Maximilian Pegasus paced the length of his enormous ornate bedroom, stripping himself of his confining suit as he moved across the room. He tore his jacket from his lithe frame leaving it on the floor for one of his many paid subordinates to tend to. He practically ripped the buttons from his shirt as it joined its partner on the imported hand-loomed Persian carpet. He paused long enough to pour himself a glass of his favorite cabernet, and then continued pacing. His mind was racing from events earlier in the evening. Three of Yugi’s friends (two of them insignificant, Bakura could prove useful) had snuck into his private sanctuary and attempted to stick their grubby noses into his private affairs.
Thankfully he had happened upon them while they were snooping around, looking for hidden cameras or something just as ridiculous. Imagine him needing hidden cameras to know what was happening in his opponents’ hands and minds. He would have laughed out loud at such an absurd suggestion if they hadn’t been so close to discovering the truth about why this tournament was being held. One of the insignificant ones was reaching for his journal when he had made his presence known. He was incensed that they were so lacking in decorum that they would even consider violating his most private thoughts. It was that action more than their break and enter that had caused him to take the opportunity to show them the Shadow Games as they had once been played. He would have had three very strong souls for his cause if not for the spirit in Bakura’s Millennium Ring. The annoying spirit had whisked the three teens away declaring that none of them would remember any of this. Pegasus hoped that the spirit was not naive enough to believe that the spell would work on him. Though he would have preferred to acquire the power from the teen’s souls, he was content that they wouldn’t be blabbing what they saw and he could get his hands on Bakura’s ring another time.
As the events played out in his mind again he gradually calmed himself. The interference of the three wasn’t as catastrophic as he had first thought it to be, though he was furious that they had managed to get past his many guards. And for their dereliction of duty, three of them had found themselves sent to the shadow realm in place of the three teenagers. Why did he have so many well-paid guards if three insignificant teenagers could sneak right past them? Since Croquet was responsible for hiring the incompetents he would have to think of something ingenious to punish him with later. Though the subtlety would be lost on him, the poor soul had no imagination whatsoever. He only understood things he could see and touch; he was never able to grasp the abstract. Pegasus would have discarded him a long time ago, but the man was unwavering in his loyalty to his boss and that was a quality almost impossible to find. He tolerated the man’s lack of dimension to have such a devoted servant; in Pegasus’s mind it was an adequate compromise.
He grudgingly commended the ingenuity and bravery of the three teens for climbing up the outside of the tower. Not to mention the chivalrous nature of the two young men for climbing up underneath the young lady to catch her if she should fall and they were blindfolded to save her the mortification of them seeing up her skirt. Though on further contemplation he decided that her modesty would not allow the two young men the opportunity to view her private regions, no matter the peril to her person. Though Pegasus wondered to himself how one could profess such modesty when one’s skirt barely covered one’s assets. No the blindfolds were her idea he was sure, but it was Joseph’s friend, now what was his name... ah yes... Tristan. It was Tristan who insisted on climbing up behind her to catch her if she fell. Although he was a normal teenager with overactive hormones the young lad did seem to have a vein of decency running through him.
Pegasus was not yet in a tranquil mood, but the raging inner storm had calmed considerably. Recently, thoughts of a particular blond seemed to have a soothing effect on his beleaguered nerves. He didn’t find it odd that just thinking his name had dropped his blood pressure a great degree. He wasn’t consciously aware that it had, and therefore he didn’t question it.
He popped open the latch of a decoratively carved arched window, swung the panes outward and sat in the open frame, cradling his glass of wine in both hands. Pegasus stared out at the cloudless night sky illuminated by a full moon and an infinite sea of shimmering stars. It was the kind of night he loved best, the air was crisp and clear and there was just the slightest breeze wafting up from the sea surrounding his island. He slipped his shoes off and made himself as comfortable as he could in his chosen seat on the stone window ledge.
It was time for his nightly survey of all who inhabited his tiny universe. This was something he had done for years to hone the ability of his magic powers, and in the last few nights it had become a very pleasurable exercise.
As he had since he first became aware of him on the ferry, Pegasus sought out Joey Wheeler. Tonight the blond was sleeping in a room directly across the courtyard and one floor below his own; therefore he could bypass the search and immediately commence his guilty pleasure of watching the sleeping boy. His blood pressure rose to immeasurable heights when he discovered Bandit Keith standing over the sleeping boy, leering at him with a look akin to that of a hungry wolf that had just come across a helpless piglet. Instead of sending him straight to the Shadow Realm, Pegasus probed his mind wanting to know what the hulking American was thinking. Though just being in that room at that time of night uninvited, his intentions were crystal clear. The game creator was not expecting the conflict battling itself out in the head of the one he was reading. Should he take what he wants, or take what he needs?
Pegasus raised a perfectly arched eyebrow and sipped his wine as he thought about this. Take what he wants, that was obvious; but take what he needs? He probed a little further to satisfy his curiosity. Ah the Glory of the Kings Hand card he needed to get into the semifinals and to collect the cash prize if he won the finals. A devilish smile appeared as he watched the ongoing conflict in Keith’s mind. In reality it wasn’t a contest, and Pegasus knew he would take the card. His compatriot was a greedy fellow and as tempting as Joey was, Pegasus could not imagine Keith passing up the opportunity of winning three million dollars. He would have to be watched though, because who knew what the barbarian would do after the tournament. After a few more minutes of pointless contemplation Keith turned from the bed and headed to the coat rack that held Joey’s jacket and the precious card.
Pegasus considered sending Bandit Keith on a permanent vacation to the Shadow Realm, but was curious about how Joseph would handle the situation. The young man had found a way out of many seemingly hopeless predicaments already during the tournament and he wanted to see what the young man would come up with this time. He had no doubts that Joey would be victorious over this little setback; the boy just had that kind of luck. If for some reason he couldn’t solve it himself then Pegasus decided that at that point he would step in and disqualify Bandit Keith and have Joseph declared the winner of the match. Though of course this all depended on whether Keith left the room with only the card. If he so much as touched one hair on Joseph’s head, Bandit Keith would be spending a very long time in the darker dimension.
Pegasus’s blood began to boil when Keith pocketed the card and instead of leaving the room he once again approached the sleeping beauty. He stared at Joey from the foot of the bed and contemplated his options. If he blindfolded him with his headband and tied him to the bed, the blond would never know who it was. Yeah that just might work and the missing card would just be a coincidence. His pants grew tighter with visions of the helpless body beneath him as he took his pleasure from his unwilling victim. As the imaginary screams and cries of pain reverberated in his head Keith began to rub himself through his jeans. He could almost smell the tang of fresh blood mixed with sex and it was turning him on, making him loose all sense of reality. He would not be gentle with the boy... oh no there would be no tender kisses or endearing words spoken, just punishing raw sex. The dweeb needed to be punished for the mockery he had made of him and his boys back in the cave. He had to be made to pay for turning him on then laughing in his face, making it clear that Bandit Keith would never have a chance with Joey Wheeler. He wanted the blond and this was the perfect opportunity to satisfy that craving, he didn’t care if Joey shared in that desire or not. He knew there had to be something to tie him up with and he scanned the room searching for something that would suit his purpose. When his eyes lit on the pull-cord for the curtains he almost whooped out loud at his good fortune. He pulled his switchblade from his boot and strode to the window.
Pegasus’s breath constricted in his throat while he watched in stunned silence as Bandit Keith proceeded in his diabolical quest to rape Joseph. Pegasus obviously didn’t have a grip on his normal grace under fire mentality, otherwise at that very moment Bandit Keith would have been in the Shadow Realm spending the rest of eternity as the victim in the scenario that was now playing itself out in his head. Instead he sat motionless, while internally his emotions whirling about all over the place. Eventually they consolidated into a tight ball of anger and an overwhelming desire to swoop down on Bandit Keith and rip his heart out through his chest overtook him. His only concern at the moment was to get to Joseph and keep him safe.
It would be nice if the guards that were supposed to be in that wing were there, but they weren’t. Where were they? This was the second time that night that they had neglected their posts. Keith should never have been able to get near Joseph’s room let alone get inside. Heads would roll for this infraction and someone would pay dearly if he were harmed. The anger he was experiencing quickly faded to be replaced by helpless panic. Joseph was at the mercy of that hulking beast and at the moment there was nothing he could do about it, he was too far away to stop it. But wait, there was something he could do he wasn‘t powerless… ‘Don’t panic Max, don’t panic...’
He sat on his window ledge trying to get a hold of himself ‘Think, be calm, get a grip. Running down there won’t help; he’ll be done and gone by the time you get there. Think...’ He was gripping his wineglass so tightly that the stem snapped; the bowl hit the top of his hand as it tumbled to onto the window ledge spilling its contents and smashing on the stone ledge. Instinctively he opened his hand to release the jagged stem and let it fall to join the rest of broken glass. Tiny rivulets of blood dripped from his hand where it had been cut and mingled with the red wine staining the window ledge. The sting of the cuts on his hand brought him back to his senses and Pegasus gained control of his faculties once again. He couldn’t believe that he forgot the enormous power housed in his left eye socket and felt more than a little silly. He pulled his hair back from his face and focused all of his attention on Bandit Keith.
Joey rolled over and shouted out in his sleep “hey, don‘t touch that.”
Keith’s heart jumped to his throat, and he whipped around when he heard the blond shout out. The sound of Joey’s voice was enough to return him to a semi-reasonable state of mind. Reasonable enough to realize that taking Joey here was too risky. Anyone could come across them, and if the blond reported anything he was sure to be a suspect because of the animosity between the two of them. Then there was the aspect of their host. He didn’t quite know how he did it, but Keith believed that Pegasus could read minds with that freaky eye of his and he didn’t want to hazard getting caught that way. As much as he wanted to fuck Joey senseless, perhaps here and now wasn’t the best of circumstances. He could wait until after he won the tournament and got off this God forsaken island. Wait until they got back to Domino City, then he could arrange to have much more than just a quickie with the sexy little twit. With a tremendous amount of restraint that was uncharacteristic for him, Keith turned away from the bed. With a last lustful glance over his shoulder at the sleeping Joey, he headed for the door.
“That’s my pizza,” the blonde mumbled in his sleep.
Keith, who was halfway out the door turned to look at the blond and shook his head. “You are such a dweeb,” he said scornfully under his breath as he closed the door behind him.
Pegasus was laughing unrestrainedly, mostly from relief but also from amusement. “Oh Joseph, you do have such a voracious appetite now don’t you” he commented out loud to the empty room, wiping tears from his eye.
He recovered enough to follow Keith into the hall and watch as he made his way back to his room. ‘Don’t think that you’ve gotten away with this Bandit Keith. I will make sure that you don’t harm a hair on that boy’s head while you are here or once you are back on the mainland. I haven’t decided how I will punish you, but it will be harsh. I need to think on this, plus I want to see how Joseph will handle this little setback. I want to see if he is as resourceful as I think he is. And I want to see him humiliate you in your duel tomorrow.’
Once he was sure Keith was no longer a threat Pegasus moved the debris to a little pile on the window ledge. He pressed his wounded hand into his pant leg to stop the miniscule flow of blood, while he resumed his stargazing. His reaction to what had almost happened to Joseph was perplexing to say the least. The boy was strong, with a very quick mind, and loyal to a fault. These were all traits that Pegasus admired in a person, but still it didn’t make sense that he would get so upset about Bandit Keith and his nasty little plot. Pegasus had never in his life felt general compassion for other people’s miseries and misfortunes. The only ones who had ever benefited from his concern were his parents and of course Cecelia. For as long as he could remember she had been his number one priority and her well being his utmost concern. As much as he cared for her, he could never bring himself to be concerned about the sufferings of strangers. So it was very unsettling that when he thought Joseph was in danger he felt something akin to fear. Fear? Why would he be so frightened for Joey, if that was even the feeling he had experienced? And coming unglued the way he did, what was that about? He was certainly relieved that there were no witnesses to that little incident.
He just didn’t understand any of it. The boy was stunningly gorgeous to be sure, but that didn’t explain his reactions to the evening’s events. His head hurt trying to figure it out. He couldn’t be attracted to him? Could he? Well he certainly paid more attention to him than was warranted, at least than it was initially. Joey was just an upstart with little experience, who had tried to sneak onto the ferry transporting the invited duelists to the island. When his guards informed him of the blond’s intent, his initial reaction was to have him tossed off the boat. But before he did, he gave him a once over and was impressed with the desire burning in the pit of his belly. He wasn’t fighting for glory or to get rich, he was desperate for the cash prize but it was for his baby sis not for him. And the fact that he was Yugi-boy’s best friend, trained by the boy’s grandfather probably meant that despite his inexperience he was a better duelist than most of the champion’s invited there. Joey had intrigued Pegasus enough to allow him to stay. And he hadn’t disappointed his host through his many battles with duelists who had much more experience than him. He had been on the brink of defeat more times than Pegasus could count, but time and time again the blond was struck with a stroke of genius or dumb luck; he wasn’t quite sure which it was and had ended up in the semi-finals.
Pegasus picked up the larger pieces of glass and raised himself from his seat; he walked across the room and threw them in the trash. He then went back and closed the window; his maid could take care of the smaller pieces of glass tomorrow. He then headed towards his bathroom. Once inside he examined his hand only to find a few small cuts, nothing serious. It was always the small ones that were an annoyance, not really painful but tender enough that he was aware of them. He cleaned the wounds but because they were so minor he didn’t bother to dress them. He stripped himself of his remaining clothing and went through the nightly ritual of face cleansing, teeth cleaning and whatnot. When completed, he donned a black silk robe with a replica of his Millennium eye embroidered in gold on the back of it and then entered his room again.
He strode to the wine cabinet holding the open bottle. With it in his hand he contemplated pouring himself another glass, he had after all just finished cleaning his teeth and it would be such a wasted effort to have a glass right now. But his nerves were absolutely shattered he wanted another. Shattered nerves won out over clean teeth and a new wineglass was retrieved and filled.
Deep in thought, he slowly made his way to the twin of the window he had vacated not ten minutes ago. Pegasus opened it and eased himself gracefully onto the ledge; he sat in the opposite direction that he had been sitting so that he would still have a clear view of a certain window across the courtyard. And even though he could not physically see Joey from this vantage point, he had an overprotective need to have his room in his sight and he wasn’t quite sure why. There was just something about that boy that brought out his protective nature.
There were all his upstanding personal attributes that he had already gone over in his mind and there was no denying that the boy was drop dead gorgeous. There he said it, Joey Wheeler was gorgeous. He Maximilian Pegasus was attracted to the gorgeous Joey Wheeler. There was one little problem with that, Joey was a he and he knew that he himself was straight. Or at least he thought he was. Pegasus had never given much thought to his sexuality, he was in love with Cecelia and that was it for him. He had never thought that he would ever find anyone else even remotely interesting again, never mind another man. But it seemed that Joseph meant something to him, he just didn’t know what. He didn’t know how he felt about that, not that it mattered because he wasn’t going to do anything about this attraction. Tomorrow the tournament would be over, he would have possession of the Millennium Puzzle and Joseph would go back to Domino City. And he could start the final phase of his plan to resurrect his wife, end of story. Then why did he feel so empty at the thought of the blond exiting his life as quickly as he entered it? He couldn’t answer that question.
Oh his head hurt. This was too much for him to process. Cecelia... Joseph... there was no comparison, she was the love of his life, and he was not. He was a beautiful creature, there was no doubt there but he lacked the sweetness and gentleness that she possessed. Pegasus didn’t even know why he was doing this, he wasn’t going to approach the young man and throw away 7 years of blood sweat and tears. Especially for some little street rat, no matter how beautiful said rat was or how infatuated he himself was. But more to the point, he knew that this infatuation was one sided and his feelings would not be returned. He was surprised to find that he was more than a little disappointed at that thought. He sat in his window and let these thoughts tumble about in his mind.
Without any consideration to what he was doing he used his eye to check on the object of his confusion. He had to know that Joseph was still safe and that the beast had not returned to harm him. He was quite relieved to find Joey sleeping peacefully. Not quite peacefully, he was in the throes of a dream that seemed to have him very agitated. The young beauty had kicked his blankets off and Pegasus feasted his eyes on the naked expanse of the blond's torso for the first time. He was sleeping in just his boxers and Pegasus was quite taken with the vision before him, even more so when the most sensual moan he had ever heard passed Joey‘s lips. It was then that he noticed the boys roaming hands and incredibly heavy breathing.
“Who are you dreaming of my sweet” he whispered as he delved into the depths of Joey’s dream world. He was disappointed when it wasn’t apparent who was pleasuring Joseph. Whoever it was, was completely cloaked in a hooded maroon crushed velvet cape obscuring even their face from view. The figure was so well hidden that Pegasus was unsure if it was male or female. But what he did see intrigued him. The boy was naked, spread wantonly on a bed of red satin covered in rose petals and surrounded by red candles. Through heavy lids he stared down at the one who was treating his throbbing erection as if it were a most delectable dessert. Whomever it was he was dreaming of, was giving the blond one hell of a blowjob.
Joey was writhing all over the mattress bucking his hips, straining to get his cock into the nonexistent mouth while he dreamt of his mystery lover teasing his length with their tongue. The vision of the panting, desperate blond along with the burning, throbbing desires emanating from him sent an intense fire straight to Pegasus’s groin. Unconsciously his own hand slipped into his robe, long tapered fingers wrapped around his own turgid flesh and he stoked himself as he opened himself to feel the erotic sensations flowing from Joseph. He leaned back against the stone wall, cheek pressed against the cooling masonry, his breathing shallow and heavy as he let Joey’s dream flood his mind. He imagined the mouth pleasuring Joseph also plying him with the same delightful tongue action. Could almost believe that it was Joseph’s mystery lover’s tantalizing tongue snaking around his enflamed penis instead of his own familiar hand. The orgasmic pleasure flowing from the blond mixed with his own burning need allowed Pegasus to peak at the same time as his desired one; he came with a low growl from the throat, Joey screamed his orgasm. And just as he came, his mind focused on the one that had brought them both to orgasm. Shedding its hood, the mystery lover lifted his head from the blond’s lap. With cum dribbling out of the corner of his mouth was none other than Maximilian Pegasus.
Joey’s eyes popped wide open “oh shit, not again,” he groaned as he sat up glaring down at his soiled boxers and ran his hands through his hair.
‘Not again? You mean this is not the first time? How did I miss that?’ The questions were fired off in Pegasus’s mind in quick succession. Then the bizarre notion struck him that in a round about way he had just given himself a blowjob. He chuckled to himself he was pretty good.
Joey stripped himself of his boxers and stomped across the bedroom to the attached bathroom, cleaning himself off with his shorts as he went, muttering to himself the whole time. “I can’t believe this, Pegasus of all people. Pegasus? Damn what the hell is wrong with me?”
“What is wrong with fantasizing about me, Joseph?” Pegasus questioned with bruised emotions, as he continued to watch the blond from his perch. He dug into the pocket of his robe for the fresh handkerchief that was put in daily and he wiped himself clean.
“The fact that he has Yugi’s grandpa and the Kaiba brothers held hostage...” that was reason enough for Joey, he didn’t need to think about it further. His attraction to Pegasus was wrong.
“So you have a problem with us being rivals?” He was mollified believing that Joseph’s objections weren’t personal, but were based on their rivalry. Pegasus wasn’t being willfully obtuse. In his myopic quest to bring Cecelia back, he honestly didn’t realize that in most circles his behavior was considered to be downright psychotic.
“But damn, I can’t get him out of my mind. Ever since I saw him on that videotape he’s taken over my thoughts” he stared into the mirror as he washed his boxers in the sink. It was really stupid to come for two nights and not bring a change of clothing. He was extremely grateful that he hadn’t had the same type of dream the previous night when he was sleeping near his friends and they could have discovered his nasty little obsession. It was probably the only night since he had laid eyes on Pegasus that he hadn’t had a dream about the crazy game creator. A few ended the way tonight’s had, but others had been delightful romantic dreams about the two of them. In them his lover was a shy, gentle soul, an attentive companion who lavished upon Joey sweet kisses that weren’t sexual in nature but conveyed an emotion deeper than lust. His words of love warmed Joey leaving him with a contented feeling that quickly dispersed upon waking when he realized that this man was just a figment of his imagination and would never be capable of such things in reality. They were dreams of a Pegasus who didn’t exist or who no longer did, though Joey didn’t know that that man had once been the true Maximilian Pegasus. Joey understood that these dreams were about his longing to be cherished by one special person alone, what he didn’t understand was Pegasus being the manifestation of that desire. He wrung out his shorts hoping to wring out his confusion along with the water and hung them to dry in the shower stall, then returned to the bedroom.
Joey walked to the window; knelt down, rested his elbows on the ledge and perched his chin in his hands. His window wasn’t nearly as ornate as the one Pegasus was still seated in. It was more institutional in design, with no fancy carvings or panes that opened to the night air. He gazed across the courtyard and noticed Pegasus sitting on his ledge staring up at the night sky. He thought it odd that the man would be staring at the castle when in other direction was a spectacular view of the sea, but then again this was Maximilian Pegasus, enough said.
The silver-headed man was aware of Joseph but it suited his purposes for the blond to think otherwise. ‘Oh Joseph, you have no idea that the view this way is much more spectacular than that boring old seascape, do you?’
Pegasus was bathed in moonlight; the silken curtain of silver hair shimmered in the pale light eclipsing the celestial entity of its brilliance. He sat with one leg propped up on the window ledge, the other hung down into his room. His robe was tied at the waist but parted and pooled on his seat exposing the whole side of his leg; it was bent in such a way as to keep his genitals well hidden.
“Oh shit, that’s not going to help me sleep at all.” Pegasus smirked into his wineglass as Joey continued. “Why does he have to be so bloody sexy and why do I have to notice? It’s not like he’d even be interested me.”
“You’d be surprised Joseph, just what I would be interested in” he answered in his mind while he ogled the naked beauty before him. He disregarded the crazy game creator and nasty obsession comments as ways for Joseph to ease his discomfort of being attracted to his rival. He could easily imagine holding the blond god in his arms and making love to him until the sun rose in the morning. He could also see himself being with Joseph in the way the boy had described they had been in his other dreams. He supposed that answered the question about his sexuality. He wouldn’t say he was gay because he got just as aroused fantasizing about Cecelia as he did about Joseph. He supposed he was bisexual. He had only ever been attracted to two people in his life, the first had been female and now the second was male; he didn’t have problem with that.
“Goodnight gorgeous” Joey said as he rose from the floor.
Pegasus looked down at Joey as if noticing him for the first time and tipped his glass in greeting. “Goodnight beautiful” he murmured into it as he sipped his wine.
Joey let out a surprised squeak and a deep crimson blush flooded his cheeks when Pegasus noticed him. He waved meekly at his silver haired wet dream, drew his curtains closed then jumped into his bed and buried himself under the covers. As soon as his head hit the pillow, the image of Pegasus sitting half naked in his window was alive in Technicolor in his mind. He started to feel life in a region of his anatomy that he shouldn’t have considering the dream he had just woken up from. He lifted the blanket from his chest and glared down at his nether regions. “Stop that” then he rolled onto his stomach and closed his eyes. He didn’t think he would get much more sleep but he had to try.
Pegasus slipped off the window ledge thinking about how adorable Joey really was, and then closed the window. He cast his robe aside and threw his dirty handkerchief into a wastepaper basket as he strode to the large canopy bed on the other side of the room. Well it seemed that Joseph was as enamored with him, as he was with the blond. He thought that now that he knew their feelings were mutual his way was clear to approach the younger man. He wasn’t aware that he treated the boy with a respect and concern that he did not show to anyone else. If Joey hadn’t shown an interest in him, he would not have forced himself on the blond. As it were he didn’t know if Joseph would accept his advances but he at least wanted to try.
But what about Cecelia, it was only at that moment that an overwhelming sense of guilt concerning his thoughts of Joseph penetrated his mind. How could he even think about the boy in such a way, especially when he was so close to resurrecting his darling? His gaze was drawn to the life-sized portrait above his bed. “Oh Cecelia I am so sorry, I would never be unfaithful to you.” But even as he was speaking the words, other thoughts were trying to take precedence in his mind. Such as, Cecelia was dead at the moment so it wouldn’t really be cheating. Also if he didn’t deal with his attraction to Joseph now, it could cause problems once he had his love back. Besides her resurrection would be like a second wedding and wasn’t the groom entitled to a bachelor party, one last fling as it were. But this was his Cecelia and he really was quite a gentleman, a quiet voice whispered in his head. Was he willing to subject her and their love to such a crass custom?
He was a master at stilling that quiet voice that was known to surface during moments of moral uncertainty. Over the years it had been squashed down repeatedly and recently hadn’t been heard from at all. But it was rising up tonight, reminding Pegasus of his devotion to his wife and questioning whether he should be so eager to sully their relationship just because he was lonely. He had labored endlessly and with the completion of his quest so close at hand, would one night with Joseph be worth the blot on their otherwise pristine union? They had only ever been with each other, and Pegasus had not taken a lover, even casually in all the time she had been gone. But he was lonely and though he hated to admit it even to himself, he was a little scared. The fear that he was loath to acknowledge that perhaps he would not be successful in his duel against Yugi, gnawed away at him little by little gradually eroding the solid confidence he had in himself.
He knew that in their first duel Yugi would have beaten him if the two-minute limit hadn’t been reached. If he were unsuccessful this time, all hope of regaining his Cecelia would be gone forever. The most crucial element of his plan was Yugi’s puzzle, without it he would not have the power to complete his quest. And if that were the end result, Pegasus was sure it would not be long before he withered away and died himself. He could not twice bear the agony of losing his love. It was this gnawing fear and severe loneliness that had him cultivating thoughts that normally would never have taken root. He successfully pushed back his conscience and with only a small pang of guilt decided to seduce Joseph and have one memorable day with him. Whether it was an interlude before he and Cecelia were reunited or his last fling would be determined at the end of his duel with Yugi. He knew his competitor would be Yugi. As talented as the others were, in the end they would be no match for the diminutive duelist and the spirit of the puzzle.
With much effort he brushed aside his feelings of melancholy and began plotting a scheme to get Joseph alone without raising his friends suspicions. The tournament would have to be put on hold, but as host that was his prerogative. He decided that he would hold the semi-finals in the morning as scheduled then break for lunch. It would be during that time that he would make his move on Joseph and hopefully the tournament would be postponed until the next morning.
His focus shifted to the portrait hanging above his bed, it would have to be taken down. He didn’t want his darling to be witness to his infidelity (he felt a twinge of guilt there) and he didn’t want Joseph feeling insecure about the woman hanging over his bed. He didn’t consider taking the seduction to another room, this was his bedroom, this was where he was most comfortable and he was bringing Joseph to his bed, he was not ashamed. Besides Cecelia had never been at Duelist Kingdom and had never slept in this bed. He would have it replaced before she ever laid in it.
With his decisions made, Pegasus crawled into bed and settled himself under heavy blankets. He hoped that Joseph would get a few more hours sleep as well. More than that, he wished that the blond were wrapped in his arms right now. He had a fierce desire to have his face buried in what he knew would be masculine scented but still downy soft golden tresses and to feel that strong back pressed up against his chest. He fell into the first fitful sleep he had had in ages with the image of a face in his head and a name on his lips. Not the one that had haunted his dreams every night for the past seven years, filling his being with a devastating sense of sadness and loss. It was the one whose existence held a promise of future joy and fulfillment. Joseph.
End chapter one.
Author’s note: Pegasus is very much out of character, but I am writing this more from how he sees himself than how the rest of world sees him. If in the show his motives had been to RULE THE WORLD, I would not be writing this story. But because he was trying to resurrect his lost love, I found something very twisted but yet romantic to sink my teeth into.
