Valentine for a Dragon
@-->-->----
It was the start of yet another school day at the Domino City High School. All through the halls, girls were giggling and trying not to get caught as they watched the boys, and boys were strutting and trying not to blush whenever they caught a girl looking their way. But over at the lockers, two boys and a girl weren't worried about that sort of thing. They had something else on their mind. Or rather, someone else.
"What do ya mean he ain't here?" Joey scowled at the brunette girl, obviously not happy at her news.
Téa shook her head and started taking books out of her locker. "Just what I said, Joey. Kaiba didn't come to school today."
"I heard two of the teachers talking about it. Seems he had some big conference on, or something like that. He sent a letter to the office about it, earlier in the week." Tristan leaned against the locker beside him, his arms crossed. He frowned. "How come he gets to miss school today?"
"Maybe because he's the CEO of one of the world's largest companies?" Téa suggested sweetly, then chuckled at the matching glares she received in response. "Anyway, I don't see what the big deal is. I mean, he's only missing one day. It's not like he does it all the time. Only every now and then, whenever something comes up that he can't schedule around school. That's fair enough, right?"
"Sure. But you have to admit, it's pretty suspicious that his 'big conference' just happens to be today!" Tristan's frown deepened. "I reckon he's skipped deliberately, just to get out of it."
Téa gave Tristan an odd look, one eyebrow raised. "What's so special about today?"
The two boys nearly fell over in shock. Tristan gaped at her. "Téa! It's Valentine's Day! How could you possibly have forgotten that?"
Joey nodded. "Yeah! I mean, you've been bouncin' all over the place for the past week mutterin' about it!"
Téa put her hands on her hips and glared at them both. "I have not been muttering and I don't bounce!" She waited until they started edging away nervously and then gave them a sweet smile. "I also didn't forget. Here." She took two red envelopes and two small boxes neatly wrapped in red paper with darker red ribbon and topped with a red bow out of her locker and handed them over. "Happy Valentine's Day, boys."
Tristan broke into a huge grin. "Thanks Téa!" He hugged her, always happy to be given chocolate.
Téa laughed and hugged him back, then looked expectantly at Joey. "Well? Don't I get a hug from you too?"
Joey blinked and came out of his daze. "Huh? Oh! Sure Téa. Sorry. Thanks a lot!" He hugged her, lifting her off her feet slightly.
"Oof! Joey! Put me down!" Téa was laughing and Tristan wasn't far behind her, but Joey's smirk didn't quite reach his eyes as he set her down again. The brunette girl eyed Joey thoughtfully.
The bell rang, signalling the start of class and Tristan groaned. "Maths first up. Oh man, if only my dog would eat my homework."
Téa smiled and shook her head. "Sorry Tristan, but class starts in five minutes and your dog isn't here."
The teen smirked and handed his maths homework to Joey. "Hey Joey, be a pal and eat this for me, would you?"
Joey glared at him as Téa burst out laughing. "It's only 'cause we're pals that I won't deck ya for the dog joke." He shoved the papers back into Tristan's hands. "You want 'em eaten? Go right ahead! I'd put a little ketchup on 'em first though. It should hide the taste of the low grade."
Tristan winced. "Man, and you complain that my jokes are bad?"
Téa shook her head and grabbed Tristan's arm, tugging on it hard. "You're both a couple of comedians. Come on Tristan, it's time to take your act on the road or we'll be late for class."
"Yes ma'am!" Tristan was still laughing as he allowed himself to be led off down the hallway.
Téa paused and looked over her shoulder at Joey. "You know... if you're that eager to see Kaiba today, you could always go over to his place after school. Valentine's Day doesn't end until midnight." With a smirk and a wink, the brunette girl headed off with Tristan, leaving behind a very stunned blonde.
"Man... How does she do that? She always knows what I'm thinkin'." Joey thought about that for a second and shuddered. "Now that's scary."
@-->-->----
"What am I doin' here? I must be crazy." Joey shook his head and abruptly turned, starting to walk away from the huge gates he'd stopped in front of. He hadn't meant to walk here, but somehow his legs had just carried him here instead of taking him home like he'd wanted them to. Well... they could just carry him home now! Only... for some reason they turned him around and marched him back to the gate again.
Joey glared down at his traitorous legs as his just-as-traitorous hand rose and pushed the buzzer. The bored voice of the security guard pulled his mind back to the present. "Uh... I'm Joey Wheeler, I have Kaiba's school homework. He missed today." He winced at the inane comment. 'Nice goin' Joey. Way to make a fool of yourself. Might as well just go and.... huh?' Joey blinked in shock as the gate buzzed and opened, the guard coming out of his station.
"Sir, if you'd like to follow me, Mr Kaiba has instructed me to take you up to the main house." The guard scanned Joey's rumpled uniform with a slight sneer and a barely noticeable shake of his head before turning away. Obviously his impression was not a favourable one, but Joey was too shocked to care as he followed the man.
Kaiba had let him in? Had all the pigs in the world just sprouted wings and he hadn't heard about it yet?
The guard took him up to the front door, which opened just as he got there. The mystery was explained when the tousled raven hair of Mokuba Kaiba poked through the doorway and the boy grinned at Joey. "Hi Joey! Come on in! Thanks Mr Hakiama!"
Joey smiled as he stepped inside. "Hey kid. You know, your brother's probably not gonna be too happy with you about this."
Mokuba's grin became a very mischievous smirk. "Serves him right. He got to miss school today but he insisted that I go! I owe him for that."
Joey laughed. "How many chocolates did you get?" He laughed harder as Mokuba rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Too many! My schoolbag was so heavy I almost fell over when I picked it up! Stop laughing, it's not... funny..." He broke off, giggling as Joey's laughter proved too infectious for him to resist.
"Then you're gonna hate me for this." Joey smirked as he pulled a red envelope and matching present out of his bag. "Téa cornered me this afternoon and asked me to pass this on to you." He shuddered. "She knew I was coming here before I knew it. Is it just me or does that strike you as scary?"
Mokuba laughed as he accepted the chocolates. "No, I knew you'd come here too. At least..." He hesitated, his smile fading as he looked up at Joey. "I hoped you would." His eyes searched the older teen's for a moment. "Big brother's been in a bad mood all day."
Joey sighed. "Man... am I really that obvious?"
"No." Mokuba smirked. "Not to him, anyway. He still thinks you argue with him all the time because you hate him."
"Which is good, 'cause if he ever found out different..." Joey didn't allow himself to finish the sentence and quickly blocked out the images that tried to fill his mind at the thought.
Mokuba smiled, an oddly knowing smile for one of his tender years. "You might be surprised, Joey."
The boy's words made the temptation stronger, but Joey resisted it with all his willpower. "Nah. Look, can you see he gets this stuff?" He pulled out a folder of papers, another red card and present and a small gift bag.
"You mean you really did bring his homework?" Mokuba shook his head, looking disappointed. "I thought... Never mind." He smiled, although a trace of disappointment still remained in his eyes. Then a spark of cunning lit their depths, although he tried to hide it behind an innocent expression. "Why don't you go and give them to him yourself? He's up in his room. I'd be happy to show you the way."
Joey smirked and ruffled Mokuba's hair. "I'm sure you would be. No way I'm fallin' for that, Mokuba." His expression softened as disappointment again filled the boy's eyes. "I volunteered to bring his homework. Said I was comin' out this way. I figured it might be enough of a reason to get me in the gate. Worked too." He smirked as Mokuba smiled at him. "Téa also asked me to deliver his Valentine's Day gift, like she did with yours."
Mokuba smirked. "So why were you really coming to see my big brother?" He eyed the small gift bag in Joey's hands. "That wouldn't be the reason, would it?" He laughed. "From the look on your face, I'd say it is!"
The blonde teen sighed and shook his head. "Man Mokuba... I really am that obvious, aren't I?" He sighed again and smiled ruefully. "Yeah... well... I was passing this shop the other day and I saw it and I thought of... Kaiba... and..." He shrugged as his cheeks flushed. "I don't know why I got it, really. I mean... it's not like Kaiba and I are... And only girls give... and I'm no girl! I just saw it and got these thoughts and..." He looked down into Mokuba's eyes and his colour heightened. "Oh man... I shouldn't be telling ya all this..."
Mokuba smirked. "I know you and my big brother aren't boyfriends, Joey. I also know that it's not because you don't like him that way." Ignoring Joey's gasp and attempt at a spluttered denial, the boy continued, "If you're sure you don't want to give it to him yourself, then I'll make sure he gets it. And I promise I won't tell him who it's from."
"Thanks Mokuba. I owe ya one." Joey managed a weak smile as he tried to get his pounding heart to slow down again. The kid had nearly given him a heart attack with his insight. If Kaiba ever found out... he really didn't want to think about it. As long as Kaiba had no clue, Joey could at least dream of the possibilities. The ones that didn't include the most likely scenario of Kaiba giving him a sneer of contempt and ordering him to stay away from him.
@-->-->----
As soon as Joey had gone out the front door, Mokuba went into action. Within a minute, he burst into his brother's room. "Big brother! You have a present!"
Seto Kaiba froze in mid-stroke. He quickly sat up, hiding his aroused state as best he could. "Mokuba!" He could feel the heat rising in his cheeks and fought to control it, even as he fought to keep from yelling at his younger brother. "What have I told you about knocking? And about disturbing me at this time of day when I'm home?"
Mokuba rolled his eyes. "Seto! I already know about it. Four to four-thirty, masturbation."
"Mokuba!" Kaiba knew he'd lost the battle with his blush even before he felt his cheeks blaze with heat.
"What? That's what you have written in your personal schedule." Mokuba looked at him curiously. "What is 'masturbation', anyway?"
Kaiba closed his eyes, silently wondering if it was possible that this was all just a nightmare. When he opened his eyes, would he find himself awake with his innocent brother smiling at him? Or would this mischievous little devil still be looking at him with a gleam in his eyes and a smirk twitching at his lips, feigning ignorance of something that he, judging from his lack of surprise and questions about what he'd walked in on, already knew about. He opened his eyes and sighed. It wasn't a nightmare. "Did you say something about a present?"
Mokuba giggled and nodded. "Someone came by with your school homework." He paused to pout at his big brother. "I can't believe you told that lie so you could stay home, but made me go today!"
Kaiba smirked. "I had an excuse. You didn't."
"Yeah, a board meeting that you could have scheduled for tonight!" Mokuba was still pouting.
"But I didn't. Now, you said something about a present and, unless your tastes have changed, I'm assuming that it's something other than my homework?" Kaiba arched an eyebrow as Mokuba dropped a folder, a red envelope, a gift that was topped with a bow almost as large as the rest of the present and a small gift bag. "Who brought this?"
Mokuba grinned, his usual good humour restored. "The present and card are from Téa. I got one too. The gift bag is from the one who brought your homework here. I promised I wouldn't say who it was but... if you hurry, you might be able to spot them before they go out the gate." Giggling, Mokuba turned. "Enjoy your gift, Seto!" He was still giggling as he closed the door, leaving his brother alone again.
Curious, Kaiba stood up and walked to the window. He pulled back one side of the curtain, being careful to stay out of sight. It wouldn't do if one of his employees caught sight of him naked. He scanned the driveway until his eyes finally caught a flash of movement. Even from such a distance, Kaiba easily recognised the boy sauntering down the driveway. Wheeler's hair was even more distinctive than his walk. "Now why would he bring me a gift?"
Kaiba remained at the window, watching until the gate opened and closed again, with Wheeler on the other side, where he belonged. Frowning thoughtfully, Kaiba twitched the curtain back into place and returned to the bed, where he picked up the small gift bag. "So... let's see what he brought me. Some tasteless gag gift, I suppose."
He peered into the bag and went still, a quick intake of breath the only sign of his surprise. Pulling out the bottle, his eyes widened as he realised what he was holding. They widened more as a stream of images began parading through his mind, prompted by Wheeler's 'gift'.
With a low groan, Kaiba returned to the bed, the bottle falling unnoticed from his hand in his haste to lie down and begin dealing with the results of his overly-vivid imagination.
The bottle of chocolate-flavoured body paint lay innocently on the bed, completely oblivious to the low moans that filled the room for several minutes before Kaiba's voice cried out as he brought himself to his release.
"Joey!"
