Now that I have a break, I need rest!
Malik sat in the kitchen of Ryou’s house, where he and Marik stayed. He slowly sipped the tea in front of him, his body sore and barely able to lift the cup. He had finally gotten a shower, the night before had been long and brutal. Malik gave a sigh of content, he was glad to be home alone for once. Ryou had moved in with Seto at the mansion, and so now he was stuck here with two psycho yamis all alone. Ryou was the one that use to nurse him back to health, now he’d have to do it himself, which scared him, what if he wasn’t able and he just bleed to death? Would Marik and Bakura allow that? Malik looked up from his thoughts when he heard the front door’s knob turn, one of them was home. Malik’s heart started beating faster, his breath speeding up rapidly, fear nauseating his stomach, he knew who it was, it was Marik, and Bakura was not with him.
Marik came inside and closed the door, the setting sun’s rays only momentarily touching the walls of the house. Malik slowly stood and walked to the living room.
“Hi, Marik” Malik barely said above a whisper, his weak body trembling from trying to keep standing.
“Hi yourself” Marik grumbled, “I see you’re able to stand again” Marik teased, walking to the kitchen, Malik following slowly behind.
“Yes, I feel better today…where’s Bakura, wasn’t he with you?” Malik asked timidly.
“Yeah, he was…but I told him I needed some alone time with my hikari” Marik chuckled like he was Satan that had just found a way to take another soul.
“Oh?” Malik licked his lips nervously, he remembered the last time Marik wanted to spend ‘quality’ time together as yami and hikari. “And what did you have in mind?” Malik asked, almost throwing up because of his fear.
“Nothing special” Marik shrugged, drinking Pepsi.
“Ok…well, that’s sounds fine” Malik gave a small smile.
“I just thought we could have some real fun” Marik continued, throwing the Pepsi can away.
“Real fun, huh? Like what?” Malik dared to ask.
“Well, last time we were alone it was ok, but now, I think I can make things twice as interesting” Marik finally made eye contact with Malik, his eyes hungry for blood.
Malik could hear his heart’s rapid beating in his ears, he started backing out of the room, “More interesting?” he asked, he could taste the vomit in the back of his throat.
“Aren’t you excited, aibou?” Marik asked, walking towards Malik and pulling out a knife.
“No, please, Marik, I just got better…yami, please?” Malik had tears in his eyes and he started backing up quicker.
“Why are you running away from me? Malik, I just want to be with you” Marik laughed, his eyes wild.
Malik turned and ran to his room, if he made it he could lock the door, but his body was too weak, instead he fell, Marik catching him right away. Marik pulled Malik up off the floor by his hair and dragged him into his room, throwing him onto the bed, Malik’s head hitting the headboard. Marik then straddled Malik and ran a cold hand across his face.
“I love you, Malik, don’t run from me” Marik purred.
“And I love you, Marik” Malik said in defeat, tears falling down his face and stinging his skin.
Ryou reached his house, he knew he forgot something when he moved his things to Seto’s mansion.
“Now, where’s my key?” Ryou asked himself, searching his pockets, he then stopped to look at his left hand and the beautiful ring on his ring finger. //I still can’t believe he asked me to marry him// Ryou smiled to himself, remembering when Seto had taken him to a resort only certain celebrities and important people knew about and at night on the beach so they were alone and there was no pressure, had gotten down on one knee and pledged his love and asked Ryou to marry him. Ryou sighed at the memory and found his key, unlocking the door.
“Hello?” Ryou called, the early morning’s sun’s rays barely creeping in behind the closed curtains. “Bakura? Marik? Malik?” Ryou called, then he stopped when a familiar smell hit his nose…fresh blood. “Oh, God” Ryou ran upstairs to Malik’s room, gasping at what he saw, it was the worst he had ever seen his friend in.
Malik lay naked on the floor, his hands bound behind his back with chains that were cutting into his skin, blood all around him and a bloody knife not far away on the floor from where he lay. There were huge bruises all over his body and whip lashes on his chest and back, tearing the skin and Malik’s carving on his back appeared ripped apart. There was blood between his legs and coming out of his mouth and nose, his body producing sweat rapidly.
Ryou ran to Malik’s side and listened for the other boy’s breathing, it was barely there. Ryou felt his pulse which was slow and getting slower, he had lost a considerable amount of blood.
“Malik, can you hear me?” Ryou asked, picking Malik up carefully and laying him down on the bed, which had dried blood and cum all over it.
“Nnnnn” Malik moaned, his eyes opening to small slits, “Ryou?…” Malik breathed.
“Yes, I’m here, I’m going to take care of you. Did Marik and Bakura do this?” Ryou asked.
“Help me, Ryou” Malik cried, fresh tears coming to his eyes.
“Yes, that’s why I’m here, you’re going to get help” Ryou assured, “I’m going to take you to the hospital” Ryou wrapped a sheet around Malik and picked him up.
“No! They’ll take Marik away…and Bakura, they’ll take them away, please, Ryou…” Malik begged.
“But Malik, you need medical help that I can’t give you, and maybe Marik and Bakura should be taken away” Ryou said sternly.
“No, don’t let them take Marik, please?! I love Marik, I need him, Ryou” Malik cried.
“Well, I…” Ryou just couldn’t understand, “If you say so, but you’re not staying here, I’ll take you to Seto’s, maybe his private doctor can take care of you” Ryou reasoned, knowing his lover was not going to like the idea.
Ryou burst through the front doors of the mansion, thankful Seto was at work at the moment, and ran upstairs putting Malik in one of the spare rooms, the he ran to get the doctor.
Later that night, Seto came home and walked past the living room where Yugi and Mokuba were having a make out session on the couch, or watching a movie, however they explained it. Seto shuddered, he still didn’t like it, but he moved on. He found his fiancé in the sun room, reading a book on the garden love seat. Seto sat down next to Ryou and kissed his cheek.
“So, how was your day?” Ryou asked, not looking up from his book.
“Long, as usual, couldn’t wait to come home to you” Seto smiled, “how did your day go?”
“Well, I did go back and get the Cd’s I had forgotten” Ryou said.
“Good, do anything else?” Seto asked casually.
“Well…” Ryou put the book down and looked at Seto, “I brought Malik here.”
“Ok…why?” Seto asked, now listening more closely.
“He needed help and he didn’t want to be taken to the hospital because he was afraid that they’d take Marik and Bakura away, like to jail or whatever, and so I took him here so your personal doctor could take care of him” Ryou said all in one breath.
“Ok…” Seto scratched his neck, “No one saw you bring him here, did they?”
“What do you mean? I don’t think so, but is that all you’re concerned about? Malik almost died, Seto!” Ryou felt himself become angry.
“Ok, well I’m screwed if some stupid news reporter sees some kid bring a dead-looking kid into my house!” Seto stood, his temper getting the best of him.
Ryou stood as well, “Well excuse me for caring about a friend! Something you don’t have much of, now do you?!”
“I care if Malik dies, I’m glad you were thinking of your friend, ok? All I’m saying is you should think about being more careful, I don’t mind that you brought him here, I was just making sure my ass was ok, is that alright?! Fucking God damn it, Ryou, you’re so fucking sensitive!” Seto yelled, walking out of the room, upstairs, and to his room and slamming the door.
Ryou ran to the bottom of the stairs, “Well at least I don’t act like a spoiled child who just runs away from a fight!” Ryou called.
“GO TO HELL!” Seto yelled from his room.
“I’M IN HELL!” Ryou yelled back.
“THEN LEAVE!” Seto screamed, re-slamming his door.
Ryou didn’t say anything after that and instead felt tears come to his hazel eyes, that one really hurt. Yugi and Mokuba walked out of the living room and saw Ryou just staring up the stairs, tears gracefully falling down his soft cheeks.
“Ryou, are you ok? Seto didn’t hit you, did he?” Yugi asked.
“My brother wouldn’t do that” Mokuba defended his sibling.
“No, he didn’t hit me” Ryou sighed, “He just hurt my feelings, I’ll get over it” Ryou wiped his own tears.
“He’ll cool down in an hour or so, then you can talk to him” Mokuba smiled.
“What’s the point? We’ve only been together for a month and we’ve fought about a million times, and we’re engaged, we’re all kinds of screwed up, I don’t know if this is going to work” Ryou sighed, looking at the diamond on his finger.
“You can’t just give up” Yugi took Ryou’s left hand, “You can’t just give up, you love him, I can tell, and he loves you” Yugi smiled.
“You sound like Yami” Ryou chuckled.
“We are an awful lot alike” Yugi laughed, “which reminds me, I need to be getting home” Yugi looked at Mokuba.
“I’ll walk ya’ to the door” Mokuba took Yugi’s hand.
“Night, Ryou” Yugi smiled and walked with his lover.
“Night” Ryou went upstairs to a separate room.
Yugi and Mokuba stood outside the front gate, arms around each other.
“They do fight a lot” Mokuba said with a sigh.
“I think they’ll be ok” Yugi assured.
“I hope so, Seto’s smiled a lot more since he met Ryou” Mokuba smiled at the moments when his brother was happy.
“I love it when you smile” Yugi whispered.
“Cause I’m just that cute, huh?” Mokuba joked.
“Yes, you are” Yugi smiled, touching his lips to Mokuba’s.
Mokuba immediately deepened the kiss, savoring the taste of the older boy, “I love you” Mokuba whispered after the kiss was broken.
“I love you, too” Yugi smiled at his young lover, and turned to leave for home.
“No…Marik, please…don’t hurt me…Marik…someone…help” Malik mumbled in his sleep, the borrowed pajamas from Ryou soaked in sweat. “Don’t kill me…Marik…I love you…wait…” Malik had tears flowing like rivers down his face. “No…NO…AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” Malik screamed in terror.
Ryou, Seto, and Mokuba ran to the hikari’s room, seeing Malik holding his stomach as if in pain and his whole body shaking violently. Ryou ran to his side and shook his shoulders.
“Malik, wake up, it’s me, Ryou” Ryou called.
“Marik…save me” Malik whispered.
“Seto, help me, he’s having a nightmare!” Ryou commanded, tears in his eyes.
Seto walked over to Malik and ran a gentle hand through the Egyptian’s hair, then placed the palm of his hand on Malik’s forehead and closed his eyes for a moment. Malik slowly opened his eyes and looked at Ryou.
“Where…am I?” Malik asked, his throat scratchy and dry.
Seto removed his hand and opened his eyes, then seeing that the other boy would be ok, he left the room, telling Mokuba to go back to bed. Mokuba reluctantly did as told.
“You’re at Seto’s mansion, I brung you here, remember?” Ryou smiled.
“Yes…Could you get me some water?” Malik asked, sitting up wincing in pain; his body still ached.
“…of course” Ryou nodded and went to the bathroom, then came back with a small crystal cup filled with water.
Malik took the glass, his hand shaking, “Thank you” he nodded.
“What were you dreaming?” Ryou asked.
“I don’t want to talk about it…just, could you stay until I go back to sleep?” Malik asked.
“Sure, but if you do want to talk, I’m here, Malik” Ryou smiled.
“I know, and I thank you for that” Malik sighed, finishing the water and laying back down, falling asleep almost immediately.
Ryou bent down and kissed Malik’s forehead, “Pleasant dreams, my friend” Ryou whispered, then walked out of the room, leaving the door open just a crack. He then proceeded to his lover’s room, and opened the door silently, finding Seto standing on his balcony, looking up at the stars.
“Mind if I come in?” Ryou asked, coming in anyway and closing the door.
“No” Seto said quietly.
Ryou walked up beside Seto, putting his arms around the other boy’s waist and laying his head on Seto’s chest.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to start a fight with you earlier” Ryou apologized.
Seto put his arms around Ryou, “It was my fault, you were right…I was being uncaring, I really am glad you brought him here and got him some help” Seto admitted.
“Seto?” Ryou looked up into Seto’s sapphire eyes.
“Yeah?” Seto looked down at Ryou.
“When I asked you to help me wake Malik up, and you…what did you do?” Ryou asked.
Seto sighed, “I’m not sure…I placed my hand where his Third Eye would be and imagined peace for him, somehow knowing he’d wake up” Seto shrugged.
“Perhaps it was something you knew about in the past?” Ryou suggested to Seto’s past life as High Priest in ancient Egypt.
“I still think that’s nonsense” Seto scoffed.
“Even after all that’s happened?” Ryou didn’t seem convinced.
“I don’t like to think about it, how’s that?” Seto said finally.
“Fine” Ryou kissed Seto softly.

Yugi made it home, finding Yami sitting in front of the TV almost hypnotized.
“Hey, Yami, whatchya’ watching?” Yugi smiled, plopping down next to Yami.
“Nothing…” Yami said casually, flipping the channels with the remote so fast you couldn’t really see what was on the channel. “Have a good date with Mokuba?” Yami asked, still glued to the TV.
Yugi raised an eyebrow at his Yami before answering, “Yeah, though, Kaiba and Ryou got into another fight while I was there, something about…Well, Kaiba was mad that Ryou brought Malik there because Malik was all messed up from Marik and he thought someone like a news reporter would see and he’d end up in some kind of mess and Ryou thought he was being insensitive, which he was, and Kaiba thought Ryou was being too sensitive” Yugi explained.
“Right…wait, Ryou had to bring Malik there because of Marik?” Yami asked, finally looking at his hikari.
“Yeah, he was really messed up, like really deep cuts everywhere, and huge, black and purple bruises, and chain and rope cuts and burns, and whip lashes, and he was all sweaty and heaving, and dehydrated” Yugi described.
“That’s just sick” Yami said angrily.
“Malik doesn’t think so, he was talking about how he wanted to go back to Marik and Bakura and that he needed and loved Marik” Yugi shook his head, “He’s crazy, all three of them.”
“I don’t think Malik’s crazy, just in a lot of pain, physically and emotionally” Yami turned the TV off, “By the way, Duke called for you, he wants you to come over.”
“Tonight? Kinda late” Yugi looked at the clock, it was almost midnight.
“He said tonight if you got the chance, but you know him, midnights’ ‘when the party begins, not ends’, to him” Yami quoted, walking upstairs.
“Where you going? To bed?” Yugi asked.
“Yeah, you know, being old and all, I need my rest” Yami joked.
“Right, well, I’m not really tired, I suppose I’ll see what Duke wants” Yugi shrugged and headed out the door.
*
Yugi found Duke’s shop and knocked on the door.
“Hey, Yug, come on it” Duke smiled, leading Yugi upstairs to the house part of the building. “Have a seat” Duke smiled, nodding towards the red leather couch with dice pillows at either end.
“Thanks” Yugi sat down.
“Want something to drink?” Duke asked, sitting down next to Yugi.
“No, I’m fine…so, how are you and Joey?” Yugi asked.
“Fine, I’m surprised we’ve been together this long” Duke said.
“It’s been a month and you two broke up twice in the same week” Yugi reminded.
“We got back together, didn’t we?” Duke crossed his arms.
“Ok, well, what did you want to see me for?” Yugi asked.
“I’ll just get to the point, Yug, you are my friend so I thought I’d let you in on a little something, everyone’s talking about you behind your back and you being with Mokuba” Duke said bluntly.
“Are you sure?” Yugi tried to hide his pain.
“Yes, they all think that for one you’re a cradle robber, he’s only thirteen, you’re almost seventeen. Sure it’s only four years, and that’s ok if he’s like 20 and you’re 24, but it’s different like this” Duke explained.
“Mokuba’s very mature for his age” Yugi defended, “So that was ‘one’, what’s ‘two’?”
“Second of all, they think you’re afraid to grow up” Duke shrugged.
“Afraid to grow up?! I help an ancient spirit save the world and I’m afraid to grow up?! I’d like to see any of you do what I did, what I’ve been through! Plus, Mokuba and I aren’t in some childish dating experience, we’re in a real relationship!” Yugi couldn’t help but lose his temper.
“I’ll admit, you’re brave, strong spirited, and know how to have sex with a kid, and I know you know responsibility, but that doesn’t mean anything” Duke explained.
“How does that not mean anything, just because I don’t always act like an adult? News flash, I’m not one yet, none of us are, and I don’t see you or anyone else always acting like an adult” Yugi argued, his face turning red from anger.
“You’re right, but we’re letting ourselves grow. We’re thinking about college, careers, starting families, setting our lives. We’re understanding the responsibilities of adulthood” Duke continued.
“Look, I’m not afraid to grow up, I don’t know where you all got these ideas and I really don’t know who you people think you are talking behind my back after all I’ve done for all of you, we’re all suppose to be best friends, but I suppose adults stab each other in the backs, don’t they?” Yugi stood to leave.
“Yugi, wait, the reason they haven’t said anything is because they didn’t know how to tell you without being blunt, I don’t mind being blunt so I decided to let you know. I thought I was being a friend by saying something” Duke reasoned.
Yugi turned and looked at the other boy’s emerald eyes, “Thank you…I’m…just gonna leave now” Yugi said quietly, leaving the shop.
Yami knocked on the door to the huge mansion, the butler answering.
“Yes?” the butler asked.
“I’m here to see Ryou?” Yami asked.
“Oh, Yami, hi, come on in!” Ryou came up behind the butler.
“Thanks” Yami said, coming in, the butler closing the door behind them and walking away.
“So, how is he?” Yami asked.
“Better, physically, anyway. He always has nightmares or babbles on about something” Ryou sighed.
“Could I see him?” Yami asked.
“Of course, he’s up here” Ryou smiled, leading the way up the stairs to the room Malik was in. Ryou opened the door, the two of them finding Malik sitting on the bed, hugging his knees with his face buried.
“I’d like to talk to him alone, is that ok?” Yami asked.
“Sure” Ryou nodded, leaving the room with the door cracked.
Yami sat down on the bed, “Hey, Malik” Yami said softly.
Malik lifted his head, eyes blood shot and tired, “What are you doing here?” Malik asked quietly.
“I came to see how a friend was doing” Yami smiled.
Malik looked at Yami for a moment, “I want to go back home, I know Marik misses me.”
“It’s only been a couple of days, perhaps you should rest a bit longer before going back” Yami suggested.
“No! I need to go back, please tell Ryou to let me go back” Malik had tears in his eyes.
Yami scooted over so that he sat right beside Malik and ran a hand gently through Malik’s sand blonde hair, “Why do you want to go back so much? Didn’t Marik hurt you?” Yami asked patiently.
Malik continued to look straight forward, “Not as much as I hurt him” Malik whispered.
“How did you hurt him?” Yami asked, confused.
“How cannot you not understand? No one does…look at what I did to him, he’s made of pain, hate, sorrow, and anger, that’s all he knows, and it’s because of me! I shouldn’t have left all my pain to him, that’s why he’s so crazy at times. I’m grateful for what he does to me, he punishes me for all I have done, for all that I’ve killed. And as long as he has me, he won’t do this to anyone else. And neither will Bakura, as long as Bakura had me, he left Ryou alone. I deserve what he does to me as well…” Malik buried his face again, crying softly.
Yami stared with tears in his eyes, the only reason Malik does this is out of his guilt? “Malik, I think more than paid for what you’ve done, you can’t…you won’t live much longer if this keeps up. We can get Marik some help, you could stay with Yugi and I if you wanted, or I’m sure you could stay here” Yami wanted to hug and comfort Malik so badly, but wasn’t sure if it’d be welcome.
“No, I need to stay with Marik…” Malik looked up and at Yami, “thanks for listening” Malik sniffed.
“We’re friends, remember?” Yami gave in and hugged Malik closely.
Malik wrapped his arms around Yami, hugging him back tightly and just cried into Yami’s chest. Yami let Malik cry, he ‘d hold Malik all night if he had to.
*
Bakura walked into his house to find Marik sitting on the couch cutting himself on the arms.
Bakura raised an eyebrow, “Having fun?” he asked sarcastically.
“Where’s Malik?” Marik asked, ignoring Bakura’s comment.
Bakura sat down next to Marik, “Ryou took him to Seto’s house for medical treatment, he’ll be back” Bakura shrugged.
“When? When will he be back? Why did he leave?” Marik asked, starring at his arms, tears in his eyes.
Bakura had finally had it, “What’s wrong with you? You’ve been acting very strange, even for you, you sure you’re alright?” Bakura asked, real concern in his eyes.
Marik suddenly got angry, stabbing the coffee table with the knife he was using, he then turned and grabbed Bakura’s collar and glared at him, hate in his lavender eyes, “Yes, I’m fine! How dare you suggest otherwise!” Marik growled.
Bakura got angry back and pushed Marik off him, “How dare you threaten me like that! My bad for being concerned about you…just fuck off, then” Bakura started to walk away.
Marik grabbed the knife from the table and ran up behind Bakura, grabbing hold of the other spirit’s hair and holding the knife dangerously close to Bakura’s neck, “I’ll threaten you if I want to!” Marik yelled.
Bakura quickly grabbed Marik’s arm that was around his neck and flipped Marik over his back, the fellow Egyptian landing hard on the floor. Bakura than turned to run but Marik grabbed his foot, causing him to fall to the floor as well. Marik quickly moved and straddled Bakura, his right hand striking Bakura’s throat like a snake, his hand squeezing so that no air could pass through Bakura’s throat. Bakura clawed at Marik’s cut arm, but Marik didn’t even wince.
“Why did you let them take Malik away?!” Marik yelled, tears once again in his eyes.
“Well…maybe if you…didn’t try to…kill him…the wouldn’t…have…” Bakura choked.
“Aaaahhh!” Marik yelled as he punched Bakura in the face, busting Bakura’s lip, he then punched him again, then shook him violently, “Bring him back!” Marik demanded.
Bakura had tears in his eyes but he refused to let them fall, “And if I don’t?” Bakura challenged, the blood from his lip seeping into his mouth.
Marik tightened his grip around Bakura’s neck, “Then I’ll kill you right now”
Bakura’s body convulsed and squirmed, trying to breath, “O…K…” Bakura managed.
Marik let go of Bakura’s neck, Bakura coughing intensely, trying to catch his breath. Marik didn’t bother to get up off of Bakura and sat there, watching him cough. After a moment, Bakura just lay there, slowly taking and releasing breaths. Marik then leaned down and kissed Bakura’s cheek, tracing his finger tips along Bakura’s lips.
“I didn’t want to do that, you know” Marik said softly.
“No, of course not” Bakura said, tears stinging his eyes, so this is what it felt like.
Marik looked at Bakura, “Kiss me” he whispered.
Bakura wanted to kill hm, not kiss him, but instead he gave a small smirk, and pulled Marik’s head down, kissing him passionately, Marik moaning in his mouth.
Late that night, Bakura got out of the shower, hardly able to move, Marik had fucked him to no end, how did Malik stand this? Bakura sighed and opened the medicine cabinet for some pain reliever when he noticed Marik’s medicine.
“Wait a minute” Bakura grabbed the orange bottle, “This was refilled three months ago and it’s still full. Shit, I should have noticed that he hasn’t gone to get it refilled. He hasn’t been taking it for three months…” Bakura’s eyes grew wide and his heart raced, suddenly afraid. “I’m surprised he didn’t kill me” Bakura whispered.
Bakura walked out of the bathroom and into his and Marik’s room, seeing his lover sleeping already. Bakura watched as the other spirit tossed and turned, sweat drenched his body, his arms that he had cut earlier not even covered, getting smears of blood on the sheets. Bakura silently put some boxers on and crawled into bed next to Marik. He moved close to Marik and petted his wet hair, Marik continuing to whimper and make these strange, awful noises as if dieing.
“Shhhhh…I’m here for you” Bakura whispered.
That morning Yami awoke to find himself in a huge room and still holding onto Malik as the other Egyptian slept. //I was here all night? Yugi’s going to be worried// Yami thought, but he didn’t want to move in fear of waking Malik, he needed his rest. A moment later Ryou walked into the room.
“Yami? You’re still here?” Ryou asked.
“Yeah, I didn’t realize I had fallen asleep” Yami said softly.
“Well, Yugi’s here, wondering if you were, he’s downstairs with Mokuba…Bakura’s also here, he wants to see Malik” Ryou informed, his yami walking in the room.
Yami couldn’t help but give a small gasp at what he saw. Bakura, the great tomb robber, was walking with a slight limp and had two black eyes and a busted lip.
“Bakura, what happened?” Yami asked.
Bakura sat on the other side of Malik, causing the boy to wake up. Malik slowly opened his eyes and looked up at Bakura.
“Bakura? What happened?” Malik said in a low voice, still very tired.
Bakura couldn’t help but have tears in his eyes, but like always, they would never fall, “Marik got a little rough” Bakura smiled like he always does. “Look, Malik, I didn’t want this to happen to you, this shouldn’t have happened to you, but I know why it did. Marik hasn’t been taking his medication for three months, you’re lucky you’re alive” Bakura explained. “He also sent me to take you back, or he would have killed me” Bakura sighed heavily.
“He can’t go back, not like this and with Marik homicidal, that’s crazy” Yami protested.
“No, I want to go back, it’s ok” Malik said, sitting up slowly, wincing at the pain.
“Yami, listen to me, if I bring Malik back he’ll calm down just a little and maybe I can reason with him to take at least one pill, believe me, it’ll make a difference, then perhaps he’ll go to the hospital” Bakura spoke quickly.
Yami starred at Bakura, “You really love him, don’t you?”
“I love no one, Yami” Bakura said coldly.
“Well I can’t stop the two of you from leaving” Yami said in defeat.
“Thanks” Bakura said, then looked at Malik, “Come on, let’s go back.”
“Ok” Malik nodded weakly.
Bakura helped Malik out of the bed and helped him walk all the way to his car, then drove off. Yami walked downstairs and to the living room where Mokuba and Yugi were and sat down next to Yugi on the couch, slouching.
“Why did you let Bakura take Malik?” Yugi asked.
“I can’t force him to do something…I feel like I just sent him to his death” Yami said in despair.
“Are you giving up?” Seto asked Yami walking into the room.
“No” Yami said hotly, sometimes he just could not stand that guy.
“Really? Seems like it to me” Seto shrugged, sitting in a Lazy-Boy chair.
“Shut up, ok?” Yami snapped, “I already feel bad enough as it is.”
“Then do something about it” Seto said, crossing his arms.
Yami didn’t say anything back, he didn’t feel like playing any of the billionaire’s games. He was confused as it was anyway. He had originally had just come over to see Malik because he was trying to be his friend, but for some reason he just did not want Malik to go, and not only because Malik had the chance of getting hurt again, but for some other reason, he wasn’t sure what.
Bakura arrived back at the house and helped walk Malik inside. He looked around for Marik, and he didn’t appear to be in sight.
“He doesn’t seem to be here now. You must be hungry” Bakura helped Malik to the kitchen and sat him down at the dinning table. “You’re stomach probably can’t take much right now, so…how’s some soup sound?” Bakura asked, looking in the cabinets.
“Fine” Malik said quietly.
Bakura opened a can of chicken noodle and warmed it up in the microwave, the placed it front of Malik with a glass of water, then sat across from Malik at the table. Malik slowly began to eat the soup.
“Bakura, why are you being so nice to me? You didn’t use to” Malik asked, wondering if he’d get smacked for talking when he wasn’t spoken to.
“Perhaps I have pity on you” Bakura said dryly. “Don’t look so frightened, if I can get him to take a pill it’ll be ok” Bakura assured.
Malik continued to eat, noticing Bakura lightly touch one of his black eyes, wincing a bit. //Marik really hurt him, not only physically, but emotionally…perhaps that’s why he’s being so nice// Malik thought.
Suddenly the front door swung open and Marik marched right into the kitchen. Bakura stood to great Marik, but before he could open his mouth Marik punched him in the jaw, sending him crashing to the floor, then Marik looked at Malik.
“He..hello, Marik” Malik stuttered, slowly standing.
Marik glared at Bakura slowly rising to his feet, rubbing jaw, then he looked at Malik, “Why’d you leave, Malik. You don’t love me anymore? You’d rather be with Ryou, or perhaps the Pharaoh?” Marik said, walking towards Malik.
Malik backed up into the counter behind him, “I…I didn’t want to, Marik, of course I’d rather be with you” Malik assured.
“Then why are you backing up, like I’m some monster? I’M NOT!” Marik screamed.
“I…know that, Marik” Malik smiled nervously, his lips quivering. Malik began to walk towards Marik, his body tensed.
Bakura got off the floor, “Marik, why don’t we let Malik rest a bit longer, he’s still kind of weak” Bakura suggested.
Marik grabbed Malik by the wrist when he was close enough, then looked at Bakura, “He’s rested for two days…if he’s that weak, he doesn’t deserve to live” Marik smiled, “Don’t you agree, Bakura?” Marik asked.
“Of course” Bakura nodded with his evil smirk as always, he thought it best to play along.
Marik turned and smiled at Malik, “I thought you’d see it my way. Come with me, hikari, I’ve missed you” Marik said, running a rough hand across Malik’s cheek.
Marik smiled at Malik’s fear and drug him upstairs, throwing him on the floor. He then pulled out a dagger and licked it from bottom up.
“Better have fun, hikari, it’s you last chance to” Marik laughed.
Bakura stood downstairs as Malik’s screams began to fill the house. He felt nauseous, how did he ever think it was funny? //These screams are different, they’re of real pain and hurt with no pleasure at all// Bakura realized. //I need help, as much as I hate to admit it// Bakura sighed, running out the door to get Yami. //Yami is the strongest, he should be able to stop Marik// Bakura thought, running down the street, he just hoped Malik wouldn’t be dead by time he got back.
Finally Bakura reached the Game Shop, busting through the doors just as someone was about to walk out.
“Bakura?!” Yami scolded.
“Yami, I need your help. You were…right…I need you to help me with Marik” Bakura said, his pride almost making him choke on his words.
“Let’s go” Yami nodded, both running back to Ryou’s house as quickly as they could.
Marik smiled as tears came to Malik’s eyes, his body shaking. Marik slowly began to walk towards him, his knife ready, his eyes blurred by lust and the need for blood.
“Relax, it’s over, you belong to me, you can never leave” Marik kneeled down next to Malik, running the blade across his cheek and down his neck. “I find you fascinating…” he whispered. Malik had the look of horror in his eyes. “I will never…I can’t stop” Marik continued. “You’ve left me…but I haven’t left you…yet” Marik smiled suddenly.
“What? Marik, you’re not making sense” Malik cried, tears running down his eyes.
Suddenly anger filled Marik’s eyes. He picked Malik up and began beating him, blood splattering on everything.
“Hurry, Yami” Bakura yelled, he did not have a good feeling.
“I’m trying, you’re legs are longer” Yami panted, doing his best to keep up.
Marik had thrown Malik onto the bed, and began to choke him, yelling directly into his face.
“YOU ARE MINE! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MINE! I CAN TEAR YOU APART! I CAN RECOMBINE YOU! ALL I WANT IS TO COVET YOU ALL! YOU BELONG TO ME, I WILL KILL YOU TO LOVE YOU!” Marik screamed.
(A/N: What Marik as been saying are most of the lyrics from Slipknot’s CD Iowa..the song Iowa, the inspiration for this sequel)
Malik sobbed, Marik was going to kill him just like in his dream!
Bakura and Yami finally made it back to the house. They ran upstairs, hearing Malik screaming. Bakura stopped right before they opened the door.
“Don’t let Marik know you’re here just yet, alright? Let me try to talk to him, first” Bakura whispered.
“Fine” Yami nodded, thinking Bakura knew how to handle this better.
Bakura opened the door to find that Marik had just gotten off the bed and zipped his pants back up. Malik was on his knees on the bed, his hands bound behind his back. He leaned over the side, throwing up. Bakura’s eyes grew wide as he seen what exactly Malik throwing up.
Marik turned around, “Ah, Bakura, care to join me?” he asked.
Bakura smiled evilly, “Perhaps I shall” he said, slowly moving towards Marik.
Malik fell over the side of the bed, falling into his vomit. He panted, blood covering his entire shaking body.
Bakura licked his lips, “Maybe if you take one of these I’ll join ya, if you really want me to” Bakura said, holding out the bottle of pills.
Marik narrowed his eyes, he smacked the bottle out of Bakura’s hand and then pulled Bakura to him by the wrist, stabbing his knife deep into Bakura’s abdomen. Bakura’s eyes grew wide, pain shooting through his body. He made gagging noises as blood came out of his mouth. Marik smiled and yanked the knife out of Bakura’s body, kicking him to the floor.
Yami then ran into the room, “Bakura!” he said, his eyes horrified at the blood flowing from the other spirit’s body, the then looked at Marik.
Marik grabbed Malik off the floor and shoved him against a wall, his bloody knife pressed against his throat, “I hate you, Malik!” Marik yelled. “I hate you! You did this to me! You made me this way!” Marik yelled, tears actually falling from his eyes.
Malik was barely able to look at Marik, his eyes glazed over, “I’m…sorry, Marik…please…kill me…I…deserve it” he managed in a whisper.
Marik’s body shook and he dropped the knife and let go of Malik, bringing his hands to his head as he started to back away into a corner of the room.
“This is what I’m made of. I’m tired of taking pills just to make me…different…I hate them! I hate this! Always hate…always anger…it always hurts! Ra…kill me!” Marik cried, his eyes becoming large as he looked at the floor searching for the knife he just had.
Yami went to Malik, holding him in his arms and taking the knife.
“Malik? Can you hear me?” Yami asked the Egyptian.
“Yami…” Malik said quietly, blooding coming from his mouth as his eyes rolled to the back of his head. Yami quickly felt to see if he still had a pulse; it was very faint.
Bakura held his stomach and crawled over to Marik, putting both his arms around the other yami. Marik laid his head against Bakura’s chest, crying.
“Make it stop! Make it stop…stop…” Marik cried, eventually passing out.
Bakura looked over at Yami, his eye lids becoming heavy, “Is he alive?” he asked.
“Barely” Yami said, looking back at Malik.
Yami and Marik stood before two tomb stones holding each other’s hands.
“It shouldn’t have happened” Marik said as the autumn wind blew against their backs.
“It did, it’s not really your fault, you weren’t yourself” Yami said soothingly to his lover.
“You know I’ll always blame myself” Marik said seriously.
“I’m sure they forgive you. Besides, they’re fine, happy now in the afterlife” Yami tried to be positive. “You have to let go, Ryou did with Bakura. It was brave of him to go through with the wedding with Seto just a month afterwards. You need to let go of Bakura as well, and Malik” Yami hugged Marik.
“I think it’s just going to take longer for me” Marik sighed, hugging Yami back.
“Well I’ll always be here for you” Yami gave a small smile. “Let’s go back now, Yugi and Mokuba’s wedding starts soon” Yami took hold of Marik’s hand.
Marik nodded and walked back with Yami, looking over his shoulder at the two angel statues holding a book open, one read ‘Malik Ishtar’, the other ‘Yami Bakura’. Even though Bakura’s body disappeared, they decided to bury the Millennium Ring, finding his spirit had finally moved on.
“We’ll see them again” Yami squeezed Marik’s hand as they approached the church.

SecretSoul: Basically, Bakura died from Marik’s stab wound and Malik died from the abuse. Short as hell but who cares.
