Chapter Nine

Mai watched from Mariku’s bed as he paced around his chambers.
“I’m sure Malik’s fine sugar.”
Wrapping the sheet around her body she went to embrace him, “Please come back to bed.”
Mariku groaned as Mai gently traced his tattooed wings.
“Mm..your trying to distract me again my dear.”
Mai laughed as she was lifted into her fiancee’s arms and carried back and laid down on the bed. Mariku laid next to her, resting his head on the pillow as her hand roamed his spiky locks.

The next morning the engaged princes had breakfast before Bakura escorted Malik back home.
“Are you going to tell your family of our engagement?” asked Bakura as they entered the castle.
Malik stopped walking which in turned caused Bakura to run into him.
“Should I tell them? I’m nervous now that I think about it. What should I do Bakura?”
“Do what you feel like doing.”

They entered the throne room where Malik knew his father and mother were. When Queen Ishtar saw her son she stood to take him into her arms.
“Where have you been Malik? We were worried about you.”
“I am sorry mother. I fell asleep at Bakura’s.”
Malik’s father frowned, “It is rumored that you are to be searching for a life mate.”
Bakura waited until Queen Ishtar released Malik before answering.
“I am no longer in search.” he took Malik’s hand in his own before continuing, “I have chosen you son as my partner.”
*Well that saves me the trouble of telling them.* Malik thought with a blush.

The King and Queen looked equally shocked at the information. Malik moved in so that he was pressed against Bakura’s side.
“Do you have nothing to say? Mama? Papa?”
The hand holding his tightened in a reassuring grip.
Malik’s mother was first to speak, “And what did you say when he asked Malik?”
The young fairy couldn’t tell by his mother’s tone of voice what she was feeling.
“I..I told him yes. I love him.”

“You should tell your son what is on your minds.” Bakura said as he gave Malik’s hand another squeeze.
“Marrying another male is forbidden in forbidden in Fairytopua.”
Maliks eyes widened and he took a step back at his father’s words.
“What...but ...papa?”
“There are no buts Malik. Now I think you should go do your studies and Bakura should leave.”

Bakura didn’t leave the tanned beings side even as the guards started to advance on him. He knew that if he left Malik now that the younger boy would be emotionally damaged.
“So you will not allow your son to become my spouse?”
“It’s forbidden.” Queen Ishtar said, though unlike Malik’s father she seemed sad, “If he does it he will no longer be allowed to live here.”
“I think you should leave now Spider Prince.”
Taking a look at Malik he was surprised to see the rage that shone through lavender eyes. It was the same expression he had on that one day with his brother. Who at that moment came into the room, Mai at his side.
“What’s going on?” Mariku glared when he saw Bakura standing there, “What is he going here?”
“Bakura.”
Malik’s voice came out in a whisper, “Bakura can you take me back to your place? I don’t want to be here if I can’t be with you.”

Malik wasn’t going to cry. He was surprised as Bakura’s hand brushed a strand of hair out of his face.
“Are you sure you want to do that Malik? You want to leave your family for me?”
Calmly Malik responded. “Yes. If they can’t accept us then they leave me no choice.”
The three members of Malik’s family there were in the room rushed forward to try and stop Malik as he and Bakura started leaving.
The room however was enclosed in shadows, blinding everyone.

When Malik could see again he found himself in the arms of his love, rushing through the forest. Malik let his head rest against the pale princes shoulder and allowed himself to fall into a deep sleep as he tried to block out the troubles in the world.
When he was conscious but half asleep he felt fingertips run over his face and Ryou’s voice.
“What has happened Bakura?”
“Those fucking fairies rejected our relationship. He asked me to bring him back here.. I’m not sure if he’s well though.”
“He does look a little pale dear.”

Malik was surprised to hear Niko’s voice. Slowly opening his eyes Malik saw the three white haired royals standing over him.
“Hello.” he greeted weakly.
They all gave him a small smile.
“Are you feeling ok sweetie?” asked Niko as she moved hair away from his eyes.
“I am fine. Thank you for your concern.”
“Well you are going to be my son in law soon.”
The fingers that had been running through his hair turned out to be those of Bakura.
“Niko, Ryou, could you leave Malik and I alone for a short while?”
Nodding Niko and Ryou both left.

Sitting up Malik placed his face into his palms as Bakura moved to sit behind him so that he could hold the fairy in his arms.
“You don’t have to do this Malik. Is your love for me really so strong that you would give up your family for me?”
Malik turned so he was face to face with the spider prince.
“How can you ask me that?! Of course it is. I love you Bakura I’d gladly give up my wings for you if you asked me to.”
Giving a small smile Bakura caressed the lovely wings, “I don’t think that will be necessary Malik.”

Bakura frowned when Malik turned back around and his whole body started shaking from the force of his sobs.
“Please don’t cry Malik. You don’t really have to leave your family if you don’t want to.”
“They didn’t leave me much of a choice Bakura. I want to be with you.... always.”
“Malik...”
Lavender eyes blinked when something wet landed on his shoulder.
Looking over Malik saw that it was a small droplet of blood
“Wha?”
Turning to face his fiancée again Malik saw that Bakura had a small trail of blood running down his cheek.
“I didn’t know spiders cried blood tears.” he said, whipping away the trail with his thumb and kissing his beloved.

Malik moaned as he felt Bakura’s hands run along his body. Sending shivers up his spine.
“Are you going to be alright?”
A tanned hand cupped the spider beings cheek, “You..do really love me don’t you?”
Malik asked berried his head in Bakura’s neck.

“I do love you. I don’t show it well but I do.”
At Bakura’s words Malik pulled him down for a soft caress of lips.
“Then I’m fine. As long as you love me I’m fine. I’ll be happy.”
Bakura grinned as they stayed wrapped up in one another’s arms.
“Are you ready to live happily ever after with me Malik?”
With a warm smile Malik responded, “ I’m past ready. I will be your for now until the end of time.”
“As I am yours.”
So the two were wed and Bakura became the most powerful king of all time.

A.N- I am aware that it took me a long time to write this and then ending is far from what I wanted but my imagination is not what it used to be. TO everyone who reviewed and kept up with this fic THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. It meant a lot to me and is what got me to finally finish it. <3
