut.

"Wow!" that was all Hassleberry could say walking in.

"Is it okay? Does it look bad?"

"Okay? You look hot!... err, well... hot-er... hehe"

"Thanks Aster." Hassleberry had his mouth gaped open as he walked up to Syrus. Syrus had his long spiky hair cut short. It's now in shorter spikes (way shorter spikes) that framed his face and makes his eye color pop out more. (Think of HighSchool Gohan's haircut in DragonballGT) "So what did you get me?" With that, Hassleberry snapped out of his daze and showed Syrus the outfit that he bought.

"Oh wow! Thanks! But we gotta hurry back so I could shower and change."

"Well, if you want, you could use the shower stall in the backroom. It's installed there for the employees but i'll let you have free use of it."

"Really? Thanks."

�I wonder why Syrus left me that note saying he�s gonna be late? (Hehehe) That�s my Syrus! Unpredictable as usual,� then Jaden mumbled in a whispered voice, �I guess I�ll wait for him here, there�s still half an hour before the movie starts.�

�Jaden! Sorry, but I had a bit of an accident� (blah�).� While Syrus tried to explain his new haircut and how it happened, Jaden�s attention shifted to Syrus� new �look.� Syrus� new haircut made his eyes pop out more making it seem brighter, and his face looked more defined while still maintaining that boy-ish charm. Then Jaden�s eyes roamed to the rest of Syrus�s outfit: Syrus wore a black leathered choker with the blood red male symbol crossed together accompanied by a black tanktop underneath a black fish netted shirt that cuts off at the elbow. Syrus also wore a black fingerless glove on his one hand with a silver flaming skull insignia, and his pants were black leather pants with silver chains on one side finished with black loafers. Needless to say, Syrus looked hot! This is only confirmed by Jaden�s gaping and drooling mouth.

�Jaden? Are you listening to me?� With the sudden interruption, Jaden recollected himself and just nodded a yes though he hadn�t comprehended a word Syrus had said. �Did you even-�

Just as Syrus was about to ask Jaden something, the older boy quickly changed the subject, �Um, we should get our tickets before the movie starts.�

�Okay.� As the two walked hand in hand inside the theater, a looming figure in the background decided to follow the new couple into the theater all the while thinking what is it he could do to make the two hate each other...
