Chapter 1:
“Worthless…” *Smack*
“Weakling…” *A cry of pain*
“You’ll never amount to anything…” *slam*
Ryou laid down on his bed, tears pooling in the corner of his eyes. His beaten and battered body protesting the movements. His yami had decided to teach his former yadonoushi a lesson earlier in the evening, and now the walls down in the front entrance hallway glistened with his blood. Ryou felt a single tear slide down his pale cheeks as he continued to play what his yami said as he beat him through his head.
“Weakling…worthless…you’re nothing…a nobody…just a shadow…”
Ryou groaned softly as he turned onto his side. He closed his eyes remembering when it first began…
* A Few Weeks Prior *
Ryou sat in the classroom praying for the final bell to ring. He was nursing a headache from another one of his yami’s nights out. Bakura had taken over Ryou’s body the night before to go out with Malik to the local nightclub. By the time Ryou was given his body back it was a few hours before classes were to begin. When Ryou awoke to his alarm, he found that he e had a hangover thanks to Bakura’s drinking.
Yugi saw his friend and hurried to his desk, sitting on it.
“Hey Ryou-kun, do you think you’ll be able to meet me at the game shop after school?” Yugi asked the white-haired hikari.
“I should be able to. He’s passed out in his soul room from last night’s activities,” Ryou responded.
“Good cause I think you’ll like what I have planned,” he said, but before Ryou could question him further the teacher walked in and Yugi scampered back to his desk.
Ryou sat through the class in a daze, watching the clock to finally hit 3 pm. Soon the final bell chimed releasing the student’s from school for the next few weeks for on holiday. Ryou trudged towards his locker, sighing as he deposited his books into his locker and then switched out his shoes. He heard his yami stirring in his mind and decided if he was to visit Yugi, he had better hurry. The white-haired teen sprinted to his friend’s house, bursting through the game shop door and startling Mr. Mutou. The old man looked up and offered Ryou a smile and a chuckle.
“Ah Bakura-kun, I’m guessing your looking for Yugi. He’s in the back,” he said to the teen.
“Arigato Mutou-san,” Ryou said with a bow before moving into the back residence, “Yugi-kun?”
“In my room,” Yugi’s voice drifted down to Ryou.
Ryou moved up the stairs and into Yugi’s room, opening the door. Yugi sat in the middle of the floor surrounded by candles, a large book propped in front of him. He smiled and gestured for Ryou to join him in the center of the room Ryou shrugged before taking the invitation. “Yugi-kun, what is all this?” Ryou asked the tri-haired teen.
Yugi giggled for a moment before answering, “This is a second chance at life,” he said, “I found this book in jii-chan’s stuff and began reading it and found a way to grant flesh to a spirit.”
Ryou looked at him shocked, “You’re kidding right? You mean give our yami’s their own bodies?”
“Exactly,” he said with a smile.
Yugi opened the book and began chanting the spell, the candles flickering gently as he did so. Ryou listened to the words, trying to figure out what they meant. As his attention was on Yugi’s soft voice, he let out a startled gasp as the Millennium Ring suddenly grew hot. The teen watched as Yugi’s puzzle also began glowing. The tri-haired teen didn’t notice what was beginning to occur as he was in a trance. The two items began glowing with such a fierce intensity that Ryou had to shield his eyes from the light.
Soon it seemed as if time stopped as two glowing orbs appeared from the two items. Yugi’s soft voice carried on the chant as the orbs began changing into two human shaped forms. Ryou watched in shock as Yugi’s yami began to take form. The former pharaoh became just a bit tanner than his counterpart, the same gravity defying hair taking form with lighting bolt bangs into it, and height a few inches taller than Yugi. Ryou saw his own yami begin to take shape and form as well.
The former tomb thief’s hair became cut just at his shoulders, a slightly darker skin tone appearing, and a scar on his face. He was now taller than Ryou by a few inches as well. Yugi’s voice finished the final line of the chant and the glow surrounding the pair of spirits vanished, leaving them clothed in the same garments as their hikari’s.
Yugi opened his eyes and stared at the two yami’s lying on the floor. Ryou barely took a breath, afraid that if he did he would wake-up to find it all a dream. Yugi dropped the book in surprise, the thick book landing on the floor with a deep resounding thump as it hit the carpet.
“Ryou-kun…it-it worked. It actually worked,” he cheered out loudly.
Ryou smiled at Yugi and then hugged him, “This is wonderful. I can’t believe it…”
There was a small groan as the two yami’s began to wake up. Yami was the first to wake and gave off a sudden shout when he saw Bakura lying near him. He had yet to notice that his hikari and that of Bakura were sitting just a few feet away. Bakura woke up at Yami’s shout and glared at the pharaoh.
“What the big idea, Pharaoh,” he demanded, then tried to figure out why he was at the pharaoh’s in the first place.
Yami didn’t bother to answer as he looked up and saw his hikari smiling down at him. Bakura scowled at the other yami and then saw his hikari watching him warily. The two hikari’s waited to see what would happen next. Yami pulled Yugi into a hug while smirking. Bakura just glared at Ryou, causing the pale teen to flinch a bit.
“Aibou what is going on? How did this happen?” Yami asked Yugi, “Is this for real, or are we dreaming?”
“It’s real. I found a book that was able to grant flesh to spirits,” Yugi said smiling.
Bakura just glared at the trio before getting up. He moved towards the door with a dark chuckle. The tomb robber left the game shop to begin to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting city. Ryou stood as well knowing that Bakura would eventually find his way to the house.
“Ryou-kun will you be okay?” Yami asked him, “You are more than welcomed to stay here if you want to.”
Ryou waved it off with a smile, “I’ll be fine Yami-sama, honest.”
Yugi watched as his friend left the room and then the shop. Ryou sighed as he left the game shop. He decided to start making his way home before Bakura blew something up. The white-haired teen did not know what to make of his yami being free in this way. He entered the cold, empty house and moved into the living room.
~Oi gaki make sure to have dinner ready when I get home…~ Bakura sent Ryou through the still existent mind link.
Ryou shuddered at the underlying threat of ‘or else’ in Bakura’s message. The teen sighed once again as he began a simple meal of soup and sandwiches. A few moments later the front door banged open as Bakura came sauntering into the house. He held a dagger covered in blood from some poor unsuspecting soul. Moving to the fridge, he pulled out a coke before sitting on the counter.
“Yadonoushi,” he purred towards Ryou, causing the shy teen to jump.
Ryou shook slightly, recognizing the tone of voice Bakura had used, “Ha-Hai Bakura-sama…”
Bakura jumped from the counter and moved in behind Ryou with feline grace, the dagger coming up to rest on the smaller teen’s chest, “This life you’ve given me…is wonderful. You are mine now…fully. Am I understood.”
“Ha-Hai Bakura-sama,” Ryou said in a soft voice that shook a bit.
Bakura just sneered at Ryou before slamming him into the counter. Ryou cried out as his stomach connected with the edge of the counter. Bakura just chuckled darkly as he threw Ryou to the ground and straddled the frightened teen’s body.
“You’re a weakling, a nothing, a nobody,” Bakura growled out as he cut away Ryou’s shirt,
“Even little Yugi care’s nothing for you. I heard the offer to stay there with that damned pharaoh and his damned hikari. They didn’t insist did they…they didn’t insist that you stay, convince you that you would be safer there. No…they wanted time to themselves without weaklings such as you getting in the way.”
Ryou shook his head no, “No…it-it’s not true…he…no…”
“Silence gaki,” Bakura said back handing Ryou, “You are mine and you will obey my every command. And if you tell a single soul I will kill you and those you have told.”
Ryou was sobbing as a small trickle of blood escaped the side of his mouth. Bakura began making shallow cuts into Ryou’s chest, leaving nothing in its wake except for pain and blood as he healed them with shadow magic. Ryou tried to struggle but only met with Bakura’s fist. The torture and beating lasted a few minutes longer before Bakura stood up bored. He stalked from the house to find bigger prey or Malik. Ryou picked himself up from the floor and stumbled into his bedroom. He knew that he could not tell Yugi or Yami; his homicidal yami would make good the threat. Ryou passed out on his bed from the pain.
The days quickly flew by, Ryou becoming more and more distant from his friends. Yugi and Yami never even noticed the change in the pale teen’s demeanor, caught in their own little world. . Bakura’s beatings becoming worse each night. Ryou walked towards the park, where he found peace…if even for a moment…and inspiration. Ryou had found a hidden talent for sketching and painting. He had taken to sneaking off with a sketch pad and colored pencils and sitting under the sakura trees. His sketches were dark and mysterious, showing the hidden pain in Ryou’s soul. It was on this night that Ryou would make the decision that would change his life forever.
Ryou came into his house to find the lights off and a deep sense of foreboding in the air. He didn’t get more than a few steps into the house when he was pushed to the floor, a knee pressed into his lower back. The door slammed shut loudly. Ryou cried out as he fought against his attacker. His sketch pad lain open on the floor just out of reach. The knee released Ryou as the attacker moved towards the book.
“Tsk, tsk Yadonoushi. Keeping secrets are we?,” Bakura’s dark, sadistic voice rang out,
“You know the punishment for this.”
“Ba-Bakura-sama, please. I - I promise to never do it again,” Ryou pleaded with his yami.
Bakura tossed the book aside and scowled at Ryou, “You’re worthless…”
Bakura picked Ryou up and slammed him into the wall, eliciting a cry of pain from him. The yami slapped Ryou hard to floor. Ryou tried to get up to run, but Bakura just grabbed him by the hair and pulled him back. A dagger appeared as Bakura smirked at the cowering teen.
“Yadonoushi I told you before…you are mine and you belong to only me.” Bakura snarled into the hikari’s ear, “And you are going to help me relieve a bit of stress.”
Ryou shook all over as Bakura bent over him, slicing away his clothing slowly. The yami smiled sadistically as the blade split the delicate pale flesh underneath the cloth. Ryou begged for the larger teen to stop. Bakura just laughed as he moved atop the teen, his arousal straining against the yami’s leather pants. Ryou sobbed as he knew what was to come next. Bakura leaned down and raped the poor boy’s mouth as he removed his leather pants. The hikari cried out into Bakura’s mouth as the yami forced Ryou’s legs apart.
“Scream for me Yadonoushi,” he whispered into the pale teen’s ear right before forcing his member into the teen’s virgin entrance.
Ryou screamed out as he felt like he was being torn in two. Bakura didn’t wait before he began thrusting in and out of Ryou. The teen just continued to beg and cry out as the pain wracked his small body. Bakura’s erect member was soon slicked by the hikari’s blood, smoothing out the thrusts that continued to ravage the pale teen’s entrance. Bakura grunted as he released his burning seed into Ryou and then pulled out. Ryou just sobbed, curled into a helpless ball upon the floor in a puddle of blood and semen as he watched he yami get dressed. Bakura smirked at Ryou before leaving the house to go out with Malik again. Ryou managed to make his way to his room and collapsed on the bed.
“I can’t do this any more…the pain…” Ryou said out loud, “This ends now…”
He sat up and grabbed one of his darker drawings and began a note on the back of it:
Bakura, Yugi, my former friends -
If you are reading this it means that I have given up on life. I no longer wish to deal with all this pain and suffering. The loneliness that everyone has placed upon me by no longer caring is too much. Bakura I once loved you like a brother and even like a lover. After tonight I can no longer know if I can ever forgive you.
Know this, I will be in a better place than this hell I have had to endure for so long alone.
Bakura Ryou
Ryou left the note pinned to his door as he grabbed his money he saved and all his sketch pads. He ran out of the house as quickly as he could with his body screaming at him. He moved into the park and to his sakura tree. Once there he took out a pocket knife and opened it. He slit one of his wrists allowing the pain to filter through the link into his yami’s side. He then took off the ring, letting the blood drench the gold and tossed it under the tree. He knew with the removal of the ring in this way may very well sever the link, or at least block it until he chose to reopen it. He led the trail of blood to the river’s edge before wrapping a piece of his shirt around the cut to stop the bleeding. He staggered to his stuff, and gathering it up and before making his way from the park.
He was free. Now the only thing for him to do was to start over… away from his old life and Domino City.
