Cng Yuugi, Atemu and Jounouchi, as well as Mokuba
and Seto Kaiba, were all seated in a rough semi-circle of couches, in the
living room of the Kaiba mansion. For the past half an hour, Yuugi had
recounted the full tale of Nenet, and Atemu’s revival. He left out no details
this time, and filled Kaiba in on Bakura’s resurrection, also. His audience had
stayed rapt and quiet throughout the whole conversation, with the exception of
a few quiet questions from Atemu and Kaiba.
Now, with
the story finished, and everyone knowing exactly what was going on, the group
was silent. Jou and Kaiba were deep in thought, and Mokuba was looking around,
worried.
Yami and
Atemu were deep in silent conversation;
‘If she just had the knowledge, and
no power, this Nenet girl would not worry me. But, she was able to do a very
difficult thing, and bring back a spirit from the shadow realm. Two, in fact,
as well as create perfect, biological bodies for them. That is a measure of
power usually reserved for High Priests, and Pharaohs. This is a serious
matter, Yuugi.’ The
last sentence held a slightly accusing tone.
I guess I didn’t think about it. I
was so shocked she knew about it all, I didn’t think about what it could mean.
But… why was she so interested in the Items, Yami?
‘Who knows. But the Millennium Items hold great power, even the ones not
possessed by a spirit. And a few of them are still unaccounted for. The power
the girl shows could have been through misuse of an Item.’
Yuugi’s
eyes went wide. He was nestled against Atemu’s body, on a loveseat. Jou and
Kaiba shared another, and Mokuba was perched on an armchair that looked much
too big for him, between the two couches.
But that’s too dangerous! She can’t
be allowed to keep one of the Items!
Atemu gave him a
dark look, quietly amused by his hikari,
‘I know.’
“Mister
Kaiba, sir!”
Everyone looked up. A nervous looking man was standing in the doorway. The
Kaiba-Corp logo was prominent on his jacket pocket, and Kaiba sat up a little
straighter.
“What is
it?”
“The helicopters have finished their sweep of the area, sir.”
“And?” Kaiba’s tone was impatient, and slightly pissy.
“They
haven’t located the girl, sir.” Everyone in the room sagged a little, from
disappointment, “But, they’ve reported sights of a teen boy with white hair.”
“Bakura?!” Atemu sat up a bit straighter in his chair. Kaiba spared him half a
glance, and the KC flunky looked at him, nervously.
“I, uh… I
don’t know, sir. The teen has been apparently living in an abandoned house,
over on the eastern side of town. Some of…” The man paused, then went quiet.
Kaiba
either didn’t notice the pause, or didn’t care. Yuugi, however, gave the man a
curious glance.
“Some
what?”
The flunky looked at him, a little less nervously.
“… Some of
the men say that they’ve seen two, identical boys at the house, on their
sweeps. One of them stays inside, and they can only see him from the window.”
Yuugi’s
eyes went wide, and when he spoke, it was in a whisper. Turning, he looked at
his yami with wide eyes, “That has to be Ryou. What if Bakura’s keeping him
there? Like a prisoner?”
Atemu gave Yuugi a blank look, and shook his head gently. “It is entirely
possible, little one. Bakura is not a person I would imagine quiet Ryou would
want to stay with.”
Yuugi,
however, was looking thoughtful. His voice was even quieter, when he finally
spoke; “… Or maybe, he wants to stay with Bakura.”
“Either
way, those two aren’t our problem right now.” Kaiba’s voice cut across the
room, sounding bizarrely authorative. With a wave, the flunky turned and
scurried back out of the room. Kaiba leant forward, resting his elbows on his
knees, and surveying the group. “We need to find the girl, and stop anything…
from happening.” He still couldn’t bring himself to quite acknowledge, out
loud, that there would be magical consequences. Regardless of all that had
happened, Kaiba’s faith was still firmly in technology. Standing up, he towered
over the group for a moment.
“For today,
though; it’s late. You can all…” His eyes passed over Atemu, but only briefly.
“… Stay here, tonight. It’s too late to get two rides to opposite sides of
town. Mokuba can show you the rooms; I’ve got work to do.” Pausing for just a
moment to glare at them all, Kaiba turned and swept out of the room. Jou
watched him leave with a strange look on his face, but no-one noticed.
Mokuba was
smiling. Despite the rivalry with his brother, Yuugi was the closest thing to a
best friend he had. Pushing himself off the seat, he gave the trio a grin.
“C’mon, follow me. There’s only two guest rooms in the wing me and Seto sleep,
but you guys don’t mind sharing, right?” The last comment was directed at Yuugi
and Atemu. The boys glanced at each other, and Yuugi blushed, but they agreed.
The
dark-haired boy led them up a short flight of stairs, then another. They turned
down one corridor, through a door, and found themselves in another, longer
corridor. Mokuba pointed out rooms;
“That’s my
room, at the beginning of the hall. There’s Seto’s, next to mine. The other two
doors…” He pointed to the other side of the corridor, “… Are the guest
bedrooms. They’re both empty. There are more bedrooms, but you gotta go to the
other side of the house, and it’s stupid to split you all around! The room at
the end is a bathroom, but most of the rooms have bathrooms connected. I
think…” He paused, frowning like he couldn’t remember. After a moment, he just
shrugged, and flashed them another grin.
“I’ll see
you all in the morning, ‘kay? We can go to school together.” A brief wave, and
he turned towards his own room. The door shut behind him with a click, and the
trio of boys looked at each other.
“Ehh… I
guess I’ll go take the room across from Kaiba. I’ll see you two in the
mornin’.” Jou gave them a brief wave and a tired smile. Scratching the back of
his head, he glanced at Kaiba’s door, before pushing his own open. It shut with
a louder noise than Mokuba’s, and Yuugi felt himself grin. Jou wasn’t used to
such an expensive house.
Turning, he
glanced at Atemu, and was surprised that the other was already staring at him.
Grinning a bit, he jerked his head towards the door. Atemu responded with a
smile, and they made for the door.
The room
beyond it had a soft, comfy feel about it. Most things were made in a
medium-dark wood, and all the fabrics were in shades of wine red. As they
entered the room, the pair spotted the immediate problem. There was only one
bed.
It was a
huge, four-poster affair. If they’d bothered to check, all the bedrooms were
blessed with four-poster beds. Apparently, Kaiba liked them. The drapes and
sheets were red, with soft pink detailing. Atemu took in all these details,
while he could feel Yuugi’s discomfort and embarrassment. Suppressing a smile,
the Pharaoh crossed the room.
Reaching
the bed, he bent over it. Going onto his hands and knees, the former Pharaoh
crawled across the sheets. He could feel Yuugi watching him, but ignored it.
Instead, he sent a teasing message;
‘So then, Aibou…’
Reaching
the centre of the bed, he laid down on his stomach. Moving, he rolled onto his
back; shuffling back up to rest his shoulders on the pillows. Raising his
hands, he put them behind his head, and gave Yuugi a look.
‘… Which side do you want?’
Yuugi’s
face matched the sheets by now. Shutting the door behind him, without looking,
he started towards the bed. When he finally responded, he sounded just as
nervous as he looked.
Yami, be serious… we can’t share a
bed…
‘Why not? I think we have been
closer in the past than any amount of physical contact.’
The smaller
duellist blushed even harder. He’d reached the edge of the bed now, and one of
his hands had risen to grip the Puzzle. It seemed to help his nerves. A little,
anyway.
I guess so… but… it’s embarrassing, Yami!
On the bed,
Atemu gave him a grin. Seeing Yuugi so flushed at the basic idea of sharing a
bed with him, on a completely innocent agreement, was amusing him. Glancing
down at his own long legs, stretched out in front of him, he wondered how much
he could milk the embarrassment.
‘Embarrassing? You find me
embarrassing? That hurts, Aibou…’
Reaching
up, Atemu faked a sigh, as he started to undo his jacket. He felt a small
ripple of satisfaction, as he felt Yuugi watching him. Undoing the jacket, he
slid out of it, and threw it, gently, to the side. Lifting himself off the
pillows, the black vest went next, and got dropped to the ground. Allowing the
air to touch his bared chest felt pleasant. Even more pleasant was the way he
could feel – via the mind-link – Yuugi’s gaze drawn to his chest.
Yuugi
swallowed. An uncomfortable lump in his throat had appeared when Atemu bared
his chest.
You aren’t… it’s not you. It’s just
embarrassing… we’re both boys… and it’s weird…
‘You are my hikari, and I am your
Yami. Two halves of the same soul. We are supposed to be close.’
Lifting his
feet up, Yami tugged off his socks, one after another. Their shoes were
downstairs, in Kaiba’s foyer. Dropping them, he paused for a moment, before his
hands rose to the zipper of his pants. He heard, rather than felt, Yuugi’s
breath hitch a little.
… Please don’t…
Atemu
looked at him, surprised.
‘Don’t what?’
Take off your… pants…
‘Why not? I can’t sleep in them
comfortably, little one.’
I-I know… just… get under the
covers. I don’t want… to see…
When you
wear tight leather pants, any serious amount of underwear will show. Yuugi had
never noticed any lines, and had come to the deduction that Atemu just didn’t
wear underwear. And that was something he really didn’t need to see.
Yuugi heard
Atemu sigh, but he didn’t respond. From the corner of his eye, he could see Atemu
moving. He tried his best to ignore it, until he realised the Pharaoh had got
off the bed. Yuugi’s eyes were wide and surprised, and he spoke out loud;
“Yami?”
“If you can’t even abide the thought of me nude, we are not going to be able to
share a bed, Yuugi.”
The small
duellist winced. His name again; he was in trouble.
“I didn’t-…
it’s not that… Yami, wait!” The last part came out a bit rushed, as the Pharaoh
had turned towards the door, and looked like he was about to leave. Mild panic
pushed Yuugi forward, and he grabbed Atemu by the wrist.
The Pharaoh
looked at him while Yuugi babbled;
“It’s-… I
don’t mind, okay? You can stay. I don’t even care if you’re n-…naked. Just
don’t go. Please?”
Atemu
looked down at his Aibou, appraisingly. For a moment, he didn’t react. Then, he
gave a slow smile, and a nod.
“Alright
then, Aibou.”
Less than
ten minutes later, the two were in bed. Yuugi had looked away while Atemu
undressed, but didn’t say anything to stop him. Now, they were lying in bed,
and Yuugi was painfully aware there was only a foot or so of empty mattress
between him, and his yami’s naked body. It was altogether not enough distance.
And, at the same time, way too much distance, and it was the second thought
that was making him nervous.
He felt
like sweat was pouring off him, but when he touched his own skin, it was only
slightly clammy. His hands were both clasped over his stomach, trying to hide
from Atemu how much they were shaking. Harder still to hide, were his thoughts.
Because, no
matter how hard Yuugi tried to hide them, or just not think them, unwanted
thoughts kept springing to mind. Thoughts related to Atemu. As the two boys lay
in the dark, the latest thought was a vivid image of himself, crawling across
the bed and-…
No!
Squeezing his eyes
shut, Yuugi shut down the thought before it could finish. Beside him, Atemu
made a soft, annoyed noise. Yuugi felt his pulse speed up a little.
Y-… yami…? Can you-…
‘The more you try and hide your
thoughts, the more they keep… jumping out at me.’
Atemu
turned, and looked at him, steadily.
‘I’m trying to ignore them, but,
ah…’
Yuugi felt
a wash of horror. Atemu could see all
of the half-formed thoughts, despite how hard he tried to shut them down before
they finished. As he stared at his partner in horror, Yuugi’s eyes slowly
drifted down. The blanket had slipped down Atemu’s body when the Pharaoh turned
to look at him, and he could see most of a nice, toned chest. For just a few
seconds, Yuugi’s mind conjured up an image of himself, crawling over to lick
that chest. A rush of guilt and horror followed the image, and he smothered the
idea.
Atemu was
looking at him very strangely, and Yuugi felt his cheeks burn. The gaze was
just too intense. Turning away, he rolled onto his side. He couldn’t see the
Pharaoh anymore; just the window in front of him. For a moment, that worked.
The images stopped, and he began to calm down. His pulse settled back to almost
a normal level, and he stopped breathing so hard.
Then, Yuugi
felt a hesitant touch on his shoulder, which sent a thrill down his arm. Too
scared to turn around, he just lay still as the touch became a hand, which
stroked down his arm and curled around his waist. His heartbeat rocketed back
up to frantic as a warm body pulled him closer. As soon as he felt the bare
chest against his bare back, Yuugi’s voice came out in a surprised burst;
“Y-yami…!
What are you-…?”
“Relax…” Atemu’s voice was soft, and oddly soothing.
“Don’t-… I
mean…” Yuugi shut his eyes tight, fighting what had to be the millionth blush
for that night. He remembered, instantly, how his yami had kissed him in the
altar room, and the memory brought a soft happiness to him. He stopped
protesting, and Atemu made a soft, content noise.
“Mm, like
that.” Atemu’s hands were stroking over Yuugi’s stomach. The smaller boy felt
warm under his hands, and the smell of Yuugi’s skin so close was intoxicating.
Leaning closer, Atemu’s tongue ran along Yuugi’s shoulder, then up to his neck.
Slowly, but firmly, he kissed the side of Yuugi’s throat, and the boy shivered.
With his mouth now occupied, Atemu spoke mentally;
‘Do you still want to know the
secret I couldn’t tell you?’
Yuugi’s
eyes opened, slowly. For a moment, he didn’t reply. Then, he gave a short nod.
His ‘voice’ sounded breathy and nervous.
Y-… yeah. I do.
The Pharaoh
made another content noise. His heart was pounding in his chest, but the taste
of Yuugi’s skin helped. Moving up, he nipped at the boy’s ear, and then
proceeded to gently suck on his earlobe.
‘I want you, Yuugi. I want you, in a
way I don’t think you’ve realised.’
Drawing
away from the boy’s ear, Atemu drew back a little. Raising his hand, he moved
it to Yuugi’s shoulder, and pulled the boy down, onto his back. Moving back
over, he leant over the duellist’s body. His hands pressed into the mattress on
either side of Yuugi’s body, and he began to lean steadily closer as he spoke.
“I want you
to be mine. All mine, not just as my
Aibou.” He was hovering just a short distance from Yuugi’s mouth now, and he
lowered his voice to a whisper; “Your soul. Your body. Your heart. Do you understand me, Yuugi?”
“I-…” While
the Pharaoh talked, Yuugi had steadily got more and more nervous. Now, his
heart was racing, and he could feel his lower body throbbing, although that was
secondary. For a moment, he just stuttered, and stared blankly. He hadn’t even
thought of an answer, when Atemu leaned over to kiss him.
It was
nothing like the first kiss. Their first kiss had been gentle. This was rough,
and passionate. There was affection there, but it was more of an outlet for
Atemu’s frustration. Yuugi heard himself make a quiet, whimpering noise as the
Pharaoh’s tongue forced it’s way into his mouth. Both of their eyes were shut
tight, and Yuugi tried his best to respond to the kiss.
It broke
with both boys panting, and staring at each other. There was a heat in Atemu’s
eyes that Yuugi hadn’t seen before. Slowly, he opened his mouth, wanting to say
something – anything – when he heard a soft noise from the door.
Both of
them turned to look, Atemu still leaning over Yuugi, and the smaller boy felt a
cold rush of shock and guilt and embarrassment.
Kaiba was
standing just inside the doorway, and looking at the pair of them with a
strange expression. It was a mix of disgust and embarrassment.
“I’d
appreciate it if you two didn’t fuck in one of my beds.”
Yuugi felt
himself go cold with horror, and looked away. He was blushing now, and wishing
he could sink into the floor.
“Both of
you… get dressed, and meet me in the foyer. I have something to show you both…”
Kaiba gave
them both one final dirty look, then turned. The door shut with a click, and
Atemu rolled to the side. The two boys faced opposite sides of the bed, and the
tension in the room was thick enough to touch.
From the
other side of the bed, Yuugi heard Atemu curse, quietly. He agreed, entirely.
---
Atemu’s
face was dark and annoyed when he followed Kaiba and Yuugi into the foyer. He
could see Jou and Mokuba already waiting for them. Mokuba looked bleary-eyed
and sleepy, but Jou looked wide awake. Atemu took in these details in a quiet,
abstract way.
The two
boys seated themselves on the couch from earlier. Yuugi looked fidgety, and
nervous, and Atemu wasn’t surprised. Jou was looking at him curiously, and
before he could speak, he saw Yuugi mouth ‘Later’. Seems Jou was going to find
out all about the Pharaoh’s daringness. He felt a prickle of annoyance.
“You guys
took forever, I almost felt asleep…” Mokuba’s shrill voice sounded groggy and
sleepy. Yuugi looked at him, but no-one else did.
“They were
asleep. I thought it would take all night to wake them up.” Kaiba lied
smoothly, and Atemu felt Yuugi sigh with relief. He echoed the feeling. Having
Kaiba announce he’d caught them making out, naked, would have been an uncomfortable
experience.
“More to
the point, I’ve found some information.” Seto straightened up. He had been
halfway bent over a table, picking up a sheaf of paper. Lines of text were
printed in neat lines, and Atemu hoped, quietly, that he wasn’t going to read
all of it. Raising the paper, Kaiba shuffled one or two around, then began
reading aloud, in a clear voice.
“’Three
months ago, an excavation in a remote area of Egypt uncovered hieroglyphic
documentation of the existence of the Millennium Items. Present at the dig site
were two local men, a local woman functioning as an advisor, and two Western
archaeologists and Egyptologists. All of the data uncovered coincided with
previously-uncovered information, and also offered information corroborating
the theories of Solomon Motou.’”
Kaiba
looked up at them, and gave everyone a very pointed look. The group were
looking at him blankly. It was Jou that spoke first, when no-one else did.
“Uh, so
what? People are digging in Egypt all the time, right?”
Kaiba
glared at him, and everyone felt Jou sink back a bit.
“Stupid
mutt. Don’t you listen? There were local
people at the dig. Isn’t Nenet Egyptian?”
Atemu, at
Yuugi’s side, spoke in a low, excited mutter; “And Nenet said she moved here
two months ago…”
Kaiba nodded,
sitting down on the couch. Jou was still looking confused.
“Er… so
what, though? We know how she found out about the Items. Was it really worth wakin’ us all up, Kaiba?”
Kaiba shot
him another icy look, and Jou shrank back again. “It also says they found
things corroborating Solomon’s work.” The CEO looked up at Yuugi, and the boy
visibly balked at the attention. “Yuugi. Your grandfather’s work deals with
Duel Monsters, and the Shadow Games, correct?”
“Y-yeah, but what’s that got to do with it?”
Kaiba shook his head, sighing a bit. “If Nenet got her information on the
Millennium Item from this dig, she knows about the Shadow Games, too.”
More blank looks. Kaiba felt a headache coming on. Why did he have to deal with
such retards? Opening his mouth to continue, he was surprised when another
voice cut him off.
“And if she
knows about the Shadow Games, she’ll know that the Duel Monsters cards aren’t
entirely innocent. Spirits within the items can evoke the power of the cards as
real monsters. She wanted to return mine and Bakura’s spirits to our Items.”
Atemu
looked up at Kaiba, and the two boys met each others eyes, firmly.
“You think
she’s going to try and evoke the power of the Shadow Games?”
Kaiba
smirked, just a little. He nodded, not breaking the Pharaoh’s gaze.
“Precisely.”
The two
shared a competitive smirk. Yuugi looked between the two of them, frowning.
“But… she
doesn’t have an Item, does she? She couldn’t, they’re all accounted for.” As he
spoke, he glanced down at his Puzzle, and curled his hand around it. Kaiba
shook his head, dropping the papers back on the table.
“I doubt
it, but she’s been trying.” He turned again, shooting Yuugi’s Puzzle a dark
look. “She’s tried twice to return spirits to their items. If she hadn’t
failed, I’d guess she would have tried to steal them.”
“Steal it-...!” Yuugi’s expression switched to dismay, and he brought his other
hands up. Holding his Puzzle, possessively, he looked at his feet.
I took such a risk… if she’d
succeeded, she would’ve stolen the Puzzle… and… and Yami would be…
‘I’d be with you.’
Yuugi
looked up at him. Atemu was staring at him with a reassuring smile. Slowly,
Yuugi felt himself smile back.
‘There’s no way I’d allow someone
else to use my power. I’m only yours, Aibou.’
Yuugi blushed,
very lightly, and his smile got a bit wider. Looking up, he noticed Kaiba and
Jou staring at him. Mokuba had fallen asleep in his chair. Jou was smirking,
and Kaiba just looked annoyed.
“I would
say I hate it when you two do that, Yuug, but if it always makes ya that happy,
I can’t be against it.”
At his
side, Yuugi felt Atemu smirk. Looking away from each other, they both looked up
at Kaiba cleared this throat. The CEO was looking more than a little annoyed.
“Anyway,
that’s all. You can all go back to bed. I know I am.” Putting his hands into
his pockets, Kaiba walked to where Mokuba was snoring on his chair. Leaning
forward, he curled his arms under the boy’s body and lifted him. Cuddling
Mokuba against his chest, he swept past the other three, and left the room. Jou
watched him go with a kind-of half-smile.
Stretching,
the blonde stifled a yawn and flashed a lazy smile at Yuugi and Atemu.
“Well, I’m
gonna go back to sleep! You two get a good night’s sleep, right?” Standing up,
he winked at them – which made Yuugi blush – before he left the room.
Left alone
in the living room, the two boys sat in silence for a moment. Then, slowly,
Atemu stood up. Stretching, he snuck his hand under his shirt to scratch his
stomach, then turned to Yuugi.
“Come on,
then. I want to get a good night’s sleep tonight.”
For a
moment, Yuugi stared at the other boy. Then, he gave a nod and a smile.
Reaching up, he took hold of Atemu’s offered hand, and stood up.
