In Crowler’s class, today was a special dance for Valentine’s Day so class is being cut short today. Today is mostly a review day so Syrus wasn’t really paying attention. There’s something else on his mind anyways. Syrus doesn’t have a date today. He doesn’t really care about dances but if he didn’t have a date, it would be like shouting from the rooftops that he’s a loser.
Syrus’ POV
So here we are, Valentine’s day, the day of the big dance. I wonder if Jaden has a date. I bet he does. Probably Alexis. She likes him. Maybe I should ask someone. But I wanna go with Jaden…..but no way he’d be interested in me.
“Mr. Trusedale!” Crowler calls out to him. “Tell me what cards can give you an automatic victory in a duel.”
What? I don’t know that. Maybe Crowler already said it but I wasn’t listening.
“Um….uh….I know there’s Exodia….Destiny Board too?”
“Anything else?”
“Uh….Last Turn?”
“Is that all?”

“Self Destruct Button?”
“Not quite. If you listened, you would know that card makes a duel end in a draw, slacker. Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord is also one you forgot. There’s also Final Countdown and Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes.”
I hate when he picks on me. Even though I’m not in Sliffer Red anymore, he still calls me a slacker. I wasn’t slacking. I was distracted.
Jaden’s POV
I hate when Crowler picks on Sy like that. It’s not fair because he knows Sy probably doesn’t know the answer. But why did Sy seem distracted? Was he thinking about the dance today? Sy probably has a date. He could get any girl he wants because he’s so damn cute. Wait did I just call Syrus cute? What’s going on here? I can’t possibly like my best friend…in that way, can I? Wait, is he looking at me?

After 30 minutes, class finally ends and everyone goes back to their dorms to get ready for the dance. As he’s walking back to his dorm, Syrus wonders what he should do.
Syrus’ POV
I wonder what I should do? Should I go back to my dorm or Jaden’s dorm? Nah….I’ll go back to my dorm. If Jaden has a date, I’ll just get in the way. I guess I’ll just watch a movie….alone.

“Yea I guess, but I thought you were supposed to bring someone you like more than friends. And I don’t like her in that way.”

Jaden’s POV
Oh crap, did I just call Sy cute to his face? It kinda slipped out.
“Um…well no I don’t have a date either. I feel like a loser.” Syrus lowers his head.
Dammit, I made him sad. I always hate to see him sad.
“Hey don’t feel bad about it. If you’re a loser for not having a date, I am too. How about we just hang out at the dorm Sy?”
“Really? I’d love that.”
“And think about it, if we hang out instead of going to the dance, we can be losers together.”

Syrus and Jaden race each other to Jaden’s dorm. Jaden unlocks the door and they go in.
“So what do you wanna do?”
Syrus jumps on the bed.
“Let’s watch a movie! That’s what I was gonna do anyways.”
He looks so happy. Did he really wanna just spend the day with me instead of getting a date and go to the dance? Why?
Allright Sy. We’ll watch a movie. What kind?”

Jaden puts Ghostbusters in the DVD player and turns it on.
“I love the theme to this! Wanna sing along?” Jaden suggests.
Syrus giggles. “Sure.”
Jaden and Syrus sing along to the Ghostbusters theme and then start watching the movie. Time passes by and Syrus cuddles up next to Jaden while watching the movie. Jaden smiles and puts his arm around Syrus.
Syrus’ POV
Mm Jaden is so warm, I wish we could just sit here and watch movies all night. Jaden doesn’t seem to mind. Maybe he….na he could never fall for me. I’m just a friend to him.
The movie ends and Jaden gets up to put in Ghostbusters 2.
“Aww…why’d you have to get up Jay? I was so comfy.”
Jaden chuckles a little.
“Sorry Sy but I had to put in the sequel.”
Jaden puts in Ghostbusters 2 and comes back.

“I’m just afraid of um…losing you as a friend.”

Syrus starts to cry.
“Come on Sy, tell me what’s wrong. I won’t suddenly hate you or anything. You’re my best friend.”
Syrus’ POV
You’re so clueless Jay. How could I fall for someone like you? No….the bigger question is how could you ever fall for me? It’s never going to happen. But…like an idiot, you bring it up even though we were both comfortable just watching the movie together.
Jaden’s POV
I wish I knew why Syrus is being so emotional. Does he think our friendship mean nothing to me? Does he think I would just hate him all of a sudden, even after everything we’ve been through? I gotta do something to reassure him.
Jaden turns Syrus to face him.
“Sy…there’s nothing you can ever say that would make me hate you. Not after everything we’ve been through.”
Jaden pulls Syrus’ face closer to his and Syrus starts to blush furiously.
Syrus’ POV
Wh-what is he doing? Is he gonna….oh my god….
