Affair 9 : Keiyuu x Mai (PG-13 for language,
duel violence)

Summary : Beware the terror of the mirror
because what you see isn't always what you get�sometimes it's worse...

Life Point Standings

Mai : 2000

Keiyuu : 4000

Mai couldn't believe it, no matter what card she played, strategy she used�they
all got turned against her.

Harpy Lady.

Harpies Pet Dragon.

Harpy Lady Sisters.

Even her favored Mirror Wall! The other girl had soon dropped her disguise and
stood on the other side of the duel field looking completely unphased by what
had progressed. She made Mai shiver a bit because of her coldness reminding her
somewhat of Marik's.

�There's only one person that's worthy of my time right now, and you're not it�
Keiyuu finally said, dragging Mai out of her half-panicked thoughts as Violet
met Red.

�What on Earth are you talking about?�

�I came to this tournament for one reason only�and that was to challenge him�
she said, smirking slightly.

�Him? Who are you�Yugi�� she thought, then chuckled slightly tossing some of
her blond curls over her shoulder. �Nice try, but anyone who's anyone knows the
very first person that's going to get to Yugi will be Kaiba�

�Who said Kaiba's even participating in this tournament?� she shrugged, looking
over her nails, then glancing back at the other person. �Besides, who's going
to stop me? Certainly not you precious because you can't even stop me now. And
speaking of stop�� she said glancing over her hand. �Here's something else to
stop you cold�now I summon Red Eyes Black Chick in attack mode and one more
card face down and end my turn�

�Red Eyes Chick? What on Earth�?� Mai blinked. This was definitely a new one
for her.

�Oh he's harmless, hon,� she laughed mocking Mai's tone as Mai growled taking
her turn.

�Well, say goodbye to your baby then�I summon��

�Hold it!�

�Shit�� Mai groaned.

�I activate my face down card, Mind Crush. I declare that you have the card
Amazoness Tiger in your hand� Keiyuu grinned as Mai gasped.

`Oh gods�she's pulling my number I did back in duelist kingdom�except she's got
that card�' Mai thought as she pulled said card to the graveyard. �Done yet?�

�Oh yes, quite done,� Keiyuu chuckled.

�Fine then��

�Your turn's over�

�What?!?!?� Mai stomped her foot, but then blinked seeing another card
activated beside her that Keiyuu pointed towards.

Pyro Clock of Destiny.

`What the�when�damnit all!' Mai thought furiously as she nervously chewed on a
nail. `There's gotta be some way around this�'

�My turn. First I summon Skilled Dark Magician to the field,� she declared as
said monster appeared before her right beside the REBC. �Then I activate the
magic card, Cheeful Coffin, which has me discard 3 cards from my hand� she said
as she selected 3 cards and put them in the slot as the middle button on the
Magician lit up. �and if you're wondering, that's a Magic Counter dear� she
grinned talking to her in a manner that a child would from a parent.

�Shut�up! I'm not a professional duelist for nothing you know!� Mai hissed.
�Just finish your move!�

�Tch�that impatient to lose? Very well. Second, I activate the special ability
of my REBC as I tribute it to summon�Red Eyes Black Dragon!� she declared as
the egg disappeared and in it's place stood the magnificent black dragon.

�Jounouchi�� she whispered putting her hand over her mouth.

�Yes, I do believe this is the favored card of Jounouchi Katsuya, is it not?�
she smirked as Mai glared at her. Keiyuu chuckled.

`What is this? Is she trying to make fun of all of us? Knowing her she's
probably got a Blue Eyes in there too!' Mai thought.

�I told you my name was the Mirror Duelist before, remember Mai? Anything you
guys have got in your decks, so do I�and then some,� she grinned holding up her
duel disk.

�No way�that's not possible!�

�Oh but it is, and that's why I will dominate in this tournament! Hahahahah!�
she laughed.

�You won't win. No one can touch Yugi. He's unstoppable,� Mai grinned.

�Ah, but Kaiba did didn't he back on Duelist Kingdom?� Keiyuu smirked as Mai's
eyes went wide.

�H-how would you��

�Wherever Yu-Gi-Oh has been, I've been right there with him� she said.

�You're absolutely nuts,� Mai quirked an eyebrow. �I've been in both Duelist
Kingdom and Battle City and I saw neither hide nor hair of you, so I think
you'd best stop with your adolescent fantasies girlie�

�Fantasies? How about you fantasize about the victory you would've had here
today if you weren't such a fool! Now then, I activate the magic card, Dark
Core, as I discard another card from my hand to remove my REBD from play� she
said as the second magic counter activated and began to start her third move
noticing Mai's befuddled expression. `So far, so good�she doesn't suspect a
thing�' �And finally, I activate the magic card Final Flame to zap 600 of your
life points�and activate the special ability of Skilled Dark Magician in order
to summon�Dark Magician!� she called out as the third magic counter activated
and one magician vanished being replaced with the other.

�Dark�Magician�� Mai took a step back feeling a bit uneasy.

�I end my turn� Keiyuu announced.

�Eh?!� Mai almost tripped at that moment hearing the girl suddenly announce the
end of her turn. `What the fuck�? She could've finished me off in one move.
What's her angle?' Mai narrowed her eyes at her opponent, seeing an unreadable
expression upon the other's face.

�What's the matter, hon? Don't want to partake in my generosity? I thought it'd
be fair just to give you some sort of fighting chance�no matter how little,�
she laughed, tucking a strand of silver hair behind her ear.

�Shut�up! Don't you ever get tired of hearing yourself? God knows I do�� Mai
sighed as she drew from her deck and scanned over her hand. `This is taking a
long shot, but�here goes�' �First I summon Amazoness Fighter to the field in
attack mode!� Mai said as the monster appeared on the field. �Next I activate a
magic card, Secret Pass to the Treasures, which allows my Fighter to bypass
your monster and attack you directly!� she said as the card activated and
Fighter deducted 1300 attack points from Keiyuu's life points. (2700) �Then I activate
this magic card called Dark Room of Nightmare, which makes you lose 300 life
points every time I take life points from you other than battle damage!� (2400)

Unseen to the pair, Yami and Jou watched from a distance.

�Whoa, Yami, that other duelist is something else isn't she?� Jou noted.

�Yes, indeed� Yami narrowed his eyes.

�What the hell was she talking about she's been with you during all of the
tournaments?� Jou wondered as Yami shook his head.

�I haven't the slightest idea, nor do I care at the moment. I have a few other
pressing issues at hand�� Yami said immediately thinking about Bakura and Yugi.
He still hadn't been able to deal with Bakura and Yugi seemed to be avoiding
him like the plague - he couldn't even communicate with him through the mind
link! `Aibou�' he thought ruefully.

-- Across Town -

*Ding Dong*

Malik went and opened the door revealing Yugi on the other side. �Yugi��

�Do you mind if I come in?� he asked.

�No, no. Please�but aren't you supposed to be at the tournament?� he asked.

�� Yugi looked away as Malik touched his shoulder.

�Did my yami say something to you the other day about Pharaoh and Bakura?�
Malik asked as Yugi stiffened, giving him his answer. Malik then grabbed Yugi's
hand as they went into the living room and sat down.

�Yugi�let me ask you something ok?� Malik said still holding Yugi's hand in
his. It was unfair that his best friend be in so much pain, but it was evident
that the other hikari really didn't have a clue as to what was truly going on.
Malik took a deep breath. �Did you know��

�Not bad for a start, Kujaku,� Keiyuu grinned.

�The name's Mai. Get it straight ok?� Mai growled. �And I'm not done with you
yet either. I place 3 cards on the field and then end my turn�

�Bravo, my dear, bravo�� Keiyuu clapped slowly. �I guess we all can't be
dueling geniuses like Kaiba and Yugi though�oh well, this was fun while it
lasted�� she chuckled. �First up, I activate the magic card, Mystical Space
Typhoon to get rid of one of your magic cards��

�Activate trap! Curse of Royal!� Mai declared as Mystical Space Typhoon
vanished from the field.

�Ooh, real sneaky�and very elementary�fine, you may keep your precious face
down card if it means so much to you.

�Activate trap�Magical Thorn! For every card that you lose, you also lose 500
life points as well�� Mai grinned. �Still think I'm elementary?� (1900)

�To be honest�yes! Next I summon Dark Blade to rid the field of your Fighter!
Dark Blade, Triple Blade Strike attack!� Keiyuu commanded the monster as it
went ripped right through Fighter; however, due to Fighter's special abilities,
she didn't lose any life points. �You have a long way to go, Kujaku-san�and
now, my Dark Magician�finish her off! Dark Magic Attack!� she pointed as the
magician flew right in front of Mai and prepared its attack.

�MAI NO!!!� Jounouchi cried out.

�Activate trap! Draining Shield!� Mai smirked as a barrier appeared around her
just as Dark Magician released his attack and the attack got absorbed into the
shield.

�Wha da��

�That was brilliant!� Yami exclaimed as they looked to see Mai's LP increase to
4500.

�What happened, Yams? What did that card do?� Jounouchi scratched his head
confusedly.

�It's a rare magic card I've only seen in play a few times. It's actually a
prize card won in tournaments. It's effect allows a direct attack to be
absorbed by the card and the attack points of the monster attacking gets added
to the holder's life points� he explained.

�Holy crap!� Jou said looking over at Mai, who had a smirk upon her face at
that moment and Keiyuu looked unchanged. �Damn�she's a real pain in the ass��

�Hmm�� Yami narrowed his eyes. ` Just who on Earth is this girl?'

`I sense you're watching Yu-Gi-Oh�you'll get a taste of my true prowess now�'
Keiyuu grinned to herself as she looked over at Mai who looked like that cat
that got the cream. Time for a little poison�

�My�that was impressive. That's the first time I've ever had someone to refuse
me so outrightly�� Keiyuu fawned fake shock at Mai's move.

�Don't underestimate me! Many have done so before and it has cost them
dearly�you're no exception to that rule�� Mai hissed as Keiyuu chuckled, the
burst out laughing. `Oh my God�let me get rid of her quick so I don't have to
put up with such jackassery�' she sighed. �Are you done blowing hot air yet?�

�Fine�I set two cards face down and end my turn. It's such a pleasure having
the almighty Yu-Gi-Oh and Jounouchi watching me�� she chuckled, not turning to
look at either of the guys.

�Whatever. My turn! First off, I summon Blue Winged Crown to the field in
attack mode�next I activate the magic card, Riryoku to increase it's attack
(4100) and decrease your Dark Magician's attack (1250)�say goodbye! Blue Crown,
Chaos Wing Whirlwind!� `I'm gonna win�'

�Activate trap�Curse of Darkness��

Mai : 1000

�You'll still lose!� Mai declared as the attack sped towards her monster.

�Activate trap�Spirit Barrier��

The attack struck, but Dark Magician remained on the field at 1250.

�Yami�what the hell just happened?�

�You can't beat me�no one can�I told you before�what you see isn't always what
you get�sometimes it's even worse�� Keiyuu grinned. Mai felt her heart in her
throat right then and fought to keep the overwhelming urge to pass out right
then.

-- Malik's -

�And he couldn't have told me this himself because�?� Yugi growled.

�Yugi, stop it! You obviously haven't been paying very good attention to me
then�� Malik sighed pinching the bridge of his nose as to ward off an oncoming
headache. �Yami wasn't doing this to hurt you you know��

�Huh. Could've fooled me. I'm tired of being treated like an idiot though and I
don't appreciate this one bit�he's going to pay�� Yugi got to his feet and
stormed out before Malik could say another word.

-- Duel Grounds -

Jounouchi cradled Mai's unconscious form in his arms as Keiyuu walked over to
Yami. �Why'd you have to go that far? This is only a game� Jounouchi called to
her.

�I warned her and just like her this is a warning to you all�except you�,� she
smirked touching Yami's face.

�You stay away from him!� Jounouchi yelled at her.

�You are my ultimate prize�� she whispered bringing their faces a few inches
apart.

�Touch him with those disgusting things you call lips and I'll make sure you
don't touch anyone ever again�� another voice hissed behind her. Yami blinked
stepping back seeing a blade at the girl's throat and looked to see Bakura
there out of no where as he groaned and shook his head. `What did she do to
me?' Yami wondered.

�You ok?� Bakura asked as their eyes met.

�Yeah�thanks. Jounouchi, how's Mai?� Yami asked him as he walked over towards
the blond, leaving Bakura behind.

`He still doesn't trust me�' Bakura thought dejectedly as he watched his lover
go as they went to take Mai to the infirmary.

�Ooh�shut out. Ex-lover I suppose that you still have the hots for?� Keiyuu commented
as Bakura his grip tightened on the knife and also it up against the girl's
throat.

�None of your ra-damned business you bitch�� he hissed. �You stay the fuck away
from him, got that?�

�I can't. I'm in the tournament you know�� she chuckled as she ducked
underneath his blade. �I can see you're going to be a pain in the ass, but as
long as you stay out of my way I won't have to kill you�

�Hah. I'd like to see you try�� Bakura's eyes got dark and very serious. Keiyuu
patted him on his shoulder as she walked off laughing. `Who on Earth is she? I
can't let her get close to Yami�I need to work things out with him�'

Marik had watched the whole scenario play out before him while he watched from
the opposite side of the rafters. �So�it would seem someone else is interested
in the Pharaoh�� he then glanced down to see Bakura heading in the same
direction as Yami and Jounouchi as he growled clenching his fist. `Still
wanting to kiss and make up hmm? Seems a more drastic measure is needed�'

-- Infirmary -

�Hey guys�what happened?� Mokuba asked entering the room with Kaiba trailing
behind him, coat tails and all.

�Hey Mokuba. I don't know. This crazy chick was Mai's challenger and she�I
dunno�didn't you guys watch the duel?� he asked as he lover came over and
hugged him around the neck.

�I don't have time to babysit you bonketsu duelists, Jounouchi,� Kaiba snuffed.

�Big brother!� Mokuba hated the way his brother treated Jounouchi. His lover
was just as good of a duelist as his brother, although he was stubborn to admit
it. �No, unfortunately we didn't. My brother's been in meetings all day and
I've been doing�stuff�tournament related, mind you� he swatted Jou's arm seeing
the suspicious look upon his face. �What's the matter you guys?� he wondered as
Yami and Jou exchanged a look between them.
