Hey, guys, I hope you like this chapter. And I am so sorry for taking so long to
update! Blame work, I do.
Since I promised you
another two chapters, I have cut this chapter in half, which means it
will be short. No more than a thousand words, if I can be bothered…I’m lazy!
Leave me be! But don’t forget to review. Then I won’t be lazy!
~ * ~
Staring out the balcony
doors, Bakura watched as rain was blown onto the glass. He did find the trail
the rain left behind to be very interesting. It was like it was making its own
path, leaving it behind to for anyone to follow. It was open to all. That’s when
he realized he had lost what sanity – if any – he had left. Even if it did
remove his sanity, he still found it took away his boredom, or stopped him from
thinking of something he didn’t want to think about.
That was the reason why
he was staring at the rain at this point in time. He didn’t want to think. It
had been three days since he had come to realization of him being physically and
emotionally attracted to Yami. He didn’t like it. He had never allowed himself –
except once, but that was only once – to get attached to someone.
He had no problem with
getting attached to someone, just not the pharaoh. He wouldn’t have minded it so
much, or tried to convince himself that it was only a passing whim, if he had
found himself attached to…Okay, so there was no-one. Nonetheless, Bakura could
still get attached to someone. He just wished it was someone he actually liked.
But Yami was someone he
liked. Someone he liked a lot. He would be lying if he said he was never
attracted to Yami. Kaiba had no idea on what he was missing out on. Bakura
snickered. For once, he was glad that Kaiba was too proud. That arrogant prick
probably still wouldn’t give Yami the time of day. At this point in time, Bakura
actually liked Kaiba, just not in that way.
Standing from his bed,
where he had currently been sitting while watching the rain, Bakura walked about
his room. The rain was a traitor. Even it was making him think of Yami. He
wouldn’t admit it, but when Yami didn’t show up for school, Bakura had gotten
worried about him. He was curious on if he had done something to the darker
spirit, if he had hurt him.
Going to one of the
bedside chests, Bakura opened the second draw, looking down at the lonely object
in there. It was a necklace. One he had bought many moons ago, before he even
knew he would need it. He hadn’t bought it for himself. No. This was for someone
else; he just didn’t know whom at the time. He stared down at the necklace,
shaking his head and putting it away.
Would they continue on
with their nightly visits? Bakura threw himself down on his bed, staring at his
ceiling. He knew he couldn’t continue to see Yami without confessing. And the
confession is what frightened him. The fear of rejection still haunted him, as
it would with anyone.
Closing his eyes, Bakura
replayed the time he saw Yami laugh. Opening his eyes to slits, Bakura thought
to himself. Perhaps Ryou was right. No. There was no “perhaps” about it. Ryou
was right, and that got Bakura rather peeved.
This is more than a
physical attraction. As much as he didn’t want it to be, Bakura knew this was
love. All that lovey-dovey bullshit. He didn’t want it. It had been a while
since he last thought of it. He hadn’t wanted anything to do with emotion. He
detested that one above all the others. He had seen what love could do. Make
people do stupid things, all in the name of love.
Getting off the bed,
Bakura walked round his room again. Was it too soon to call what he felt for
Yami love? How long did it take for the full effects to kick in? Was this it?
This feeling of wanting to be with him? How much longer could he remain in
denial?
‘Yami’s here, ‘Kura!’
Bakura faced his door as
Ryou called through it. What could Yami want? He had cancelled tonight’s meet.
Why did he have to show up? Is he concerned about me? Does he feel the same
as I do? Bakura realized what he was thinking and scolded himself.
When did he start jumping
to conclusions? When did he not jump to a conclusion? He flinched when the door
opened. It was too soon, right? He couldn’t see Yami so soon. Not just after
coming to terms with what he felt.
Right now he felt numb.
He felt cold. Worst yet, he felt alone. His mind telling his heart that there
was no way possible for Yami to return his feelings. Yeah, that’s it. He’s
here to tell me he doesn’t want to see me again…Ack. What am I thinking?
Bakura forced himself to
stop thinking. He had no idea why Yami was there, but his mind played out the
worst case scenarios just in case.
When Yami entered the
room, Bakura felt this urge to just hold him, explain his feelings to the
pharaoh. To just hope that everything would be alright. Instead, Bakura went for
the opposite. He didn’t want to be hurt. He didn’t want someone to harm him
emotionally. He wouldn’t allow it.
‘Get out, Yami.’
Yami frowned. He had just
spent the most of the last three days trying to understand himself, and this is
the greeting he gets from the person who had caused him so much confusion. Well,
he wasn’t about to lie down and take this, either. He was going to get every
straightened out, whether it killed him or not.
Crossing his arms over
his chest, Yami glared at Bakura, which he lost. Bakura looked so lost and
almost hurt. Yami didn’t want to start an argument, but he wasn’t going to leave
either. It seemed like it was going to be one or the other. There had to be a
way out.
‘Bakura –’
‘I said get out. I didn’t
say stay, I said leave.’
‘No.’
Bakura’s eyes widened
slightly. Did something happen to the runt? No. Yami would have called. So, it
wasn’t life threatening. What else could it be?
Now that he had Bakura’s
attention, Yami let his arms fall to his side again. Leaning his back against
the door, he lowered his gaze. He didn’t know how he was going to word this
without making Bakura take it the wrong way. That left very little options.
Nervously chewing his
lower lip, Yami continued to stare down at the black tiles. Did it have to come
to this? He had spent a little over a week with Bakura. He had expected this to
happen after a month or two. Did he attach himself to Bakura because he knew he
couldn’t Kaiba? Yami didn’t know. All he was certain of was that he liked
Bakura, liked him a lot.
Raising his eyes slowly,
he saw Bakura staring at him. Most likely waiting for him to leave. Yami wasn’t
about to be a good slave and do what his master wanted. It would probably earn
him a belting and a half, but after Bakura heard the reason, perhaps it would be
forgotten.
‘Bakura, I’m scared.’

End Chapter IX.
Told ya, short and the
next chapter won’t be much better. Actually, it probably will since I saved most
of this chapter for the last one. See? I’m good at keeping my promises!

just after.
Once again, thank you
