SUMMARY: [EVIL!Atem] Atem intends to
claim the priest he's been given; Seth intends not to be claimed.
They play a dark game to decide Seth's fate... He just has to not
scream for one hour...
NOTES: Written for writing prompt (
http://fancy-random.lythande.com/archives/77 ) of “revealing
all of yourself” in a... somewhat different way. On that note,
the ancient Egyptians considered the heart to be the seat of the mind
and soul (while the brain was pretty much a space filler). --- I'm
considered possibly or possibly not writing more chapters. Really
depends on feedback and my own mood.

CHAPTER 1
Shadows slithered along tanned
arms while crimson eyes glowed in the darkness. He let his fingers
slide over his sacrifice's bare chest, shadows trailing behind him
like obscene water, painting the golden skin black as night.
"The Lord and Master of the
Shadows accepts your offering." His hands slid up his neck and
buried in auburn hair on either side of his jaw, bending his neck so
that he could look into his face. Darkness dripped in defiance of
gravity along the chiseled lines of the strong nose, high cheekbones,
and defined jaw. This man had been sculpted by some master artisan,
designed by the gods and created by Ptah for this moment, to be a
gift, just... for... him.
He licked his lips faintly, then
leaned down and licked Seth's lips instead. The priest stubbornly
resisted, trying to pull away. At the moment he liked that unbroken
spirit. The duel was always half the fun of the reward, after all...
"Don't you have anything to
say to your king?" he purred, letting his fingers caress his jaw
wile he nuzzled the soft cheek.
"Only that you are not yet
king." His head twisted away. "And if the gods know any
justice, you'll be struck down before you ever are."
Atem only smiled faintly and
pulled the priest's fine jaw back to make him face him. "Are you
trying to hurt my feelings?" His thumb ran over his lips, then
pushed between them, running over his lower teeth.
Seth twisted his head away again.
"Your heart doesn't have the feelings to hurt... You are
nothing, in the shape of a man."
He chuckled and kissed his jaw
sweetly. "And now you go after my pride... As though it matters
what you think of me. It's such an empty insult, coming from you. Who
can judge me but the gods? You are only a mortal... a peasant at
that, lifted up above your station by luck and the grace of your
betters... Your opinion matters as little as those of the beasts in
the fields." He ran his fingers though Seth's hair, and then
down to cup his shoulders. "Remember which of us is born of
gods."
"The only way you are a
product of a god is if Apep shat you out."
He looked down into the blue eyes
blazing defiantly; in the darkness of the Shadows they seemed to glow
with their own inner light. "What a dangerous thing for you to
say," he murmured. "Such words have a death sentence. Your
hubris will lead you astray..."
Seth only glared defiantly up at
him. The shadows that stretched his arms and legs out writhed over
his skin and kept him from doing anything more ill-advised. He didn't
struggle against them anymore, but he could see that he would
physically attack him if he could. Hubris indeed.
"I wonder if you're trying to
make me kill you." He pulled back and let his hand trail down
the hard abs and slide over his thigh as he started to walk around
him. Seth's face gave nothing away and he smiled a little. "You
obviously know there is no way your power will match mine, and no
escape for you, so do you think that causing me to kill you in a rage
and depriving me of the fun I want from you is a victory? Or..."
He stepped up to Seth's other side and looked down into his eyes.
"You think to 'expose' me and
my darkness with your death. To have my father and uncle lock me away
somewhere far from the throne for the sake of the kingdom."
Seth didn't answer; he didn't
really need to.
"A noble but misguided
gesture." A smile crossed his face. "There is no secret to
expose. They know. My father knew what he was doing when he gave you
to me. If you go missing, they'll know you didn't please me after
all, and I will have a new high priest... So, shall I kill you?"
He played with Seth's hair. "Shall we waste your life and make
me spend my time with someone less satisfactory? Maybe several
someones?"
It wasn't really a choice for
Seth. Killing him or not had nothing to do with anything Seth did and
everything to do with whether or not he was fun - and he already knew
he was going to be for some time yet. Just as he knew Seth would
never be so cowardly that he would waste his own life and let this
punishment fall to someone weaker. People were easy once you knew
their rules.
It hardly registered on him that
the priest didn't answer him. The choice was obviously already made.
That was his favorite form of defiance, wasn't it, to simply not
answer him? Such the strong and silent sort.
"Let's play a game, Seth."
He slid neatly across his body and straddled his stomach, hands on
his shoulders, and looked down into his face. His muscles were so
tense underneath his legs... he was so hard it was making him
hard. No, he wouldn't let this pretty body go to waste...
"No."
"You don't have a choice."
He kissed him, tugging at his lip with his teeth; Seth ignored him,
of course. That would change. "I will even give you a chance to
escape me."
For the first time, Seth willingly
looked at him, and he smiled back. It had taken long enough to get
his attention. "Yes," he agreed to the silent question.
"And you know I always honor the conditions of the game. If you
win, you will win free and clear. No tricks."
It took a long moment of Seth
staring at him and his fingers toying with his earlobe before he
finally agreed. "What game?" he demanded, with that
delicious wary feeling in his voice like a man who might, just might,
have hope after all...
He didn't, of course, not really,
but he always liked it better this way.
"I'll give you a more than
fair chance... I'll let you make the game. I'll make the conditions,
you make the rules." Anticipation made him smile, and Seth
nodded, warily. "Good. The conditions... I have to make you
scream." His fingers trailed down Seth's cheek, and he watched
them intently, the way they indented the tanned skin and how it
sprang back behind them, tainted with shadows that rolled down into
his hair or up into the air. "If I succeed," he murmured
distractedly, "I win. If you successfully defy me and maintain
that stoic silence, you win..."
"That isn't a game,"
Seth argued. He was fascinated by the way his jaw moved when he
spoke, the stretch and motion of his skin.
"It's a contest," he
agreed. "My power against your endurance. And the prize will be
you. You are free if you win, you are mine if you don't." He
licked the skin of his cheek and savored the salty taste of
fear-sweat and the tang of anger seeping through his pores. He didn't
yet taste of desperation.
The shadows shifted around them
when Seth clenched his bound hands into fists, but he didn't argue
with the conditions. His jaw clenched in a most interesting
tightness.
"Now, the rules. You may set
three of them."
Seth was silent for a long moment,
and he sat up to take his head in his hands again, forcing him to
meet his eyes. "There's a time limit," he finally said, not
flinching from the gaze. "You only have a handful of sand to do
it in."
"So little?" he said
with a smile, forging an hourglass of shadows with a mere handful of
sand inside. "Come now, I gave you a genuine chance at freedom,
I deserve better than that."
"You gave me the rules to
set," he said stubbornly. "That is the first rule."
"No." He leaned close
and licked his opposite cheek and murmured into his ear. "Set an
acceptable time limit, or I will set one, and you will not find it
acceptable at all..."
Seth's sculpted jaw clenched
again, but he managed to get words out between his clenched teeth.
"An hour."
"That's better." His
fingers ran down his cheek some more, tracing his cheekbone. The
hourglass grew much large and settled in the shadows behind him, sand
suspended at the top. "That is one."
"It has to be a true scream,
not any noise you elicit."
"Very well."
"And you can't touch me."
Atem pulled back with a smile. "I
like that... That's very good." His fingers ran down his cheeks
again and he slid off of him, landing noiselessly on the shadows that
acted as floor. "You've made this very interesting... Thank you.
I like a challenge."
Seth didn't answer, but his arms
and jaw were still tense with revulsion and defiance. Atem settled
back on nothing, shadows swarming up to form a throne beneath him
where he could watch, and the hourglass settled on his throne's arm.
"The game starts now," he mentioned casually as the sand
began to fall.
Shadows slid up from the floor and
began to crawl over Seth's arms and legs. Paper-thin lines of blood
followed them.
The priest gasped, eyes wide with
more surprise than pain, and yanked his head from the shadows to look
at him. "You can't touch me!"
"I'm not, am I?" His
chin rested lightly on his fist while his eyes followed the cutting
shadows. They followed each other, drinking the drops of blood he
spilled. "The shadows are no part of me, and you said nothing
about magic..."
Seth clenched his jaw and stared
back up at the ceiling of darkness again. No doubt he thought an hour
of this would be easy enough to endure - not pleasant, but easy. He
would probably be right, if they were going to spend the next hour
without doing anything more... interesting.
His
throne glided through the shadows, letting him circle Seth without
standing and giving himself the temptation to touch. Seth did
have a very touchable body... He let a new set of shadows slide down
his chest, pretending they were his fingers, caressing his stomach
and sliding down the inside of his thighs, ignoring for now the
flaccid manhood. He really was tan and chiseled all
over, like any good peasant. He could picture years of his youth
spent toiling naked in the mud and the fields...
A smile touched his lips, and he
slid his fingers into the arm of his shadow throne. His avatar
shadows slid up between his legs and groped along his ass. Seth
tensed hard to keep them out; he gave a gasp as a thin finger of them
pushed inside of him anyway.
"I don't think you're so new
to this." He reclined in his throne, watching shadows slowly
slide into him. Thin cuts were still being traced over his limbs, but
they had fallen in the hierarchy of importance, to both of them.
"Your rise to High Priest was unnaturally swift. Loathe as I am
to take Aknaudin's left-overs... I can see making an exception."
"I
did not fuck
Aknaudin!"
"No?" He smiled a little
and maneuvered more shadows into him. Seth gasped again. "I was
so certain you had. My uncle was very insistent in sponsoring you.
Surely not Mahaado then?"
"No one!" This time his
words were gasped. A dark flush had come into his cheeks, and there
was an obvious stirring in his groin, but he had his fists clenched
and eyes still staring straight ahead to ignore it.
"Don't
lie to me." A shadow caressed his cheek with the soft words.
"One does not go from peasant to High Priest in two years on
talent."
"I do."
He moved around to look down into
the flushed face. Seth looked like he wasn't lying; he also looked
very resolute, no doubt to win this game. And he also looked very,
undesiredly aroused,
"Are you enjoying yourself?"
he asked with a small smile.
Seth spat up into his face.
The
urge to strike him was immediate and powerful, but also contained as
soon as he realized it for what it was. So Seth did
know how to play.
He sat back, chuckling instead as
he wiped it from his cheek, and the Shadows spun and pulled Seth
upright in front of him so that he was hanging in the air with his
arms and legs spread. Drops of blood and shadow rolled down his
sides, both consumed by the darkness before they could drip off.
The thin line of shadow still
wound up inside of him, but it found a new goal, and Seth made a
noise, letting his chin drop onto his chest. His arms seemed to be
quivering with the effort of resisting the pleasure. Pleasure could
be so much more torturous than pain...
A shadow lifted Seth's chin and
made him look at him. His cheeks were quite pink, but he still met
his eyes squarely. His breathing was visibly heavy, but inaudible.
That was too bad, he wanted to see him panting...
"I can be a benevolent
master," he told Seth. Shadows pulsed and caressed his insides,
and his priest-toy made another noise, looking away. Shadows pulled
his head back again. "I can be," he repeated. "I could
have you screaming in pleasure in seconds. And I could keep you there
indefinitely, until I grew tired of it, and when I released you you
would never again do anything but beg for me."
"Never," he gasped out.
"Oh yes." He smiled and
a shadow ran tantalizingly down Seth's chest and stomach, only to
disappear. "I could. Someday I may. However, unfortunately for
you, I don't feel like being benevolent right now."
The slim finger of shadows
disappeared, and in the same moment a mass of them the size of a fist
shoved toward him. It couldn't get in at first; Atem watched with a
small smile as smaller shadows latched onto the sides of his hole and
pulled it wider, fighting him, until it could force its way inside.
It rammed up inside of him. A
visible bulge rose on his stomach, and Seth made a choked noise that
was probably originally supposed to be a scream.
"I can also be a cruel
master," he mentioned unnecessarily.
"Stop it," Seth gasped,
this time clearly in pain. He couldn't have thought he actually
would; it was encouraging to see it getting to him so much he would
ask that. From Seth, really, that was begging.
Instead, he watched the bulge of
the shadows as they fucked him. He could smell the blood that slid
down them to be consumed before it reached the floor; unconsciously
he licked his lips, and began to absently stroke himself. When this
ban was lifted and he could touch Seth himself...
"You've lasted about a fifth
of your time," he said absently, sending more shadows crawling
up the pillar from the floor to force their way inside of him. Seth
panted harshly and didn't answer. Maybe he couldn't.
Atem's eyes wandered down the taut
body, watching the bulge of shadows press further up, following the
curve of bowels and intestines, at least for now. That could change
at a moment's notice and send them plunging out through his guts and
surfacing in a explosion in that golden skin... He chuckled quietly
at the visual.
"I think we will feed your
body shadows until they come out your mouth," he mused. "It
might take less than your hour. Sorry, your three-quarters hour,
now."
"No," Seth gasped,
doubling over as the pain of the shadows forcing their way through
his gut redoubled. There was a long obscene bulge slowly growing
through him now, writhing this way and that; tiny streams of blood
trickled from his entrance and along the shadows, being swallowed
quickly, but most of it was corked inside of him by the shadows that
were violating him.
"I suppose it would get in
the way of your screams."
"I thought... you didn't want
to kill me..." Seth was gasping for air. The muscles of his
abdomen were rippling with cramps that tried to force the intruders
out. In reality, they could only have succeeded in clamping around
them more tightly and hurting that much more.
Atem resisted the urge to reach
out and caress his stomach and the shadows within, and only laughed
instead. "Don't be naive, mortal. You are in the Shadow Realm...
and this Realm is My domain. You won't suffocate, or die from lack of
blood... in fact, you won't die at all unless I will it."
Seth raised his eyes and stared at
him with visible horror. He only chuckled, watching as he bent over
with another sharp groan of pain. The shadows were filling him so
much that his stomach was starting to take on an oddly pregnant look,
if pregnant bellies were writhing and stretched and had a visible
path in them. Now there was an idea... to put into action later,
perhaps. It would be a sight to make his new slave carry and even
birth shadow-conceived monsters, when he had the time to do it
properly.
But at the moment he had just
under three quarters of an hour left to make Seth scream, and he was
far more interested in screams of pain than screams of horror right
now. He left those shadows to their work, burrowing through his
organs, and let his eyes caress the rest of the taut body. Paper-thin
cuts over most of his skin still leaked drops of blood, but they
didn't spoil the canvas for him.
He left his stomach alone - he
wanted a clear view of the raping shadows' progress - and had shadows
caress the muscular legs. He had been taught that the bone in the
thigh was the strongest in the body... that, for example, if you were
fighting with a club or a mace it was a terrible target. Now, shadows
wrapped lovingly around his upper leg and in a sharp motion twisted,
pulling out and down and around simultaneously. For a split second it
looked like his leg would be ripped out from his hip at the joint;
instead, a wet crunch sounded, and Seth doubled as far as the shadows
would let him, eyes wide and staring. His chest heaved like he was
panting for air, but from the silence and gasping motions his throat
had closed and was keeping him from getting any.
The shadows twisted his legs until
the broken ends of his shattered femur protruded through the flesh,
coated in his blood and torn bits of muscle. His foot was facing the
wrong way before they stopped and held it there, and only then did
Seth manage to take a high, thin breath. His eyes still stared
blankly through the floor as he tried to cope with it; a thin stream
of blood ran from his mouth where he must have bitten his tongue
clear through. It had worked, though; he hadn't screamed.
"How many more bones will I
have to go through?" he wondered with a smile, as long fingers
of shadow caressed his stretched arms and other leg. His throne
carried him slowly around his prisoner-priest, giving him the chance
to admire the work from different angels. His stomach was visibly
distended with shadows on the sides, too, and his anus had been
stretched to where at least two fists side by side could have entered
him. The blood leaking down the shadows came from fissures in his
skin where the ring of muscle itself had torn under the pressure.
"All of them." Seth
surprised him with his raspy answer, and he looked up with raised
eyebrows but still a small smile on his lips. He was still staring
down and ahead, refusing to lift his eyes and look at his captor, but
maybe his mind wasn't blanked by pain yet after all. "Break them
all, you won't win."
His smile grew. "We'll see,"
he promised.
Shadows rolled around one of
Seth's hands like a large glove, closing it inside. He could see Seth
tensing stonily, ignoring the shadows digging through him, before
they even did anything. Such a futile gesture.
The shadows compacted slowly,
crushing his hand inside their space. Seth's eyes shut tightly and
his breaths were heavy and ragged through his nose; the quiet crunch
of breaking bones, muffled by flesh and shadows, was almost lost
under it. Blood ran down his arm and dripped from within the shadows,
but Seth didn't even try to scream this time.
So they moved down, consuming his
arm to the elbow. Seth made a noise as they slowly folded his arm
back on itself over and over again, finally rolling it backward and
crushing his bones to powder, but even Atem with his interest in
winning would admit it was more of a whine, or a choked-off groan.
Certainly not a scream by any means.
Progress, though.
"That's all right," Atem
mentioned as he watched them move up and crush his elbow. "You
don't need that arm anyway, right? You have two."
Seth opened his mouth and expelled
a thin stream of bloody bile toward the floor, gagging and panting.
"That must have hurt a lot,"
Atem said sympathetically, resting his chin lightly on his hand. The
throne brought him back in front of Seth so that he could look up
into his eyes. Seth was staring through him, trembling a little with
the pain. Because he couldn't touch him without forfeiting his own
game, Atem sent a gentle shadow tendril to caress his strong jaw, and
Seth reacted violently, jerking his head away so hard his neck
cracked harmlessly.
The tendril of shadow followed his
head, covering his eyes and pressing on them while Seth tried to
shake it off. Atem consider crushing the orbs, or having them pulled
out... he hadn't met anyone yet who could take being blinded without
screaming. That assurance of victory was outweighed by the future
inconvenience, though; he would probably want him to have his vision
shortly. The shadows fell away from his eyes and dripped down his
face, letting him pant with pain and relief.
Atem smiled a little at him when
he opened his eyes again. Seth's answering glare was blazing.
The dark prince's eyes drifted
down, following the planes of his skin until they reached his
abdomen. His entire stomach, once flat and hard with defined muscles,
was now so stretched and distended that he was surprised bloody
fissures weren't opening in the covering skin. The surface writhed
visibly as the shadows within him shifted through his intestines,
consuming the contents to clear their way, and climbed their path
through his insides. It wasn't an easy journey with Seth's muscles
still cramping down around them, fighting them every inch of the way,
and the fact that the head of them was a plum-sized mass pushing
through a tube of flesh less than half its size, forcing him apart as
it went. His twenty-five feet of intestine had been filled now,
though; the hardest part of the journey was over.
He raised his eyes back to Seth's
with a smile. "You've gone half an hour," he noted. "And
two limbs."
His blue eyes rose to meet his
firmly. "I'll keep going..." he panted quietly. More blood
dripped from his bitten tongue, and he spat it on the floor, where
the shadows consumed it greedily.
"Somehow I doubt it." He
leaned back, the hand his chin wasn't resting on moving to stroke
himself lazily. Seth stubbornly ignored the sight, and he smirked.
"So, when you win," he allowed mockingly, "what will
you have? That arm will be lost. Maybe your leg too." Seth's
eyes narrowed, and his smirk widened. "You thought I was going
to fix you? That wasn't part of the deal. I said I'd let you go,
nothing more."
"I'll survive... with one
arm... He winced and retched as a wave of nausea washed over him
visibly.
"Survive doing what?" He
watched with dark excitement as the bulb of shadow pushed his skin
and climbed up toward his stomach. "If you don't please me, you
won't be my Priest. If you aren't my priest, you'll have no place
here. Aknaudin, the other priests, my father, all will turn you away.
You can spend the rest of your life as a one-arm limping goat-herder,
maybe. Or a beggar at my gates..."
Seth cringed, heaving for air,
struggling not to make a sound. "What... What's happening...?"
Atem didn't answer him, but his
smile grew. "You don't have any other life waiting for you. You
do realize why the other priests like you and accept you so readily,
don't you? It's because they know you've been groomed for this
position for years. They know that your purpose is to be mine, and
you are saving any and all of them from fulfilling it instead."
Seth raised his eyes to his again.
He could see that he didn't want to believe him, and that he didn't
believe him... mostly. But he could also see that the seed of doubt
had been planted; he could see it in his eyes. Seth understood
self-preservation, understood that it made sense for them to want to
escape this fate for themselves...
"All of your new friends,
your mentors... those you trusted... You have been sacrificed, Seth."
"No," Seth rasped
faintly in denial.
Then his tall body was wracked
with tremors and he gagged again, and threw up with violent spasms
that clenched all his abdominal muscles around the huge intrusion.
The product was more vomit than blood or bile, but had its share of
blood and stomach acids. His stomach emptied itself, purging its
contents as it tried to rid itself of the foreign invader from below
that Atem watched twist and bulge its way into the emptied organ,
filling and stretching it like a terrible meal he'd overindulged in,
feeding slowly back up his esophagus.
When he had no more stomach
contents and couldn't expel the shadows, Seth dry heaved only air and
blood from his mouth, and most likely a throat torn by the violent
retching. He was visibly struggling to speak, but could only gasp out
denials between the spams that tortured him.
He did manage to raise his eye
accusingly to Atem's. "No..." he gasped out before a
particularly large gout of blood and a high-pitched noise that Atem
could probably have argued as a weak scream.
Atem's smile grew a little, and he
continued methodically stroking himself to the spectacle.
Seth threw up more blood, full
mouthfuls of it, as the shadows climbed out of his stomach and
stretched his esophagus. He muscle spasms as he tried to vomit the
shadows out were so violent he thought he might break his own
remaining arm; that would have been worth seeing. It didn't happen
though. Only the increasingly desperate retching and struggling, and
the moment panic set in when the shadows closed his windpipe and he
could no longer breathe, and finally one last shower of blood that
sprinkled Atem in his throne as the shadows came surging out of his
mouth.
Seth screamed. Atem wouldn't have
had to argue the point in the slightest; it wasn't a strong scream,
since he couldn't breathe, but it was a high noise expelled around
the shadows, the sound of overwhelming pain and horror and the primal
fear of being helpless, suffocated and invaded by an unfightable
monster.
Atem grinned and licked drops
Seth's vomited blood from his lips. "I told you it wouldn't take
all your time," He mentioned as he pushed himself out of his
seat. "It didn't. In fact, you still almost half your time
left." He approached Seth and finally allowed himself to touch
him, running his hand down the distended belly. Seth struggled at the
touch; he pressed firmly, squeezing the shadows down almost to his
abdomen's normal size, and Seth screamed again in agony.
The shadows twisted him back down
flat on his back, with his mangled arm and shattered leg drawn out
taut from his body. Atem slid back on top of him, lightly rubbing his
hardness over the over-sensitive stomach, enjoying the little
whimpers of pain. His bare feet hooked over Seth's thighs and he took
hold of his head to look down into his face. "And now," he
purred, meeting his eyes, "you're mine."
The shadows surged through him,
and Seth was wracked with another terrible full-body spasm that made
him scream again. It was a weak, pathetic noise, but it made Atem
smile. He preferred the full-bodied, deep-throated screams of agony
he could usually get, but this sound was... a triumph. He had won the
game with it, after all.
He pulled Seth's head back again.
His eyes were wide and sheened with unshed ears. Of pain? Or of fear?
Atem wondered for the first time if Seth had a fear of suffocation,
or maybe drowning. Maybe so. If he'd known that earlier this might
have been more fun...
He smiled down into his face and
then licked his jaw, cleaning the flecks of blood from his golden
skin. "I feel like fucking you," he said, "but that
would be a little pointless, wouldn't it? You've already been fucked
so thoroughly I could stick my head up your ass and never touch the
sides..."
He puled Seth's head up by the jaw
and kissed him deeply, biting at his lips and allowing the shadows
penetrating from his mouth to share Seth's blood with him, caressing
them with his tongue. Delicious. Yes, he'd let this one live for a
long, long time...
The shadows got a sweet kiss of
their own as he leaned back and let the priest's jaw go. His fingers
slid down Seth's chest, feeling the lines of his twitching muscle
still trying to expel the raping shadows. He lovingly traced the
outline of individual ribs and scratched his sharp fingernails over
the dark nipple; unsurprisingly the sensation must have been lost in
the rest of the pain that was currently coursing through the priest,
because it got no reaction.
He traced his course again, and
then his fingers plunged into the golden flesh on the left side of
his chest, tearing a wound from collarbone to the bottom of his
ribcage. His fingers ripped through muscle, tearing it from its bone
moorings, and scraped over bone itself, and his toy arched back in
silent pain, no longer possessed of enough breath to even try to
scream.
Shadows tore through membranes and
wrapped around individual ribs, and with a twist of power ripped them
from the sternum and tore them out, dropping them aside like so much
waste. Seth did manage a weak scream this time, shaking his head in
helpless negation. He ripped his fingers through the last wall of
strong muscle and then wrapped his bloody fingers in Seth's hair,
yanking his head up.
"I want you to see what I'm
doing," he told the wild-eyed priest, dragging him up and
shoving his head down so that he was staring at the new hole in his
chest. "That is your living, beating heart..." His fingers
reached inside and caressed the bloody muscle. Beating it was,
hundreds of times a minute in fear and pain, like a rabbit's. It slid
under his fingers, slick and bloated as it pumped blood through him,
and out the many wounds he had suffered.
Seth shook his head violently, and
Atem grabbed his hair more tightly, making him look at it. The shadow
extending from his mouth grew toward the heart, reaching and
yearning; Seth made a helpless noise in his throat. Atem stopped it
eventually, wrapping his fingers through the shadow and lifting it
back toward Seth's filled mouth.
"That isn't for the shadows,"
he assured him, and leaned over him, standing on his knees and
straddling the bloody chest. With swift sure strokes he jerked
himself, lubricated with Seth's blood. Seth moaned in denial, but it
didn't stop him - to the contrary, he grinned and grew harder. Soon
he groaned and gripped Seth's head so tightly he tore out bloody
chunks of auburn hair and let go, shooting his sperm. A strand or two
hit Seth's hair and ran over his face, or splashed over his chest,
but most of it landed in the waiting chest cavity and coated the
pounding muscle there. the terror-beating heart was now bathed in a
pool of leaking blood and his own hot cum.
He was smiling as he jerked Seth's
head up to meet his eyes.
"Mine."

"What have you done?"
The Pharaoh turned around in mild
surprise, motioning back the bodyguard that stepped forward. The
voice he recognized easily, and his younger brother had never been
any sort of threat to him.
"Priest Aknaudin, you're
unaccustomedly excited."
"'Excited' is hardly the
word." The voice that said it was tense and all but fearful. The
normally composed priest's humble linen robe was in subtle disarray,
and his hood had fallen back to reveal grizzled hair and the golden
Eye glinting from its place set in his face. That still wasn't a
sight he had gotten used to, after almost fifteen years; his fingers
caressed the Puzzle he wore around his own neck, trying to see what
had alarmed his brother so much.
"Walk with me." He
turned back down the hall and carried on his journey. "What is
the matter?"
"You gave Seth to Atem."
The king's own shoulders tensed a
little. That had not been an easy decision... but he had made it.
"Yes," he admitted. "You know it needed to be done. I
regret taking your protege without your foreknowledge, but you know
that Atem has... needs. Seth was the best choice." He glanced to
his side. "The other priests are of higher birth and greater
skill... not greater potential," he admitted, "but greater
current strength. they have spent more time in dedication to the gods
and the Items... Atem would no longer be satisfied with servants and
girls. I think that only Seth would satisfy him. I'm sure that
another protege will present himself."
Aknaudin's hand closed around the
Pharaoh's bare upper arm and yank him to a stop. The guards suddenly
surged forward but he absently raised a hand to hold them back,
staring at his brother in deep consternation.
"Seth," Aknaudin said
very quietly, his voice unwontedly cold, "is my son."
"No..." he breathed, but
his eyes widened as puzzle pieces fell together. Of course the Eye
would show Aknaudin such a thing... The boy's talent with magic, his
intelligence, the interest Aknaudin took in grooming him, all were
explained in one simple sentence. "Why did you not say anything?
I would never have...!"
"Your monster of an heir
would have known." Aknaudin threw his brother's arm down in
frustration. "Don't you see? We were almost free! Seth would
have been your perfect heir, and that hellspawn you begot could have
been destroyed, and saved this land... and now you've destroyed him
and doomed us."
"You should have told me...
But there may still be time to save him." The Pharaoh lengthened
his strides and led the small group down the hall, praying that they
were not yet too late.

Shadows dissipated into the
hallway as the crown prince's door was pulled unceremoniously open.
"Atem..."
The guards recoiled with muttered
prayers; the Pharaoh and the priest stood rooted to their spots in
despairing silence.
Atem looked up with a faint smile,
red eyes glowing in the dark room. His fingers wound through auburn
hair as he lounged in a throne made of shadows wrapped around his
chair.
"Father... Uncle. Have you
come to see my priest?"
Seth raised a broken gaze to them
and rested his head on the thigh of his master.
"I am very satisfied."
