Joey managed to keep to a fast walk while he was inside the school but as soon as he hit the front steps, his easy stride turned into a run. He raced down the path towards the school's front gate, not needing to worry about the risk of running into anyone. School was still in session, so there was no one to see his haste. Joey only slowed to a walk again when he reached the gate and spotted the waiting limo.
He approached it without hesitation, not surprised when the back door opened for him. Slipping into the seat, he turned to grin at the brunette sitting beside him. "I know I said to call the office and say there was a family emergency if ya wanted me, but I honestly didn't think you'd actually do it. So what's... up?" He frowned as he eyed the front of Kaiba's pants, visible beneath the other teen's open coat. "'Cause you're not." He looked at Kaiba in confusion. "I thought..."
Seto gave an abrupt nod. "We need to talk. This seemed like the easiest way. I have a reservation at 'Le Chevalier'. Will you join me for lunch?" He arched an eyebrow.
Joey showed Kaiba that he wasn't the only one with movable eyebrows. "Lunch? Kaiba... it's nearly 3 o'clock!"
Seto smiled wryly. "I have just come from an appointment at my tailor's. He is very good, but rather particular about his clients eating only after they have seen him." He shrugged - a late lunch was a small price to pay for the opportunity to see the man rendered speechless with shock as he saw the difference in a certain part of his client's anatomy. "Still, if you do not wish to join me..."
"I never said that!" Joey grinned. "Lunch was hours ago. I could eat again. Besides, no way I'm passin' up the chance to go there." He sat back in the seat. "I'm just surprised. It's the first time you've ever actually wanted to talk to me."
Seto was uncomfortably aware of that fact. He gave his driver instructions, then closed the privacy screen so what he was about to say remained between himself and the blonde at his side. "I have been giving certain matters some consideration and... I have reached a conclusion about them." He noticed the wary look Joey was giving him and wondered if perhaps he was getting ahead of himself. Abruptly, Seto decided on a change of approach.
"Wheeler... You told me why you agreed to Mokuba's request to help me, but why did you... do what you did?" He looked away, unable to meet the blonde's eyes.
Joey sighed. "Ya really don't know? Man... and here I thought I'd been so obvious about it."
Seto frowned and glanced at him. "Obvious? About what?" The blonde muttered something and Seto's frown deepened. "Did you just say what I think you just said?" He had to have misheard.
"I said I did it because I wanted to, did ya hear me that time?" Joey glared at Kaiba, bracing himself for the sneering dismissal he was expecting from the brunette.
Seto was in shock. Wheeler had wanted to do that to him. This was promising news, but there were still things he had to know. "Why?" He spoke softly, hoping that the blonde would calm down and realise that he was serious.
Joey shot a glance at Kaiba, then shrugged, trying not to get his hopes up at the brunette's tone of voice. "I thought ya might be a good lover." He winced as the words that came out of his mouth were definitely not the ones he'd been planning, but the truth. "I did not just say that." Closing his eyes, he waited to be thrown out of the moving car.
Seto smiled a little. He had been hoping that Wheeler's habit of speaking his mind would assist him in finding out the blonde's true feelings and it looked like they had. "What made you think that?" He was genuinely curious.
Joey cracked open one eye and peeked at Kaiba, slowly opening the other when he realised he wasn't about to be thrown out onto the road. "Um... well... you're always so calm and controlled, but when ya duel or we fight or ya get worked up over somethin', you're all passionate and stuff. I figured you'd be like that in bed too. Controlled until you get worked up and then... uh... yeah." Joey trailed off weakly, noticing the amusement in Kaiba's blue eyes.
"You seem to have given it quite a deal of thought. Do you think of me... making love... often?" Kaiba smiled and tried to hide the feeling of triumph swelling within him.
A deep tide of colour flooded the blonde's cheeks and he looked away, biting his lip. Then he rallied and turned back to grin at Kaiba, his eyes flashing in challenge. "Probably as often as you think of me when you're goin' solo."
Seto chuckled softly, both amused at Wheeler's unintentional provision of the perfect lead-in and delighted at the way this conversation was heading. "Frequently, then." He waited for Wheeler to realise what he'd just admitted.
Joey blinked at the unexpected response. "Kaiba..."
The limo pulled to a stop and Kaiba held up his hand. "Not now. We shall continue this inside." Joey nodded.
They stepped out of the car and headed for the entrance to 'Le Chevalier', Seto in the lead. It took him a few steps to notice that Wheeler was not right behind him anymore. Turning, he arched an eyebrow at the blonde, who had stopped in the middle of the sidewalk to stare at the restaurant with a look of apprehension. "Are you coming?"
Joey frowned and quickly caught up to Kaiba. Leaning in, he spoke softly. "Are ya sure they'll let me in there? I mean... it looks kinda classy and I'm just in my uniform."
Seto nodded, understanding Wheeler's concern. "When I made the reservation, I said it was for a business lunch. They will merely assume that you are one of the 'eccentric rich'. Trust me, they are likely to treat you even better because of it." He shrugged and continued towards the door, hiding his smile when Wheeler followed him.
As he had promised, the maitré de did not bat an eyelid at the blonde's clothes and treated him with as much respect as he did Seto. The brunette was a little amused at Wheeler's shock at being called 'sir', and watched him in interest as he looked around once they were seated inside the restaurant.
The blonde's awe at the décor was obvious, but Seto could not fault him for it. The restaurant had been designed to look like a French castle, with tapestries covering the stone-look walls and elegant ironwork merging with trestle-style tables and bench seats to create a somewhat medieval atmosphere that was rather elegant in its simplicity.
"Man, Kaiba this place is awesome." Joey took care to keep his voice down, leaning over to speak to the brunette. They had been seated at a table in the back corner of the restaurant, where the benches were set at right angles, rather than on opposite sides of the table. It was apparently designed for business meetings, because it was far easier to converse quietly than it would have been if they had been facing each other across the table.
Seto nodded. "So glad you approve. I assure you, the food is even better." He smiled a little at the way Wheeler's eyes lit up at that. "Here, the menu. Order what you like."
Joey eyed the menu and sighed. "Kaiba... I can't read it. It's in..." he peered at it, "I'm guessin' that's French."
The slightest of winces betrayed Seto's self-chastisement "My apologies. I am too used to dining here. I can translate for you."
"Nah, I'll just have whatever you're havin'." Joey grinned. "I'm sure you'll order somethin' good."
Seto nodded in approval of the blonde's strategy and glanced at the menu. "I believe I will have an egg salad with herb chicken and lemon cheesecake for desert." Noting the way Joey's grin widened, he knew it was acceptable to him as well.
After placing the order with their waiter, Seto glanced at the blonde. "As I was saying earlier..."
"So you were sayin' before..." Joey spoke at the same time. He looked at Kaiba and laughed. "Snap!"
Seto chuckled softly and nodded. "As I was saying earlier, I have been giving last night serious consideration and I have come to a conclusion." Noting how tense the blonde was as he listened, Seto decided to stop stalling and just come out and say it. "I was wondering if you would consider entering into some form of relationship with me?"
Joey stared at him.
When it appeared that the blonde was not going to answer, Seto looked away. "I take it that is a no." His voice was soft and he did his best not to reveal how disappointed he was.
"Uh... no, it's not that. Sorry, Kaiba, ya caught me by surprise there. I wasn't expectin' ya to say that. I mean... I didn't even think ya liked me!" Joey's smile faded into a look of uncertainty, then uneasiness. "Uh... unless ya meant a relationship as in... just sex?"
Seto winced as he realised how badly he had worded his proposition, and how fast he had moved in doing so. He sighed softly and shook his head. "My apologies, Wheeler. I should have explained myself before asking you. I am... not very good at speaking about this sort of thing." He silently cursed the heat he could feel in his cheeks.
Joey nodded, relaxing a little. "Fair enough. So... what sort of relationship did ya have in mind?"
It was the question he had been dreading, because he didn't really have an answer. "I do not know." Seto shifted in his seat so he was turned towards the blonde a little more. "I have never actually had any sort of relationship before. If you laugh, I will be forced to reconsider the idea entirely," he added in warning as he saw Wheeler grin.
"Not laughin'. I'm just happy to be your first." Joey winced. "I said that out loud, didn't I?"
Seto chuckled softly as he nodded. "You certainly did." Wheeler's reaction to his admission was a little surprising, but in a good way. It gave him hope that perhaps this would work out after all. "As I was saying... as I have not had a relationship before, I am not entirely certain what it would entail." He was pleased when Wheeler didn't answer right away. Seto could tell he was considering the matter carefully.
"I figure it's like a Duel." Joey grinned at the disbelieving look Kaiba gave him. "No, really. First we get our decks sorted out. Then we put our cards on the table and take it turn by turn from there."
"I should have known Duel Monsters would come into this in some way." Seto smirked and shook his head. "Still, I must admit it does make a certain amount of sense. I take it that by 'decks' and 'cards' you are referring to our... emotions?" he asked cautiously, wishing to make sure he was understanding the other teen correctly. When Wheeler nodded, Seto considered for a moment.
"Very well. Until last night, I believed that my 'deck' was in perfect order. Then you came to me and tossed half my cards on the floor." He smiled just a little at the blonde's look of understanding. "I took the time earlier today to go through my deck and reorganise it. I realised that some of my cards had been... upside down all this time."
It was a difficult thing for him to admit, but the deck and card analogy made it somewhat easier. Still, he knew that he needed to actually say the words. "What I have always believed to be instinctive dislike of you was in fact nothing more than confusion over what I was really feeling. In truth... there are times when I find you worthy of my respect and even times when you are the closest thing I have to a friend, aside from Mokuba."
He shook his head when Wheeler went to speak. If the blonde interrupted now, Seto knew he might never say what he needed to. "That is not an apology for anything I have ever said or done. I meant all of it. There are also times when you are exceedingly annoying and you have an ability to break my control over my emotions like no one I have ever encountered before." He frowned at the big grin that brought to Wheeler's face. "That makes you happy?"
Joey nodded, unable to stop grinning as his happiness overflowed. "I always thought ya let yourself go whenever we fought or duelled, I had no idea it was me gettin' through that thick shell of yours. So I'm special huh?"
Seto was a little stunned by the blonde's perspective, and how true it was. He smiled a little as he nodded. "I suppose you are. But do not let it go to your head," he added with a glare as Wheeler practically bounced in his seat.
He sighed. "What I am trying to say is... Do not expect me to change, Wheeler. Although there are sides to me that you have never seen, everything you have seen of me is real. Whatever happens between us, if anything does, you will have to accept me for who I am." He glanced at the blonde and was a little relieved to see how thoughtful he looked. At least he hadn't already started for the door. "Can you deal with me on those terms?"
Joey wasn't surprised by Kaiba's words. His straightforward nature was one of the things Joey liked most about him. If Kaiba had promised hearts, flowers and poetry, Joey would never have believed him. He knew the brunette too well for that. He had been honest with him. Joey figured the least he could do was give Kaiba an honest answer.
Grinning, he leaned forward slightly, looking into the other teen's amazing blue eyes. "That's no problem. I like ya as you are. But can you deal with me on those terms too? I don't have any hidden sides. What ya see is what ya get."
Seto hadn't realised how tense he was until he found himself relaxing at Wheeler's words. He smiled a little and nodded. "I am aware of that." He braced himself, then sealed their fate. "I like you as you are, also."
The look of pure joy he received in return for those words made him feel surprisingly warm.
"So where do we go from here?" Joey frowned a little and shook his head. "Somehow I can't see the two of us doin' the whole datin' thing."
Seto shuddered at the thought of the stir that would cause in the gossip columns and among Kaiba Corp. stockholders. "No. That would be... No." He sighed and looked at the blonde. "Maybe this was a bad idea."
Joey shook his head and grinned. "Nah. I'd say it's the best idea you've ever had. It's just gonna take us a bit of time to work out the details."
The waiter chose that moment to bring their meals, forcing the two teenagers to fall silent until he was gone. Even then, they remained quiet, focusing their attention on the delicious food and lost in their own thoughts. They didn't speak a word until halfway through their cheesecake, when Joey broke the silence.
"Ya know, Kaiba, we already know each other better than most married couples. Why don't we just skip the datin' part and go straight to the sex?"
Luckily Seto managed to swallow his bite of cheesecake before he choked.
"Wheeler!" Seto could not believe the blonde had just said that. On second thought, he could believe it. In fact, he should have anticipated it. Considering how hard and aching he was just from the image that had flashed into his mind at Wheeler's words, at least part of him apparently agreed with the idea, as well. Seto sighed. "I believe we should attempt to work out some sort of schedule for meeting. That is going to be difficult enough."
Joey arched an eyebrow and took a bite of his cheesecake. "Why? We go to the same school. We're even in a couple of classes together. Although, I'm pretty sure there's some rule against havin' sex there." He frowned as he thought about that, trying to remember what the rule was.
Seto wasn't sure whether he wanted to groan or smirk, so he went with a soft sigh instead. "Yes, there is a rule against it. However, my main concern is the gossip that would arise if we were seen together."
"The guys all know how I feel about ya, if that's what you're worried about." Joey had a feeling it was something more than that, and the brunette's silence confirmed it. Knowing Kaiba as he did, it wasn't all that hard for Joey to guess what was wrong. He had an image to maintain. "Ya know, Yug and Téa have been trying to get ya to sit with us for ages. There might be a bit of talk if ya did, but no one would ever guess why. They'd just figure you'd finally given up sayin' no. Maybe even had decided to be friends with us. We'll be just like normal, arguin' and stuff, right? That's just how we are. But to everyone else, it's not how lovers act. No one would ever guess we were together."
For a minute, Seto just stared at Wheeler, stunned at how easily the blonde teen had come up with a solution to what he had seen as a major problem. Then he smiled. "Wheeler... sometimes you amaze me." As the other teen grinned, Seto's mind raced. It could work. It could really work. If Wheeler was all right with doing it that way. There was only one way to find out.
"It is not only the gossip at school that concerns me. As the CEO of Kaiba Corp., I have very little privacy. My life is subject to close scrutiny at all times. The slightest hint of a relationship will have the gossip columnists in fits of delight for months." He looked at Wheeler, hoping the blonde understood where he was going with this.
Joey nodded slowly, frowning as he thought that over. "You work with a lot of stuffed shirts, you have a public image to keep up and there's Mokuba to consider. You're worried how they'll all react if they find out you're with another guy, right?"
Seto nodded. "Unfortunately, yes, it is a concern. Although, I do not believe this will surprise Mokuba at all. However, I do have shareholders that could make my life very difficult if they wished to and if stocks in Kaiba Corp. drop too far, too fast, then a take-over bid by a rival company is possible." He winced and rubbed the bridge of his nose, where he could feel a headache beginning to form.
"Relax, Kaiba." Joey wasn't entirely sure what the brunette was talking about, but he knew it must be bad for Kaiba to be so concerned over it. "Just answer me one thing. Do you trust your servants not to talk?"
"Yes." Seto didn't even need to think about it. "If I did not, then they would not be my servants. They are aware of this. I pay them well for their silence over my affairs and there is a clause in their contracts that covers it, also."
Joey grinned. "I was hopin' you'd say that. How are ya at maths?"
"Maths?" Seto arched an eyebrow, confused by the question. "I excel at it. Why do you ask?"
"Because my maths teacher told me last week if I don't get a tutor for it, I'm gonna flunk it." Joey's grin widened as he saw Kaiba catch on.
Seto smirked and nodded. "How often do you suppose you would you require... tutoring?"
Joey smirked as he ate his last bite of cheesecake. "Well, my maths is really bad. I'd say at least every evenin'."
An arched eyebrow and a single nod confirmed that Seto found the terms agreeable. "You realise of course that it is possible some of our tutoring sessions may go past your curfew. Would that be a problem for you?"
"Not really." Joey frowned as he thought about how to explain the situation. "If I'm not there when Dad locks the door, then I don't get in until the next mornin'. He doesn't care where I am or what I'm doin' and it's up to me to find a place to spend the night. He made that clear years ago." Joey shrugged. "So if ya don't mind me spendin' the night whenever we go past my curfew, that's fine. Or I can always spend those nights at Yug's."
Seto nodded, resisting the urge to say anything that might be mistaken for pity. He knew Wheeler had too much pride to accept that from anyone. "In that case, perhaps you had best bring some clothes with you at some point. So you do not have to go home to get ready for school." The other teen's grin told him he had said the right thing.
"Thanks, Kaiba. I'll do that. So... I guess you're headin' to Kaiba Corp. after this, huh? I mean, I know ya usually stay there until late and school's just barely out. Think you'll feel up to tutorin' me later, maybe?" Joey tried not to get his hopes up too high.
The rush of arousal he felt at the thought of their first tutoring session had Seto barely restraining a groan. "Oh, I would say that is more than likely. It will take us about half an hour to get back to the estate. Will that be 'later' enough for you?" He smiled at Wheeler's gasp.
Joey didn't know what surprised him more, Kaiba's willingness to skip work to play or his own willingness to skip another slice of the cheesecake so he could go play with Kaiba. Either way, he knew there was only one thing he could say at a time like this. "Just how private is that back seat of your limo, Kaiba?"
Seto stared at Joey for a moment then turned and raised his hand, signalling for the check.
@-->-->----
Late that night, Seto lay gazing down at the tousled blonde head of his lover as he slept soundly in his arms. His body ached a little from all the time they had spent enjoying each other, but it was an ache he was more than happy to endure. For the first time in years he felt completely relaxed, content and satisfied. He thought back over the past two days, to the moment when he had made the wish that had changed his life.
At the time, he had believed that he had everything he needed or wanted. The only thing in his life that he had been unhappy with had been the size of his manhood. Then his wish had been granted.
Now he knew how wrong he had been. There had been something else he had needed in his life. He had not seen it at the time and he doubted if he would have believed it even if he had. Fortunately, the wish had not only given him what he had asked for, but had also led him to what he had truly needed.
Seto remembered what he had been thinking about earlier that day - the wording of the wish. At the time, he had felt a little cheated because, although his newly enhanced sex drive was as powerful as he was, his shaft's size had not seemed to equal his position as CEO of Kaiba Corp. But during his time with Wheeler that afternoon, evening and night, it had occurred to him that he had been overlooking something.
His new shaft fitted perfectly in his lover's mouth. It was also just the right size to fill his lover without hurting him. Which made it ideal for his position as Joey Wheeler's lover.
Chuckling to himself at the whimsical nature of his thoughts, or perhaps fate, Seto shifted a little so he could rest his cheek against his lover's hair. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep, a contented smile on his lips as he held Wheeler's naked body so close against his own it was as if they were one being. Which was just the way he liked it.
