Danegold: The Viking Brother’s Sequel

Chapter 8: Sveyn's Plan

Ludmund’s Tent:

Dahlia sat on Ludmund’s bed, a wool blanket wrapped around her shoulders. Tea made her some soup but she refused to eat any of it. Her sister in law sat by her side on the bed, mending one of Ludmund’s torn shirts. The two girls were silent for the time they spent together until Ludmund came in. Her brother was surprised to see her in his tent.

“Dahlia? Why aren’t you with Sveyn?” Her shoulders tensed at the name, but Ludmund didn’t catch it.

“I feel more safe with you, Ludmund. Sveyn is still suffering from his earlier drinking. And Tea said I could stay here for awhile.”

“Of course you can stay here, but I thought Mikkel was looking after you?” Dahlia looked down at her reflection in the soup.

“He likes his women at night, and I don’t want to impose.” Ludmund laughed.

“Mikkel is capable of controlling himself for a night. Besides, you’re his baby sister! He’ll do anything for you.”

“I know, but I would much rather stay here. Will you go get me some more blankets?” She asked her brother, not looking up from her soup.

“Of course, but I don’t want you sleeping on the ground. You can share my bed with Tea.”

“Is that okay, Tea?” She asked

“Of course, Dahlia! We want you to feel safe and comfortable.” Ludmund nodded.

“Tea’s right. You may stay here as long as you like. I’ll be right back with some more blankets.”

Ludmund exited his tent and told the guards to stay on watch for a few more minutes. He started walking to the trading tables, hoping he could find a merchant still open. If not, then he’d just have to go rob his brothers of some blankets. On the way there, he crossed paths with Seto, who stopped him with the call of his name.

“Lord Oddvar.”

“Evening, Seto.” He said a slight smile. For as much as he hated the Bolverk’s and everyone associated with them, Seto was the least he despised. “You look like you have something on your mind?” Seto crossed his arms.

“I do. If it’s possible, I would like to have a few words with Dahlia.” Ludmund calmly shook his head.

“I’m sorry, but the answer is “no” for the moment. She is still shaken up by what happened earlier today.” Seto nodded.

“I understand, but I need to talk to her eventually. King Olaf wants information about this case as soon as possible. I can’t do my job unless I have spoken with your sister.”

“Give her a couple of days, I’m sure the king will understand that. She needs time to recover, the poor girl.” He said and crossed his arms, standing in a much more comfortable position. “Tell me, Seto, who do you believe in all this?”

“As the moderator, I have no biased opinion. To me, both Bakura AND your sister are guilty.” Ludmund glared at him.

“What do you mean Dahlia is guilty?” Seto glared back.

“What I said it means. So far, we have nothing to go on but by what your sister said. Of course you believe her, you’re her brother. However, Bakura has his side too. Either one of them could be lying. I’m not protecting Bakura, but I’m not siding with Dahlia either. She could very well be lying to you.” Ludmund sneered and turned his head away from Seto.

“I used to respect you, but now you’re making me think differently.” Seto rolled his eyes.

“I am not the matter at hand here.” Ludmund gave him a suspicious look.

“I sense you already have an idea to go on.” Seto smirked.

“What makes you say that?”

“I can see it in your eyes. Come on, spill it!” Seto nodded.

“Very well, I shall let you in on my thoughts for you have a right to know. You too are involved in this. First, lets look at the woman’s side of rape. Now I know your sister is a gentle spirit and wouldn’t harm a thing. However, she is a bit flirty with the men. From what I’ve seen in the past with this situation, most of the rapist are someone they know. But sometimes, women have to lie about who their rapists are, to save face of course. Especially one of her status.

Lets say if someone else had raped her, someone she knows, but doesn’t want to ruin her reputation and his, then she would place the blame on another. And who better to frame than a family enemy? It would be believable and it would save face to herself and her family, as it will drive attention away from her. In my opinion, I believe there is more to this then she is letting on. There’s a missing piece somewhere and I’m going to find it.”

Ludmund grit his teeth after hearing Seto’s thoughts on the case. He hated to admit it, but Seto had a good point. But his little sister was such a pure soul that she would never blame anybody nor lie! No, he wouldn’t believe it. Dahlia always tells the truth! And Bakura is to lusty for his own good! He would do something like that!

“Hm, interesting. However, I find your idea unbelievable. This is my little sister we’re talking about. A noblewoman of the Oddvar Family. If she says Bakura raped her, then I believe her.” Seto just shook his head and chuckled.

“You said you wanted to hear what I had to say. I’m not defending Bakura, nor am I defending your sister. As I said before, I’m taking no sides. What’s to say your sister got more than she bargained for? She is quite the flirt, remember.” He smirked.

“How dare you!” Ludmund nearly shouted. “How dare you speak of my sister in that manner! Do you actually believe that she-“

“Yes, I do. There are many angles to this case, Ludmund. But you just have to think about how well you know your sister. I’ve seen her wondering around a lot in the camp, teasing men. Harmlessly, of course, but as a man you know how quick some are to jump at a young, flirtatious thing like your sister.” Ludmund growled at him and cracked his knuckles.

“I’m going to dislocate your jaw for that comment, Seto!” Seto didn’t flinch.

“You do that and I’ll report you to the king. I’m only doing my job as assigned to me.” Seto pushed past him. “I bid you good evening, Lord Oddvar. I will be back to question your sister in a day or two. Anything more than two days I’ll have to report to the king and HE will come personally and question your sister.” He started to walk off, not looking back. “Sleep well.” He heard Ludmund mumble and storm off in the opposite directions. Seto just smiled to himself.

Bakura’s Tent:

“Please Bakura, come to bed.” Ryou said, his voice still slightly hoarse. Bakura was pacing back and forth in the tent, periodically looking out the tent flap. He had his sword strapped to his back and he just wouldn’t stop muttering to himself. Ryou could have SWORN he heard him say something about pineapples and coconuts.

“I can’t come to bed! I’m thinking!!” The pineapple popped onto his left shoulder.

“Can you believe this shit?!” It said in it’s high voice. “They actually have the nerve to accuse you!” Bakura nodded.

“I know! How dare that bitch frame me!”

“Hire an assassin and have her throat cut! That’s what she gets for lying!” Bakura sneered.

“As much as I like that idea, I can’t do it. I’ll be in more trouble than I already am!” Ryou just stared at him, wide eyed. Who was he talking to????

“You must kill them all! KILLLLLLLL! KILLLLL!” The coconut then popped up on his right shoulder.

“No, don’t kill them all! Only the girl and her brothers!”

“Shut your trap, you hairy piece of fruit!” Said the pineapple. “He should just kill all of them!” The coconut pulled on Bakura’s earlobe.

“Don’t listen to him! Kill the girl! She started all this!” Bakura shook his head.

“I just can’t! I know for a fact it wasn’t me, and I don’t want to kill her.” The pineapple growled.

“Then beat that wench!!”

“No! Kill her instead!”

“No! Make her suffer!”

“Kill her!”

“Make her suffer!”

“No! Kill her!”

“Don’t make me come over there and kick your hairy ass!”

“Just try it, prickly!!”

“Oh BOY are you going to get it! COME HERE!” Bakura just watched as the two rolled around the floor, fighting each other and exchanging insults.

“Bakura…you’re scaring me.” Bakura remembered Ryou was in the tent with him and he was slightly embarrassed.

“Oh, sorry Ryou.” Ryou frowned.

“I know you have a lot on your mind right now, but you’re not doing any good just pacing. Please, come to bed.” He felt extremely guilty about talking with Hrothgar this morning and he felt that he needed to make it up to Bakura. He heard Bakura sigh.

“Alright, I will. But I doubt I’ll be able to sleep.”

“Would you like me to rub your back?” Ryou asked with a tiny smile. Bakura nodded and suddenly flopped down onto the fur on his belly. Ryou moved out of the way just in time before he crushed a limb! Bakura folded his arms in front of him and rest his face against them. Ryou sat on his lower back and started to rub his palms into Bakura’s tense muscles. Bakura just moaned into the fur, relaxing his body under Ryou’s gentle touch. It still didn’t clear his head, though.

“What do you believe, Ryou?” Ryou stopped his motions at Bakura’s question.

“What?”

“What do you believe? Do you believe I did it?” Ryou really didn’t know what to say. He knew what a bed hopper Bakura was, and he DID rape him when they first met. But for Bakura to be so upset about this, then he must be innocent.

“I don’t believe you did it, Bakura. I believe you are innocent.” He continued his rubbing on Bakura’s back.

“I knew you would believe me. I thought for sure you would believe this when you heard it.”

“No, I didn’t believe it the moment I heard it.”

“I heard Ludmund came to see you. What did he say?” Ryou stopped his rubbing again.

“He asked me where you were and I said I didn’t know. He didn’t hurt me though.” Ryou shook as he remembered the scene from this morning. If it wasn’t for Duke being there when he was, he might be dead right now. But he didn’t need Bakura to worry any more than he already was.

“That’s all?”

“That’s all.” Ryou moved his hands down lower to the base of Bakura’s spine. “So what are you going to do?” He heard Bakura sigh.

“I don’t’ know, Ryou. Only time will tell.”

Seto’s Tent:

Seto rubbed the back of his neck as he entered his tent. He noticed it was dark inside and looked around for Jou. Jou was already asleep in the bed, snoring away. Seto chuckled and removed his cape, tossing it onto the chair. He needed to write a few things about his meeting with Ludmund. He lit the candle on his table and looked over at Jou. He twitched a bit, but was still asleep. Seto smiled at his puppy before he sat down and began writing. He heard Jou mumble something about food and his name, making Seto chuckle.

He knew he wasn’t spending enough time with Jou now as he usually did. Now that he was assigned this mission, he would have even LESS time for his puppy. His puppy knew how important his work was to the Bolverk family. He’d have to make it up to Jou later.

He must have fallen asleep sometime in the night for he woke up due to a sudden warmth around his body. He rubbed his eyes and yawned, lifting himself up form the table. He felt something slide off his shoulders and the warmth disappear. Their fur blanket was on the ground behind his chair. When he looked back up he saw Jou leave their tent. Seto picked up the blanket and threw it on the bed before going out after Jou.

Jou strolled through the rows of tents, enjoying the crisp night air. He woke up to find Seto sound asleep over his paperwork. He knew how hard Yami had Seto working. He did miss the times he shared with Seto, but his husband had responsibilities. He’ll just have to wait until these games were over, then he would be able to be with Seto again. Jou gasped when he felt something warm wrap around his shoulders.

“A bit chilly, isn’t it?” Jou smiled and turned around to face his husband.

“I thought you were asleep?” Jou asked as he wrapped the fur cloak around himself.

“Same here. Do you often take late night strolls without me?” Jou grinned from ear to ear and took Seto’s hand in his.

“Only when you’re busy. I get a bit lonely.” Seto entwined his fingers with Jou’s.

“I’m sorry we don’t have much time to spend together, pup.” He brought Jou’s hand up to kiss it gently.

“No, it’s alright love. I know you’re busy.”

“I’m not busy now, so why don’t we go for a walk?” Seto asked with smile as he lowered Jou’s hand to their sides. Jou grinned stupidly and squeezed Seto’s hand, resting his head against his shoulder.

“I would like that very much!”

The two strolled hand and hand threw the camp grounds, ignoring some of the disgusted looks they got thrown their way. They weren’t going to let a few ignorant looks ruin their peaceful moment together. Seto told Jou that he knew of a small grove somewhere along the forest path. He remembered to bring his sword, in case they ran into some trouble. The two left the camp grounds and now walked along the forest path, moving closer to one another. For the most part, they were silent, just enjoying the moments they were spending together. Jou missed the warm, hard feeling of Seto’s body close to his, and he was taking every opportunity to get close to him.

“Here it is.” Seto said as he led his lover off the forest path into the small grove.

“It’s beautiful, Seto!”

“I’m glad you like it. Wait here.”

Seto walked further into the glen and looked around, making sure it was safe for them. Seeing and hearing nothing except the wind through the leaves he started to take off his cloak. He spread it out onto the cold ground and straitened it with his hands. Jou watched his husband work and couldn’t help but admire him. Poor Seto worked so hard to make everything right, and working for the Bolverk’s wasn’t the easiest job either. Jou doesn’t know how he does it, but for the most part Seto keeps his calm under pressure. With all that is going on with Bakura right now his poor Seto has his hands full. And now here he was, keeping him company when he should be sleeping and building up his strength. Jou didn’t care what others said about Seto being angry and cold hearted. He gave off that aura, but he was a very special person beneath it. One that he was proud of and thankful to have.

“Come on over, Jou.” Seto called to him and Jou hurried over to him, knowing he was smiling like a kid who had just received a new toy. Seto let him sit down first and took another look around before joining him. Jou pulled his cloak tighter around him and snuggled up to Seto, who put his arm around his shoulders. Jou sighed and looked up at the slightly cloudy sky, seeing a few stars twinkling from above. The moon seemed to move as the clouds passed by it, making it disappear and reappear. It was a bit chilly out, but Seto was so warm that Jou hardly felt the cold.

“Mm…I’ve missed this.” Jou said, breaking the blissful silence. Seto leaned over and kissed his temple.

“So have I, pup.”

“And it’s so peaceful out here. Reminds me of the time back home when I used to leave the village late at night and stroll through the woods. I used to sit on this fallen tree that laid over a small river. I used to just sit and think.”

“About what?”

“Oh, this and that. Nothing really deep or important.” Seto chuckled.

“Good thing too. Wouldn’t want you hurting yourself.” Jou gave him a glare but smiled as he did. He elbowed Seto slightly in his side.

“Meanie.” Seto just flopped back on the cloak and spread his arms out, giving a deep sigh.

“Sure feels good to relax a bit. I’ve been bent over those damn papers and documents for I don’t know how long.” Jou turned his upper to look down at his husband.

“You should slow down, lover. If you keep this pace up, you’ll probably work yourself into an early grave! God forbid.” Seto shook his head and looked up into the night sky.

“I can never rest from work, pup. It’s just not in my nature to do so. I feel incomplete if I’m not doing something constructive. That’s what annoys me about Marik and Bakura. They don’t like to work at all and rather just sit around all day, causing a ruckus. They may like that, but I think it’s just a mindless waste of time. Duke and Malik are no better. Neither of them like to work.” Jou laughed.

“Well, Duke always had to do manual labor when he younger and he always hated it. So I guess since he can make his own decisions now, he decides to not do it at all. He makes poor Tristan do everything. And Malik? Well, I don’t know his past, but he doesn’t seem like the type who’d want to work anyway. He’d rather be waited on hand and foot. But then again, who wouldn’t?” He smiled down at him. Seto’s brows went up in humor.

“I do that for you.”

“What? No you don’t! I wait on you hand and foot!”

“We even each other out, then.” Seto said with a smirk as he looked over at Jou, who was wearing a smile. “Well, aren’t you going to lay with me?” Jou hmphed but kept his same smile and turned away, crossing his arms. Seto grabbed him by the back of his tunic and brought him down next to him. Jou smiled and rest his forehead against Seto’s.

“Can we just stay like this for awhile?” Seto chuckled.

“Sure. I’m too tired for anything else right now.”

“What if I had asked you to?” Seto gave a sly smirk.

“I could have found the energy.” Jou just shook his head and snuggled up next to Seto, burying his face in his neck.

“This moment of cuddling is just enough to satisfy me.”

“Mm hm.” Was Seto’s only response.

“Go to sleep, Seto. I know you’re tired.”

“I can’t go to sleep here.” Jou gave a yawn.

“Why not?”

“Because I have to stay awake to protect you. You just go to sleep, little puppy.”

“But I’m not tired…” He gave a tiny yawn and closed his eyes, snuggling up into the hard, warm protection that was his husband. Seto kissed the top of his head and turned his head back to gaze at the stars, his mind clear of all things except his puppy.

The next morning, Malik came over to Bakura’s tent to wake Ryou. Yugi, Jou, Duke, Ryou and himself were going to the games that were set to start soon. Jou and Yugi left to wake Duke with Keith. As much as they wanted to go by themselves without a bodyguard, their husbands wouldn’t allow it. They didn’t want to hear that there was safety in numbers. Malik peeked through the flap and saw Ryou sitting up on the fur, brushing his hair.

“Good morning, Ryou!” Malik said in a sing song voice. Ryou smiled at Malik and continued brushing his hair.

“Good morning, Malik.”

“You look much better this morning!” Ryou nodded happily.

“Yes, I feel much better. I can’t wait to get out of this tent and bed! I feel like I’ve been cooped up in here forever!” Ryou laid the hair brush on the other side of the bed.

“Well, hurry up then!” he smiled. “We don’t want to be late, right!?” Ryou laughed and threw the covers off.

“Right, lets go!” Ryou slipped his boots on and followed Malik out of the tent. Jou, Yugi, and Duke were coming up to them. Keith was behind them with Annar riding on his shoulders, pulling his hair and what not. Yugi ran up to Ryou when he saw him.

“You’re looking better, Ryou!”

“I feel better!” Ryou smiled at his friend.

“We have to hurry! Duke says there’s a nice merchant selling things cheap! You could get some new fabric to make more clothes!” Ryou nodded.

“I do need some new things. Bakura’s clothes are getting raggedy and they smell.” Duke jutted his thumb towards Keith.

“While you’re at it, make some for this oaf.”

“Be nice, Duke.” Yugi said. “Lets TRY to have a peaceful day?” Duke crossed his arms and walked away, purposefully stepping on Keith’s foot as he did. Annar just laughed and tugged on Keith’s hair.

“Auntie Duke is beating Unkie Keith again!”

“Let’s hurry you guys!” Malik said, tugging on Ryou and Yugi’s sleeves. “I want to get there before all the good jewelry goes!”

The market place was filled with traders and buyers, more than ever today. Duke took his friends to the merchant where they immediately started buying things. It was true, this merchant was the cheapest one around. Their husbands didn’t give them much in free spending money, but for what they had, they could buy more with this guy. Poor Keith had to juggle two sacks of fabrics, some boxes of outfits, a sack of heavy jewelry, and a solid three year old on his head. And they were still buying!

“What am I? A pack mule?!” He asked in slightly angry tone.

“No, you’re our servant.” Duke said and added another sack to the pile. Ryou turned to Malik.

“I’m going to go look at the threads across the way.” Malik nodded.

“Okay, be careful. Just give a shout if you need us.” Ryou rolled his eyes.

“I’m only going to be a few feet away.” Malik chuckled.

“Just being cautious, my friend.” Ryou told Keith where he was going and hurried across the way to the stand. As he was looking through the threads, he heard his name.

“Hey there, Ryou!” Ryou almost froze as he heard Hrothgar’s voice, but he quickly turned around with a polite smile. Hrothgar came up to him with an equally polite smile and a big, black shaggy dog.

“Good day, Lord Suthrland.” Hrothgar laughed.

“You don’t have to be so formal when I’m alone. Just plain old Hrothgar will do. I see you’re feeling better.” Ryou chuckled.

“Yes, I am feeling quite well today, Hrothgar.” The large dog suddenly barked, startling Ryou. He jumped back a bit, nearly hitting the trading table.

“Oh, don’t be afraid of Keir, Ryou. He’s completely harmless unless provoked.” He said and reached down to scratch the dog’s ear. Keir leaned his head into the touch, panting happily. “He barked because I forgot to introduce him.” Ryou smiled down at the dog.

“He’s so big! My good friend Yugi could probably ride on him!” Hrothgar laughed lightly.

“Yeah, he’s big alright. But I’m afraid I have no where to keep him for a time. My cousin is coming here tomorrow and he has to stay with me in my tent. But dogs make him sick, something in their fur.” Ryou cautiously reached down to pet the dog, who let him.

“That’s too bad about your cousin, but couldn’t Keir just stay outside at night?” Hrothgar shook his head.

“It gets cold at night, and I worry about him. He just needs a place to stay at night. Do you know of anyone who would keep him in the evenings?” Ryou took a few moments to think, then came up with an idea.

“I know of someone in our camp. Our bodyguard Keith has a tent all to himself and would probably love some company. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind taking the dog it. I’ll ask him for you.”

“Thanks Ryou, this really helps me out. And Keir thanks you too.” Keir barked in response and Ryou laughed.

“He’s such a good dog, and a cute one too.”

“So where’s this bodyguard of yours?”

“Oh, he’s right over there with Yugi and the others. He’s the one with the kid on his head.”

“So he’s in charge of all of you?” Ryou nodded.

“When our husbands or lovers aren’t around, yes. He watches us during the games.”

“That’s good he watches over all of you, especially you and Yugi.”

“I know.” Ryou sighed

“Say, why don’t we go get something to eat?”

Ryou felt himself flush at Hrothgar’s words. He didn’t know what to say. He shouldn’t leave Keith’s side or the others, but he was safe with Hrothgar. And he also had Keir who was quite threatening himself. He remembered Malik’s words and decided to go off with Hrothgar for a little bit. It wouldn’t hurt. Ryou smiled prettily and nodded.

“Yes, I would like to join you for food. Thank you for choosing to invite me along. If you don’t mind being seen with a servant boy, that is?” Hrothgar just smiled and rolled his eyes.

“That doesn’t bother me in the least.” He held his arm out for Ryou. “Shall we then.” Before Ryou could take his arm, Bakura suddenly burst in between them, knocking Hrothgar’s arm back. Ryou gasped and Hrothgar gave a look of surprise at Bakura’s furious one. Bakura had to tilt his head just slightly to make eye contact with Hrothgar, and they narrowed dangerously. Keir growled at Bakura, but he ignored the animal, focusing on Hrothgar.

“Bakura-“ Ryou said but was stopped by Bakura’s words.

“Who the hell do you think you are putting the moves on him!?” Bakura asked angrily. “Don’t touch what’s not yours, Suthrland!” Hrothgar backed up a bit, his hands up in defense.

“Whoa, slow down, Sir Bolverk! I didn’t know he was taken! I thought he was just a servant of yours.”

“He IS a servant of mine, one that is MINE personally! You are to stay away from him!”

“I apologize, Sir Bolverk.” Hrothgar said. “It was an honest mistake.” Bakura “hmphed” and gripped Ryou by his forearm.

“We’re going, Ryou!”

“But-!” Bakura pulled Ryou away before he could apologize to Hrothgar or say goodbye. Hrothgar just waved to him and Keir barked his goodbye. Ryou winced at Bakura’s grip on his arm as he was drug through the rows of table. Bakura pulled Ryou over to the side behind a tent and turned to face him. Ryou brought his arms up to his chest and cowered slightly under Bakura’s gaze.

“What the hell are you doing with HIM!? You were actually going to GO with him?! He could have overpowered you or raped you or something! Besides, since when do YOU go with other men behind my back?!”

“Why is it such a problem, Bakura?” Bakura sucked his teeth.

“Well…..I just don’t want you getting hurt. You don’t know that guy well enough to go off with him! And you were getting awfully close to him.” Bakura narrowed his gaze at Ryou, but then they widened again at the look Ryou gave him. His eyes seemed more large and moist then normal. Was he going to cry?

“You’re…you’re jealous!” Ryou suddenly said out loud, a little happy smile appearing on his face. Bakura’s jaw nearly dropped to the ground.

“What?!”

“You’re jealous that I was making eyes at Hrothgar and not you! You DO care about me!” Bakura backed away as Ryou suddenly attached himself to his arm, squeezing it tight.

“GAH! Get off of me, leach! I wasn’t jealous!” Ryou nuzzled his cheek into Bakura’s muscle.

“You were too! You don’t want me with anybody else but you! So you DO like me!” Bakura growled and shoved him off.

“I do not! I just…I just don’t want Yugi and the rest of them to worry about you and place the blame on me if you get hurt! I’m just being cautious!” Ryou giggled happily, knowing Bakura was lying. But he would play his game! He just needed to flirt with Hrothgar a bit more!

“You’re right, I apologize, Bakura. I should not have gone and done something like that behind your back.” He said, becoming serious to fool Bakura. Bakura just looked him up and down suspiciously, wondering what tricks he was going to pull next. “I should be getting back to the others. They’re going to wonder where I am. I’ll see you tonight, lov-Bakura.”

Ryou pecked him on the check before taking off into a run, giggling stupidly. Bakura just watched him go, completely confused with what just happened. Ryou ran to the others and brought Malik into a sudden hug, nearly squeezing the breath out of him.

“It worked this time, Malik!” Malik gasped for breath.

“W-what did?” Ryou, seeing as he was hurting him, let him go but kept the same smile on his face.

“Bakura really DOES care about me! He was so jealous when he heard that I accepted Hrothgar’s invitation to go get something to eat! You should have seen him! He just barreled his way between us and nearly knocked for Hrothgar to the ground!” Malik, now equally excited about Ryou’s news, matched him grin for grin.

“That’s great news, Ryou!” They laced their fingers together and jumped up and down, squealing. Yugi pouted, confused about WHAT they were talking about and why he wasn’t informed about it. Jou put his hands together and smiled happily, now making Yugi even more confused then he already was.

“I’m going to spend more time with Hrothgar, on a friendly basis of course, just to get Bakura jealous! Maybe he’ll admit his feelings for me!”

“Now don’t get carried away wit this, Ryou.” Keith said, strengthening his hold on Annar’s squirming legs. “This is Bakura we’re talking about. Making him jealous might backfire on you. He’s unpredictable.” Ryou shook his head.

“Not this time. I have a really, REALLY good feeling about this.”

“What’s going on?” Yugi asked, looking from one friend to the other. “Why am I always the last one to know?!” He whined and pouted his bottom lip. Malik just pat him on the head.

“Don’t worry, I’ll tell you about it while we’re waiting for the games to start, which we should be getting to right now if we want a good seat!” He reminded everyone.

“I wanna ride with mommy!” Annar said and slid down Keith’s arm. He jumped into Yugi’s arms and nuzzled his neck. “Mommy me hungry!” He whined as they all started walking off.

Ludmund’s Tent:

“What the hell are you talking about?!” Shouted Sveyn as he slammed his fists on Ludmund’s desk. Dahlia winced at the action and curled into Tea, hiding her face. Tea held her protectively.

“Calm down, Sveyn! You’re scaring her!”

“This is all your fault, Sveyn.” Ludmund said, crossing his arms and leaning back on his chair. He narrowed his eyes at his brother. “This all happened because you failed in your duty to guard our baby sister. I do hope your drinking was worth it?” Sveyn huffed and put his fists on his hips.

“Don’t talk to me like that, Ludmund! So I got a little carried away with my drinking! It happens! Besides, I would have known if anyone had come in to the tent! I wasn’t completely passed out!”

“The fact is that our baby sister was raped by the enemy on YOUR watch. How do you think poor Dahlia feels?” He motioned his head over to Tea and Dahlia on the bed. Dahlia made eye contact with Sveyn and her body tensed. Tea gently rubbed her back to sooth her. Her eyes widened as Sveyn headed for her, but she had to remain calm as to not rouse suspicion. She tried to keep her breathing even and think of a far away place away from her brother. He knelt down next to the bed and rubbed her arm, which felt like venom seeping into her skin.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you, Dahlia. This is all my fault.” She just wanted to scream out and push him away, but she couldn’t.

“It…it could have happened at anytime…don’t blame yourself.” She still hid her face in Tea’s neck, avoiding his gaze. She just wanted him to go away! Far away from her! She couldn’t stand to be near him at all! If he didn’t move away soon, she feared she’d lose control and shout it out right there. But she couldn’t do that, no matter how much she wanted too.

“I can’t continue to tell you how sorry I am…is there anything I can do?” She shook her head in response when she really wanted to tell him to just leave.

“Maybe you should leave, Sveyn.” Ludmund suggested, granting Dahlia’s silent wish. “If I was in Dahlia’s spot, I’d want you to leave.”

“Hey, whose side are you on anyway?! It was an accident and I already feel horrible about it! Don’t make it worse!”

“Then lets hope you learned your lesson.” Ludmund stood and pointed to the tent flap. “I’m quite upset with you right now. Go back to your tent and behave yourself. Honestly, I feel like I’m disciplining a little brother all over again.”

Sveyn looked back at Dahlia, who refused to look at him. He turned away from her without another word and left the tent. He really couldn’t blame them for being angry with him. For some reason, there was a small nagging in the back of his mind about last night, but he hadn’t the slightest idea what it was. His brain was still too foggy from his hangover. Maybe he’d remember it when his mind was a hundred percent sober again.

With that decided, his thoughts went back to Dahlia and that bastard Bakura. What nerve he had to go anywhere NEAR his little sister, much less take advantage of her! This incident has brought such distress to his family! He can’t just sit back and wait for the king and that snake Seto to make a decision! Something had to be done NOW! An eye for an eye! If there was one thing Sveyn liked to do most of all was seek revenge.

‘Who is important to Bakura?’ He thought to himself as he took a seat on one of the benches. Bakura had that skinny servant boy, but he clearly shows that he doesn’t care for him. Scratch the servant boy off the list. Who else? As much as he wanted to make Bakura suffer, he wanted the Bolverk family to suffer just as much. Make them feel the same pain and distress his family felt! But who else to pick? Seto’s little lapdog wouldn’t do much since neither him or Seto were of the Bolverk bloodline.

There was that tanned, bright blonde pretty piece of ass that belonged to Marik, but he really didn’t want to go there. Not that he was afraid of Marik or anything, he just didn’t want to have his sloppy seconds. So scratch the blonde off the list. There were those two stable boys, but they weren’t blood related either.

Then it came to him! He had almost forgotten Yami’s little “man wife”, Yugi! The perfect target! They all liked Yugi, and he was also Yami’s wife, not to mention the fact that Sveyn himself was interested in him. His grin widened as he began to hatch out his plan.
